Too many cheeses to choose from, but the service was extremely helpful in pointing out cheeses that would be a good fit for what I like. Its a shame theres no sampling, but understandable. Ive never been disappointed by any type of cheese Ive purchased. Today I found a crystalline Gouda that is just excellent.
This shop has great service and a wonderful deli selection, but the reason for the three stars is for their pricing structure on sandwiches. Get this, the way they price their amazing sandwiches is BY THE POUND. Yes, you heard correctly. So I didnt know this little fact (even though it is printed on their menu board and their printed paper menu, I just wasnt paying attention) and I ordered a turkey avocado club sandwich. It was prepared by an enthusiastic and friendly deli attendant, and when he finished wrapping up the sandwich he placed it on the deli scale and it weighed about 1.4 lbs.. which meant my sandwich cost about 15 dollars! I was a little shocked but paid for it and went on my merry way. The problem with this pricing model is that the ultimate price of the sandwich is decided by the skill of the deli attendant to measure out ingredients and try to get it as close to one pound as possible so the pricing is not so high on any single sandwich. And every time you order a sandwich the price is definitely going to be slightly different. Just a strange way to price things. The sandwich was very tasty and of high quality, But probably wont be going back again for sandwiches.
If I had to describe heaven on Earth, it would look pretty similar to The Concord Cheese Shop.When you walk in, there is a whole counter top and fridge full of all the types of cheeses one could ever want to sample. To the right are shelves full of wine, specialty teas, and all the snacks and accompaniments you’d want. In the back corner, there’s a deli counter with sandwiches and salami.If there’s a lot of people, the process is you take a yellow ticket and wait to be called up to get serviced. If you don’t need anything cut or portioned, you won’t need a ticket.I ended up spending about $100 for two bottles of wine ($6 each from Portugal), 6 cheeses, cashews, salami, and amazing customer service. It’s a little pricey, but you pay for the quality of the cheeses, well worth it, especially since you get to sample the cheeses before you get them. Sometimes the people at the counter will cut too much and will share some with other people. But all the staff are wicked knowledgeable on the cheeses so just share some things that you’re looking for and they’ll give you some ideas of what to get!It can be quite busy around the holidays (especially when I went 3 days before Christmas), so make sure you’re not in a rush. Parking can be tricky since it’s in Downtown Concord, but there’s a ton of street parking in the area.I hope you enjoy this shop as much as I do!
I have known Peter Lovis for as long as he has owned the Concord Cheese Shop. He is a passionate person about all of the aspects of the shop, which includes cheeses from all over the world, fresh breads, fresh take out foods spices, teas, wines and beer,,,, only the most interesting ones. I walk by almost daily and the shop is busy. So I want to relate my latest from about 26 years of visits. I went to LSE in London and traveled throughout England. I came from Wisconsin and we know cheese, the Wensleydale and Cotswold Cheese that Peter carries is truly authentic and best you can get on this side of the Atlantic. I love the shrimp salad which has large shrimp in tarragon creme, and a favorite golden beet salad to die for!! Yes, it can (does) get insanely busy at lunch, but the all-star deli team rocks it out! What Tom below took for rudeness is most likely extreme concentration under pressure. One of Concords true gems, may it shine forever!

Upon entering the store my spouse and I were greeted by a severely rude owner. He immediately critiqued the way we sanitized our hands, I politely informed him that we sanitized prior to entering, as well as sanitized when the owner requested. The owner made us uncomfortable, following us around and kept telling us that if we touched our masks we would have to re-sanitize. After following us for 3 minutes, My husband said lets just leave. He should be wearing a hazmat suit!
Great cheese, moderate prices, (at times) rude staff. I am always uncomfortable when I’m in here due to the unfriendly atmosphere.

Visited about 2 weeks ago (on a cold and windy day) and received the rudest, most unwelcome reception ever upon entering the store and being informed of their Covid-19 restrictions.“Must wear mask when entering store.Must remove glovesMust sanitize hands.If you touch your mask while in the store, you must return to the front to sanitize your hands.You can’t touch anything in the store with your gloves on.”The way the clerk explained the restrictions was excessive, rude, fanatical.Our small group started to browse around the store and we felt like we were being hounded by the clerk, who continued to make comments about their Covid-19 restrictions.We felt like it was a major inconvenience to the clerk for us to be there.Exasperated by the rude treatment, we decided to leave.We regularly patronize numerous local businesses and none, not a single one, are as downright rude and totalitarian with their Covid-19 guidelines.It was an unpleasant, abrasive experience and we will not be returning.
Expensive, but delicious cheeses and charcuterie. The best Ive had in New England. I go for special occasions.

Nice curation of wines you wouldnt normally find from wine regions all over the world. For a moment you forget youre a shop and feel like are in someones personal cellar! The cheese selections are also just as intriguing.
Gem of a place in downtown Concord.Sure. Come for the cheese. The excellent, various cheese. And talk to someone behind the counter who will steer the adventerous Stilton lover to the Cabrales, or the timid Cheddar buyer to the mild funk of the Crucolo. Then wander the small but well curated wine selection, the tasty preserved meats and sweet European treats, and pick from a basket of breads. Or get the busy deli department to make you a sammich.Then head back to your safe and happy place, your purse lighter, your step springy with anticipation, and enjoy.

The Concord Cheese Shop has the most professional and knowledgeable staff. We especially want to thank Steve with whom we had a virtual wine and cheese tasting once before. For this event we placed an order for a family party and Steve made a video to accompany fifteen wonderful cheeses. The video provided the family with such insight and learning about the cheese makers and cheese at large. This was a great way to enjoy good cheese and learn a great deal. Thank you to the staff for great cheese and great narration!!(The wine in pic is not from the cheese shop, but they have excellent wines). Celiac friendly and safe in terms of gluten free practices.

Try the parade cheese! So tasty to snack on as well as cook with. The staff here is very friendly and very approachable. So easy to talk to and they love helping you find what youre looking for . The prices are fantastic and they pretty much have anything youre looking for. I love that the staff explained what youd wanna cook with versus what youd want to enjoy eating by itself. We will be back to continue trying new cheese.
Very good product, but who appeared to be the managers we’re certainly not gracious and a bit mean spirited. The staff behind the deli were wonderful. We have noticed this for years but today finally got to us.
With the addition of the new grocery store near the right aid, this place is rendered almost completely useless. The owner is a rude jerk and hasnt changed a thing in the overpriced low quality store for 15 years due to lack of competition, Thank god the new grocery place has a wonderful deli counter, AND nice staff. Politeness goes a long way!
One of the best cheese shops anywhere! Plus, one of the most delicious lunch options in downtown Concord from this secret deli in the back of the shop! Pro tip: arrive at 11 AM to get your made-to-order sandwich & sides before the large midday rush. Also, GET A CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE! (If there are still any left by the time you arrive.) And if it’s nice outside, I’d recommend taking your lunch back out for a picnic. To supplement fresh deli options, they also have European goodies like Toblerone chocolates and British teas. Oh, and all the cheese is incredible. Obviously :)
Whilst visiting from London, my girlfriend was keen to show off the local areas surrounding Lexington and this was a venue we came to for lunch.It’s a good deli that sells sandwiches and soups, fine wines and most obviously, Cheese. It is a fantastic mix of European and some American cheeses (from Vermont and California if I recall).This cheese shop’s wide range is amazing and I imagine a great deal of effort has gone into sourcing them.The staff have a good knowledge about the cheeses so you won’t go wrong with any recommendations.Next time we are back, I’ll have to check out the equally extensive wine range when looking for gifts!

Doesnt get better than this. The best cheddar in the world (Ford Farm), amazing selection, great wines, wonderful deli, both high end and moderately priced. Want a sandwich? Its the most bang for buck, say the locals who work in the town centre. And at slack times, youll learn a lot, if you like foodie conversation with staff.
The same charming local deli, cheese and wine shop its always been. The inviting smell of the place hasnt changed in decades. Sandwiches from the back counter are plated up on delicious bread that really puts things over the top. My only complaint is that given the pick-a-number system for ordering a sandwich or ordering from the cheese counter, there can be longgg waits just to pay for a simple item from the shelves. A more streamlined checkout system would be appreciated, but if youre in a rush to begin with, this isnt the place for you.

If you ever get the pleasure of visiting Concord, go to this shop. The staff is very friendly and educated. The most delicious section of cheese I have ever seen, an amazing deli, and a very wide variety of wine, this place will not disappoint. If only I had a shop like this in my town.
Yummy. Ive never had a problem with lunch here ever. Pleasant selection of sandwiches, deli salads, dessert, and cold beverages from the cooler to wash it down. Cozy wood corner to eat in with plenty of wine books to read so you can show off at the next wine tasting.

I found this wonderful shop about a year ago and have been back quite a few times. Every time the staff has been extremely friendly, welcoming, and excited about sharing their cheese knowledge! Thanks to Concord Cheese Ive certainly been able to expand my cheese own cheese palette and always leave with something new. I highly recommend this wonderful cheese shop right off Rt 2!

OMG. Found this delightful place while visiting the US (from Australia) and travelling through MA. Such great cheeses, amazing service and knowledge about this fine craft. I simply told them what types of cheeses appeal to me and after some samples, walked away with some of the best cheeses I have ever encountered. HIGHLY recommend this business. Wish it was in Melbourne. Also - if you havent tried their truffle honey, then do yourself a favour and get it and drizzle on a cracker with any one of their cheeses. YUMMMMMMM

If you are anywhere near Concord this is a must stop. The cheese selection is huge, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable, and the experience like no other. Add in a well curated selection of wine, craft beer/cider, fine foods and Phils fabulous sub... Its all youll need.

Of all the specialty cheese/gourmet shops Ive visited in New England, this is far and away the best. You take a number, and when it comes up you have the full attention of your cheesemonger until you have everything you need. They are only focused on you. You can sample anything and everything in the cheeses, and Ive made more than a few discoveries. They have all kinds of European cheeses. Do not leave without a container of their mixed olives. We live in NH, and this is a semiannual pilgrimage for us.

The Cheese Shop makes some really good sandwiches. Phils Phabulous truly lives up to its name. Nice selection of specialty items, too. On Saturday afternoons there can be a long wait, but its worth it. My only complaint is that they are closed on Sundays!

Love the Concord Cheese Shop. Can get very busy, and for good reason, the selection is amazing and when it is your turn to sample and order you are given exclusive attention so that your selections are what you want. Highly recommend if you love cheese or want to learn a bit about what you like.

This is one of my favorite places to eat lunch in Concord. They have a wide variety of cheese, wine from around the world, and sandwiches. Their tuna sandwich is my favorite!
The sandwiches here are absolutely fantastic; especially the Di Prestia. They also have a great selection of pre-made food (the stuffed grape leaves are delicious). I also love the cheese selection; they have something for everyone, including some nicer expensive cheeses, and then some basic ones that are more affordable. They are closed on Mondays, which Ive forgotten several times until I drove over and saw the sign...so dont make that mistake.

Pomous staff and expensive products is what my experience was all about. But if your not going for the customer service and money is no issue and all you want is amazing cheese then this is your place.

Concord Cheese shop wins all sorts of prizes for their cheeses. I dont care that much about cheese, but I love their charcuterie (mortadella with pistachios! Bresaola! French ham!), their sandwiches, and their prepared foods. I always take a Phils Phabulous with me on the plane when I take the redeye to London--far superior to airline food! I cant afford a first-class seat, but Ive got a first-class dinner.
