Super nice gentlemen and very knowledgeable of where things are in the store. Will go back if we ever need anything else! Thanks guys for making our visit a great one!
They have great teachers ready to teach you or you family to improve their instrument skills.
The owner is a great guy. His shop is nice with great selection and pricing. His employees are horrible. I have tried my best to make this my go to music store as it is the closest to my home and I like to support small merchants whenever possible. Its hard to support someone though when you are in the store with cash in hand to buy $1000 item and they blow you off so they can continue their conversation with another employee about their weekend plans. This seems to happen everything I go to this store so, I no longer go to this store. Go to Sims Music on St Andrews Rd. You wont be ignored there and if you have a question they will bend over backwards to help you out. Ive been a customer of Sims since 1979. There is a reason they have been in bussiness for so long. If Musician Supply doesnt find some better employees, they arent going to make it nearly as long.
Tons of great music books, instruments and accessories. Staff was also very helpful!
Awesome people! Love going in, they have Great selection and prices. Teachers there are fun too!
Price very reasonable. Clean and organized.Music literate and very helpful with finding what I need.
In town for a Band Clinic at USC School of Music and needed a replacement set of mallets and found much more at Musician Supply! Thank you for the great service and I hope those in the area appreciate the great resources available!
DONT RENT ANYTHING FROM HERE THEY CHARGE YOU WELL OVER THE AMOUNT OF THE CONTRACT YOU SIGN AND IT TOOK MONTHS FOR THEM TO DO THAT I WILL BE DISPUTING THE TRANSACTION WITH MY BANK FOR CONTRACT VIOLATION AND THEY DONT DO THE AUTOMATIC TRANSACTIONS THERE THEY GO THROUGH A 3RD PARTY AND SEND OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION WRITTEN ON PAPER(VERY IRRESPONSIBLE)
This is the worst music store EVER!!! I came in looking a nylon string guitar for my son and the sales guy hovered over me and I mean he was inches from me and didn’t want me to play anything. I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and know how to handle a guitar without hurting it. The person that was hovering over me was named Marty I think. He bragged about his degree from Berkley School of Music and was just cocky and un helpful. The selection was not as good as I hoped and the prices were very high compared to the online pricing I have seen. I would not even buy a guitar pick from these people. A word of advise to them would be to let people shop in peace and if a person wants to play a guitar let them. I went across town to Sims music and bought and AMAZING Martin from them and the service was wonderful. They set the guitar up for free and offer this service free for the life of the guitar. I defiantly recommend Sims and would say stay away from Musicians supply!!!!
Love the community feel of this little music shop. My daughter attends weekly violin lessons and the staff knows my family (and dog) on a first name basis. Not the lowest prices in town but some of the friendliest faces that youll do your musical business with.
Best music store. Got my art&lutherie acoustic here. Took guitar lessons here from john, drew, and one other. Much better than Guitar Center.
Well put together store if you are looking to buy an instrument, supplies or books - they have a wide selection of available merchandise. However, I cannot recommend them for repairs. I brought in a violin bow to be re-haired, and was told it would have to be sent out and would be ready in a week and a half. I was quoted $55.00 to repair. I lost track of time, and called back 4 weeks later (after never hearing back from them) to discover, from the apologetic manager, that the bow never got sent out. When I asked why, I got the lame excuse of, Its a busy time of the year. I would have much preferred the truth of we lost track of it/forgot to send it. I was then promised that the bow could be ready in 4 days. I made my displeasure quite known, and then grudgingly agreed to further wait. Upon hanging up, an immediate internet search showed me a violin repair/sales shop in downtown Columbia, and upon calling them, they said they could fix the bow the next day. I called back Musician Supply to cancel the repair and pick up the bow, and was told that (in the 15 minutes that I had last spoken to them) my bow was out the door and on its way to be repaired! I asked to speak to the manager again, and he was busy. I asked the salesperson what this entire fiasco was going to cost me, since I had decided I wasnt going to pay the full price for my inconvenience, and I was quoted *$65.00!!* - 10 dollars higher than the original quote! I again expressed my displeasure, and the manager (who was suddenly available), offered to recall the courier. I agreed, and said I would pick up the bow the next morning. When I arrived at the shop, my bow - instead of being safely tucked away behind the counter - was sitting out on the counter next to the register where anyone could handle it, AND it was missing the bow string wedge piece! This was the final straw for me, and I again confronted the manager (who was attempting to hide behind a large display at the end of the counter! ) about the whole mess. He got all bent out of shape, informed me he could only apologize so many times and then told me that I didnt appreciate his efforts to bend over backwards for me in regard to trying to get the bow repaired asap! Seriously?? I left the shop in disgust and will never step foot in it again. By the way.......the violin shop in downtown Columbia re-haired my bow in less than 30 minutes, and charged me far less then the original quote from Musician Supply.
These guys and ladies are great. I have a older acoustic model Takamine guitar which plays so sweet, but alas, with time the electronics on the internal pickup failed. I was trying to get by using a piezo Dean Markley pickup seated in the sound hole, but it just sounded nowhere as good. I tried going to other repair shops to get it fixed but I was told that the item was out of stock, not made anymore and not available anywhere. Bummer....I went to the Guitar Center to see if they could just modify/fix the issue by inserting a new internal pickup. The wonderful guitar/instrument tech told be about a small American company that made replacement parts that should get the active pickup working, not an OM part, but he told me that they have a good reputation. He installed the new electronics ...... and man ... it works really great, I swear even better than the original pickup, much more tonal response/control spectrum. They brought my Baby Cakes back to life. Thanks Guys and Ladies.
We came in with a broken cello bow, and Marty did a great job salvaging it and saving us from having to get a new one. Customers for life!
A good place with good people!
Always helpful.
