Menu is way to broad for a bar and grill. I mean they sell Gyros which isnt a good idea especially since its not something typically wanted at a bar and grill. The hamburger we purchased was black and burnt and was hard as a hockey puck. The waitresses were standing around on their phones talking and ignoring the tables, I had to walk up to the bar to get my refill and I ended up getting attitude from her. I also had to wave her down to get my order put in. I understand places are under staffed but when I see her ignoring us with the other waitresses and would rather be on her phone and gossip, I dont have patience or understanding. This place has changed management twice since 2018 when I last stepped foot inside. It seems like there hasnt been any improvements. Also who puts shredded taco lettuce and crutons on a plate and call it a salad? Sugars does thats who. Also the whole place needs a remodel, new staff, and a new menu. Maybe call bar rescue for help. The only reason why its busy is the beer and the music bingo on Thursdays.
Our server was nice didnt wear mask. The place eas clean and roomy, appearance of food inviting but had no flavor. I had the Foxy Roxie Ham, two eggs and toast. The Ham was compressed aand salty and the toast was not toasted fully. It was like having regular bread sent back recieved more but there was no difference. Reason to why my place looks picked over. Will I give them another try. Maybe.
Called in an order yesterday 7/21/21, hamburger and fries, was told it would be 15 to 20 minutes. I got there around the 15 min mark and was told that a large table had come in while I was on the phone and their order was going to be made first. I dont know how long it takes to make a hamburger and fries but I sat in there at least another 20 minutes before I got my food. I took it home and the burger was burnt and dry. When I was on the phone placing the order I asked what came on the hamburger, I was told nothing. When I questioned, no lettuce, no tomatoes? She said well those come on the side. Isnt that what I was asking? I guess my whole order and dinner to these people was just a joke.This used to be a good place to eat but not anymore. Needless to say I wont be going back anytime soon if ever again.
I mistakenly ordered through Doordash. I realized it would take an hour so I changed it to pick up. I got to Sugars to pick up my order only to be told they dont do Doordash. The bar keep did take my order of 4 hamburgers and fries and the kitchen staff expedited the burgers and fries. Wait time was about 15 minutes. Thanks for taking a bad experience and making it good. The burgers were hand made, fries crispy, service was wonderful.
Sugar’s has great food and service. If you are in the mood for a hearty breakfast try the Fantasy Island.
Sugars had a super helpful, friendly bartender who was adorable. Homemade bloody mary mix was good!!! Really good pizza. Great pizza sauce. Probably a local favorite. Lots of great things to look at on the walls.

Sugar’s bar and restaurant is under new management, had a excellent breakfast the owner name unknown was in the parking lot picking up trash from the night before, sounds like she has that old school common sense logic about her. Servers were very nice and knew there menu. Clean property and business usually reflect how a person runs there home also. Thanks for the refreshing new experience.

EXTREMELY busy and noisy. We waited for over 2 hours for our food. Every time I asked the waitress about our order, I was told it was just about up. When I finally got annoyed enough to go to the kitchen to check my order, I was told that they were out of the gyro meat. Would have been nice to know that when Id initially placed my order

Worst service I have ever had!! I was trying this place again, after several years when I said I would never go back. Worst than ever, I would not refer this place to anyone. Stay away!!! The place was not busy, but we waited for 25 minutes just to get menus, it took 15 minutes just to get our first drinks, and at one point I had to go to the bar myself to get a drink. Then when our food was up our server was outside smoking. 3 of the 4 finally got there food, I finally said please make mine to go after the others in our group were nearly done eating and I had not received my food, I ordered a chilli cheese dog, which was the special, that didnt have any cheese on it when I did finally get it. Our server apologized by blaming it all on the kitchen.
Sugars is one of my favorite breakfast places in Council Bluffs. The meats are great. .The bacon and link sausage. No thin bacon here!
Quiet environment with a lot of space. Service was a little slow and the Chicken Philly was mostly fatty chewy chicken. Didnt care for it. Wouldnt go back for the food. They have a pool table and a dual dart board.
Fun neighborhood bar. Bartenders were nice. The waitress (Whitney) was very professional & courteous. Had a nice visit with the owner. She knows how to run a drinking establishment thats for sure! Word is the Biscuits & Gravy are the BEST! Everyone seem to enjoy hanging out at Sugars. I definitely will go back again.
This used to be a good place to eat. Not sure if it was a new cook or what. My rubin tasted like a cheese and sauerkraut sandwich. I would have rather they just told me they were out of corned beef.

The food is decent and the staff is friendly. Pricing is reasonable, but the atmosphere is obviously that of a bar and is dimly lit, which is odd for breakfast - considering it is their most talked about service.
Coming here was an accident.... But the best accident ever! The staff was extremely kind and gave wonderful conversation! Their country gravy was to die for! Ill happily cross the bridge again just for this place!

Im not even from the area, and I got service and hospitality that made me feel right at home. The drinks were exceptionally well made and the food was delicious. Friendly staff, warm atmosphere. Sometimes there was a wait when there were more customers, but nothing enough to cause concern in my opinion, I was never forgotten or anything like that. I came there unknowing what to expect never heard of the place, and I left satisfied.
Sugars is always a great place to get a bite to eat or enjoy a FABULOUS cocktail. The bartender Karen Sue is always providing EXCEPTIONAL customer service!!! Thank you for your hospitality! Well be back.

I has the country fried steak. Pretty good. Small town, not a lot of options, but Sugars aint bad. Should work a little on diversity is all.
Fast and friendly service. Really dark in the dinning area. Could be alot brighter to assist the elderly that have trouble seeing. This place is known for over sized tenderloins and great pizza. Will find a lot of college students here during football season. So expect loudness and dark atmosphere for the bar.

I love this Bar, I go here often and Angel is the best Bartender I have ever met. She is great, she knows her stuff, she is people friendly and very kind to everyone she sees. The owner of the bar is also a very awesome person. They play great music and serve great food and drinks.
The food is great. They may be slow at times but it is worth the wait. For those who were told to keep their kids quiet, it is a place of business and other customers do not want to hear kids screaming. I have witnessed this and parents make no attempt to quiet them. Very annoying.

Our go to for Breakfast! Nice clean atmosphere and service is always on point. Easy to substitute as well. The chocolate milk is made in the cup so I always ask for extra syrup cause I love a double chocolate milk!

There are so many posts on the place about one incident and so many people claiming it happened to them. This place has good food, and a good experience FROM WHEN I WAS THERE. I am not going to pretend anything happened to me or just leave a review because of something I read online. The food here is good!

2 stars because the appetizers were good.The breaded mushrooms, poppers and cheese curds are great.The Swiss mushroom burger was sub par, dry and lacked flavor.The pizza was tolerable.The service was atrocious, had to ask twice for refills, ate most of my meal without a drink. The pizza took a full 35min after everything else was done before it was brought out.Bars that offer food should have good burgers, they just go together and honestly a good burger is simple to make.I have ate here in the past and the was decent not great, I dont know if its a new cook, but I was not impressed.The combination of service, and food quality means this will most likely be the last time I visit sugars.
After seeing how this business owner handled a situation on Facebook, I am amazed at the lack of tact, class, and professionalism that this business owner could display. To smack a table and basically yell at kids is uncalled for. Then to engage and to respond to the negative review in such an unprofessional way is absolutely ridiculous, especially when youre in the service industry. Im sure that any parent can understand that dining out with children is not the easiest of things. Ive never met nor probably ever will see a business handle a situation worse. I mean most businesses/restaurants will go out of there way to ensure every customer has an enjoyable experience to include children. Maybe you should post a sign on the door that states that children are not allowed. If not then you should realize that this is part of the profession you chose to open a business in. Children singing there ABCs while sitting at their table would be the least of my worries. In todays day and age, negative reviews is what will make or break a business. I can guarantee that I will never eat in this establishment or recommend it to anyone.
A dive. Hole in the wall establishment. I posted a review on FB last year and the lady owner began to pm my wife. Was crazy. Food is mediocre. The layout is bad. I wouldnt recommend this place to friends/family. I would go to a cozy neighborhood bar.
Food was so over cooked I could hardly chew it. I only took 2 bites and couldnt eat any more. They charged me full price even when I said it was over cooked and old.
Fine food. Friendly bartenders. Excellent waitresses. What more can you ask for. Oh yeah, reasonably priced as well.

Sat down and was there for 30 min. And no one came over. A couple came in and they went start to them. They pick and choose who they want to serve. Would not recommend.
Its a typical diner experience. The food was good. Nothing outstanding, but nothing to complain about. A nice thing about this place is the space. Some diners feel cramped and like everyone can hear your conversations. You can spread out a bit here as it is a large room.

Drinks are a little pricy in my opinion and the bar staff could learn to be friendlier. But, the atmosphere is great, the food is decent and I love that you can sing kereoke everyday, and they have game nights a few night during the week. Plus my favorite psychic goes there about once a month, lol.

This place has kind of went downhill in my opinion. Used to be my go to place for breakfast and that last few times service has been pretty lousy and the food has been lousy too. Think they have a different staff in the kitchen. Get rid of those plastic sandwich bags holding the silverware too. That’s just weird

Sugars has the best pork tenderloin and Reuben sandwiches in the Omaha Council area. We drive in from Omaha just to have their pork loin or Reuben sandwiches. Great service also.
