So happy we have a local vintage shop in town! These are all pieces made before 1990 and organized by period and style. The owner and shop clerks are all knowledgeable and friendly. I came in hoping and walked out with exactly what I needed.
If you want good quality vintage clothing that will last for a few years, you need to go to The Alley Vintage and Costume Shop in Columbus, OH. Yes, it is a little pricey but it is honestly worth it. With the variety they have, you can make alot of different costumes and some styles of cosplays too. They have excellent customer service and will help you find exactly what you are looking for. I cant wait to see you guys again!🤩😍😊P.S. They have an Etsy store too. And remember they are VINTAGE which means some of the outfits only come in certain sizes due to the sizes worn in that specific time period.
Lots of great old things, but the prices are kind of insane. So if youre looking for a costume here, it will definitely be authentic and amazing quality, but youll be dropping at least $200 for a outfit top to bottom. Amazing quality though for the age of the clothes
Has some really cool and unique items I cant wait to come back when I actually have money!
Awesome customer service and great options! The guy that helped me knew where everything was, and had lots of suggestions! Highly recommend
The staff here is so helpful and they have a wide selection for such a small space. Will definitely visit again and again.
The guy that was working there was super helpful and he made my experience and shopping really fun
Owner was super helpful and all staff was very friendly, store has so much cool vintage clothing
If you need steampunk, Renaissance, 1900’s styles, GO HERE!! The quality of the clothing is great and so are the prices. The owner could not have been more helpful from the time we entered to the time we left.I’ll definitely be going back :)
What a great shop. The guy who worked there was so fun. We bought some silly things but had a blast!
Exactly the type of small business/establishment that any 1 person should be pleased to support. I found the Owner along with her son extremely professional, polite & easy to talk with. All while adding a unique & charming touch to the community.
Amazing selection of everything you need from-head-to-toe, no matter what era youre looking for, even steampunk : D. Kit and all the staff are extremely helpful! Top notch service!
Great selection of costumes. Very helpful staff.
This is a really nice shop with great pieces! It is a bit expensive but that’s part of buying quality vintage. They also have a little card you can stamp each time you spend above $40! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the man at the shop was wearing a very thin fabric mask that was obviously not appropriate for keeping customers safe, and there was a few times where he got within a foot of me while I was shopping. These were probably just thoughtless mistakes but I’d love to see more concern over covid and making sure to keep a nice bubble from customers :-)
The Alley owner and employees are so knowledgeable and helpful when looking for costumes, especially for theater and musical shows. This company has supported the Arts for years!
Always love a trip to The Alley
Excellent selection! A very cool set of costumes that can be used for a wide range of events and outfits. We even found a few nice formal pieces in there! The staff can be a bit overly friendly at times, which might make some uncomfortable, but they were helpful and constantly checking in.
Great selection. Its the only place around that youll find some things. And its not just a bunch of cheap kids costumes. Note, all sales are final (no returns).
Aidan is so helpful
I always go to The Alley when I have costume needs. On my visit today, Kit helped me pick out a costume when I couldnt find one that fit me (size 12/14 struggles) and ended up purchasing an adorable Kikis Delivery Service outfit. Her prices are just as affordable as Amazon but with the added benefit of supporting a local business that actually cares about their clientele rather than a huge corporation that sees their clients as dollar signs and nothing more. If I could rate 10 stars I would.
Its ok. Some pieces are a tad overpriced so keep an eye out. The woman who owns the shop is nice, helpful, but if youre an introvert she could come across as very in your face. The son also helps. Hes very nice as well. Only bought one dress from there as thats all you really can afford if youre just looking and not shopping for a school play or something specific.
Very good customer service as soon as you walk in the door. The clothes are vintage and the sizes are not the same as todays standard sizing. The owner explains what the sizes are and where all the different areas from steam punk and pirates all the way to 1950s dresses and flower child attire. definitely recommend going even if its just to look around might find must have peices
Awsome sauce
Wow! Talk about variety and style! This place is FUN! You should come in and see what strikes your fancy. Plus!!! Know a high schooler going to prom?Come in with a valid student ID and BUY your tux $99! Go in and see Kit!Well be returning soon
Extremely rude and condescending owner. I wouldnt buy from here even if it was the last vintage shop in town. Being stalked around a store and bombarded with snide remarks is ridiculous. The woman has a hate thing for younger people, assuming they have no idea about vintage. She even had the nerve to say Oh you know you have to put it over your head to wear this.Rudest woman I ever met period. Also the majority of the stuff can easily be found at salvation army for next to nothing. There are way better shops out here so please check those out! Not this nightmare. The key to good service is to let the costumer browse after asking for help, not obviously make comments to make them uncomfortable. Clients dont need a mother nagging them relentlessly as they browse.
I found ‘The Alley’ last year when I needed vintage gear for a 1920s murder mystery party, and Aidan was immediately and incredibly helpful from the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left; he was like talking to an old friend. Later on, when I needed to assemble some white tie attire for a Titanic dinner, I knew where to go before just turning to Amazon. This time I met Kit, and she offered equally impeccable service. I stuck around just chatting with her as if we were family, and she had me trying on all kinds of neat stuff. Kit and Aidan will make you feel right at home, they offer great prices on tailcoats and other amazing vintage/antique clothing, and they truly care about helping you get it right. I will say that Aidan suggested some very brightly colored ties and kravats that were more modern looking than period appropriate, but I was able to tease him about it the way I would joke with a friend. The point is: come here before turning to the internet. These people will treat you right.
If I had a bunch of money, I would buy everything in this store! All the clothes, hats, bags, etc are authentic and in amazing condition. This store has anything and everything you could think of and more. Perfect place to play dress up. IN LOVE with this store!
Beware this place is nonrefundable,no exchange, no nothing! When I first got here the first dress the women tried to get me to buy had coffee stains through out the dress and the other was ripped and the dresses were priced for 60-80. Then when I bought something it turned out the Halloween party I was going to had a different time era then the item I bought . I had to turn around took a look at my receipt didnt see a nonrefundable notice and asked if I could get a refund when i got there the women said sorry and pointed at this little sign that read no refunds let me remind you it was the only sign. I was disappointed I hoped for a better experience. Beware everyone Pay attention to what they are trying to sell you because the women would of sold me the multi stained dress if I had of not said anything and make sure its worth the amount because they are expensive and all sales are final!
Great selection. Prices a little high but great customer service! I bought steampunk Victorian era corset and skirt
Nice place and very neat unlike some other vintage/costume stores. Owner was very knowledgeable about the costumes and made some great suggestions.
Great little small shop. For its size, it had a large amount of selection for women. The mens was okay but still not disappointed.Seemed to have womens dresses average around 20-30$ and my wife loved 90% of them haha. Well be back for sure.
Everyone here was so nice and I had such an amazing time there! It’s very fun for Both kids and adults!
Absolutely wonderful place, with friendly and helpful owners. Offers a wide variety of vintage clothing and accessories for you to get lost in and enjoy. Definitely worth bringing a friend to, especially if you like taking your imagination along for a ride with your attire.
I heard my sister talking about this store today. She said that the owner of the store came up to her and her friend and said the clothes they were looking at were too small for them. She held the clothes up to both the girls and squeezed their waists to try to prove a point. Then continued to ask for their size. And said that the clothing item they were looking at is a negative zero. First of all I have never heard of anyone or any store ever coming up to someone and doing such a thing to a paying CUSTOMER. These girls were nothing but curteous to the vintage clothing. You think that a woman would know how inappropriate that is to say to someone, the words that were said are incredibly damaging. Completely appalling, I will never step foot into that store and I will be spreading the word about this extremely terrible vintage store. I would think twice before going into this place.
The employees are helpful and fun to be around, the selection is amazing. I love everything about this place.
My only disappointment is that I didnt have more time to be in this wonderful store with Kit! Gorgeous clothes, amazing service, and unforgettable stories!!! I will be back very soon!
This place is amazing! My husband and I have two full cosplay/Halloween costumes from here. The customer service is incredible.
Family owned local business, super helpful with any project or show you may be trying to find items for, and if they dont have your item they will actually tell you where you should go to get your items. I have never had a bad experience and doubt i ever will. Kit, aidan, and joseph are very kind and respectful people that try to build friendships with every customer that comes in.
Perfect place for all types of clothing, especially good for weddings, cosplay and costumes in general! We found our dress and suit for our wedding for under $100 total.
WONDERFUL! I went for cosplay accessories. Very enthusiastic staff and incredible selection. Steampunk of course but plenty more, lots of masks and hats and capes and tops and bottoms and boots to mix and match. So many pocket watches, and some stunning costumes from Ohio Ballet. And even some RPG themed jewelry. Cant wait to go back!
Wedding pictures coming soon. We both found awesome outfits for under $100.
The Alley is great for vintage clothes and costumes, but not so much for jewelry. If you have the Wish store app, you may recognize a lot of the ear cuffs, necklaces, pocket watches, etc. If you can, check on Wish first because it will be half the price. The staff can be overly attentive and awkward. The owners are very worried about potential damage to the clothes and can seem/be condescending and even degrading. Its like the feeling you get when you visit you uptight grandmas house, where youre not allowed to touch anything and she tells you that you eat too much.I would go back to The Alley again for the clothes (you really cant get them anywhere else), I just know Ill feel uncomfortable.
First, Let me say that they do have quite a good selection, and there are great items here. I also do believe that the prices are reasonable. The issue? The owner. Ive seen a handful of reviews on here and Yelp where women mention that the owner tried to talk them out of small sizes and point them to something larger, and this was my experience as well. The dresses are arranged by size, and I was planning on looking from small to medium because I fit somewhere in between. I felt like the woman that owns the place was trying to talk me out of simply trying on one of the dresses I adored because she claimed it was a size 2 (it wasnt...more of a size 4) and she assumed it wouldnt fit me. This was a bit rude and made things awkward, I even felt I had to tell her I wouldnt force the zipper if it didnt seem to fit to put her at ease (she just kind of shrugged and walked away).Im sure that occasionally there are incidents where someone rips an item or breaks a zipper because a dress is a bit too small, but this doesnt mean you should make assumptions about a persons size, or make them feel guilty for looking in a certain size range or trying on a dress.
Love, love, the people, the service. Thank you for all your help, making my daughter so very happy for her wedding.
Love to shop here! Always something good to buy!
Great place! Friendly staff and great selection
This is a magical store for steampunk, Ren fest, Halloween, theme parties, and more. HIGHLY recommend, and will be a return customer again and again. Thank you for being so helpful and having such a great selection of clothing and accessories to choose from.
Great place for vitage clothing, costumes and interesting accessories. Wonderful customer service.
Anything from renaissance to colonial eras. Prices very cant be beat. Also if you dont find what your looking for. Staff will contact you when it comes in.....
Very cute shop. The staff is super helpful. Interesting selection of vintage.
Very nice and friendly. Beats looking online for this era of clothes.
They are very helpful in helping you put together the look you are trying to get.
Great place to get any vintage clothing, etc. you are looking for.
If you want a corset or Victorian / steampunk outfit, this is the place to go!!
Found an amazing vintage fireman outfit that still had the nomex pieces amd suspenders.
I heard about this store from my boss and went in on a whim, not knowing what to expect. I am now a regular shopper here and cannot gush about The Alley enough!Kit knows every. single. thing. she has in this store, and she loves to help customers find things and put an entire look together. Her prices are very reasonable, and sometimes I cannot believe the things I own and how little I paid for them. The store carries a big variety of styles and sizes, which is wonderful. Everything I have bought (or tried on, for that matter) is in great condition, although some items are more delicate than others! Apart from vintage clothing, The Alley has hats (SO many hats), shoes, accessories and jewelry, corsets, steampunk gear, and costumes, too! The store has lots of events during the year as well, ranging from steampunk to WW2 themed and so many more.I also want to add that, apart from acquiring lots of gorgeous vintage items for my closet, I have actually learned things about fashion and clothing from Kit. She knows so much, and I think she genuinely enjoys imparting that knowledge to her customers. She truly makes shopping at The Alley an experience--and a damn good experience, at that! Kit and her family are a joy (as are the lovely ladies who help her run the shop) and theyve got this customer for life.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff, good selection for all sizes.
Not what I was expecting. More of a thrift shop with some vintage finds, and very little I would call steam punk. In fact I went in thinking it was mainly a costume and steam punk place. (Original steam punk designs with leather and brass and victorian stuff out the wazoo.) And really it was like boomerang, or a regular salvation army. VERY disapointed!!!!
Small, cosy store. Great if you are looking for something eclectic. Alsogood source forSteampunk items
Staff was very attentive and quick to help you find the look you want to create. Prices ranged from inexpensive to expensive so you need to know average prices for similar items before you shop.
Love this place. Enthusiastic and knowledgable staff.
Great selection and service
Great but not unlimited selection.
Great place to find prom wear, costumes, and cosplay.
Lots of selection, nice staff!
Never been there ... must have stopped 4 cigs ???
