Brought my bridesmaid dress to be tailored, was insulted during the consultation process, she didn’t even listen to any of my suggestions, but I needed it done quick so I ignored it. Got the dress and it was poorly done and still too big, the back corset didn’t have a clamp, which caused the flap to shift around all night. Definitely NOT worth the money charged.

Wonderful service. Id give them 6 stars if possible. Ive taken several garments for repairs such as unraveled hems, or small tears and the repairs were practically invisible. Quick turnaround too. Pet friendly and very kind.

Live Oak altered my wedding dress for me. I was nervous at first because it’s a small business and I spent over 4K on the dress BUT they did amazing! My dress had a lot of material and took her three days to make needed alterations! I only had to try the dress ONCE after alteration and it fit so well. While picking up the dress, we found a small hole in the back and she patched it up on the spot within minutes. You could t even tell. She worked with my timeline and delivered great service and a great dress.

I was only in town for 3 weeks for a course, and was in a bind to have my wedding dress altered before my wedding next month. Online reviews from other brides led me to Live Oak Tailoring & Alterations. After explaining my situation and timeline, Ms. Sue said it would be a lot of work, but assured me she could have it ready in time. She hemmed all five skirt layers and took in the lace bodice which required a fair amount of hand stitching. What is most impressive is that it fit perfectly with one fitting, and it didnt need any adjustments! She is an expert at her craft, and I would trust her to complete the most intricate, complicated tailoring & alteration jobs.

I had a great experience with this business. The owner was honest, fair, and exceptional at her work. When I came in with a largely oversized jacket, instead of charging me an arm and a leg for alterations, she suggested I get it returned and traded for a better size if possible--this saved me $100s of dollars that she didnt have to give up! When she made the alterations on my vest, shirt, and pants, everything came together and fit like a glove! Very happy with the results!

Mrs. Sue is an angle for the lord himself. She fixed my dress to fit LIKE A GLOVE. It’s was so perfect she even shocked herself. Truly a master in her field with magic hands. I went to Ms.Sue twice to make alterations to two different dresses for two separate occasions while being pregnant and she’s a life saver!! This was my first time visiting Live Oak Tailoring and Alterations. I brought in my tuxedo to be altered. Mrs. Sue was able alter the vest and jacket to fit slimmer, how I wanted it. She even showed me a better look for the pants and altered them as well. My tux fits great now. I was very pleased with the work. She is a very nice lady and continued complimenting me. If I have anything else needing alterations, I will revisit.

I called three times for her to laugh when I asked was she hanging up on me. Even after hanging up on me she was Rude to reply to my questions and unprofessional. Then say just bring it up here Ill do it I guess. I wouldnt care how much she charged me but there was no way I was going to drop off a few hour job, after the conversation we just had. All these great comments must have caught her on a good day, or I caught her on a bad one.

Sue has been tailoring my shirts and suits for a while now, and continues to produce quality results! I recently got my whole Army Service Uniform tailored for my upcoming wedding, and it was done perfectly, and in a timely manner. Sue is always upfront, hard-working, and a master at her craft.

I can not recommend this place enough!! I dropped my bridesmaids dress off on a Thursday and by Monday it fit like a GLOVE. She even added some little snaps to prevent the straps from moving around. Honestly she did an incredible job and was SO sweet. For the rest of our time in Columbus this is where I’m getting any work done!!!

Of all the places Ive been to I never expected to find an alterations specialist of Mama Sues caliber. Ive worked with folks in Hawaii, California and New York, but Live Oak by far is the best one. Admittedly, I never expected the best alteration/tailoring shop to be in Columbus, GA. Take it from me, I am very picky when it comes to my clothing. I have always considered how my clothes look, fit and feel; and to find someone as good as her in Columbus is a Godsend!

Mrs.Sue is where it is at. She is very blunt and honest. I took her pants said inch and half off she told me to go back and triple check and use a safety pin. Thankfully I listened to Sue since it ended up being 4 inches. She saved me money and time. I would have need two alterations but I listened to her and only needed one!

I paid $1500 for my dress from Davids bridal, they ordered me the wrong size, a petite and im not petite, the dress was just a little too small everywhere, due to all the new corona virus rules i could not exchange or return tje dress once i took it out of the store and i couldnt try it on there so i was basically hopeless, we had to cut the whole back of the dress off for it to properly fit, they did such amazing job you could not even tell the dress had a back to begin with!!! Amazing job!! So so greatful!!

Ive always taken my clothes to Live Oak & just recently took my wedding dress to be altered. She got the fit perfectly the first try on & it didnt need any adjustments! Also, she knew I was anxious to get it back, so she stayed after hours to finish it in two days! She knows what shes doing!

Mrs. Sue is a wonderful seamstress. She has done several dresses for me. Once, she told me the dress I brought would not work due to the size and thought it would be easier (and cheaper) to find a larger dress. I appreciated her honesty so much and ended up saving money in the end! I appreciated her honesty in letting me know the dress was too small. Nobody wants to hear that they are too large for a dress, but I appreciated her letting me know so I could make a smarter decision. She is pricey but her work is always great. I will return.EDIT- perhaps there was a cultural miscommunication/misunderstanding. I can assure you, from the 4 dresses I have had mrs sue alter, she did not intend to insult. She’s very direct but has never done so in a rude manner with me. Her work is impeccable and it’s been a positive experience each time I’ve been.

I went here this past weekend. I wanted to wear my mom’s wedding dress and we were told by reviews that this place was amazing. What we weren’t told was that the owner and seamstress would insult me repeatedly. Referring to me as a “really big girl” and telling my mom that she “fed me too good”. I have never been made to feel so terrible about myself. I am generally a confident person. I’m aware that I am heavier. This is no shock. It is a very obvious thing. However continually calling to attention a persons weight is rude and cruel. I am planning for my wedding. I should not be facing massively rude criticisms from someone who is supposed to be a professional. Maybe she is great at what she does. But her customer service is non existent. And while I would’ve paid her a small fortune to fix the dress to fit me, she will not be getting a penny. If you are looking for a tailor or a seamstress and you have any visible flaws, please do not go to this place—unless of course you want to be berated and treated as though you are a lesser human being because of it.**note, the fact that she said the dress was too small is not at all the issue here. It is the manner in which she handled the situation. I appreciate honesty. If you don’t think you can make something work, by all means tell someone. But don’t continually, and rudely, say the same thing through nasty comments. A simple “the dress is too small you may do better getting another one” is fair enough. No harm no foul. But continually saying rude things about someone’s size is unnecessary and THAT is the problem.

I’ve been to some of most renowned tailors (New York, Chicago, South Korea) Sue is by far the best alterationist I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with. She never fails to amaze me, her work speaks for itself. She has saved me several times by accommodating same day alterations, and giving me honest opinions and not just telling me what I want to hear. That let’s me know it’s not about the money and that she’s passionate about her craftsmanship. Sue will have a lifetime customer in me no matter where I reside.

Altered my wedding gown and lace bolero in less than a week. The bridal shop where I purchased my dress promised a delivery date of about 4 weeks before my wedding, but it didnt come in until 9 days before. The all-lace boleros sleeves needed to be taken up, a feat I was concerned no one would take on, or, if they did, would just end up butchering the jacket. The wedding gown was a couple layers of tissue taffeta and crinoline with a small train. I also wanted the straps put onto the dress. She altered everything to perfection, in a VERY short time, and her prices were extremely reasonable. Will definitely use Live Oak for future tailoring needs.

I had an impossible bridesmaids dress that needed some serious help. I literally had nightmares about how awful the dress looked on me. I dont know how in the world they fixed it but they did and after it was tailored the dress fit me perfectly. So very thankful for the quick and skilled help... It was worth the cost.

My best friends wedding and my wedding were only a month apart. I brought in 4 dresses for sue to alter. The bridesmaid dress for my friends wedding, my wedding dress, my daughters bridesmaid dress for my wedding, and my other daughters flower girl dress for my friends wedding. She finished all 4 dresses in the middle of prom season in less than 2 weeks and they fit flawlessly. Since then Ive went back to get another bridesmaid dress altered for my cousins wedding. My prom dress came back from online completely too small, I tried everywhere. No one could alter it because of the beaded sequence. I was referred to Live Oak and she was able to alter it, and guess what? You couldnt even tell it had been altered. Shes a good & sweet hearted person. She made my junior prom all worth it!!

Sue does a great job! Ive gone to her for all my tailoring needs and Im never disappointed. Ive had a blazer, button-down blouse, and skirt altered by her. She knew exactly what to do to make them more flattering for my body and was able to complete the job in under a week. I will admit the pricing is a little high, but the work she does is absolutely worth it.

We took my daughter in laws wedding dress in to get altered, and the owner was pretty rude to us. She just looked at us and said you go put dress on. Then gave us an outrageous price!!! Before we left, I asked her about how long this would take, she said....you see how busy I am. So I dont know. Just totally rude. I would never leave an item with her. She also had a dog just walking around laying wherever. Also, she was rude to me on the phone as well. Just no customer service or hospitality what so ever! We found another lady from uptown gowns that was a great deal cheaper and super nice to us.

I could not be happier with how my wedding gown turned out and the experience I had with Sue. My wedding gown was a very intricate David Tutera for Mon Cheri dress, with lots of beading and lace. It needed a lot of work because it was ordered too big and I was stressing out over which tailor I should take it to. I am SO happy I ended up taking it to Live Oak. I can never buy stuff off the rack and have it fit right. Ive taken an ill-fitting suit and 2 dress shirts to Sue to fit them to my body-type, and both times, the results were amazing. She made my suit look like it was custom-ordered, and the baggy shirts I had to buy to fit my shoulders now fit like a glove. On top of that, when I took the shirts in, I found out the next morning that I would have to go out-of-town unexpectedly, and when I talked to Sue and explained my situation, she finished the shirts that same afternoon for me. She goes a long way for her customers, and I will be definitely be visiting Live Oak more in the future.

I love her personality and glow walking into live oaks youre greeted by 2 of the friendliest small dogs youd ever meet. She treats you as if youre family right from the door which is what I needed, this was my first suit ever in life and I wanted that slim look. But the only problem was me being 64 215lbs and macys not having anything close to my size I had to make due with a ken Cole black . This woman is so talented I told her the idea of where I wanted to go with it and she had the whole suit done in 1 day and it looked better than I could ever imagined. I recently had my wedding dress altered at Live Oak. I was concerned about the alterations because my dress is lace with a very intricate hem, has beading and a keyhole back, and a charmeuse under layer cut on a bias. It was also at least a size or two too big for me. Sue did a FANTASTIC job! It took multiple fittings (3) to get it right, which she says is rare for her; however, the extra time and effort on her part was completely worth it. The dress fits like a glove, and I cannot wait to wear it on my wedding day. I highly recommend Live Oak Tailoring & Alterations.

I do not understand how someone could be so rude and uncaring. Literally being called fat and other extremely insulting and demeaning words as Sue (the owner!) was looking at the dress!! Having customers run out crying is not a way to run a business or treat other human beings, especially my fiancé!!! There are easier, less demeaning ways to tell the mother you fed her too well or describe someone as a real big girl. They are VERY lucky that I was not there... Unfair Business PracticesI have never in my 5 decades on this earth experience such “Racist” customer service. I entered this business to get alterations and understanding that there were two customers ahead of me when I arrived. I waited patiently with no doubt I was going to receive good service, at least that is what I was expecting per the Reviews online. I’m waiting about 40 minutes when a caucasian white collar man entered the business, immediately the owner started a conversation with this person and from the conversation, he was a Walk-in like myself, no appointment. To my surprise, the owner began to provide immediate service to this man while I’m still waiting and have been long before this person arrived. Moments passes by and the owner yelled across the room to me to let me know that I can proceed to the dressing room. I politely asked the owner if I could speak with her for a moment to share with her my experience of what just happened and how unfair she treated me as not only a customer but also the fact that I am a Military Family and I have supported my spouse for 25 years and counting, 4 wars and I come to this business and receive this kind of treatment. Unfortunately, the owner would not own her decision to provide such poor service, which just tells me that this is not the first time an incident like this has occurred.Good customer service is not based solely on how well you can perform a task but it’s the “Experience” as a whole that makes the Difference.

I am a skinny guy, so I have great difficulty finding suits that fit. Live Oaks always makes the oversized suits I have to buy fit like a glove. Very reasonable prices as well with quick turn around time.

From pants, to suits, to halloween costumes there has never been a job I have brought to Sue that she didnt do an amazing job with. Very few people fit clothes properly off of the rack, so do yourself a favor and get them tailored at Live Oak. You will not regret it.
