This Japanese-oriented market is extremely clean and well-organized, with very polite and helpful staff. Their selection of fresh fish is outstanding, and the cuts are both superb and beautifully presented. They have a wide variety of both instant and premade foods, as well as enough staples to stock a well-rounded pantry. For this gaijin, Tensuke Market is a Japanese remix of a well-stocked local store, with really tasty take-out treats. I cant be in this part of Columbus without stopping. As a bonus, its the only place I can find BlackBlack chewing gum, a peppermint flavor bomb if you like *strong* freeze your nose hair peppermint!
Tensuke Market its right in the heart of a miniature group of businesses that emulate a Japanese street. There is a Bakery, Belles Bakery, a Sushi restaurant inside Tensuke Market and a noodle shop beside it. There is also a store behind it selling goods from Japan. A delightful way to spend part of any day and explore a different culture through food and being immersed within Japanese culture.
This store has a good selection of all of the Japanese grocery staples, but the main reason we came was for the tasty prepared foods. They had several fridges of sushi, rice bowls, traditional bento boxes, desserts, etc. Unfortunately I only got one picture of one of the fridges because I was too busy trying to decide what I wanted! The sushi had very fresh rice and super fresh, creamy fish. Wish we lived around here so we could get it more often!
The BEST in everything! We shopped at Tensuke Market many times, always a good experience!First time during lunch time...Even better than dinner time! 💕A great variety of sushi, and lunch options.Always very nice service, people are kind and helpful, good fresh quality of food!Perfect for lunch break!Children can also find little treats from their favourite animes! 😉
Very busy market . They are always stocked . Fast checkout even though there is always a line . The store is on the small side but has a very good selection. They also carry belles bakery items and meals from the restaurant.
If you are looking for authentic Japanese ingredients, look no further! I also visited Tensuke Express two doors down. The curry bowl with breaded pork cutlets was delicious. If nearby, give them a try!
A very, very good market to pick up most anything for your Asian recipes. And an amazing selection of fresh sushi. Visited on a Saturday, and the market was busy, but still an efficient visit. We will be back!
This place is very well laid out and easy to navigate around. The sushi bar and the noodle shops food is very fresh. The market itself has wide array of items from japan and other Asian countries that very unique and tasty. The little gift shop has some very unique items for stuffed animals to skin care products. All the staff are very friendly and helpful when for looking items. The bakery has some of the best tasting cake, bread and pastries in town. I would highly highly highly recommend coming here with family and friends to have a very enjoyable time and experience a taste of another life style without having to make a trip around the world.
Probably my favorite place in the city. Amazing Japanese market place with specific items you on only get here. Great prices on sushi and any meal. Lots of variety with other dishes as well. A must go if youre in Columbus
Cute store filled with as many authentic Japanese brands and items as its size allows. They carry local eats from the nearby Belle’s Bakery and sushi restaurant, which is quite clever! Allows shoppers to really enjoy an experience similar to Japanese convenience stores, just in the middle of Ohio. The selection isn’t very big and the items are pricey, especially the home goods. Overall, a fun place to visit, though I wouldn’t often grocery shop.
Best selection and reasonable prices. Seafood is so fresh.Akai Hana restaurant and Belles Bread are part of the same complex and makes it so worthwhile for our trip from Cleveland to Columbus.
Closest thing to an authentic Japanese market outside of Japan. Lots of selection, fresh sushi, baked goods, etc. Lots of rude customers but thats not the stores fault.
Nice friendly place to shop nice mixed culture of people good selection of different culture food
So happy I found this amazing place.I highly recommend going here lots of amazing food
My wife and I went to get hard to find items for Japanese cuisine. The store was clean and had a good selection, and dinner was delicious!
Most authentic sushi in Columbus by a long shot. If youre looking for authentic, amazing sushi is worth going out of your way to stop here.
Clean and organized, if a little tightly laid out compared to chain grocery stores. Great selection of snacks.
A weekend treat to visit for my family! Always great to find fresh fish, pickup some beautiful vegetables, lovely sushi and Japanese dishes at a reasonable price (for the quality!). 🤓
A busy Japanese market and adjoining sushi takeout offers ready made lunch items, or the ingredients to make your own. They have a good selection of sashimi quality seafood, rare produce like dried persimmons, rice, teas, mochi, seasonings and condiments. Great place.
Alot of fun to visit, wish the restaurants opened earlier.
Love shopping at this market. They have everything you need to prepare your Japanese meals, You need to open your next location in Northern Kentucky or Lexington please there are a Lot of Japanese in this area and Asians it would be awesome if you opened here 😊 Love your store Bakery Gift store,,,,,,,,,,,
Awesome store. Great pre-made sushi. Skip kroger and fusian and get it here. They supply akai hana and sushi 10 with their fish.
I love this place. My partner and I come here at least once a week and we recommend it to everyone.
Always amazing to visit, super happy they had ramune in stock because its somehow super hard to find in stock in other markets that sell it. super nice music playing that doesnt overload my senses while Im looking around.
Great little market. They have a lot of asian food but not quite everything you might need but they have a lot. There also a bunch of fun little shops that sell souvenirs and a fantastic bakery. They also sell sashimi grade fish so if you ever are trying to make your own sushi you can get the fish you need from here. Great place to explore and grab a bite to eat.
Favorite Japanese market in the state. Weve driven up from Cincinnati just to go to this market and the surrounding Japanese stores.
Just the best. The best selection of every frozen, fresh, handmade, pantry, and specialty goods you could possibly want. The fresh foods they make are amazing and the sushi is to die for. Plus an unbeatable selection of sake!
A bit crowded due to space but I love the variety of groceries and different snacks, utensils, etc. that they carry. They even hold cake slices from the bakery next door so you can try it and its delicious 😋My family and I come here very often and love the authentic feel of it being a local japanese grocery store 👍
Best market for sushi in Columbus. Full stop. They have great service. If you are an adventurous food eater, find something new at Tensuke!
We have been enjoying, Chinese, Korean, and most recently Japanese cuisine. Tensuke has a wide variety of food, candy, drinks etc.
I visit atleast once a week. Best store sushi in town 💯💯💯but there is so much more than just the sushi. Check out ALL the areas. Frozen meats and seafood are amazing.
Great Japanese market with lots of options. The produce is well prepared. The sushi is fresh and tasty. The service is wonderful.
The fish is pristine. There is no better place in Columbus, or even Ohio for that matter, to get the best, most fresh seafood. The sushi is enough to make you want to eat it for lunch every single day.
Ohh man what a great experience! I was shopping for sushi and making sushi for the 1st time and the person that check me out recognised I was missing rice vinegar. She took the time to find me the proper ingredient so that I wouldnt have a big sushi mistake.Thank you Tensuke Market!
The market has a variety of sushi items, snack items and drinks.Along with the market, there is a bakery, restaurants and a novelty shop.Definitely worth a visit. My family goes at least twice a month.
My family loves the party platters. Seafood is fresh and sushi well prepared.
Store has a good selection of items and the staff members are friendly. This is a good place to visit for various Japanese items.
Super busy today, with a long line out almost to the bakery. That noted, the staff kept people moving quickly through checkout, while keeping the number of customers inside the store at a certain level, keeping a queue outside like I noted above. This store has the best selection of Japanese foods in the area, plus the bonus of a few restaurants and stores within the plaza, makes this place awesome!
Must stop when in columbus! Great market! Very busy on weekends but worth your time! Ready to eat meals and sushi!
Wonderful lunch and grocery stop!!I had the Dynamite Salmon Don, Ika Fry and the Sakura & Kashiwa mochi. Reasonable if not cheap prices for the already made food !! If you’re in the area definitely check out this place and get some food!! They also sell seeds for growing less common veggies so I stocked up!
Tensuke has always been great quality and has been taking Covid Safety precautions really seriously. You may have a little of a wait right now but it is worth it. Its a great place to also sample some of the other small businesses such as Belles Bread, Tensuke, And Sushi-Ten as there are always products from those places available in their store.
Excellent selection of Japanese groceries and kind staff.
A wide selection of sushi rolls and boxed meals. A bit pricey though.
This is a Columbus staple, if you are local or from out of town you must come here and try out the entire area really. I’ve been going here since I was 10 and I really adore that nothing much has changed except for the Decour getting really pretty over the years. Me and my boyfriend try to go here at least once a month!
One of the best stocked Asian market in Columbus specializing in Japanese food.
I love this place, and the workers are so very nice. their selection is good too.
One of the best markets in Columbus. Get there early for the Onigiri, which is hard to find. Plus so many different types of Onigiri. Great selection of sauces, fish, and everything you need
Amazing variety, love that the music is very calm and doesnt overwhelm me
Good place to get authentic Japanese products.
If you want to experience the fresh Japanese 🍡 food has to offer then come visit. Trust me, youll be back.
This place has amazingly cute Japanese shops that has a bakery, little grocery, and trinket shop. The restaurant is awesome too!
Always a good place to get sushi and fresh food!
A great place to go.
Great selection, friendly staff, and very clean. Never buy dried mushrooms at Whole Food ever again. The ones here are significantly cheaper and better. Also love that you can buy sushi grade fish here to make your own. They also have a well stock section of premade sushi and bento boxes from the near by restaurants. Its a great place to buy specialty asian ingredients, grab a quick lunch, or pick a few last minute vegetables for dinner. The store is small but it has pretty much everything anyone could need.
Amazing. But please, no gaijin.
Limited selection but very high quality products. Will return for sure.
My goto place for specific items. If you want rice balls, get there when they open.
It was very good! I feel like these are more of like comfort food, nonetheless it’s very good.
Amazing place! Finally a place I can go to get ready japanese groceries!
Love their sushi!! The spicy shrimp sushi is the best.
So clean and organized. Staff are wonderful.
I would live here if I could. Just live in the store.
I love the food and people there
Lots of spices and sauces, not a lot of produce. Nice employees.
My girlfriend and I love experiencing new cultures and foods. This market is a perfect place for that. So many traditional Japanese foods and brands. Everything was easy to find and even though most packaging is in Japanese there is always a small English sticker that allows for easier recognition of items. I am writing in 2020 and happy to report an abundance of hand sanitizer is available for customer use. You are also encouraged to bag your own groceries in order to limit possible contamination.
Favorite place in Columbus, OH to get my groceries - makes me feel like I’m back in Japan :)
Great place to go in a pinch but not alot.of options here. Still I will be shopping here, especially for the premade bentos and sushi
Great place to pick up fresh seafood or a quick boxed lunch.
The best place in town for sushi/sashimi supplies!
Cool little market. I like all the options they have here and service is quick.
Best market. Japanese everything. So sugoi.
What a great variety of Japanese food and products! We love coming here and never know what we will find and try. Take a break from the usual and find your fresh and imported food in this unique shopping center.
The best store
Great set-up. Easy enough to get around. Dont think that this is a small place, its definitely a grocery store. Great selection, friendly staff. Easy enough to get to.
Good prices and excellent selection
This is one of my favorite marketplaces in Columbus
