This was a small, extremely well cared for store. The items are much more expensive than other stores, but the staff is much more attentive. My friend and I could not touch the rings until our hands were sanitized. I really appreciated the logic behind that. There were also nice sized dividers between the cashiers and the customers. If you dont use a bag during check out, you can get a token that can be used to make a donation to a charity. It is wonderful.
Good experience. I always on the search for good jeans, specially vintage style and i found good ones and they have a reasonable price. It is good to see traffic of people buying, and of course they are following the rules of social distancing and the limit of people in the store. I will come back soon
Saw someone else say this same thing, but the larger sizes are almost nonexistent. Racks and racks of small to medium, maybe one rack of large to XL for each category of clothing. Dont even get me started on pants. Not more than 4 pairs of pants/skirts behind the 18 divider. If theres a size 20 which is rare its shoved in with the 18s. Things are often labeled wrong too. SO MUCH from Shein as well, Jesus. And its all priced over $15??? Tried to sell here once and got offered $27 cash for 5 items. Didnt take authentic Delias or a luxury brand dress. I guess that they didnt want it because it was a size XL :/ the return policy is awful too. You have 2 days to return something for store credit only. And the dressing rooms are closed. Some people live sorta far and are busy!!! (Me!) Anyways, super annoying and I only find good things In the mens tee shirts.
This store is so. cool. i have never gone thrift shopping EVER. one day my friend brought me here and it felt like heaven. ive never been in a store where i could find things in my style of clothing much much cheaper than what they normally are! i also love how organized they are with stocking. the shoes especially! i love shoes, so seeing them in order by size unlike most stores made me really happy. very good quality clothing and definitely worth the price (in my opinion considering how expensive things can get in my style of clothing). some things may be a little overpriced but you can find really good finds there.
If I could do 0 stars I would. I called in advance and told them what I had, vintage dresses. I was told that they took them, and would have to see them in person, but eager to. I took them two days after this call. The woman I spoke with, who I wont name, was not working. They took none of the dresses, after a half hour wait. They didnt put most on the hangers correctly. One for the dresses now has a mark on it, which was no there when it was brought in to them. Needless to say I am very disappointed with this store, I will not recommend them, and will definitely not be returning. Further, after they gave me back the dresses, they told me of a store which might take them. I called them in the car, they did not. Glad I didnt waist more time by just going there.
Nice stuff, fairly overpriced. And item from Shein was $15 which is the same price of it on the site. But there are some good finds!
Both times, that I have visited Rag o Rama in Columbus, I have been rejected with all the clothes I bring. Yet, when I have gone to both locations in Atlanta, with the same clothes, they manage to find it stylish and current and buy it. On my few visits to the Columbus location, I have also noticed the bulk of the customers, to be the people trying to sell that same day. I have also noticed a lot of the same garments for sale, still on the floor from one year to the next. I understand, there is no expectations on what clothing if anything the store will buy, but I find it odd, that the same items are bought at your other locations, with the same policy in place. Not sure what the yearly sales are at the Rag o Rama in Columbus, but with a second store opened in Atlanta, I would think the profits there, are much higher. I personally have had better luck selling clothes at Uptown Cheepskate locally, with 4 locations in Columbus OH.
Been shopping with them since they had the corner lot down the road and now I bring my kids there as well. Staff are always friendly and fun to talk too. They have the best clothes and in my opinion if they sold furniture I wouldnt go to any other shop! Judgement free zone filled with kind, wonderful people. Thank you guys for supplying generations of fun, funky goth, punk or just outside the box clothing. They arent as expensive as they used to be either huge plus!
If you want to feel like you can get no clothes from a used clothing store, this is the place for you. From ableism to elitism, they use small ways to make you feel not welcome. I can hardly ever find clothes in the plus sizes, and when I complained about it an older man said we are trying our best to get whats in stock. Yet when I have tried to sell here before with some of my plus sized clothing, they never accept my clothing. This store only cares about a certain image, if you are bigger there isnt any clothes for you. Just rudeness and entitlement.
Beware. After finding (overpriced) items, I was informed that the dressing rooms were still closed but I had 30 days to return the items I didn’t like and receive a refund. Upon return, the employees told me that they could only give me store credit and that it had to be within 2 days of the initial purchase. I am now out $90 for clothes I can’t even take back because of employees not knowing their own policies. DONT buy anything unless you want to sink money into this store.
Everyone is nice and so is the merch to buy. But if your trying to sell your gonna get ripped off. JS
I brought brand new shoes and they wouldnt buy them, they said they smelled like cigarette smoke and I do this even smoke cigarettes
Clothes stuff is good. Staff is cooperative and atmosphere is very clean and amazing.
Dressing rooms still aren’t open don’t waste time going if you need to try things on’!
Overpriced as heck, rude security guard who sits there and watches you, crowded store, closed dressing rooms, credit returns within 2 days only, mask required, and just not worth the trip.
Fantastic little store with such wonderful and friendly staff! They always have a great selection of vintage items and they are all priced very reasonably for what they are. They are also doing a great job with the COVID precautions and I truly felt safe and welcome shopping there! Thanks for all of the sweet denim :)
Very nice, awesome staff, great cute alty cute clothing and very well marked with sizing 🙂
Waited for over an hour to drop off my items for review, had in-house items worth over a coup,e thousand dollars easy. Dropped my stuff off only to return basically not even be given enough for gas money... I earned $18.... for over 3 hours,
Not worth the time or $ - very overpriced and junky. More like a costume shop, and an expensive one at that. Also very rude people working there which is odd. Def do not recommend this place.
A fairly decent establishment with a vast variety of clothes to plunder through. Not entirely sure about previous statements about the employees but they were great. They were very polite and were able to get my exchanges checked out in a decent amount of time. The only drawback to this place is the prices. Expect to pay more than a penny if not premo prices for their mass selection. Granted I did buy a Patagonia hat for basically peanuts but charging nearly new prices for a pair of Timberlands is kind of a reach. Overall, this place is worth checking out.
I have been selling my clothes here a couple of times. The people working here are very polite and friendly. They are very seriously conducting the social distance rules and restrict the number people in the store here, so I feel safe coming here.
The employees are very friendly and fun. But the prices seem to have significantly increased since my last visit.
I love this store! I always find great pieces and staff is super friendly which makes my experience more enjoyable
Clothes yall!Hats - got em.Pants - aw yeah.Socks - no doubt.
This was my first experience working with Rag-O-Rama. It was a very pleasant experience from walking in to Being greeted to being asked how they could help us and they took great care of the clothing brought in and looked over every item and folded them and placed what wasnt needed back in the tote. They all worked well together like a well oiled machine. Will gladly do business with them again. Fun store!
It seems like they got nice things but they only give you a 2 hour window to sell (11-1) 4 days a week which is ridiculous in my opinion 2 HRS like people don’t have lives they should definitely expand that selling window. That’s just my opinion.
I like it Ima do alot of shopping there
Great consignment finds. They always have unique tops, good quality outerwear and great jeans. I started buying most of my wardrobe here to adopt a more eco-friendly lifestyle.
UPDATE: Security guard is not friendly. Barely greets you when you walk in the store. The buyers barely take any items. They need an update on style and fashion. The items they do take are out of style and very basic.Past Response: Walked in a 2nd time & the white girl at the counter with short cut hair, wearing out of date clothes, and glasses did not speak or acknowledge me as I stood at the counter waiting for help. However, she chose to speak to the next customer that walked in. I will NOT be back to this unprofessional, discriminatory, overpriced, and unorganized store.Past Response: Some of the employees are rude, and don’t even acknowledge you when walking into their store. You can stand at the counter trying to sell you clothes, and some of the employees will pretend that they don’t see you. Very rude and unprofessional. I will not recommend this store to anyone.
They’re unprofessional and unorganized. I left my belongings with them and was asked for a phone number for them to contact me when they were done with my order. They didn’t call me or send a text and when I called the next day I was then told they don’t call you, you’re supposed to just come back the same day (which is not what the lady told me). And they gave me a $19 store credit for a couple pairs of mint condition rock revivals and true religions. A waste of time and gas money, you’re seriously better off going to Clothes mentor or Plato’s closet. Never again will I do business with these ignorant people
A bit on the pricey side of second hand but they have a lot of fun quirky garments. Totally worth a visit and fun for a group outing if you want to play dress up and compare outfits. The changing room has a cool common area.
I had a decent experience buying here, but trying to sell here was a totally different story. Took a large stack of clothes and a box of shoes to sell, many of which still had tags on them. They looked at it for less than 10 minutes and took none of it, saying that it was too business casual. While I could see some of the clothes meeting that definition, I brought a few pairs of 5-inch platform glitter pumps (one of which had never been worn). I dont know about you, but I dont typically wear platform glitter-covered shoes to work. I could understand not taking the button-down shirts or more conservative sweaters, etc., but to take NOTHING of over 50 items in good and even brand new condition? Very annoyed.
Very rude to me. Unprofessional. Clothes and accessories are overpriced for what they are. Would rather go dumpster diving than set foot in this place again.
My problem with Rag-o-Rama is that they charge way too much for a second hand store. I’ll see forever 21 clothing in there that costs about the same as buying new. I only buy things here that I think are unique and hard to find. Otherwise I don’t waste my money on old navy hand me downs
Always a great place to checkout. They have a superb selection and polite workers. The space is comfortable and the parking is easy (small lot behind and street parking all over). The dressing room area is massive and youll never wait. Definitely worth checking out as its like going to a thrift store but with all the crap taken away. Only the best is left.
I speak for the guys half of the store. Great consignment shop. They have a lot of good stuff, lots of nice name brands. You can find good deals, but some stuff is overpriced, like the shoes. One little thing that I really enjoy about the store is you can donate to one of three charities if you buy something and opt not to use a plastic bag to carry your stuff out in.
Ive been shopping here for about one year. Originally I could find some pretty cute and unique clothes. The last few times Ive visited, there have been so many more of the cheap brands (like forever21) that dont hold up well and arent expensive to begin with, so I prefer not to buy them used. Every once in a while I can still find something great, but it takes lots of digging through racks of bad deals.
Don’t recommend selling here. I would recommend Plato’s closet or anything else. They say you have a day to pick up ur items, any day after you only get store credit. BUT they donate aside from what they say. Something came up and I couldn’t make it in for cash on the same day. I asked them to hold it for the cash, they said yes they could with manager approval. I go in to get my stuff and they tell me that the items they passed on has been donated!!!! They didn’t tell me that when I signed. They just said store credit is the only option after the first day. No word of donation ever. It also would have been nice to receive a text or call that they are donating it if that’s their policy. Can’t believe it.
I’ve been a regular shopper here for over 10 years and I will never return after one of the staff members was extremely rude to me today. Would highly recommend you just go to buffalo exchange down the street instead.
I agree with other reviewers who have said that this place is not friendly to plus-sized people. I have no experience trying to sell to them, but I have come in to shop many times and always been disheartened by the lack of clothes in larger sizes. I have found a few, but all so ugly. Its like their hipster retro punk asthetic (which I kind of love) does not extend to anything over size XL. Its all peasant blouses and mu-mu shaped blob dresses of conservative length, aka the usual crap found in mail order catalogues. Its too bad really! Im quite jealous of all the clothes I cant wear whenever I shop here.So why do I still shop here? Well, the funky jewelry, sunglasses, hats, gloves, etc all fit fine. Last time I went, I got the cutest pair of earrings. I really do enjoy the playful sense of style this store has always offered. Its a real shame that I do not seem to be among their target customers.
Poor customer service and then when I showed up they said they could only go through 1 container..not the 3 I brought. The reps were very short and not professional. Janell was not happy at all...rude and short. I will not go back again! I would recommend not going to this store at all!
A great variety of clothing but a little too pricey for used products. The staff was very professional and friendly.
Longtime customer. Some items are overpriced, some are underpriced. It’s discouraging sometimes to sell items and them being declined for being “too worn” then see raggedy over priced items. Overall great shop. Cool staff
Very organized racks of quality clothing. Staff are extremely warm, friendly and willing to help. Ill definitely be back!
Cool place for college kids to find clothes tgey like cheaper then the mall. Great variety.
Cool shop. I usually find something I really like. They definitely have a good quality selection so I dont have to spend that much time sorting through it all, unlike a typical thrifting excursion.
Popular consignment shop. Some items are new and priced accordingly. Can get cash for your items or more money towards in-house purchase. Pretty hipster.
Dont waste ur time going here! They only take what they like and only want to pay pennies.
A win win! We all appreciate what they are doing. Bravo!
FRAUD! DO NOT SHOP HERE. This company is known for selling FAKEs. The employees will tell you their items are real name brand items and even print the name brand on their sales tags. Marketing an item to a customer as something other than what it is is FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY and FALSE ADVERTISEMENT, but since there policy is we do not authenticate our merchandise they will not refund or even make a trade for the purchase. This is a scam! Their employees verbally and in print verify an item is from a brand. They will do anything to take your money.
A lot of their product is stolen from other stores and then sold here. Employees can be really rude. They take my backpack every single time I come in and act like I’m stealing no matter what I do. They always take my bag but I always see other people in the store with purses/bags. One time when I got my backpack back from them it was open (it wasn’t open when I gave it to them). Everything at the store is also ridiculously overpriced. Example: solid colored T-shirt, target brand, was $15.
This is my favorite thrift store in the city. They have a particular alternative sense of style in the clothes they buy and put on the racks. Plenty of shoes and accessories as well. The prices are higher than most thrift shops, but for the selection, it is usually worth it
This is a well curated thrift store with some great finds. Great place to stroll to after Clintonville Farmers market on Saturdays. Best gently used shoe selection Ive seen in town.
This is the best thrift store Ive been to. Theres just a huge variety of things! I even manged to get a $200 pair of very good condition Uggs for only $37! Everything is cheap but really worth it. Good condition items. Please check it out!
Do NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY or WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! The manager Wendy (looks strung out) was unable to process my store credit because she couldnt figure out the system.. Then wouldnt even take off 1$ for the inconvenience, so I could buy the shirt with the store credit that she wasnt able to process! These people are petty, pretentious l, and down right rude. How does the manager not know how to process store credit? Would never go back...
Great place for cool, funky clothes. I feel like Im finally fly with every new piece. 😆
The prices are a bit high for what your getting. The selection of vintage clothes is great. I know from talking to insiders that some of the clothes here were bought at other resale shops in the area. Caters well to the hipster.
They are always so helpful in there.....always walk away from store with a few favorite pieces.
This place sucks, in addition to it being tragically hipster. They buy nothing, even if its relatively recent clothing and things youve seen on everyone, at normal sizes (nothing too large or small). They sell mostly junk I wouldnt be caught dead in (yes, on my I buy at the thrift store body) and the remainder is just too much money. A new pair of converse would be only marginally more expensive than their prices, and drug-store quality sunglasses are at least $10. They wouldnt have been $10 new. If you need clothes for Halloween, theyll have interesting items, but Id rather buy new at the target than at this place.By the way, unlike what another reviewer said, this place is NOT on campus.
Always get pretty good money for the cloths I bring in to sell, and usually opt for it in-store credit since you get 20% more value and I usually find something i like while i wait :D
I love this store. We found exactly what we were looking for. Prices are fair. The staff are very helpful.
Im not crazy about the pretentious staff who enjoy each others company more than interacting with customers, but the clothing is cute and good prices. Nice place.
They have a oretty solid collection of trendy clothes. Prices are extremely reasonable, and styles hard to pass up on. Great shopping enviornment and staff is super chill.
Got some sweet Ralph Lauren polo Hi-top shoes for cheap
I wandered in here to check out some clothes for fall/winter. I have to say the selection is great, but the pricing is outrageous. After checking some labels, and then looking at pricing online, they sell some of their clothes that are USED for the same price as NEW.Needless to say I didnt buy anything. I may use them as a try-before-you-buy Amazon option though. They seriously need to rethink their pricing structure.
This is basically an overpriced goodwill. Most of the clothing isn’t in good condition and very trashy in style. The prices are ridiculous for secondhand even Plato’s closet is cheaper. Also an older blonde associate asked to hold my purse as I shopped! Never been pegged for a shoplifter at a store before, I literally work in loss prevention for a retail store. Most likely will never be back, it was a pretty bad experience!
Great Place, friendly staff. Seem to actually understand fashion instead of looking through racks and racks of American Eagle,Abercrombie and Gap.
Way over priced for used items. Most items I looked at were stained an shirts cut in half with scissors then marked vintage.A lot of items can be bought new for less then they offer specially on tshirts. It just stinks of dirty clothes an really bad smelling used shoes.
They don’t ever buy anything! & they like to keep items and not pay you for them.
Awesome place to find all kinds of great clothes. Lots of fun!
Good clothes, good customer service. My go-to place for fashion and advice for looking good. All around great place.
Rag-o-Rama might have friendly faces but make sure to watch out for them, I went to Buffalo Exchange to sell my clothes and didnt get much anywhere but I saw the lady put all my clothes in my bag. I left to go to Rag-O-Rama and sell the rest of my clothes. They told me my clothes were not in season when I had jeans and sweaters in my bag, they also ended up taking one of my shirts with out paying me for it. I didnt know at the time that they took it until the day after because I was furious about not selling clothes. I went to look for a shirt and I couldnt find it anywhere in the bag but I did remember the lady from Buffalo Exchange putting it back in my bag before I left. It makes me furious, why would they steal something from a 17 year who is just trying to earn a little money. Smh.
DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE THIS IS A RACIST ESTABLISHMENT!!!
Love the dollar sale. Amazing deals, very friendly staff
I quit using this place several years ago. I used to bring nearly all my used items to them for trade and knew a few of the staff. A couple years after everyone I knew had moved on to other jobs, it seemed like other things had changed as well--for the worse. Although the merchandise itself seemed as good as ever, the way I was treated bringing items in to them was not. I live on the east side of Columbus and only use public transit, as I have since I moved here in 1999. I knew from my friends who had worked there that items the store did not sell would be carted to the Goodwill store about a mile or so down the street. I also knew pretty much which items would be taken for sale and which would not, and had a decent idea what I could expect in cash or trade for what I brought in.I dont know if management changed hands during that time or what, but I did notice the extreme markups from what I got in trade versus what the items they accepted from me actually sold for--and I usually took trade rather than cash, since I was often just looking to clear unused items out of my closet rather than get rich. As shady as that seemed to me, I still kept bringing my stuff in to them, then taking the leftovers to the dumpster in back (where I could clearly see items waiting to be hauled away to Goodwill). Riding two buses to get there with a paper box full of items was difficult enough without having to take stuff back onto the bus and ride it a mile down to Goodwill (or carry it there and walk, since Im about the same size as Ellen Page), so I figured since they sent a truck down there twice a week anyway, a bit more wouldnt matter. Man, was I wrong. One day I had done this, came back later that week with a second box looking for trade, and browsed around the store while they evaluated my items. I noticed a couple of things that had been in the box by the dumpster had apparently been fished out, tagged, and set on racks for sale (although not good enough to give me trade/cash for, they were apparently good enough to sell). Still I thought nothing about it, until I was called to the counter and given a verbal reaming by the cashier for leaving the box out by the dumpster the previous visit. I was told that if I chose to do that again I would be banned from bringing in items for trade in the future. I was then handed nearly the entire box I brought in and told that anything they didnt accept could be taken to the Goodwill nearby. When I explained this was difficult for me to do and I knew they made such trips twice a week anyway, she shrugged and repeated that I could not do it again or I would not be allowed to bring items in again. Now, Im not an idiot. I know consignment/thrift/vintage stores can only accept so much stock, that it depends on a multitude of differing factors what they will accept at any given time, and that if every single person who brought in unsaleable items put a box by the dumpster of what wasnt taken it would become a disaster area in no time. But I also know that if you have someone who willingly brings you quality items on a semiregular basis, never complains about the fact that you make up to a 500% profit on them in sales, is a regular paying customer aside from providing said items, and isnt being obvious about putting a small amount out there, that it would at least warrant a polite explanation that hey, this is just policy, were not trying to be jerks here. If they had at least been nice about it, I would have said sure, no problem, sorry if I inconvenienced you, and figured something else out. But to be sneered at, blown off, and threatened with a ban? Please.I saved them the trouble of having to ban me or give me another pissy speech. I put the box on the curb outside and havent gone back since. All my old items now go directly to thrift stores such as Goodwill, and although I dont make any cash or trade for them, and I never bother taking a receipt for the tax break, at least I know they appreciate it, and they are never snotty to me.
Terrible place better off going to Platos closet or goodwill. Dont waste your time taking your goods there Platos closet is way better.
Theyre a tad overpriced, but you can definitely find some great deals! Excellent trade-in program if you find clothes you want to buy.
Good stuff but prices are sometimes a bit too much for a second hand store.
This is a great place to get clothes and not brake the bank. Awesome employees
They buy only trendy stuff and dont offer much for it. Prices range from reasonable to outrageous.
I buy just about all of my clothes here, it has very much a hipster vibe to it tho
Another tragic used/thrift store who thinks a little too highly of their used merchandise just because its supposedly vintage. I am an avid clothing thrifter and make my rounds all over Columbus pretty much on a weekly basis searching for deals...NEVER found any in this store, nothing really even remotely what Id consider to be on sale. The markups VS what they actually PAY people for their items is ridiculous. I really dont think you can be a successful second hand store trying to operate under the business model and price point of a BRAND NEW clothing store. Also the music, and particularly the self righteous, uppity hipster employees is very gimmicky and off putting. I prefer REAL people that I can actually relate to, walk in and have a friendly conversation with without feeling patronized and/or condescended. Cmon...you guys are broke college students like the rest of us and barely make above minimum wage, you cant be THAT uppity! LOL Anyway, I would wager to guess that most college students or lower income folks cant afford to pay mall prices, otherwise theyd be at the mall, not shopping at thrift stores for second hand merchandise. Just my take on it.
Amazing deals on quality used clothes. Its like a very condensed version of visiting 10 thrift stores
A bit pricy, most of the thing found here you could find at a place like Platos Closet for a lot cheaper. The clothes are unique and interesting though, and the store has very retro vibes.
Yes the prices can be high for clothing, but they do have top brand clothing and compared to their store prices they are at really good prices. There are two different perspectives on prices of clothing, whether you can afford it or not.
They have a great selection of vintage clothes and jewelry. The prices are sometimes a bit too high, but they make up for that during the dollar sale.
The best second hand store in columbus!!! The fitting room area us so freaking cool!
I was not impressed. The security guard was invasive and treated my boyfriend like he was about to shoplift. The clothes are horribly overpriced considering theyre not that great to begin with.Staff was asked about the security guards behavior and she just looked at me like I was from outerspace.I wont be coming back here and Ill be sure to let people I communicate with about this to encourage them not to go here.
I did like the set up, it was clean and it had real people working there, they say hello and when I was leaving they said goodbye. The coats and boots and pants looked cLean and organized
Good deals. Decent payback, but theyre incredibly picky about what they buy.
Large selection, ok prices. Quite sub par service. Abput what youd expect for a kids place on campus though.
Ive sold back plenty of like new clothing here. Its a bit annoying how they only buy certain items during certain seasons, but sometimes the same item they decline this year they buy the next so I just keep rotating tote bins at home and taking them back once a year during the right season when I sort them at home.
Very hipster. Good resource for nice clothes if youre a skinny hipster type
Can definitely score some great finds sometimes.
Idk what these people are talking about, the quality is good but its extremely over priced. Thrift store with mall prices. They but something for 5 sale it for 37. Not cool!
