Columbus Clay is a boon to the local clay community, serving the artists with their own formulated versions of stoneware and earthenware, having broader firing ranges and favorable working characteristics. Theres a clay suited to each artists niche, and the location is easily accessible from interstate travel routes. Their main concern is clay - they do carry a small line of tools and glazes but they are devoted to our core material. Ive used tons of clay from them and will continue to do so for as long as I practice my art.

I have always liked Columbus Clay, but the last time I was there the person helping me was not wearing a mask during the height of the pandemic. Columbus Clay is a small enclosed area. I believe this is very poor practice for a company working directly with the public.

My Vulcan kiln purchase from Columbus Clay Company was a great experience. Everyone there was helpful and polite. I have no problems with my new kiln and I would recommend any artist or hobbyist to do business with Columbus Clay Company.

Columbus Clay always has very reliable high quality clay and glazes. Clay and glaze I can trust!

We buy Hydrostone and Ultracal in (aprox) 50 pound bags and always have great service. Their prices on those items are the lowest around. Other places online might be cheaper but once you add their shipping, youve spent way more than Columbus Clay.

They may be a bit rough around the edges at times but they know their stuff. Had to call them out to look at my classroom kiln today and Mike was pleasant, knowledgeable, thorough! He fixed the kiln, not sure if it has worked this well in the past. Thanks again Mike for fixing the kiln and sharing your knowledge. And they did not charge an arm and a leg!

Columbus Clay is one of the few places to find ceramics equipment and supplies in our area and i am grateful! They are prompt and professional and I have only once had a product issue. In that instance a 25lb of glaze was the wrong color and Columbus Clay sent me a new one immediately no questions asked. I am also learning the ropes of managing our kiln and stocking supplies and the reps. at CC are always very patient with me and very helpful. Thanks and great job CC!

When ever you try new product you need to make some tests before production. A lot of problems can come with pouring slips. I have had pots explode but was not the clays fault. Anyway I have had nothing but good experiences with Columbus Clay. Great line of product, and great selection of clays at reasonable prices.

Today was my first visit to Columbus Clay, the employees were friendly, helpful and my order was filled very quickly. I will buy from them again and I would recommend them to a friend.In regards to the person with the bad review,.. prototypes should have been made to test the characteristics of the finished material when exposed to extreme temperatures, shock, vibration, etc. Had you made a few that tested poorly they (Columbus Clay) probably could have helped you tweak your mix for optimum performance. I highly doubt they sold you inferior material on purpose, at least I would hope not.

The guys in here really know their stuff. I come in whenever I need a some plaster or chemicals for glazes. The prices are competitive too

I wasnt impressed by the showroom. I felt a clay was overpriced. An older gentleman begin helping me when a younger man came and took over. The younger man was rude and rushed my order.

I have been dealing with Columbus Clay for over 20 years.One challenge common to the Ceramic industry is the determination of root causes for a problem. Too often the problem is blamed on poor quality raw materials or inadequate controls when the real basis is improper materials for the desired characteristics. As other reviewers have stated, new products / processes need to be developed, reviewed and documented to ensure that the materials and processes consistently produce acceptable results.As a Ceramic Engineer myself, I have been involved in situations where the raw materials have been blamed for poor results that were later determined to be caused by other factors.Columbus Clay has always provided the technical support that I have requested, and their efforts are greatly appreciated.
