Love the layout of this location.. just feels a bit more welcoming than the newer warehouse styles like the one in Reynoldsburg. Could just be me though.Regardless of the location though, the staff are always ready to help you find what youre looking for.. and the prices are always a good deal.

Ive been coming to this location since 2014. Ive always found that they have a good selection of books, movies, music, and assorted geek paraphernalia. Staff members are always friendly and easy to talk to about books. Prices have steadily increased over the years; its harder than it used to be to find great deals. The average price of a clearance book has risen from $2 (2014-2015) to $3 (2016-2018) to $4 or $5 (2019 and 2020). If selling items, prices are generally poor and their markup is, from my experience selling albums, books, and Lego, as much as 300%. Still, nice place, clean environment, friendly staff, good selection.

Love this place, always a wonderful selection of books! Im really missing them right now, all the other locations just dont have the same feeling. Cant wait till they reopen.

Great store. Its not like youll get a ton of money for your books but theyll give you some and its convenient and easy. Great selection of books to choose from. You could spend a lot of time in there browsing if you wanted to. All in all I enjoy this place. You might even find something you werent expecting to find.

Selling excess books was very easy. Didnt get much for a bunch of books that were just collecting dust but maybe someone else can enjoy them. Also, a great place to browse for a fantastic range of books and music for reasonable prices!

They could itemize the stuff they buy from me. It feels like they are being shady about it and makes me a bit uncomfortable. I know they must make a profit but I would be more willing to sell better stuff to them if they itemized.

Everytime I come down to Columbus, I come here. I LOVE this place. They have every book under the sun! They have books for everything and their prices are amazing. Ive always had good experiences and the staff are friendly, outgoing, and helpful. The environment is great and they have areas to sit and read in. I highly recommend this book store to everyone!

I love half price books, you never know what you are going to find. It could be some cool books, a great record, your favorite movies, or some sweet games. It is really a great place to checkout.

Nice staff, they have a HUGE selection of books, vinyl, CDs & related media items, such as flash drives, etc. Only fly in the ointment is the small amount of money you get back. Im sure they have a formula or template to determine value. It just seems pretty chintzy. However, its a great place to visit & hang out, the staff are all helpful & knowledgeable. I recommend them 😊👍👍👍

Discrimination happens everyday, and it can happen to anyone. I was being watched by the staff. The staff was giving me dirty looks. The staff even made an announcement over the loud speakers about me. I have a medical condition. I have asthma. I never thought I would be discriminated against for having asthma. Everywhere I go, I have to explain myself and my condition. Im judged, ridiculed, and shamed. If I wear a mask, I will have shortness of breath, hyperventilate, and get dizzy. I like to read classic 19th century novels. I was in that section, and this nervous guy asks me to pull up my mask. I explained my condition, and, very robotically, told me to pull up my mask. He offers curb side service. What? Half price books offers separate but equal service? Is this is the 21st century? I left the store... End.

I love it here! The atmosphere and selection are wonderful (the prices are good too).They have a very large selection of cook books, which I am fond of. The employees are always friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back again & again!

The handful of times Ive been to Half Price Ive found at least a few books that contain some bit of knowledge on the subjects I enjoy. Im often left wanting to go back. I cant say that for some other book stores where Im left disappointed.

This store is deceiving. Looks much smaller than its actual size. (Magical store? Mayhaps...)Theres plenty of room to peruse the multitude of genres. In just under 40 minutes, I traveled through art, philosophy, religion, history, crafts, photography, and food/brewing recipe books. I found some adorable stationary and a new mug for my coffee.The employees were helpful and pointed me in the right direction when I was unsure where to find something. Good prices, like so many of their other locations.

Every genre of book you can imagine. Not thrift store pricing, but good pricing. The books are clean, in good condition, well organized, and easily accessible. Add the knowledgeable staff and the large well lit store and you have great place to save money on just about any book you are looking for.

Was looking for an address book. yes I know they are non-existent anymore but I was able to find one.

Good assortment of books. Not much of a reader so honestly I dont know the value. Was getting gifts for people. I looked lost but no one seemed to help or want to guide me. However I didnt ask so not their fault. Checkout was easy. Didnt have big bag for some larger items I bought which was downside, but on the brightside less plastic waste.

This is my go-to place! Everyone is so friendly here, and the inventory here is stocked everyday, so youll never know what youll find. Plus, they allow pups! So its nice to go somewhere indoors with the dogs. Basically everyone here is a dog lover!

Always great prices. Went for black Friday, the store was packed but the cashiers were great and got the lines down super fast! Staff is also extremely helpful and answered all of my questions.

For some reason the customer service at the upper arlington location is above and beyond--kudos to the staff here. I love coming here not only for books but they also have board games and gifts. I hear if you like jazz their audio collection is very good.

This is the best Half Priced Books Ive ever been too. Large selection. Always fully staffed. Theyve continued to expand the clearance section as well, so that each time you go, you can get yourself 2 books for 5 bucks.

From the outside you would think that this place is pretty small but its actually huge once you get inside. So far this is the best Half Price Books I have been to. Its took my wife and I over an hour to look at the couple of areas we wanted to check out. They have a great selection of books, DVDs, comics, and records. I usually hate going shopping for books with my wife but I actually cant wait until we go back here.

Very pleasant atmosphere, the layout is great and easy to navigate. Books are all organized and in amazing shape!Would be 5 stars if selling to them was a better value. Had a very disappointing experience with that. It will vary based on popularity of the item and condition.

Wasnt sure what to expect from this location as it seemed to be somewhat small from the outside but its deceptively big. Store is really well organized and has great selection of books, vinyl and even games and puzzles. They even had a copy of the classic board game Heros Quest that looked to be in great condition.

Friendly staff and great selection. Especially the comics and graphic novels at this location. I was able to find two of the most recent Eisner award winners!

Went to sell 10 soft covered books & 2 hardbacks & only received $1. They said it was because spines were cracked. Books looked fine to me. I originally bought them there for around $4 per book in the same shape.

They discriminate against special-needs people for one thing and I’m glad that they’re temporary closed they need to be permanently closed they’re too expensive on everything they had in there and they were snobs the whole bunch of them that work there were snobbish

The Fantasy and Scifi, Comic Book and Role Playing Game selection here is incredible, its like this place is reaching their hands into my pockets pulling out all my money as soon as I walk inside... Wonderful store! Thousands of books, and great selection of DVDS, CDS and video games.The store has a very relaxed atmosphere. They have chairs around the store so you and sit and read.They also have a good selection of books for children. The latest trip to Half Priced Books was at my sons request (aged 9) so he could get some new books for his class reading program.

The drug addicts circle campus buildings gathering the best titles and come in to half price for some fast cash!Its one of the most profitable gig economy gigs out there. Old used bookstore that has been around a long time. It has a very good reputation locally. It smells like old books. :). They buy stuff back, but dont expect to make a lot of money. They are reasonable if you know how much something should be worth. Just dont expect to make what you would selling it yourself on eBay.

Great place to buy and sale. Love their books and electronics. Fantastic clearance and books galore. Love their calendars, movies, music, and toys. Restrooms are always clean and ready for children to use quickly. An area to change diapers in both mens and womens restrooms.

Looking for good deals on books without having to wait for them to be delivered then heres your place. It always seems like I get here right around closing but I never feel rushed out. The staff is friendly and helpful also very good on their recommendations. The audio book section seems a bit small but otherwise you should be able to find whatever your looking for. They have a really nice collection of ancient histories and a full set of Gibbons history of the Roman Empire which I should buy.

I like to browse the vinyl albums, used ones. Its fun to see what you can find. The prices are good, but creeping higher. New vinyl is priced way too high for the old reissue stuff I bought new in the 60s and 70s and 80s.

I spend a lot of time whenever I get here. I still love books. They buy, sell, trade just about anything media related. Magazines, movies, puzzles, comic books, and on and on. I always take my recent magazines that Ive read to trade. Saves me a few bucks because I always find things I didnt expect. You never know what might have been sold by someone else that you want.

Best HPB in the city, by far.

Scam artist, they give you change for things that they sell for 20 or 30 dollars

Look its half price books. The customer service is pretty good. The inventory who the heck knows. Pricing is fair selling them stuff is iffy you never get what you think you should etc. If your going for anything specific this isnt your place. If your looking for random quirky your gonna find it.

If you have never been to a Half Price Books store and you love books, you must visit. I have been to every Half Price Books in the city and several in other cities. This location is one of my favorites. I appreciate that they have kept all the magazines together. They recently moved them and I had a moment of panic, but they were still together, just in a new location. I always walk out of here with more than I planned to buy. Because this particular store is close to the university, they do seem to have a better selection in books that might be used in classrooms. I enjoy perusing the health and medical section and the psychology section. The metaphsyical section is also substantial. Yes, I often spend an hour or two in here.

This place is awesome. I found so many comic books at an awesome price. As Arnold would say, Ill be back!

Cordial, helpful, and honest staff make this store a treat to work with. I went with a mound of books (over 100) and they didnt even flinch. They let me know their timing situation, and how many staff members they had to do the job, and how many people were in front of me. They assured me that they could make me an offer, but that it was bound to take 30 minutes or more, and that if I couldnt stick around, theyd be more than happy to help me at a later date. I stuck around, and sure enough it took longer than 30 minutes, but in that time, I was able to see that not only were they going as fast as they could, but also not letting their dedication to customer service drop. Also gave me time to see that they have a great selection of titles, movies, even toys and games. If you are a collector, or looking for a hard to find title, Id stop by here just on the offhand chance that they have what you need, or might know where it is. Will definitely be returning next time I need to purge my bookshelves

I have always loved this store. Was a little disappointed to see that they now only take the Golden Buckeye card on Tuesdays only instead of seven days a week. If I am out that way I stop at the Lane Ave store. It usually still had good bargains even though Broad St stores prices seem to be much higher. I dont buy cook books here any more because Ollies seems to carry the same ones at much lower prices.

What an absolutely fantastic business. I really wish we had these back in Michigan. My boyfriend and I got absolutely lost wandering around this ENORMOUS store. For having went in just to browse, I ended up needing to get myself a basket because my arms were just too overloaded with inexpensive books Id found! This is not like most used bookstores Im used to, where the sections and categories are very vague and intermixed and its just so hard to find something youre interested in. The organization here was so great, I know thats a major reason I ended up leaving with so many purchases. The next time Im down south a bit, Ill definitely make it a point to find another HPB. This one in particular was just fantastic.

The Half Price Books location at 1375 W. Lane Ave. is currently in the same building where Bill Owens Appliances had been located many years ago.The office of my pediatrician, when I had been a child during the 1950s and the early 1960s, had been located on the second floor of that building [in a mostly-hidden back door on the south side of the building and then up a flight of stairs].I visited that location of Half Price Books yesterday [11-14-2019] and told those two stories to the cashier. She has often heard people talk about the former Bill Owens Appliances at that location but had never before heard that there had been a doctors office on the second floor.She told me that the current employees of Half Price Books sometimes speculate that the second-floor area [where my pediatricians office has been located] is now haunted.That history will soon disappear from W. Lane Ave. because the City of Upper Arlington has been planning a huge redevelopment project that will replace all of the buildings between 1325 W. Lane Ave. and 1397 W. Lane Ave. [plus 2376 North Star Rd.] with a large multi-story building that will be Upper Arlingtons tallest.The current report is that Half Price Books will have a location in the new building but they certainly will have to be temporarily located elsewhere for several years.

My favorite book store is half price books, not only because they live up to the name but also due to all the rare and wonderful items to be found there. Because they constantly buy collections from individuals you never know what might turn up in these stores! Every visit is unique and exciting.

The space is clean and well organized. The staff is friendly and well informed. To my dismay, I did not see much when it came to Black childrens literature. I asked for two quite popular book titles and they didnt have either of them. Unfortunately, three other book stores didnt have the titles either. I would like to see more diversity in the selection of childrens literature. Half priced could lead that change.

Dont sell your books here! They will steal them. They offer you pennies, litterally! I took a truck load in and they offered me 25 cents. A rip off. And they sell the same books on their shelves for way too much especially considering they offered me 3 cents for the same book they are selling on their shelves for $15!!! They do smile in your face the whole time though.

Im not sure why anyone would ever go to any chain bookstore that is NOT HPB. The prices are unbeatable, and the rows are spacious and clean. you could easily get a wheel chair or stroller through the entire space, with no problem.The staff is friendly and helpful, but never underfoot. My family plays a lot of games, and they have a fantastic selection to choose from, always.

They sell tons of used books. Except for the bargain books everything is well organized. All paperbacks are sold at half the original price. I almost always leave with a heavy bag of books. Since they buy used books from customers, I have found books I have never seen in other book stores.

Good place to buy books but not to sell books. I once brought in a box of about 50 books. Most of the books I bought there and paid more individually for about a 3rd of the books then I was offered for the box. I left left donated the box to Goodwell . Meet a formal employee of one of the stores. He informed me that the store offer low amount because most people dont like having to carry the books back home. I will still go to buy books some time but would rather donate to charity my excess books, DVD etc.

Great staff! They found the book we needed at a different location, they called and had it held for us. Plus, there are always fun finds. Board games, video games, dvds too, not just books.

All sections of the Lane Avenue store are well-stocked and tidy, but the selections of vinyl albums and college textbooks here are particularly good. The clearance section is easy to shop as well. Customer service is friendly and helpful.

Lane avenue is your best bet for comics, graphic novels and manga. They also have an excellent movie and music section. Probably the best store layout they have.

I have many favorite things about Columbus. Half Price Books is one of them. The Lane Ave store seems to be the biggest and offers so much diversity in books, videos, and games. The staff there are very helpful when you are selling, looking for an item, or purchasing.
