Overall it was decent. Karen was very pleasant but needs a course on customer service. No greeting upon walking in, overcharged our card and we had to ask for an intro on how to use a weapon and it was my friends first time at the range. The other 2 gentleman were very nice and informative. Overall it was ok. I would go to Ballantine for another shooting session instead.
Great indoor range setup here, well managed and ran. A variety of rifles and pistols to rent, as well as a good range to buy. The split between rifle range and pistol range is good and reduces noise. The facilities and service here are top level. If your looking for a daily session or one off with friends and family this is a place worth checking out.
Great group of folks! Highly recommend for anything…buying, transfers, range!
This is my experience today looking for a hand gun. How people can make or break a sale. I went to a different store first to purchase a 9mm hand gun. I was ready with my back ground check paper work in hand as I walked in. There were 3 employees standing behind the gun counter talking to each other. I stood there for a bit waiting and then one of the guys asked if I needed anything. I said I was looking for a SIG 9mm. He told me that they dont have any SIGs and went back to talking to the other co-workers. I stood there looking at the guns in the case for a while waiting for them to finish. I finally gave up. They were not interested in helping me purchase a gun it seemed. I walked to my car and googled guns for sale near me. I drove to The Range at Lake Norman. I walked in and a person told me they would be right with me once they finished helping out someone else. About 2 minutes later he came over and asked what I was looking for. I told him I was interested in a SIG. He didnt have any and offered to order me one. He asked me a few questions and then he pulled out some hand guns for me to look at. He was very helpful and I ended up purchasing a Smithfield EMP4. I love it!! I like the place I ended up at and wont be returning to the other place. I want to thank the professional friendly person who assisted me today!
This was our first time shooting and we had a really fun time! When we first arrived, we were asked to sign a waiver and watch an instruction video. We got to choose the handgun we wanted to try and bought a box of 100 bullets for it. We started out with a .22 caliber. We were then given ear muffs and goggles. I had some trouble loading the magazine or when a shell casing got stuck but the staff was incredibly patient and informative every time I needed help. We wanted something with a little more punch to it so we asked and they let us switch to try a 9mm next! I definitely recommend this place as a great beginners shooting range. I will come back. Additionally, just a little tip for you is to wear clothes to cover most of your body. It was a spur of the moment experience for me so I wasn’t prepared. I was wearing a covering over a sleeveless shirt. One of the casings burned my skin when it came out of the gun after I fired. The staff was nice enough to give me some antibiotic ointment and bandaid.
A place for anyone! love taking the girls here
Buyer Beware! We purchased a Glock Gen 4 G19 on Sunday for $700 only to realize when we got home that it was a used weapon. Talked to Justin today and was told their policy is not to disclose whether a weapon is new or used unless asked. Our bad for not paying more attention and assuming this would be a better experience than the pawn shop. I paid $650 for a NEW Gen 5 G23 MOS at the pawn shop. Go figure. We were looking at membership, conceal classes, etc. Needless to say, we wont be setting foot in here again. I offered to settle for a conceal class on the house to square it up but was told the only option would be to consign the consigned gun we bought. Yeah, right. Were out a few hundred over it. Theyre out much more than that over the long haul. Sad, because we actually enjoyed the range experience there.***Update for Brian***Its not about the gun. Its a Glock. Its about trust, respect, and customer service, none of which are on display here. Seems to be a common thread in your responses to negative reviews. Being argumentative does nothing but make things worse but since you seem more interested in disputing our perceived experience rather than understanding and improving lets continue along that track.I was there at the store, I was there on the phone. Thank you for the detailed description of the layout of your store and signage. Our entire transaction took place at what must be the new gun counter. We never went anywhere near what must be the consignment counter. Maybe you have video footage to dispute that. When we said we were interested in a G19 the gentleman went to the other counter and came back with one. Neither my wife nor I ever heard anything about it being a consignment or used gun.Thank you also for the education on gun price trends. Fact: I can go down the street today and get a brand new Gen5 G19 for $650 with all 3 magazines. As far as the phone recording and what your staff told you well have to agree to disagree. If that was true, we wouldnt be having this conversation. I probably wouldnt tell my boss that I forgot to mention that it was used, either. If something was said, we didnt hear it and certainly didnt acknowledge it. Yes, it is obvious on the invoice which we looked at when we got home. First and foremost? The name of the guy on the phone? Really? Thats definitely more important than the rest of this.As far as the gun never being shot thats a farce. Never cleaned, maybe. I wish I had a picture of the cleaning patches. But hey, its a Glock and its clean now. Thank you for the offer to return it but that wont be necessary. There was nothing forthcoming about this transaction at all. Feel free to carry on the dispute but it will be with yourself. My advice, FWIW: Read some responses from folks who understand customer service. They usually go something like Were sorry for the confusion. What can we do to make it right? No more, no less. No arguments, no debates, no he said she said, no hard feelings.
First time shooters, spent an hour with the wife shooting 100 rounds. We were very nervous at first but the staff was very helpful and instructive. They showed us how to properly handle and shoot our gun and how to stay safe. Definitely recommend to everyone. This will be our go to place for shooting from now on. Very good first experience, Thanks to Brian for showing us how to use our new pistol and the rest of the friendly staff.
This place is located for those of you who are in the Northern areas of Charlotte and surrounding suburbs. This is a newer range but still has a small gun lodge vibe to it. You will feel very comfortable at a place like this if you are a FIRST TIMER! They have a retail area that covers all the bases. The customer service here was great as well.
I cant think of a single negative thing to say about this place! The facilities are modern, organized, and clean. Ive gotten to know nearly all the folks who work there, and every one of them is knowledgeable, helpful, and not just cordial, but truly friendly. Theres a good selection of guns to rent and try, and a good selection of guns to buy---both long guns and handguns, most of the latter being semi-autos, and of course if you want to order something they dont stock theyll help you with that too. (I havent checked prices since I have plenty of my own guns to shoot.) They also stock a variety of shooting accessories -- holsters, night sights, scopes, and much more. I purchased a membership so I can shoot frequently (and I live only about 8 miles away so getting there is quick), and find that the membership is well worth the money. I particularly like the fact that unlike many ranges Ive shot at elsewhere, theres no ticking clock to say times up, thatll be another $15 if you shoot one more round. I recommend The Range at Lake Norman without reservation.
Great local range. Have a few guns on hold and thankful they answered on the 1st ring today. My favorite range to take family and friends
I took three friends that were new to firearms. The staff was very helpful and helped to offer a perfect environment for first time/beginner shooters. I have been to over a dozen ranges and would rank this in the top 1 or 2 out of all 12. Very good place for new and seasoned shooters. The staff took their time and showed my friends several firearms and explained the differences in each very well. I will be returning.
This place is awesome! My fiance and I came here a couple weeks ago for a date. We got the Groupon which was a great deal! We are both in the military so we knew the safety regulations and such but the fact that they made us go through the video and talk through made us feel ever more safe and confident in this place. They are very knowledgeable and are willing to make recommendations if youre wanting to learn how to shoot a new weapon. Overall amazing experience.
I have been going to The Range at Lake Norman for a while now and I have to say it is one of the best places there is. Sam, Peter and Adam make the place so warm and welcoming. Their knowledge and help honestly makes this place that much more fun. I bought my first gun here and having free range time for a month is beyond worth it when buying a gun at their shop. Had a bunch of modifications done to my Glock 19 Gen 5 by Peter and I could not be happier. Tricia and Brian, keep up the amazing work!
I took the conceal carry class. The web page says Concealed carry classes that satisfy the coursework and range requirements for the North Carolina Concealed Carry permit are taught by expert instructors. We offer the only concealed carry class in the state that takes you through the classroom work, allows you to fire in our simulator, and then qualify in a state of the art indoor climate controlled range. We did not use the simulator. When asked, they offered no compensation for this false advertisement. The instructor was creepy to the women in class to the point one just left and didnt finish the class. Very sexist, You shoot like a woman etc. We shot the qualification first and then sat through hours of this is a handgun, and here is how to use it. That makes no sense at all. We were told that they could not afford for us to use up range time, even though we paid $160 which was supposed to include range time. A significant amount of time was spent on South Carolina laws, and the qualification was the South Carolina one not the North Carolina one.
First time shooter and I could not have asked for a better place. Needless to say I felt like a fish out of water when I stepped in, but the whole design is very sharp and well maintained so you feel like youre in good hands. We rented a gun and bought some ammo and were off. Simple process and there was staff that helped when I had no idea what kind of gun I wanted to use. Once I was out there everything felt safe and I had a lot of fun. All the machines worked and I got a lot out of my first time shooting. The price was around $35 for one range split three ways with 100 rounds. A little pricey but 100% worth for a first timer. My one complaint was that my friends and I wanted to see if we could buy bulk ammo to save money but The Range only allows their bullets they can confirm with their guns so that was a no go. Its the only thing from keeping me going back there more frequently.Overall if it is something you havent done before and want to try, I cant picture a better first time experience. And I would think that as a gun owner, this place would be good as well. But as someone who wants to shoot more...but doesnt want to buy a gun I am in a bit of a pickle. Again, though, great place.
I really appreciate the exceptional customer service and friendly environment at The Range at Lake Norman. Previously, I had been shooting at another local range, and I was never really comfortable there. A friend came into town, and we ended up deciding to try The Range at Lake Norman. We were both very impressed! Everything about the experience was just, better! If you or your friends are looking for a place to shoot that offers good value, great service, and awesome accommodations...look no further than The Range at Lake Norman!
Very friendly and helpful. Much better then any gun range iv ever been to before. Many different types of pistols, shotguns, rifles, carbines, and assault rifles. Renting is fairly cheap not very expensive, Prices are very reasonable. Renting a gun is also very cheap and easy. All in all i think this is one of the best gun ranges out their!
From all the shooting range within this area. I found this the most professional establishment. I have try other ranges and does not come close on the professionalism and expertise of the staff. Kind, Friendly, clean, and very knowledge on firearms. Do to this, have joined as an annual full member. They know you by name here when you come often .... it a great place to shoot!!!!!
Nice place with a great selection. Could work on customer service some. Overall great experience.
I just purchased a GLOCK 17. I am new to Charlotte NC so I am checking out all the gun ranges in my area.Note: I have not shot a gun since I was in the Marine Corp 30 years ago. I went in last Sunday 01/29/17 to THE RANGE around 3pm. The place is very nice. Looks very good. On the other hand I stood there looking at the shooters on the lanes for 20 to 30 minutes and notice that the area behind the lines was full of people, joking around and moving from place to place. Did not see any staff members say anything to the people acting this way. Not sure but I would say this is not the place to be joking around. I know this is a place to go and have fun. But you also need to respect other peoples space especially while shooting. I will be returning during the week to see if it was just this day, since it was a Sunday. So I cant give my full rating as of yet. We will see.
Date night started with an hour session in the simulator. Lots of games and situations on the simulator, was a lot of fun. We both a lot of fun and would love to do it again. Facility was very modern and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
This is the best range around! I love going in there because of the entire atmosphere... the beautiful range, the cleanliness, the courteous and professional staff... its the whole package. There is nowhere else I feel this comfortable shooting! Keep up the great work!
My friend took for my first time shooting ever. The range was nicely set up. The people were very professional and friendly. They were very knowledgeable and more than willing to share their knowledge with me. I had an amazing time! Such a wonderful environment!
They nickel and dime you over everything. A horrible experience all around. The service was terrible. No communication on cost, nothing. No explanation. Ask, they cop an attitude.
I decided to investigate this store and found the staff to be friendly, straight-forward and offer suggestions when it would help. I appreciate their help to me as a new gun-enthusiast and were patient and honest with any novice question I asked. I will be a loyal customer with them.
This place is great, clean range, friendly and helpful staff. Lounge is pretty cool as well. They have a good selection of guns for sale.
Hello there my Google Gang. I travel to and from South Carolina a lot and Ive been trying to find a shooting range when Im away from home, and Ive found the perfect SPOT... The Range at Lake Norman.. I will be stopping by soon but, from my understanding this facility is an A PLUS, and thats #1 in my book!!
This is the best gun range Ive ever been to. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They take every precaution for not only their safety for for yours as well. We bought our first gun here about a year ago and now we are regulars. Super impressive.
Super friendly, clean, and always a pleasure to visit. The staff here are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The lanes are always available, and the virtual range offered here is extremely fun! They have a good selection of rentals and are very willing to help you with any questions or assistance you need. I have seen them on several occasions helping customers become familiar with their firearms and help them learn about the safety aspect of the sport.
I was met by Nick from the staff and he was very professional and shared all of the amenities your range offers. The gun selection at your range allowed me to choose from several hand guns to shoot until I had my favorite picked out. All of my questions were answered immediately and while I was looking over your product lines several sales members asked if I needed any assistance and was available for any questions I encountered. The firing range was very clean and a staff member was also present to answer any questions I had during my visit. All in all my experience was very enjoyable and I would recommend The Range at Lake Norman to anyone who is looking for a great place to shoot.Roderick L.
My dad and I always have a great time at The Range. The place is clean and well lit, staff is very cool and helpful, and convenient because I dont have to fight traffic to get there. Keep it up guys, youre doing something right.
Love the Range at Lake Norman! The staff is friendly and always welcoming, willing to answer questions and help you find the best firearm for you and your needs. Its always clean and since there are women that work there, I feel more comfortable going and practicing. The advanced conceal carry classes have been very informative and practical. Go and bring a friend!
Seemed like a great place but no kids under 12 was disappointing. (Which is what I was told when I was there with my kid then, but apparently its 10.)Since writing this review originally Ive been back to shoot a lot by myself and with a friend. The folks have always been friendly and the find and gear they sell are on par with others in the Charlotte area. I would recommend stopping in if youre in the area with your firearm.
Today was the first time I have visited this range. Very clean inside and out. Very professional staffing. Inside range/ lanes are well kept. Nice selection of firearms for sale and accessories within the store area. I recommend you give this place a try for range time. The reason that I gave 4-stars on this review, is because there is always room for improvement. Nice place. Good Job guys.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at The Range at Lake Norman for making our Lock & Load for Land fundraising event a tremendous success. Your beautiful facility provided the perfect location for our competition and your staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful and hospitable. We look forward to returning this coming December 12, 2015 for the 3rd annual event!
Well, i wish i could do a review better than only giving 1 star for this place. at first, this place looks nice and beautiful; and i live in harrisburg NC which required me 35 mins commute to this place. my friend practiced at this place last time and told me that they carry a gun that i am really interested in, then i decided to come on my day off. i called before i come and the lady actually answering the phone told me they dont have that, but i still decided to come check out the range. when i got in i cant believe in my eyes that i saw the gun im interested in hanging on the wall, thats one point. I asked if i could handle the gun, and the lady (i think she was one that picked up phone) gave it to me like whatever, when i handled the gun, i have some questions in mind that i wanted to ask (price, option, etc...) but she did not ask me anything like do you like it or how do you think about this, which most of the gun store they do for customer service (get customer opinion, ask for what they need and help them out). it is a WRONG when my friend said that this range has helpful staff and they really work with customer; i dont think so or maybe my friend is white and i am asian (i hope not); it was so disappointed. this range should improve in customer service like make the clients feel welcoming and attended. p/s: i just called my friend and cancel the plan that we come here together and practice at this range next week.
Went in last night to buy some sights for my Glock. Walked out with a Daniel defense Ar. Nick was an outstanding sale clerk. Made me an offer I could not refuse. I will recommend all military and Law enforcement to drive here. It will be well worth your time.
New place so its clean and pretty modern as far as amenities. Still, shooting is shooting. The lanes are well lit, with a separate room for rifle shooting. Good rental selection and nice shop up front. Staff is knowledgeable.
Very Nice range! County Club feel. I took my wife for our first visit last weekend. After a horrible experience at Shooters Express in Mt Holly(dark, dingy range, rude employees, unsafe conditions, back alley feel, etc), she went reluctantly. Now she wants to shoot on a regular basis! Amazing how her skill level increased due to being comfortable with her surroundings. You owe it to yourself to check this place out. Very friendly staff, good inventory, good price on guns and range time. I didnt price ammo.
Very clean store with a very helpful staff. I however will not shop here just because of the high prices. I looked at several different models and spoke with two of the associates. The associate was very polite and had some good recommendations. I already did research on models and prices so I would know the price market. I am not sure why some of the guns were $100 higher than other gun nearby shops(Hyatt and Eagle Guns to name a few). I did not use the range so I can not speak of it.Bottom-Line, would love to shop here if the prices were on par with the other local shops.
Excellent knowledgeable staff, great selection of guns to try if you dont have your own and they run Groupon deals upon occasion. Women run and the reason I went. I felt very comfortable there.
I spend plenty of time and money at this range. It is spotless and the safety and environmental emphasis is second to none. Not only is it family friendly but seasoned operators can depend on it always being available and operational especially as we prepare for missions. It has a fully stocked pro shop and great bargains. As a full member I receive awesome discounts and anytime I ask for specialized advice I get it on the spot. As a business owner in the area I send many customers of mine here for there CCW and other courses. I train around the globe and this facility is certainly one of my favorites. Great team of experts here!!
Love this place awesome staff !!!
My first visit was excellent. My second visit was the exact opposite. The staff acted like our visit was the most annoying and inconvenient part of their day. When I had a question, the first response was I thought you said youve been here before. I was there with my girlfriend and we both felt very uncomfortable and cut our visit short. Its a shame since I now live just a few miles from the range. Great facility though.
Nice indoor range. Bring your own ammo, the in store ammo prices are ridiculously high. Staff isnt the friendliest, and they usually like to pack people next to each other instead of spreading them out. But one of the few ranges around.
Nick is the man. Very knowledgeable gunsmith. If you have any gun needs or question, I highly recommend to go see him or any of The range at lake norman staff. Everyone is very friendly and will to help out with all of your gun question. 5 STARS!
Dont go here, the owner purposefully tried to mismanage and shut down Denver Defense to get rid of their competition. Hopefully all the fine people there will come together and make something happen but shame on Brian for the shady move in trying to get rid of competition. You are a disgrace to the forearms community sir.
They close way before hours mentioned almost half n hour earlier. Its 7:28 PM now and I was told approximately 5 minutes ago that range is closed.
Very nice range. Friendly staff and top notch range facilities. Definitely coming back for a membership!
I hate to say it, but I did not have a good experience at this range today. First time here, although I have been to several indoor ranges. The range itself was ok, certainly not the cleanest or newest technology, but it worked for the most part. The prices for range time and targets were a little high, but not outrageous. My main issue was the staff. Very disrespectful and condescending to customers. They did not disclose any of the rules of the range prior to letting you shoot. Not the safety rules, they do show a video and its adequate. Im talking about what you can and cannot do on the range.Once you are on the range you are on your own. There is a button to press if you need assistance but no one answers and no one seems to be monitoring the shooting lanes.I had to leave the range and find a staff member to get some help when the automated targets stopped working. Also, they never disclosed that if you shoot their cheap plastic target holder, Even by accident, they charge you 6 dollars for it. When I asked about this, and why no one told me about this prior to shooting, this is when the staff members became very disrespectful and unprofessional. Not to mention that there were some other customers in there who were also rude and disrespectful and the staff did nothing about it. The staff had absolutely no control over their own range or showroom, and no one acted in a professional or respectful manner.Based on what I saw today, this is not a safe place to shoot, and not an ethical business.I would strongly advise you to go somewhere else. There are plenty of other options in the are that are far safer and much more ethical and professional than this place. The maturity level of the staff at a shoot if range should be much better than what I saw today. This place is more akin to a Wild West saloon with immature and irresponsible children posing as responsible range officers.Stay away from this place. There are so many better options in the greater Charlotte area.Update Monday 9/26: I need to give credit where credit is due. The owner of the business posted a response and offered to follow up with me via phone. In his written response he did something amazing, he actually took me at my word and accepted the possibility that something could be wrong on their end.So many times I have seen a customer post a negative review of a business, and someone from the business goes online and starts bashing the customer instead of acknowledging the problem. This was not the case with the range at lake Norman.I called the owner of the range and he was very professional. To his credit, he had already investigated the incident internally, and was waiting for my phone call when I called him. The owner made no excuses for what happened, and made it clear that he would address the issues with the staff. Based on his professionalism and maturity, I believe he will keep his word and do what he said he will do.Bottom line is this. Within the firearms community we are ALL in this together. There are way too many people out there who are against us and against freedom. Responsible gun owners and shooters need to unite together. This can only be accomplished through mutual respect and professionalism. I dont want to see any small business fail, especially because of one or two bad apples. I wish the folks at the range at lake Norman all the best. Just remember, the true test of character is not how you conduct yourself when things are going right, but how well you conduct yourself when things go wrong. Always strive to be the very best professional you can be. Good luck to all of you. Thanks again to the owner for your time and your sincere concern. It truly makes all the difference in the world.
Still trying to figure out how they got my email address since Ive never been here.
Dont be intimidated by their websites pricing and other reviews. 2 people shot an AK47 and AR15 for $70. Will come back
Great location with a very knowledgeable staff. Super friendly and helpful. The range itself is very clean and well maintained. Love this location
Good place to shoot. Some rude staff. Probably will find a different place to shoot. Friend had the same experience with the same guy at a different time.
Was just reminded by an email sent out to me by this range, my terrible experience here. Went into this range a couple of different times and each time I had a negative experience with the staff. I am a female and was interested to know what competitive shooting events they hold at their facilities. The man behind the counter responded to my question but chose to only look at my boyfriend the entire time he talked... completely ignoring me even though I was the one initiating the conversation. I thought maybe it was just a one off bad experience with a man who didnt respect women in the gun industry so I shrugged it off. A few weeks later I went in again with my boyfriend and we decided to rent a gun and purchase some ammunition from the range. Once we began shooting the gun kept malfunctioning and the shells became repeatedly jammed. We asked for assistance two times to which we were helped getting the gun unjammed. The third time the firearm became jammed we went to the rental desk and requested to just use another gun since the one we originally chose was repeatedly malfunctioning. The man behind the desk replied saying that because they dont regularly clean their rental guns that sometimes that happens and that if we wanted to rent another gun we would have to pay full price for another rental.. I was shocked, I couldnt believe that an employee had just admitted that even though they dont maintain their firearms, we would still have to pay full price for another rental. We didnt receive any money back and after carrying on the conversation a few minutes more we chose to leave with out even finishing the bullets we had purchased. After hearing about what the owner did at Denver Defense, my opinion on how terrible the staff at The Range at Lake Norman was finalized. These guys are scum, I would encourage not supporting this business.
Always a good time at The Range at Lake Norman. The facility is clean and well cared for. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks for another great afternoon of shooting fun.
Great people, very knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and very capable of answering any question you might have about your next gun.love the personal attentionKeep up the good work
Went to the range to kill some time while the wife was at her spa appt. Over all, liked the store and range. it is large and modern. Staff is friendly and helpful. At the time I went around 1pm on Saturday, the crowd was light probably due to the good weather outside. I spent about 1 hour shooting around 100 rounds on the pistol range. One oddity which I did not understand. I brought 50 rounds of factory aluminum 45acp and 100 rounds of my reloaded bullets. They would allow me to shoot the aluminum but not my reloads. SO since that would have left me with only 50 shots, O bought some of the range ammo. Guess what? They sold me reloaded ammo! I am not sure if this is typical for ranges to not allow reloaded ammo but seemed strange to allow their reloaded ammo and not allow me to shoot mine. I get that there is added risk when a person shoots reloaded ammo but that is on me.I would shoot there again though.
Great place to shoot with my friends, looking forward to using the spaceous lounge when my company has a ream building event here. Great staff, many rentals and a very modern facility. Will come again!
Very clean with a friendly staff and great selection. Range fees are per day which is really nice.
Very poor attitude from five of six employees over three visits. I just purchased a new 12ga, paid their full retail price in hopes of getting better customer service than buying online. All I got was paying 20% too much and zero how can I help you. If you want to pay retail and feel like you are inconveniencing someone this is your gun shop!
Went to the range on 7-11-19 as a new shooter had a excellent experience from beginning to end very clean place staff very friendly staff walked me step by step in what to do it was well worth the price the range charges
Super helpful people with great selection of firearms and deals. The range is also really nice and convenient for lake Norman area.
I am from out of state. I would say that the I had a somewhat frustrating experience with this range. For starters, the attitude of one of the range officers was of absolute condescension. Had it not been for the gentleman who has checked us out I would have been outraged at this establishment.Secondly, the individual on the phone stated the pricing was 29.00 for two people. This was the ONLY REASON we’ve decided to patron this establishment. However, we were told after we have already started shooting and were ready to leave that it was actually 29.00 per individual. We ended up paying more than half the price had we decided to go elsewhere. The fact that they have a system which requires individuals to pay after using the range rather than showing people what they are expecting to pay for they are robbing patrons of the opportunity to decide what they are willing to pay, therefore a great experience. You are left feeling as if you have just been stuck with a major bill that you didn’t prepare for.I am from out of town and frequent LARRYS, as well as a couple of others. Although some are expensive, you know before hand specifically what you are paying for. You also pay BEFORE you enter the range so there is absolutely no surprise at the end of the day. Finally, regarding this individuals attitude, I was never told that the hangers which hold the targets were supposed to be brought to the front desk after being used. We were told however that if they were damaged we would be charged $6.00 which is still overpriced, but understandable. That being said, when leaving, the person in question asked me where the hanger was. Initially I believed that he was referring to the hanger which was firstly damaged and needed to be replaced. This was not the case. He was referring to the new hanger replaced by the damaged one. I told him of its location and with this disdain and condescending tone he stated “go back and get it”. Mind you I am a full grown adult and this tone was indicative of that not being the case. Mind you, this is after we have already left the range location, taken our hearing protection off and were already paying for their service. This man also had his own hearing protection still on.What he should have done was inform us of the descrepency and proceeded to get the hanger rather than have someone who is the guest put their equipment back on just to get a hanger. He also should have/could have taken another approach. Customer service is still important and this person FAILED!Now I will be fair and say the individual whom checked us out, who was an older gentleman was very kind, and understanding of my frustration. He did state that they would communicate with the team. I want to than you sir for that understanding. That being said, and finally...The pricing was expensive and was completely unexpected, especially for someone who frequents ranges from out of town. I believe their payment system needs to be updated which would bring in more satisfied customers.Had it not been for the gentleman who checked me out I would absolutely tell you to avoid this establishment. However, because of the gentleman who checked us out I will simply say proceed with caution. Make ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WILL BE PAYING IN TOTAL before you patron this establishment
Very helpful and friendly staff, especially the manager. Wheelchair accessible also.
Really enjoyed myself the staff was great it was a gift for my husband in our anniversary and the first time at a range to shoot great place will go back at least once a month for the sport of it.
All these bad reviews are incorrect. Me and my husband came by yesterday and the staff was super helpful. I will definitely be back.
Took the new fire class at the range last night and it was very informative. The instructor was excellent and gave us some great tips on handling and cleaning our weapons.
This was my first time going to the range and the process was quick and everyone was friendly!!! Thanks and see you the soon!
I enjoyed and got a lot out of the concealed weapons skills class tonight. Thanks. See you again soon.
Great staff, always friendly and there if you have any questions. Recommend this place to anyone!
The Range at Lake Norman is the cleanest and most technically advanced shooting range and gun store in the State of North Carolina ! the staff is friendly and pleasant to deal with....Well worth the visit !!
Loved the range....great setup, staff is nice and helpful, safety #1 priority.
Nice range, staff was friendly. Good selection of guns and accessories.
I have been here a few times and have always left frustrated. This place is very, VERY expensive. Every time I have been at The Range at Lake Norman it has cost me at least $1.00 per minute. They charge $25.00/hr + extras + extra person fee (if you bring someone with you, whether they shoot or not) +tax which has ended up costing me $1.00/minute. Membership fees are exorbitant, and they act as if they are doing you a favor by charging you a little less if you are a veteran, but either way it is very expensive. Not satisfied at all!!!! Wish I knew where an outdoor range was located. Even if I had to become a member of a shooting club I would do it so I could quit going here. They kind of have you over a barrel and they know it.
THIS RANGE WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO PICK UP YOUR BRASS... I was at the range on 3/28/15 which was a Saturday. I have been here plenty of times before but this time I was told Im not allowed to pick up spent brass from ammo that I brought with me. I do not reload but I do save my brass incase I ever start reloading or just decide to sell the once fired brass to fund more ammo purchases. Before I posted this I reached out to the owner, Tricia Sisson. She was kind enough to reply back to me and basically said that they sell customers brass to recoup costs. Shooters that save brass are losing out by going to this range due to the no picking up brass policy. It doesnt seem like this policy is going to be changed anytime soon unless they start losing business to ranges that allow you to pick up your brass.I also go to Eagle Gun & Range in Concord, NC and they do not have any such policies in place. In fact I was told as long as the brass is behind the firing line your free to pick it up. In the future I will be going to Eagle Gun & Range where I can take home the spent brass that I paid for.I do not have any problems with The Range at Lake Norman or its employees, just a few of their policies. I dont believe anyone has the right to tell you that you cant pickup what is already yours but it is their place of business and therefore their rules. We have a choice on where we decide to shoot.
Awesome space, has great pricing, and staff is always in a good mood! My friends and I go as often as we can!
Owner here tried to buy and shut down his competition. Stealing all he could from the denver defense range before backing out at the last second from the purchase.. Do you wanna support that?
I would rate this 0 if I could. I have been in several times to browse and purchase some magazines for my sig handgun. The prices are ridiculously high. Ammo prices are a joke and the guy there talked down to me the whole time when I asked questions. Ive lived in cornelius for 32 years and looked forward to having a cool gun store. This is definitely not the one for me. Ill stick to Eagle Guns in concord and their range. They let u bring your own ammo and dont cater to the rich IMO.I dont recommend this place at all.Ryan
Great range. Clean and friendly service
Helpfull staff and decent range prices
Went to this range to transfer a handgun to someone who was buying it from me. While i was waiting i saw a glock 19 that caught my eye and asked if i could check it out. I got to give the firearm my once over and asked how much, the sales person answer 649. 649 for a block 19 in what world do these guys live in! I asked him if he was serious and he said yes thats what we pay from glock for this firearm……WTF! I said to him come on man you know these go for 500 to 550 all day why are you over pricing so high after calling them out on there price they wouldnt do my transfer for me and the fat dude was rude to me the rest of my time there after calling them out on there price. NEVER GO HERE OR SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE TOTAL RIP OFF!
Best range in NC! Great gun selection and helpful staff!
Great facility, great staff, use the video targets and the simulator for some great fun!
After getting my CCW permit, it was time to look for a handgun . . . my first purchase, I knew, would be a Springfield Armory 1911 Range Officer - because Id shot it at a friends house and really liked it ( and who could go wrong owning a 1911 ? ). The Range at Lake Norman had the gun NIB at the store, by the way, the range is a VERY NICE, pretty new building that makes the visit very pleasant.First, my visit to the range was to take advantage of their shoot a caliber night, where you can shoot any and all of the rental guns at the store - I misunderstood that this night was actually the 40 night ( and I really wanted to shoot the 45s ). They were most understanding, and they let me change to accommodate my desire - that is a great example of catering to you public. The cost included, a box of ammo, lane fees, a target, and the ability to select ( and shoot ) any of the guns that they have on rental - I personally shot 10 different 45s.We worked out an agreeable price on the Springfield 1911, and they even credited me the fees for the shoot a caliber that were not ammo related ( again, great customer service ). However, in the process of shooting all the 45s, I mentioned that I really liked the look and feel of the Kimber 3 - as a possible conceal carry gun. They informed me that they had one on consignment . . . and I took the time to examine the one they had on consignment - it looked almost brand new !Headed home with my Springfield, with the Kimber on my mind . . .That didnt last too long, was back at the Range later that evening, with my Springfield, and my interest in the Kimber . . . got a box of ammo, a lane, and a target . . . and put 50 rounds through both guns. Loved them both ! Needless to say, I counter offered on the Kimber and proceeded to walk out the door with both guns. All of the staff at The Range at Lake Norman are very friendly, easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable - the whole experience was great. Oh, and after shooting both of the guns, they then proceeded to walk me through the entire breakdown and cleaning process for both ! This is a service that they provide for all purchases - and a free month membership to become familiar with your new purchase.
The Pros:Extremely clean facility. Great location. The Cons:Very overpriced compared to many other LGSs in the area. Their customer service is very lacking to be polite. Staff seems bothered by assisting customers/questions and come off as very egotisitcal, condescending and down right rude. Dont even dream of calling them to see if they have a gun in stock as I have been run off the phone multiple times because they were busy. That was 3 gun sales they lost as I went right down to Hyatt after calling them and they confirmed they had what I wanted. Their range pricing is ridiculous, dont even get me started on that one. As a gun owner/operator for the last 20 years this place is in my top slot for LGS to avoid at all costs. One of the owners is very polite and friendly but her husband is absolutley a detrament to the business as he is not.
FFL transfer was outrageous my fault for not checking but the manager had no interest in finding a solution. More of a take it or leave it attitude . Will not be going back .
Wonderful and friendly staff with an easy going and welcoming atmosphere.
Don’t say your open until 6 if you show up at 5 and your turned away.
