I love this place except for their mandate to either get dilation or the optomap of your eye during your visit. **read further down this review**The receptionist uses terminology its to protect the doctors license but upon further researched this is a blatant lie. I think Its a manipulation tactic to get you to pay for services insurance wont cover outside of what a $10-$20 eye exam costs. **dilation is covered per the receptionist**Prescription Only?Dr. William Barlow of the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center notes, “Dilation isn’t always required. In fact, if you are seeing your eye doctor solely to get a prescription, dilation induces potential changes to a prescription that aren’t present in the normal state of the eye when the iris/pupil is not dilated. Of course, it’s always important to dilate if we want to do a complete exam of the retina.”This has always been a thing with this place (ever since I have been a kid), but, if you dont mind being bullied into getting one or the other - then they do great eye-glasses in-house.I was seen last time without dilation and I WILL NOT pay for services outside of what insurance covers and you shouldnt either!
Year ago visit was fine.Recent visit, My understanding, they are improving customer reception 1st contact . Reference Covid restrictions.Eye doctor was fine Ref, Eye exam -For me, Eye glasses portion of business was better reception and customer care.
Everyone was very kind & professional on my visit. They made my glasses with a quickness! Wont go anywhere else!
I would not recommend this office. My daughter wants colored contacts, and we went to the eye doctor just a few months ago. They will not write a prescription for them without a $65 office visit!!! We can order contacts with the prescription we have for the next year, but they wont allow colored ones without an appointment. They would need to remeasure her eyes. Whatever... everything is about the money!!I also had a hard time adjusting to multifocal lenses, and the doctor told me it would take some time to get it adjusted correctly. After trying some combination of contacts, someone called from there and told me if this set didnt work that they were more or less done with me because my brain wasnt responding. It was responding, but I just wanted to make sure I got the right combination of contacts since both eyes are different, and this is my eyesight!! Who wouldnt want to make sure it was as close to perfect as they can get. I was quite offended by the way they worded the message they left, and made to feel as if I were stupid.
My daughter missed 1 appointment, 1. Her grandma was going to take her, but ended up not making it. I did not recieve her text in time to call and cancel. When calling to let them know, the first lady who answered transfered me in the middle of me trying to explain what had happened and the lady who I was transfered to was not any kinder?! She said, Its a $35.00 fee for no call no show, so you still want to reschedule?.I dont have an issue paying the fee, it was our fault, obviously. But, where is the good customer service anymore! Good grief. We will be finding a new optometrist
The receptionist was extremely rude even hanging up on me while I was still talking. Upon leaving my feedback on another site they then proceeded to violate HIPAA and reveal my information and tried to belittle instead of apologize or correct. AVOID!!FYI all in all they messed up my glasses because they DIDN’T even noticed astigmatism...went to another place and wow I can see!!
Great...love my glasses.
I am from Columbus, Ohio and I was stopping in Columbus, IN to see family on my way to Evansville, IN, when I woke up and realized I forget my contacts at home. I called Columbus Optical and once Madison received my prescription, she called me to let me know they had some contact lenses that would work for me and got me all taken care of very quickly. Thank you so much!
I love Columbus Optical. They are all so nice. I immediately felt like family when I walked in. They introduced me to some super cool techniques that help me with lights at night when I am driving by putting a special coloring on my lens so I don’t get the blinding feeling I have always had before when I drove at night. Highly recommend them for all your eye care needs.
Great service and expertise, good to support local businesses.
Dr hernacki did a great job and very detailed check up. Recommend everyone here.
Huge shout out to Dr. Trish Hernacki for putting us on the right track and confirming we are NOT crazy! (at least not about this😉) Thank you so much for going above and beyond! We ❤ u guys!
Easy to book an appointment, office is in a great location, convenient hours, friendly and competent staff. Dr. Hernacki is amazing; she is the only eye doctor I can ever remember actually being so kind, caring, and go to such great lengths to make me comfortable and relaxed. A good selection of frames available once you get to that step. My glasses were ready within a couple of days. Definitely will go back for future vision care services.
Customer service was great.
Great service, Great staff, in and out in no time, between appointments! Great location and did I say, the gals in the office where Great I will be a return customer!
Dr. Michael Mangas did such an excellent job with our 7 year old son. We came a little nervous, but Lowen and the both of us, left feeling at ease and very educated on Lowens eye issues. Both Dr. Oliver and Mr. Oliver were so kind. Mr. Oliver was so personal with our son. Highly recommended, especially if you have younger children, children with special needs.. We even saw how amazing they were the elderly!!! I know you wont regret calling them😍😍😍
Dr Mangas is as laid back as they come. The Optical dept was very helpful. Im picky and they were very patient with me. I asked lots of questions and Scott was super chill. I felt like family! Thanks for making my 1st experience an easy one! Ill be back!!
This store has a great selection of glass frames and a friendly staff. New frames never fit me right and the doctor took time to adjust them until they fit perfectly. I will definitely go back!
THE ONLY PLACE YOU CAN GO AND GET YOUR EYE GLASSES MADE ON THE SPOT ~ VERY VERY VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE[S]. This makes my 3rd pair in roughly 3 years. Only one needed replaced out of the 3; distance and upclose prescriptions. I have been to other places and just didnt seem like they had what these guys got. I mean they know how to make a good eye glass. Reasonable prices but most of all, on the spot (within about an hour) they can make your eyeglasses. Highly recommend them for your eye wear.
I had 3 glass picked up from them and every time I had a bad experience. This would be the last time I will go to that place. Zero customer care and will not deliver as promised. Took 3 weeks to get my glass and even with that, they made it wrong. This place is expensive and if you value your eyes, dont go there.
After several trips in(over a month), still could not see properly, wasted money on the appointment and contacts and ended up going to another Optometrist in town, who fixed my prescription (one eye was too strong causing blurring). I can see now, but Im out DOUBLE the money for 2 appointments & 2 sets of contacts and they will not make it right or refund my money. Very disappointing, very expense and beyond frustrating.
Very professional staff and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that you are a satisfied customer
I used columbus optical for years. I no longer live in the area but have stopped in and they have always been willing to do adjustments even if they didnt sell the glasses I had.
Dr. Trish is awesome she takes great of my eyes, Im so happy I switched to Dr. Trish!!!
Horrible customer service. We have double insurance and they say they billed the primary. When I call primary they have not. I work in insurance daily and I know its not that difficult. The office staff are very immature and smell of cigarette smoke. I will not be returning.
I have always been very satisfied with the personal care and service I have received at Columbus Optical. I ALWAYS leave feeling like part of their family.
!!! Awesome Family Owed Business !!! Very Good Customer Service
The receptionist Mary was very rude. I had many questions about my daughters contact lenses and she talked me rude. I hope the contact lenses work for my daughter.
Great service!
They worked with me to get contacts. I forgot mine and was out of town. Only charged me $2. Another place around the corner, wouldnt do it, they wanted to give me a vision exam themselves and would not take my drs script
I have trusted the Oliver family business ever since opening back in 1964. Married in 1966My four daughters grew up going to Columbus Optical and now their families are keep the family tradition going. No optical chain for us.
