He was very professional yet personable in helping install some new garage door trim and also In repairing a broken photocell for us. Excellent service from my initial call-in to job completion. I was having a problem with the up and down movement of my garage door. The rails were out of alignment and the bracing on one side could no longer be attached to the frame. Kendell McGuffey came out, recognized the problem and engineered a reversed mounting brace - - - -problem fixed.

I would go less if it would let me. My appointment was for 0900 today. I got a text saying window was between 0800-1000. At 1002 I called. They informed that they just fired the scheduler and if ok, they could be here between 1100-1300. I said fine. A bit later they changed it to 1130-1330. At 1400 I hired someone else. In my opinion, they should have let me know they were running late. Additionally, I called three times after 1330 and could not reach anyone (straight to VM). Tech finally showed at 1430 and I informed him he was fired and I had hired someone else.

We had a door opener installed in December 2020 and cant get Academy Overhead Door to respond despite repeated phone calls.

Academy Overhead Door has not responded to us via phone calls, emails or texts. We are in need of an invoice with a work description to justify their charges. After weeks of begging for an invoice, we drove by the business to attempt to pick up an invoice only to learn the address listed online is an open field and there is no business. Dont do business with them, if you for some reason can actually get a hold of anyone. I would give them no stars if I could.

What a great company. James previously fixed a broken spring on our main garage door. He showed up at the end of the day, even though the work-day was over, so our cars werent trapped in the garage. This time, we needed adjusting of our retention cables and adjusting the door so less snow came in. In an hour, we were back to good shape. He also always lubricates, adjusts anything that needs it and tests numerous times. These guys are great. We are going to have them come at least once a year for a tune up. Great company and people!

Academy Overhead Door is amazing! I called to setup a service call for my garage door, which had stopped working properly. It would not go all the way up/down and was very loud. Due to a last minute cancellation, they were able to send a technician out to my house in 15 minutes! The technicians name was Anthony. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He immediately identified the problems. A bolt had come loose and fell out of the arm on the opener, the spring had bunched up, and he recommended replacing the metal rollers with new neoprene rollers to avoid the metal on metal contact that may cause damage to the track and door overtime. Anthony replaced the bolt, fixed the spring, replaced all of the rollers, and did a complete tune-up including lubricating everything in less than 45 minutes. The price was very reasonable. He even offered me a coupon discount. The garage door now works great and is very quiet. Fast, friendly, knowledgeable, great service!

Ethan and Kendall make a great team. Both are personable, smiling and friendly. Explained the different spring options and replaced the broken torsion spring in under an hour. They also lubed the rest of the door assembly for smooth operation. Highly recommend!

Theyve always taken good care of me when Ive had garage door issues. Last time I had to get the runner completely replaced and they fixed it quick so we wouldnt go long without or garage door. This time it was a pretty minor issue. They fixed it up super quick and didnt even charge for it.

Called to repair issue with door not closing in bright sunlight. Tech moved sensors- did not fix issue. Set appt. for next day, but company canceled due to personal issues. Rescheduled for next day. Tech called home number (even though I asked them to use mobile since we were working outdoors) to confirm address- they were just there! Left message to call back and confirm address- called back and went to voice mail but couldnt leave message because mailbox was full. Tech never answered multiple calls. Called office, no one answered.

When our garage door suddenly stopped opening, we called several places and Overhead Door was the only one that could get us in the next morning (which was crucial, since the cars were trapped in the garage!). The two servicemen who came to fix the door arrived about 10:20 (close to the beginning of our 10-12 window) and called prior to heading over to give me a heads up.They were both very friendly, professional, skilled, polite and most of all, seemed to know exactly what they were doing. Im sure weve all had home repair experiences where it seems like the tech is questioning what to do! Even though they needed to run out to get an additional part, they were back in a jiffy and had the whole job done by about 11:30.Since my Dad was out of town and wanted to be in the loop, the repairman talked to him on the phone about what repairs were done and even gave us $35 off the service. The repair comes with a one-year warranty as well.One of the things I really liked is that they didnt pressure us to do other, unnecessary work. We have two garage doors, and only the large one was broken - the springs failed. Some places might pressure you to replace the other (perfectly good) spring in the other garage door, but there was none of that with Overhead Door. I even asked if he thought we should go ahead and replace it, and he said that if it was working fine, there was no need to - some other place might look at that as an opportunity to make some additional money, so I appreciate the honesty.Overall, I was not only impressed with the quality of their work, but the timeliness, friendliness and professionalism with which they approached it. They are a family-run company and it shows. I highly recommend them.

On 12/4/2017 I contacted Academy Overhead Door and received SAME DAY service! Josh and Kendell were the service techs. They arrived on time, completed the work in a timely manner and within the quoted cost. Josh recommended some additional service options but was not pushy. Both were very polite and professional. I would definitely recommend this company and will use them again if I ever need additional work performed.

Door opener stopped working Sunday night, called Academy Overhead Door Monday morning, everything fixed by EOD Monday. What a life saver. Had these guys service my door last year and sticker was still on the wall. Really thought last years maintenance was spot on and James quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue today when he arrived. Amidst my basement flooding 3 times, receiving a $5,000 Loss Assessment notice from my HOA, and getting a screw in my tire...my garage door decides to stop working! I contacted Academy Overhead Door as they are local and family-owned. I was a little disappointed that although the website states Same Day Service No Extra Charge!, when I called I was told that there was an after hours fee of $99.95 (I called around 7pm). Thankfully, Josh was able to come out the next afternoon at the regular service call fee of $29.95. Josh did an awesome job replacing the garage door springs and rollers. My garage door is now working properly and it is so quiet! I will definitely use this company again and recommend them to our neighbors.

At first I was caught off guard because not only was he within the time frame, but was even a bit early to the appointment which is rare for most companies.He started with an inspection and noticed a few problems with our doors. Our garage spring coil reached its lifespan and broke in half in a cold morning. We called Academy Over head Door and they were able to come within 2 hours, same day, replaced the coil, serviced the garage door. The appointment scheduling was quick. Technician Josh gave details estimate as well as recommendations and quickly fixed the issue. There was coupon from their website, and they applied the discount to the invoice with no problem. We are happy with the service and would recommend them for your garage service need.

My garage door opener stopped working suddenly. Academy diagnosed over the phone and found that it could be repaired. Anthony called first and came in a very short time on the same day. We worked with over 10 different companies when we built our home here in Colorado Springs. Academy Overhead Door did not install our garage doors, but I wish they had! Both James and Shawn are true professionals at their craft. They conducted much needed garage door maintenance, we will definitely use their services again next year. I called Academy to repair my garage door. They told me they were busy and couldnt get to me for a week. I agreed to wait and they came on a Monday morning about a week later. The technician was polite and professional. He took about 15 minutes to look at the door and informed me he couldnt fix it that day because he didnt have the needed parts with him. He said he would take some photos and get back to me quickly with an estimate for the repair and a time frame. Four days later I hadnt received a call or an email so I called their office. I explained the situation to the polite young lady on the phone and she apologized for me not having been contacted and said she would call me back with details. She did call me back within minutes to let me know that they could not service my garage door because they couldnt do a commercial garage door repair right now. I understand my garage door(which is on my home not a business) may not be a typical garage door but why not let me know that on Monday afternoon or even the next day? I tried to operate with integrity and waited to hear back from Academy since they gave their word they would. Instead I heard nothing and am now two weeks without an operating garage door. They apologized and gave me no referral to someone who could work on my door. This is simply really poor customer service.Busyness is not an excuse to treat your customers with disregard.Academys delays and lack of communication have now cost me two weeks. I am remarkably frustrated.

Shawn and Matt replaced broken spring on large garage door (they actually were able to arrive and do the work the same morning I called them) and serviced both doors. They were very friendly, professional and efficient and called ahead of arrival and then arrived on time. We have used them before and will use them again and highly recommend them to others.

My experience with this company is not at all like the other reviews. I called and scheduled an appointment for the following week. No one showed so I called to see what was going on and was told somehow my appointment dodnt get put into their new scheduling system and that he would call me back at the end of the day to schedule a time for tomorrow, “any time tomorrow and we will make it happen”. Well not only did he not call me back at the end of the day but no call the following day. There are too many garage door companies in this area to deal with that. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

The lady who took my initial call, Cassia, was very polite and real, she asked for just the basic questions to get me started on my appointment, after giving me an idea of charges, not knowing my issues. I called right after lunch, and though I expected a day delay, she said she could offer a 3-5 pm same day appointment. I almost fainted, and said, oh yes, thank you so much. (My experience with other companies was a day or so, one never even called back). She asked if it was ok to email the technicians bio, for security, with picture. Fantastic! Matt called me with 10 minutes eta, earlier than planned but totally acceptable. He was very polite, professional, and efficient. Matt immediately diagnosed the issue, and said it would be fast and no parts needed. He explained in words I could understand. Academy Overhead Door and Shawn were absolutely wonderful and professional They called in advance to let me know they were on their way and fixed our garage door so we could get in and out of our house after we discovered it would no longer open or close. After repairing our garage door, Shawn showed me how to open the garage manually in case electricity goes out and even let me practice that in front of him. I wish I could give this company a zero, since they literally destroyed my existing garage door opener - which only needed an adjustment. The service tech left our property with the chain hanging from the assembly, broken parts on the floor. Left no paperwork. Left no comments. Just left. I figured they needed to get parts and would be back that day. Never heard from them over the course of the next week. Called them and they indicated theyd get back to me. No response. Period. I called them again and after me pushing the issue, they indicated they didnt think they could get the part - this after DESTROYING my garage door opener. I indicated they had destroyed my opener, and all this lady in customer service could do was tell me she was sorry. So now I have to take these losers to small claims court for destroying my perfectly good opener which only needed adjustment. Stunningly awful service. And they never did give me the part number they couldnt find - only told me I had to call somebody else. I would RUN from this company. They are disorganized, unethical (they destroyed my opener and offered zero assistance in that regard) and frankly just a bumbling organization. Rating: ZERO MINUS FIVE.

Awesome work. One of our main springs broke. We called after hours, they were out first thing. I had friends who had just had this done so I knew the price range. They were very competitive on the price. The tech who show up was polite, knowledgeable and went right to work. The door is much quieter now and works great. Snapped the cable on my door just after noon, called Academy Overhead Door (we had used them before) and within the hour Shawn showed up. A torsion spring on our garage door broke late Saturday afternoon, and when my husband, Jim, called Academy Overhead Door, we immediately were set-up, at our convenience, for an appointment at 8:00 Monday morning. Shawn was right on time. He was very professional and explained the work required to fix our door and gave us a written estimate. Academy Overhead Door gives a military discount which is always wonderful. He did the work promptly and efficiently and everything is working spot-on. Josh did a great job changing out my springs, bushings and rollers. The main rail also got bent and was making a lot of noise. Josh advised that the door would still be able to operate with the bend in the rail. I was able to straighten he rail with a moderate amount of pressure and return it pretty close to its original position and virtually eliminate the noise.

Very prompt service (within 3 hours of calling) - Shawn came and assessed the broken spring, presented a written estimate, got my approval, and completed the job. The door works much more smoothly than before. Shawn knew what he was doing and was pleasant to work with. We will call them again for any future repair needs.

Anthony, the tech who installed my new door springs, was awesome. Very professional and polite. He arrive on time, too. The only minor issue was that when I originally scheduled my appointment, somehow the times got mixed up. I scheduled a 3 PM appointment, and the person I talked to on the phone confirmed that this was the latest time I could be served that day. I then gave her the best number to contact me at, and I also gave a secondary number. I spelled my name out for her, too. However, the day of my appointment, I got a call on my secondary number (no call on the number I asked them to call first, but luckily I just happened to be at my secondary number) at around 8 or 9 AM, saying that the tech was on his way and would be there shortly. Although I appreciate the heads up call, the time was way off. Also, they had my name misspelled. Yet, they corrected the time Anthony came out, and when he arrived at the originally scheduled time, things worked out really well.These three issues (time, phone number, misspelled name) are very minor, though, and overall, I still highly recommend Overhead Door. They did a fantastic job.

I had not had my garage door serviced since Academy Overhead Door did it in 2013. It was not going up and down smoothly at all. Two of their employees (Ethan and Kendell) came over yesterday, took a look at it, gave me an reasonable estimate which I accepted, and fixed it. Now it opens and closes quietly and easily. I was joking with a Comcast guy who was here at the same time, that they (the two young men) were not even old enough to drive, much less fix a garage door! :) Both young men were very polite, friendly, funny, and did an excellent job. Give those boys a raise! lol

We were planning on replacing our whole garage door set up (which would have been a huge hit to our bank account), instead, we were able to just repair what was broken which ended up saving us hundreds of dollars!Shawn was our service provider and was nothing short of amazing! I woke up to a garage door that wouldnt open and our cars were stuck inside. After trying to diagnose and solve the problem, I realized the spring was probably broken. I called Academy Overhead Door and got an appointment for the same day. I managed to get the cars out of single car door. Jame and Josh showed up on time; quickly diagnosed the issue; explained what theyd found and made some suggestions along with providing an itemized quote. They were able to make all the repairs right away. We now have a safer, more functional, quieter door. Id definitely use them again; although I hope we dont have to call them for at least a few years. Thank you for excellent service.

Same day service, fast and very courteous repairs, even in nasty weather. Shawn fixed our problem (door wouldnt open more than a few inches due to loss of tension in the springs), inspected the entire system, and recommended, but in no way pushed, future replacement of 20 year old components. The spring coil on our garage door broke. I called Academy Overhead Door for repair. Matt M arrived at our home less than 30 minutes after making the call. Matt quickly prepared an estimate of repair cost and less than an hour later the repairs were completed and our door was back in service.Matt was prompt, professional, courteous and efficiently completed the repair work.

So I just had Academy Overhead Door out after having another company out three days previous (My garage door is a jerk). What struck me is that Academy noticed I had a broken spring, something that completely evaded the other vendor. I sincerely appreciate their thoroughness.
