WOW! This store is amazing. There actually two levels not to mention the lumber yard. This place has everything under the sun. Its as well stocked as a very large ACE. The people here are super helpful and courteous even when youre going in there to invent something.

They are always helpful and have what I need. The rental department is very good too.

Tools for novice and skilled are right in the department. Assistance to answer your questions and direct you to the proper area and help you find what you need and how and why ITS what you are looking.for. Good experience, knowledgeable sales personnel.

If you stay away from the blonde female manager you would think that they are helpful and caring about your tasks, prices are a bit higher than most hardware stores even ace hardware, which is hard to do.

I was visiting town for Thanksgiving week, and stopped in with my brother and dad to get some materials for a little garage work. The store was very busy, as it was for Black Friday deals I am sure. We did not require any assistance, but I could tell that the staff were very helpful to other customers that were in the store. Well maintained store with plenty to choose from, as I would expect from any True Value.

Seemed to have a wide variety of stock. I was just looking in one section.

I’ve been shopping at Slavens for 8 years and will never step foot inside that building again. Nice folks, but won’t support their complete disregard for public safety during the pandemic. Almost none of their employees wear masks and when they’re helping you they have no regard for social distancing. It’s a bummer, because I love shopping local, but never again.

Shop here near daily. Great people especially the tall guy in the rental area this afternoon. I came in and parked next to a kid sitting in the car next to us alone. Having two children of my own and knowing what people are capable of we sat outside the store to wait for her parent to come.I ended up asking the guy in rental are if he knew about the kid and that I was worried of strangers he said dont worry hell watch the car till a parent shows up. This hardware store used to be the best in town until they decided that they were no longer going to take their customers health seriously. They dont wear masks and they dont stand 6 feet away from patrons. Until they choose to take my/our health into consideration I will not be visiting this store again. Ill vote with my dollars by supporting other businesses in town.Have some class Slavens.

I used to like slavens a lot, but now when I go in there I only noticed one person wearing a mask. The only reason I went in there in the first place was because the other two hardware stores and Big R didnt have what I needed I almost went to Durango to avoid going in your store. I think you can do better at least try this s*** isnt going away until we all are on one platform and wearing a mask is where it starts. When this is all over we wont forget your attitude about the safety of others and ourselves

Used to be a great place to go great service but lately since a change in management not very helpful, service needs some coaching. Went in about a week girl refused to help find the right srew the same I bought about a week before.. ended up going threw box srew by srew to get what I needed.

Masks are not worn nor required. Mentioned it to a manager, he said we don’t have to wear masks. He really developed an attitude, I’ll drive to Durango from now on.

Great little hardware store, have everything you need

By far the best hardware store in the four corners region and its more than just a hardware store. Family owned for over four generations. If they dont have it, theyll get it for you. If you dont know how to use it, theyll teach you. You just dont get that at Home Depot or Lowes. You dont need to look any farther than Main Street Cortez.

Seriously the best customer service out there. Businesses can learn something from this place!

Small but good

We rent with Xtrov and they always send a nice man out with the name of Fred. Hes ALWAYS knows how to fix it, he is always so nice and polite! He will have full personal conversations with you. He doesnt mind you having dogs, he will pet them and talk about how his dog is going to sniff him for an hour when he gets home and he plays. Hes so nice. I cannot comment on how nice this man is!

Usually I dont complain much. However when a customer is looking for some nuts and bolts and a employee is helping this other guy by measuring the bolts and he basically pushed me out of the way with nothing to say to me. Not even an excuse us.

Prices are competitive, sometimes a little higher, often a bit lower. They can expertly cut keys, and are willing to cut pipe or boards for you. They also have a good selection of rental tools and equipment; everything from construction to landscaping, gardening to dancing.One surprise is that they carry an excellent selection of top quality housewares. If you want quality, friendly, helpful service, Slavens is the place to go.

The staff needs some lessons on accepting members of their community. I have paid hard earned $$ there and honestly the whole staff acts like Im bothering them. Its a shame such a small town store be so rude. Im going to a REAL hardware store with smart and courteous staff.Thank you but no thank you.

Bought paint yesterday and it was so runny just couldnt use it. Called slavens and they mixed me a new gallon of paint and it was time for them to go home. Really awesome people. Slavens will be the only hardware store Ill buy from.
