Theyll be honest with you and answer all your questions. They dont look down upon people who are new to firearms like some shops. Theyre super nice and have great pricing.

I came here looking for my first gun and the man that helped me was so helpful and kind. I almost purchase a handgun he showed me but backed out last minute due to being unsure of the feel of it so I decided to do my research first and then come back. I will definitely be coming back but I wanted to leave a review because as a newbie going to a gun store can be pretty intimidating and I felt none of that on this place.

I recently went to Modern Arms in hopes of purchasing my first firearm. The guys in there made me feel so comfortable picking out my gun. They were very knolageable and couldnt have been any nicer and I was in and out in less then 30 minutes. Ill definitely be purchasing any future firearms from them!

These guys were great! I knew which pistol I liked, was comfortable with and it felt great in my hands, however; it was a .22 and I just wasnt okay with relying on that caliber for self defense. They were wonderful in helping me choose one similar to what I was comfortable with and I have no worries about it at all.

Ordered off the website and they called me as soon as it arrived at their store. When I went to pick it up, I loved how friendly they were and quick to get me through the process. The shop has the kind of atmosphere where you feel like it is a personal experience, unlike going to big box sporting goods stores. I will purchase from them again!

I have been saving up the funds for a while now, and decided to check out Modern Arms for my purchase. Even with the craziness of the global pandemic, Larry made me feel like I was home the second I walked in. Great staff, great stock. I went in and they had exactly what I was looking for. They got me squared away quick and easy. Price was right, only $10 more than the cheapest I found online for the gun I was buying. Worth it to support a local business!

Prices do not reflect current market, very rude and smug when asked to work on the prices. For instance a used 6.5 creedmore ar platform was priced higher than a brand new one across town. Same exact gun can be bought brand new for 140$ less. Despite this I wanted to go ahead and buy to support local small business. “I’ll price match up” was the response I was given when I offered to by the rifle and asked if they had any room on a sling I liked. (Also 20$ above market) when I asked that I was given a long embarrassing rant about how he will not move on price. A simple no I can’t at this time would have sufficed. Instead missed out on selling a rifle possibly 2 that I was ready to purchase right there with hard earned cash. I’m a small business owner myself so I don’t like being beat down on my price other but that’s part of owning a small business. I wasn’t being aggressive while asking these things and I never mentioned how much higher he was either. Very sad to see such a nice guy, I THOUGHT go down that road. He won’t have to worry about me any longer though because obviously he did not want my business or money. Good luck to everyone willing to pay above market.

I cannot say enough great things about this gun shop. I started shooting with my Dad when I was around 10, and have since fallen out of practice. I called this shop up to ask if they had a firearm that I was interested in purchasing at a later date. They didnt have the exact model that I wanted, but they had a very similar model that would allow me to try out, and see how it fit my hand. This gave me a chance to see how I liked the feel of the weapon and the action of the weapon.Even though they were well aware that I had no intention of making a purchase on the day, they spent nearly 2 hours talking with me about about all the questions that I had. They were patient, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. The compassion, kindness, and patience shown by this shop, went so far above the bar, that I will not be visiting another shop.If you are thinking about exploring your God given right to the second amendment, you need to give these guys a call. You will not regret it.

I have bought a ton of things with Larry at modern arms. He is hands down the best gun shop in columbia. Buying a suppressor with him (minus the ATF and wait time) has been the easiest process. With the silencer shop kiosk it is a breeze. Anytime I needed to see if the suppressor would fit on a new build, Larry was more than happy to let me bring in my rifle and try make sure everything would fit. Larry even went above and beyond to allow for some supervised visitation at the range! If you need anything gun related check with Modern Arms first!!!

Id recommend this place to anybody, and I frequently do. Their customer service is unparalleled, and their inventory is unlike any other shop in Columbia. They have a great diversity of old - new merchandise, which is always nice for me as a collector. Its often hard for me to find very specific ammo in places other than online, but Modern Arms has had what I was needing on several occasions.

These guys are awesome! I had looked at a few stores around town, and I had an idea of what I wanted. I was ready to buy at black rifle but just wanted to shop around a bit more. I went in modern arms, the guys were very friendly, he picked up on what I was looking at right away without me having to ask. To my joy, they were about 15 bucks cheaper, plus a lower tax rate! When I asked about a holster for the firearm, they were able to order a custom fit one for me. When I was at black rifle they did not want my old pistol as trade which is fine, it was nothing special, modren arms was able to give me a fair trade in towards my new fire arm. They made everything very easy and are very friendly. Plus since I put the new pistol on layaway, I get to ring the bell twice. They also have a few shot guns that I might be interested in buying. I will be going back for sure.

I usually dont write reviews but after going here I felt compelled to warn the general public. The staff may be friendly and knowledgeable but they gouge you on pricing. Everything is marked up hundreds of dollars. I went in to speak with them about ordering in a rifle that according to my own searching was going for about $775 to $850 range before taxes. I was quoted $1175 for this rifle plus taxes plus a FFL of $30 (I think it was $30 or $35). I later ordered this rifle from a different shop for $855 out the door (taxes and FFL fee included on this price). I also looked at some other firearms and accessories at this place and they were no different, easily a 50% mark-up on most items. Shop elsewhere folks youll save a lot of money.

Larry is great and really tries to take care of his customers. If you want a knowledgeable person to help you make your first gun purchase or your fifteenth, make sure you visit Modern Arms!

Might be a friendly place, but theyll try to rip you off if you want to sell your gun there. Wont mention the guy there, he offered to buy my gun for 35% of the current selling price for a new gun. Id rather keep it than to sell still not broke in gun (~600 rounds shot in total) for 35% of what I paid for. If you want to sell your gun, go else where, this is not a place for that!
