I have never been to this restaurant but looking at the owners responses to reviews alone i now want to work for this establishment.
I tried Chickadees for the first time this morning with my 2 children. They were friendly and the food was excellent. The waitress was kind to my autistic son and that is important to me because his directness can be perceived as curtness. The omelet was perfect and we took the fatty melt to go and it was AMAZING!!! Thanks for the great experience. We will definitely be back.
Wow, what a great place!Stopped by on a Wednesday morning after my appointment at the hospital had been canceled (without notifying me) so to put it mildly, I was not in the best of moods!Since I can no longer drive, I was just looking forsomewhere within a short walk to eat. Checked Google maps and they were just across the street and had great reviews. Didnt even know they were there.Walked in, heard the 50s music, was greeted by a pretty, friendly waitress and my mood quickly started to change!The food was good, Jeni was my waitress and the service was just great!As both retired military and law-enforcement, it always means a lot to me when a business owner appreciates and supports our First Responders. Thank you Jeff!All that to say; it was my first time here. I was very pleasantly surprised and will be back any time I am near the hospital and will highly recommend Chickadees to everyone !Again, thank you!(By the way, I had never written a review.)
Great food and great service. Love the atmosphere with the blues playing on the jukebox. Had the hangover hamburger and it was fantastic. So glad this place is back in business!! The owner shook my hand and thanked me personally for my business. Great place!!
Fun place with inexpensive and good breakfast on a pretty huge menu. On top of that some interesting and fun meals in the menu. Never have I had to wait for a table which is a commodity when it comes to Columbia breakfast. Only negative the Corn beef hash is a little off. All things considered my new favorite breakfast place.
My first time visiting during the lunch rush was a pleasant experience — promptly greeted and taken care of, food was fresh and well presented, and the location is moderately easy to get to. Oh, and Kimberly, one of your servers, is absolutely fabulous and always greets with a smile, and honestly deserves a promotion of any capacity! Very valuable member of your staff!

Food is good. Staff is great. They want to make sure your visit is great. Attentive and thorough. Need about $10-$15 for food and drink unless you get a special. Those are usually under $10 and include drink. Yeah!
Looking for lunch with a local flare, we settled on Chickadees Diner. There was a table full of firemen to complement the local flare. Looking for a healthier option, I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich; this was pretty tasty. I saw one of the waitresses carrying a plate with a burger and fries that prompted me to order fries as well. The crinkle cut fries were good too. We had an order of fried green tomatoes to start - these were pretty awesome. We enjoyed our lunch at Chickadees and the time spent reviewing the collection of photos on the wall.
Very slow, and service and management couldnt explain what was going on or why our orders took over 45 minutes just to get. Food was pretty good but service in a timely manner was not. Would not recommend.
My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch (2:30pm). We choose the Friday special which was Fried Fish (Grouper) and it was all you could eat on the fish. The atmosphere was great, great music, great service and delicious food!
This is one of the best Diners in town never disappoint. Food is great and the waitresses awesome. Never had a bad experience there. Friday night fish and Sunday morning breakfast is the best.
The customer service is great. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. But the food was bland. There was absolutely no seasoning on anything. The steak taste more like a hamburger. And The Pittsburgh Omelette was made with steakum meat which was horrible.

The diner was pretty dirty. Tables, salt and pepper shakers, and the bathroom floor were very sticky. Most of the food we got was cold/luke warm. The food was decent though and we got good service.Afterward, two of the six people who ate there got sick. The one definitely has food poisoning. We will not be back.
All my food was fresh, hot, and EXACTLY how I ordered it. Everything tasted so good and my food was 10 minutes earlier than I was expecting, which definitely brought a smile to my face. Everyone who participated made sure I had enough condiments, napkins, and utensils. The tea wasnt as sweet as I hoped but it was probably the correct amount so who cares because my food was Delicious from beginning to end... Lol definitely using and recommending this place from now on! Thank you, thank you, and thank you; the simple pleasures of a decent meal at a great price in ample supply always wins in my book! The lady that took my Togo order was very nice. I ordered the chef salad and a Pepsi. My total was 13.97. After paying I was told they were out of Pepsi and I took a mountain dew instead. When my salad came it had an overeasy egg on it. Yuck! I was expecting it to be boiled. Other than that awesome place.
Visited on a Tuesday morning. Food was quick (under 8-12 mins), hot, and tasty. Wasnt too sweet, too greasy, or too salty. Bathrooms were cleaned, trash emptied, lavatory wiped down. Most items $8- $11, hard to bargain eat. But its an experience theme restaurant. Large menu selection but difficult to read, suggest redesigning for enhanced readability. Waitress was very helpful. If you dont mind the price, its 5 stars.
Went for breakfast after the Pumpkin Run and the food was delicious, atmosphere was friendly and inviting with a somewhat retro decor. Wait staff kept my coffee full and Jeff (the owner I believe) came around twice to make sure the food was good and everyone was taken care of. Try the chicken and waffles, delicious!

The decor reminds me of older style diners, and the food is great. The service was also amazing, one of them came over and talked with me and my friend while we waited for our orders. Definitely worth 5 stars!

Nice, clean, and casual place to eat. The menu is loaded with all kinds of salads, entrees, & other foods. The interior is uniquely decorated with photos of Chickadees brand. This place has a very inviting feel and the food tastes grrrreat!

I went during dinner time, and the server was distracted and took a long time to serve me, even though I was only the second table in the whole place. Then my food was taken before I was finished and I wasnt even offered a box to take my leftovers home. However, the food was good.
They need help in the kitchen. Ordered corned beef hash. Before ordering I asked the waitress if it was real corned beef. What came out was thin sliced deli meat mixed with chopped shoestring French fries. ....should of ordered the pancakes and scrambled eggs. FYI the only toast they have is Texas Toast

My chicken sandwich was great but fries cold and soggy. My biggest issue was the 5 waitresses all having long hair, none had it up so hair will get in the good. Yuck. Plus they were all preoccupied with their cell phones
Me and my boyfriend went here about 3 or 4 months ago the lady who served up was GREAT skinny white lady from Philly I believe Extremely nice but the food wasnt I had a Burger and fries the Burger really didnt have any flavor my boyfriend had chilli cheese fries which didnt have much chilli on them and my cheese fries had shredded cheese on them that was melt on them by using the grill. Customer service great food not really seems to be a sketchy place that opens at their convenience
Went for lunch and the waitress was prompt and kept our drinks full, and the food was good too. I had their bacon cheeseburger and the wife had the hamburger steak. I want to go back in a Friday or Saturday night and play the Live PD bingo game. It looks like a riot to play!

First: this place is pro-ccp and pro-2A, so thats a big plus, even though I dont carry.Came here for lunch. Had the hangover burger. The burger was decent (runny fried egg was so good), the fries were AWESOME (they coat them with some kind of house season salt that has cinnamon and probably some cayenne in there for heat), but the cole slaw was kind of gross. Its not like it was rotten or anything, it was just flavorless and not good. I might be back if Im ever in the area again.

Woke up super early this am while bf was going to work and I was starving. ..only so many places around these parts. Heard great things about yall so I checked out the menu and immediately was starving. ..saw on page opened at 5am but then another page said 8am. Called and spoke to nice dude and said they were open at 5am so went up there, super cute inside like a Lil old diner & had some killer music inside too...Ray Charles, BB King...I got the 5am Breakfast which was 2 eggs, bacon or sausage (I got bacon), potatoes(which were different then most hash browns) and I thought were AMAZING and toast... $5. Super awesome place. Such a large menu...cant wait till I can go back and try more and have bottomless mimosas. ...work day so I figured that might not be a good idea today. Ha. Thanks for the awesomeness!
Friendly folks. Not southern charm friendly, but in a biker/cop/tats/open Cary welcome kinda way. Burgers are ok. Big breakfast menu. Not crowded for dinner.
Very quaint, 50s style dinner but with a twist on the food. I follow a more pescatarian type of diet and was always able to find foods I like

I came here a while ago and had a bad experience. I made a review about it on Yelp which got a professional response from the owner offering for me to come back for a free meal since it was under new management to show me that things had changed. I recently decided to go back and give them a chance so I went back to their reviews to see what other people had said. I saw multiple responses from the owner that were rude and insulting to the customers (many of which would not have changed my mind about going again after reading them). I sent him this message:Me: I was going to come back this weekend so that I could update my review. Because of the rude responses you have left on other customers reviews shows me that you dont care about your customers or their feedback. This also tells me you dont care about improving your business. I will not be back, I will also be sure to mention how you respond to people to anyone who messages me again regarding my review and your company. I hope you learn that if you cant say something nice to not say anything at all, especially in the restaurant industry.Owners response: Lindsay I didnt say anything mean to you I said mean things to the other people who are idiots. I dont think youre an idiot thats why I sent you a nice message to start with. However since you started to act like all the other idiots on this page who are insulting and rude and obnoxious just for the sake of being so without having anything intelligent or helpful to say that Im starting to have my doubts about you too.My final response: Well, I am sorry you feel that way. Nice theme, waitresses are really friendly/easy to talk to which always makes the wait/meal leagues better.Food was much quicker than I thought it would be (though I ordered a quick BLT) and the quality didnt suffer. First time I can say I had fries that beat McDonalds fries.Though it was a double BLT (~$13) maybe there was an option to have a smaller single BLT that I didnt see. If not it would be nice to have smaller portions to choose. Some prices a little more friendly to college age would be nice as well (and for the poor med-student).All I can say other than that is they should really start sending out fliers around Richland and Lexington area because no one I know has ever heard of them and they arent in the most obvious spot.Ill definitely be back when I can actually sit down instead of getting a to go.
Was in Columbia on Friday went to the hospital to carry a passenger and saw chickadees was greeted very warmly by the beautiful waitresses got a great western omelette and everything was delicious would definitely recommend.
Food was average I had the Philly steak it was ok but I will not order it again. Cant wait to try the next thing on the menu. Room for improvement but I am noting counting them out yet.

Horrible experience. Waited over 45 minutes for burgers while our drinks were never refilled without us asking. When the order came out it was wrong. The burgers were also burnt to a crisp. I was really excited to try the new place thinking that it had a cool look, but Ill never be back and I wouldnt recommend that you go either.Okay, so I just got your response. Glad to know that you understand Jesus. Actually I believe if you want to take a snapshot of your menu your kids meals also say kids meals / adult snacks. Is that not correct?We got there at 11 50 for an early lunch for us and to be honest neither for myself nor my sister-in-law were particularly hungry- hence we took the fact that the menu said adults snacks as being something that we could actually order. Are you saying thats not the case?You are totally incorrect when you said we had so many special orders and even if we happen to have special orders a good restaurant can actually handle that.We did not order special orders - the waitress totally screwed that up - to be honest we were under the assumption that maybe she didnt understand what we were asking her and didnt know how to ask for confirmation.You will notice there were piles of onion rings left on the table when we left because for some reason she thought we wanted onion rings with everything and we did not. Dont really know how familiar you are with little kids. But none of ours actually like onion rings they wanted fries. So the reason that all the fries were gone from the one order was because one of the girls had to share the only fries with everybody else. We did not want to have to make a correction to the order because it had taken 45 minutes and we didnt want to wait another 45 minutes.I personally ordered a side salad because Im Keto. I asked for the bacon and the jalapenos to be on the side which would actually be a matter of putting something in a cup unless theyre mixed into your pimento cheese?Do you have a defense as to why all the burgers were burnt? If you would you like to see a picture of the burnt Burgers Ill be glad to post that as well if you would like.I actually appreciate and understand your review of these things to try to keep up with the credibility of your restaurant. But taking personal pot shots at people is totally unprofessional. Arguing on an issue is one thing -but taking potshots is totally different.One other thing.....Is there an issue with my children liking chocolate milk, which by the way only two of them got out of the total of 4. 4 gallons is definitely an overstatement as believe it or not I have the ability to count. There were a total of 2 children with 16 oz cups of chocolate milk. One of the children got a refill. So that would mean 16 oz x 3... That does not equate a gallon.Oh and by the way where do you get the my coupon was from last year its actually still a valid coupon as it has not expired. The waitress actually didnt even get the number from the coupon. Once again, if you want me to post that, Ill be glad to do that as well.

Downtown kind of hard to find, but when u do, the food is great price is great, the store it set in the early 50s. U got to try the chicken club sandwich.
