I walked in to fix my guitar a couple years ago and Jeff gave me some great advice on the repairs needed as well as the cost vs. value. I appreciated his honesty and sound advice. I have been a loyal customer ever since. Awesome place!
Professional and friendly service. I knew nothing about the repairs I needed but Jeff took the time to explain everything until I felt confident. I highly recommend his services!
Jeff is a really friendly, easy to talk to and knows what your instrument will need. My first experience dropping off a guitar there so I will follow up when the work is done.
Jeff repaired my Gibson acoustic guitar years ago and it is still going strong. I’d highly recommend him to anyone who needs work on your axe.
Jeff was very helpful as I selected a pickup for my guitar by phone, and he did a great job installing it and setting the guitar up. The work was done quickly and at a fair price. This is a cool place with a great team, and I will definitely be back.
Recently had my 97 Taylor 412 worked on by Jeff and Strings Attached. This was the first time I had had one of my guitars professionally worked on and to be honest, I wasnt sure what to expect. After getting the call that the guitar was ready, I was truly truly surprised by the results. The guitar looked amazing, and the fret leveling and bone nut replacement these guys did was great.
Top quality workmanship. Over the top effort to make sure your instrument comes out better than you thought could be done.
Within seconds Zack knew why I was having issues with my guitars intonation. They fixed it that day at a fair price and my guitar plays better than it ever has. Will be back for more work in the future, great shop.
Jeff and Zach do fantastic work. They are both super knowledgeable and fast turnaround time on projects! Kudos, gentlemen!!
They did a great job with a set up on my Guild S-100.
I brought in a Stratocaster for a fret level/crown and a new nut. The owner, Jeff, is friendly and knowledgeable. He called me to double check my set up and the work completed was excellent! The bone but he made for my Strat is beautiful. I could not be happier!
Looked this establishment up on the web and figured I’ll give them a try. When I say “The Best” they are the best. I got a simple setup for my bass in which I’m very pleased with. Great people, couldn’t ask for anything or anyone better!
The quality of their work exceeded my highest expectations. I brought my beloved 2005 Tacoma DR-28 to Jeff and Zach about a year ago. The guitar, like many Tacoma instruments, had absolutely horrible finish issues. I bought the guitar refurbished around ten years ago. About five years later the finish began to bubble, and then it began to peel off in places. Jeff and Zach were recommended to me by a friend who assured me that they had the skill and character to take good care of my instrument.Jeff and Zach ended up having to disassemble the entire guitar to meticulously remove every inch of the corrosive finish. In the process they discovered that the top of the guitar had begun to separate from the body and a host of other issues. Jeff and Zach spent countless hours painstakingly removing the finish from the guitar and performing other repairs including repairing the top, replacing the nut and saddle, and completely reassembling and refinishing the guitar. After all was said and done it would have been simpler and more time efficient just to build a new guitar.Repairing my beloved guitar turned out to be a Herculean task, but Jeff and Zach took the time and pains to make sure my instrument was taken care of. I couldnt be happier with the results. It looks fantastic and it sounds absolutely amazing. They did a phenomenal job. They also very generously worked with me on the price of the repairs when unforeseen issue after issue presented itself with the guitar. Im so incredibly grateful for these guys, and I heartily recommend them.
Had a guitar completely re-wired to obtain a particular sound and new pickups installed. Some fretwork and proper adjustments and the guitar plays like a dream and the sound I was looking for was nailed. Zach did an awesome job. And importantly the guitar was ready to be picked up in a day. Great service and turn around time.
Please allow me to paint you a picture. We are currently on tour. Im the guitar tech for Sebastian Bachs band on this tour and Brent Woods Gibson songwriter got a split on the top from a faulty Gracie stand dropping it. I called Jeff Merck on a recommendation from a local guitar shop. It was a Saturday minutes before he closed his doors for the day. I left a message explaining our urgent situation. Jeff called me back after I abandoned hope of getting it repaired for Sundays show. He was kind enough to meet me at his shop after hours. Examine the guitar and give me a ballpark quote. He showed me pictures of loose braces. And explained what he could do. I had a band aid fix in mind with a 24hr turn around time. Jeff is too good of a repairman to believe in band aid fixes. He fixed the split on the top. Reglued the loose braces. Lacquered the repair a bit to seal it from moisture and sweat. All within a span of less than 24 hours. He even went ahead and gave it a fret level (needed it) and its back at sound check tonight. Sounding and playing better than it ever has this whole tour that started in Sept and now we are almost at Halloween. His repair is solid and will hold up over time. He really came through and went above and beyond on a weekend on short notice.*2021 update* Guess what guitar we took on the following ten week tour the next year in 2019? Thats right. This same Gibson songwriter Jeff repaired. And it sounded beautiful the whole tour and his repair is holding up perfectly. Very talented repairman. Highly recommend.
Brought in my electric guitar that I had been neglecting for a few months and these guys fixed it up better than it was when it was new in less than a day. Theyve got a super friendly crew and clearly know their stuff. Couldnt be happier with the service I received. Will be coming back for all my future repairs.
Jeff is a great guy and a great tech. He’s been a great friend of our shop and a helpful resource whenever needed. Also a Martin warranty tech!Great shop...support local!
Jeff is a very friendly and knowledgeable person. My friend took his Fender Stratocaster for a setup and I took my Fender acoustic for a fret leveling/crowning, action lowering, and re-stringing. He went above and beyond. Both were turned around in good time and they both sound like new. Cost was good. Zero complaints. Will take any other work I need to him.
Jeff and his staff are awesome! They took care of my Martin guitar and stand behind their workmanship. Highly recommend!
They did work on 2 of my guitars and a bass and nailed them all to a T. Also Zach And Jeff will work with you till your instrument plays just like you want it to.Strings Attached is without a doubt the place to bring your stringed instruments.
Called to ask about having some guitar work done and Jeff Merck was very rude. He acted like I was wasting his time. While I tried to explain what I needed done he kept intetupting me and was very coarse and short with me. He basically acted mad because I had called his business and therefore wasted his time. I will not do business with a company that is not interested in a customers needs and concerns especially when dealing with a guitar as expensive as mine. Find someone who cares about what you want and your expectations as a customer. Jeff Merck is obviously not this person.
Superb.
As an actual satisfied customer (unlike Croal Darksoul and Mazani Maa’t), I can state that Jeff Merck is not only a gifted musician and skilled luthier, but he is also a kind person whose customer service is excellent. Individuals who make slanderous comments without ever having dealt with Strings Attached as customers should be ignored completely.
Strings Attached is a fantastic Columbia secret that shouldnt have been so hard to discover. I went in there skeptical, and came out with a guitar that plays so flawlessly, I cant imagine Ill ever need another. Thats really all you should know, but if youre interested in a long-winded story of how I got my dream guitar read on.I need to preface this by saying that I try to be understanding of issues and mistakes and dont judge a place by one bad or good experience. That being said, I try to buy local, but after a difficult process of purchasing my dream guitar (a cherry red Epiphone Casino) from Sims, I was upset to find out that the trouble had only begun. You should just get the blue one. Wed have to order the red one.So any guitar from Sims comes with a free setup, but mine did not come with one, even though they assured me they had set it up properly. The intonation was bad, it wouldnt stay in tune, the jack was loose, and to top it off, the truss rod inside wasnt even connected! It was just jangling around in there! Luckily, instead of having to send it back, I was able to get it to connect and I brought it back in to get it properly set up (since its free and all). Again, still poor intonation, and now it had other tuning issues. After a bit, the pickup selector started going in and out, so I brought it in to get looked at, and after a few days of them saying we havent gotten around to it yet I called and they said it was ready. They told me that as far as the tuning goes it sounds fine to me and as far as the switch, they wouldnt look at it because it was working now and there was no point if theres no issue. So, I took it home and a week later its going in and out again. Took it in again, they said the same thing. I dont want to open up your guitar if you cant replicate the problem, and they again said the guitar sounds in tune. I disagreed and said that it seemed wonky to me. Their response was Some guitars are just like that.So through the year and a half since I purchased the guitar, I didnt give them a chance. I gave them at least 8 chances to do right by the customer. I dont complain and tell people theyre not doing their jobs well. They know that. Its their job and their business. I just take my money elsewhere. Thats when I was recommended a little guitar repair shop that I decided to check out on my day off.I walked up and there was a nice guy in a hammock listening to some music and jumped up and ushered me inside. I opened up the guitar case and he immediately started asking questions, and pointing out reasons why I may be having issues, what he recommended to fix it, and care tips to prevent the problems from coming back.Heres the best part: I asked him about the pickup selector that kept going in and out.Epiphone selectors go out pretty often. Ill just replace it with a Switchcraft one if I have it in the back. Theyre much better and last a lot longer. Should be pretty cheap and I can have it done by today or tomorrow. No Im not gonna look at it. No Some guitars are like that. Just Gotcha. Let me fix it then.Since that experience, I now have a guitar thats perfectly intonated, has a better nut, frets are filed correctly, and they overhauled all the electronics to have it play better than a ES330. It plays like I always knew it could and Im a customer for life. Thanks guys!
Horrible service. The man who owns the business Jeff is very rude and is a racist. He acts like he does not need your money and does not want to help customers and I think he lives in the shop. Don’t support this business just take your money somewhere else
