I bought my first bow from them about 30 years ago and still remember how good of experience it was for me as a kid. The owner Lee was awesome and I think his kids are running the place now and they are doing a great job. My son just turned 7 and wanted a bow, I didn’t even consider going to bass pro or the other big stores. We bought the bow there they set it for his size, cut his arrows and let him shoot at their indoor range. The younger guy that helped him was great. He worked with him for awhile making sure the bow was set right and gave him several pointers. You don’t get that at box stores. Great place!!!!
Very disrespectful. Went in prepared to purchase or if not currently available, order 3 new firearms. Was ignored for 15 minutes while some lazy kid sit on his phone. The woman that assisted seemed friendly. I starting asking about what I was looking for and the kid thought it was professional to giggle at my specific needs then go back to scrolling through facebook. Was very unprofessional to disrespect a customer like that. Will not be back. Worst experience ive had at any gun store ever. Do not recommend if you are looking for an enjoyable firearm purchase.
Have bought several guns from these people. But. Their new help where very rude. ASK TO SEE a gun he put it on counter an walked off. They were not helpful. I wont be back.
What an awesome place!! They set up and tuned my bow, then I got to draw it and shoot it! They are pretty well stocked and everyone was super friendly! I highly recommend them as a great place to shop and I’m sure you will find what you are looking for!
The young lady thay works here was beyond helpful..very good experience
Friendliest gun place Ive ever shopped at!
Had a great selection of everything. Ammo. Handguns. Rifles. Powder. Etc. Like everyone else they were out of small pistol primers.
Incredibly knowledgeable staff in the archery department. Theyve done everything from adjust a peep sights, install new drop rests, to a complete re-string. Even let you use the range for free to make sure everything is how you want it. Great prices and friendly staff.
Took the youngest son there (first trip) to tune his new bow - ended up buying a few accessories and even a nice s&w mp 45.The entire experience was professional but friendly, with a highly knowledgeable staff.Highly recommend!
Most helpful people in todays fast world. They are very friendly and appreciate your business. I will drive the 50 miles again. Thank You.
Went there to look at crossbows, Kelsey knows the products they sell and done a excellent job with explaining the different features of each one. I will continue to purchase my hunting supplies from Powder Horn
Went there to see what kind of bow I had because I dont know anything about them & they were really nice & made me feel welcome, they even have me a box to ship the the bow. I recommend them to anyone...good guys all around!
Best gun/Archery shop in town. Lee is a local guy and has been doing business in the Columbia area for a long time. He and his staff are knowledge and friendly. For me it is like Cheers, they know your name and they know their stuff. It is also a family affair, sometimes Kelsey lets her Dad take a day off once in a while.
Great selection, friendly staff. These folks hunt and shoot the products they sell. Lots of knowledge. The only place in town where I can go in and buy smokeless powder off the shelf.
Visiting gun shops while in town. Went to several and the powder horn was the best of the best. The young lady behind the gun counter was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I have bought and sold guns all across the state and its very rare to find a shop as good as this one. Wish I lived closer!
Always the place my wife and I go when we are looking at a new gun or bow. When I took my wife in to help find the right handgun for her, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She was treated with extreme respect by the staff as they spent over an hour working with her to find the right handgun for her fit and desire. This ended with me spending over 500 dollars very happily at the end of our visit. We frequent the store quite often as well.
Hands down the best sporting goods store in Columbia. They dont act like theyre doing you a favor by being there like the people at bass pro and other big stores. Friendly informative staff who will answer questions and let you look. This is a great store and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for guns or bows.
Went in looking for my first gun as I am new to the sport. Needless to say I had a ton of questions about the process of getting a gun and the gun itself. Lee took the time to answer all my questions and gave me a lot of advice and recommendations. Since I am new to guns, I dont know if their prices were low, fair or high but for the quality of service that I got from Lee, it wouldnt have mattered. All the help he gave me was worth what I paid for my items. EXCELLENT store with awesome people!!! Will definitely be coming back for all my gun needs from now on.
Great place. I just moved here from out of state and this is one of a few places Ive visited in the last few weeks. You cant tell from the outside, but theyve got a great selection on firearms, archery, accessories and everything in between. I came in to get a scope mounted on my rifle and was greeted at the door as soon as I walked in. The staff immediately got to work on my mount, and took their time ensuring everything was exactly the way I needed it. Great staff, great selection. I wont be wasting much time with Bass Pro anymore.
Great place staff is a little young but they’re absolutely amazing great selection and product
Its been a while since Ive been in, but I picked up a nice little toy from them and have been very pleased with that purchase and my overall experiences whenever Ive been in the store.
Just getting into the bow hunting world. I got a new bow and stopped at powder horn for a sight and quiver. Im disappointed in myself for buying my bow at another shop. Jeremy spent some time with me to get the sight right and bow tuned up. I definely wont be going anywhere else from now on. They have a great stock of bows, firearms and everything else you may need, with the kind of customer service you cant find anywhere else.
Purchased O/U shotgun! Very helpful and very knowledgeable! Highly recommend!
Got a new quality string put on my bow and a month later it broke leaving a cut along my forearm. Took my bow and string into them and the female there (Kelsey I think) told me I had to of dry fired it by the way the string broke on me. I told her numerous times I never dry fired it which I hadn’t but she continued putting the blame on something I did. I had no more than 50 arrows through the bow with that string and she told me she wouldn’t replace the string. So now I’m out that money. I didn’t appreciate how she approached it and I won’t recommend powderhorn to anyone.
Great service when I took my son in to get his bow set up! Gave us great tips and very friendly. We’ll be back!
Went there to pick-up an item I had ordered. They were very helpful and accommodating. Would recommend.
Hands down the most friendly and knowledgeable staff in Columbia when it comes to archery. They could not be more helpful setting up a bow for me and teaching me how to use it. Highly recommended!
Bought my first bow from them and couldnt be happier with the customer service, knowledge, and overall experience. Thank you all so much!!
Tried to call right at opening and ask about the process of purchasing a firearm to educate myself and was hung up on. Unfortunate because I’m trying to write a pro-gun paper and am a student trying to learn. Thoroughly dissapointed with how I was treated and would not recommend.
Got a great bow package here. The guy I spoke with was incredibly knowledgable and made the bow buying experience great. I now have a perfect bow ready for hunting.
Excellent place, excellent service. Ive done business there many times and will not hesitate to do business there many more. My favorite gun shop in Columbia
Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I went theyre with my father in law to buy my first gun and they were patient and answered all of my questions without making me feel like an imbecile. A surprising and pleasant experience.
Experience can be found posted on Facebook.
Knowledgeable workers they wont just send you home with anything you have questions they have answers they really know their stuff
Very friendly; if youre one of the guys that spend hours a day there. Every time Ive been there, they act like its a burden to assist me.And thats fine, they dont need my money, and I dont need to be ignored when Im trying to spend my money. Thankfully, they arent the only game in the area.
Good place people are cool and they know what they are talking about. I recommend this place to others
Pay attention to the tags and your receipt. Will charge you more than stated.
I highly recommend that you buy your next bow or gun from Power Horn. Even if you buy is elsewhere these guys will help you with service, accessories and etc. They are really the best in the business. They are great...
Best place in town to shop for any hunting or sporting goods. very friendly folks in there! they all know there stuff!
I would not recommend anyone going here for the bow shop. Took 6 months for them to order my warranty part that I called them weekly about. After they finally ordered it and put it on, they restrung it without tying my peep sight or putting my d-loop in the right spot. Terrible workmanship and terrible customer service in the bow department.
Very knowledgeable staff. very friendly and very helpful. great selection of guns and bows
Very friendly group. They know their stuff. Go here instead of basspro.
This place is FIRST CLASS ! You wont find better service or more knowledgeable people in mid-Missouri. I highly recommend.
Great in door bow range
Hands-down one of the most enjoyable shopping experiences you can have for shooting sports.Ive been visiting Powder Horn over the past year or so for various shooting supplies (nobody else carries Ballistol in stores locally as far as I know!) and just yesterday traded in an old rifle I had inherited towards the purchase of my newest firearm, a Gen4 G27.The owner, Lee, is a very kind and knowledgeable man who wants nothing more than to help you with what you need. Almost every time I visit Powder Horn, Lee and his team are not only helping customers, but exchanging stories with store patrons and making a real connection with their customers. Im afraid I havent learned anyone elses name at Powder Horn, but most everyone that works there recognizes me when I come in; as a young shooter who dresses with a more urban than country flair, I sincerely appreciate that they treat me like any other respectful and courteous customer and not like some thug.In a world where we can all go online and generally buy things for less than what wed spend in a brick and mortar store, these guys definitely keep their prices as low as they can while still maintaining such a professional-grade staff and fantastic store front. The conversation, one-on-one advice and atmosphere are, in my opinion, well worth spending a little bit of extra money to support a local business and walk away knowing you made a well-informed purchase with a team of good folks willing to help you with any trouble you might have down the road.
Always helpful. Lots of good stuff in stock.
Friendly people, knowledgeable and they don’t treat you like youre stupid when they answer your questions.
Went in on a sat, my only day off to get my bow restrung and waited for 15 min to be acknowleged by anyone. Finially got assistance and they said they had to order the string which i understand. I left my bow there so it could be restrung.. They wrote my name and number down and said they would call me when its ready. Got a call the following thur and they said they got the string in. I asked them to restring it and they said theyll have it ready on sat. I drove 35 min to pick up my bow and nobody knew anything about it and it was not restrung. I talked with the young lady that worked there and she advised me it would be done by tue. The following sat i called and guess what, the guy that anserwed told me he couldnt find my string and it was not restrung. I was put on hold and another guy got on the phone and said he had the string and would restring it by the end of the day and would call. He never called back. The week i went to pick up my bow thinking surley it would be done and no it was not. I had to wait to get the peep sight put on. Finally got it home and went to shoot it and the D loop is free on the string. I didnt know it took 4 weeks to have powder horn restring a bow, but i guess if it takes 15 min to get helped then i guess it makes since. Nobody in the store even cared to applogise, they just blamed each other saying it wasnt marked right and they would get it done. Well its still not done. What a joke of a store!!
Staff was helpful setting up my bow and shooting tips.
Lee is one of the best guys and very knowledgeable on any gun
The best place for all your gun and bow needs
Awsome place would recommend this place to anyone.
Friendly and pressure-free environment.
Great honest gun dealer.
They were so nice and helpful
Very friendly, nice selection.
Best bow shop around
Great place.
Love this place
Went into the store looking for my first handgun. The guy behind the counter did not help me or give me the time of day. Plus the prices were high. I will not go again,
Grwat shop.
