I’ve been coming to this store for years, I’m even on their mailing list. Usually I have a fine experience, but the owner is often quite cold, as others have mentioned. Today was kind of the last straw for me, though. I went in looking for yarn for a pattern. I tried to ask the owner for help, and when I showed her the pattern on my phone she snapped at me that she doesn’t look at phones and told me to go across the street to Hobby Lobby. It seems so strange for a small business owner to be sending business away, but I guess I’ll take her advice and shop elsewhere from now on.
Good: Good selection and prices. Friendly helpful clerk. Bad: Store not as big as indicated on website. Lighting could have been better to see colors. Manager/Owner so abrupt, boarder line rude. If I hadnt already chosen what I wanted, I would have left without buying anything. As it was I spent less time and money then I would have.
Wow huge selection of yarn Ive never personally seen before! The owner Im assuming was so nice and patient and answered all my questions. I had many. Mostly whats thissss haha I was going up and down the isles in yarn heaven trying to decide what I wanted! Very organized, theres much more than I got pictures of. Ill definitely be coming back. They have patterns too! As well as they do crochet a longs! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!
I walked in and the lady came up right next to me to explain the store’s layout and ask me to leave my purse at the front. She was not wearing a mask and had a self made tag saying she was medically exempt. If she at least had the decency to not talk in my face and stay a few feet away maybe I would’ve shopped there. As it was, with her lack of trust towards me and yet talking to my face without wearing a mask, I just left. I won’t support a store like this.
I was so impressed with how clean and organized the shop was! It was all organized by color or brand! The lady behind the counter (I failed to get her name) was so very nice and even offered to teach me to knit since I only know how to crochet! Ive already started in my next project and can not wait to go back!:)
First time in this store. I spent 45 minutes picking out 16 skeins for my project. When it was time to check out and wind 5 of the skeins, the owner came in and said they were going to have a meeting. I had already given my CC to the salesperson and then was told that I would have to come back for the yarn as it would have to be wound and it takes 30 minutes. I was the only customer in the shop. Due to the lack of consideration of my time and the customer taking priority, I did not purchase the yarn and would never recommend this store to anyone.
As a new crocheter I was excited to have a shop so close to home and looked forward to my first trip out since the quarantine. I have lung problems and am on oxygen. I immediately noticed no one in the store wearing masks but they have masks hanging on the door for you to make?? Seems to be a mixed message. I still went in because I think everyone has the right to wear a mask or not. My husband and I choose to wear them. I noticed all the signs of rules on the door when I first walked in and told my husband it seems like there are a lot of “NOS” before you even walk in. Once inside the lady seemed nice if not a little annoying but I can handle chatty. She approached me and I backed up and politely said, I am at risk and practicing safe distancing so I’m going to keep 6 feet away. She seemed irritated and shrugged her shoulders and said fine. She then proceeded to rush over and move a basket that was close to me saying “let’s get this out of the way”. It wasn’t in my way, she was. Again, I appreciate trying to be nice but I just said I need you to keep a distance. As we were checking out she made a comment about the strange times and being safe and my husband said we are trying to be and she commented that there have been viruses for hundreds of years. My husband said yes, but it can’t hurt to take precautions. She made us feel very uncomfortable for wearing masks. By the way, in addition to the DIY masks hanging in the door, there are signs everywhere telling you not to rub yarn on bare skin!! Make up your mind and look at the information for businesses operating post quarantine. Great selection and so close to home but I will never go back.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff! Great yarn selection, tools and resource books. Will definitely go again and again.
I was so surprised at the negative reviews I read before I visited this shop. The owner greeted me as I came in, and offered me any help she could provide, as she was with another customer it took a minute. As soon as the customer was done, she came over to me to explain the give away free patterns. She had a crate full as told me to help myself.First time I have EVER encountered that generosity in a knitting shop, and I have been to at least 50 of them across the country and in Canada. She was so helpful pointing out things I was looking for, offering suggestions. She was NOT pushy, but WAS very sweet and helpful. I give this store 5 stars, and wish there were more like this one. Her prices were much better than any other yarn shop I have frequented, including their sale prices!I highly recommend this shop!As far as the bad reviews, I would chalk it up to a disgruntled customer, who took an offense at something.
My favorite shop to go to! I love coming here for all of my knitting and crochet needs, I even brought my sister here when she came out to visit. The owner is always willing to take her time to help you out and find exactly what youre looking for. In addition, price played for the quality of yarn is awesome, their prices are very fair and you never know what you can find in their sale basket up front! Been coming here for years and will continue to do so for as long as I live in Colorado.
Great place for reasonably priced yarn. Great class offerings and group meetups.
A little surprised at the negative reviews.. this is a great place to shop for yarns. They have wide selection of choices. Truly one of my favorite places to go to when im in the mood to knit.
One thing thats very noticeable as you enter is a list of rules from the owner, which can seem fairly off-putting. If youre an adult by yourself this is probably fine, but it doesnt seem very welcoming to those with children or those with animals. (Not that Im expecting the owner should be fine with parents who let their children run wild and cause chaos, or allow non-service animals into their store...)That aside, each time Ive been in here Ive received good service, and I like their selection of needles. Lots of yarn, although sometimes Im looking for something less scratchy or of a different style than what they tend to carry here.
I was very disappointed in my visit. Though the shop has a nice selection at nice prices, it was very clear from the moment I stepped foot in the shop that my children were not welcome. I tried very hard to keep them well behaved but it was not good enough for the shop owner, who was made very nervous by their every action. I finally left before I made my purchase and was surprised that the proprietor seemed to think that was the best option too. I will not return. But if you dont have children or have the luxury of shopping without them, I am sure you will be much better received.
Susie at the Yarn Outlet is one the most respectable and kind small business owners I personally know. Her store is always neat and clean. She has many repeat customers because she truly cares about her customers needs.I would lend a hand to Susie any time of the day if she need.
We enjoyed looking at the great selection of sock yarn. The sale table has some good bargains, too. Friendly and knowledgeable proprietor.
While the store is clean and well stocked I felt very uncomfortable in this store. the woman who owns the establishment seems more interested in guarding her stash and talking down to customers than she does about treating her customers with kindness. I bought my items and left with no intentions on ever returning
The store itself is very well stocked, clean, and quiet. However, if you have a service animal, I discourage you from visiting this store.Upon entering, the woman attending the front desk seemed instantly aware and upset by my service dog. My dog took a moment to sniff some yarn and stood up after being told to sit to alert me to someone coming. The woman took this as misbehaving. I was asked, What does the dog do for you? I answered that she alerted me to my medical condition. I was told that was an insufficient answer and pressed for more. My medical history is private, however, I still explained what my dog does for me; keep me safe. Still, I was pushed for more and told I needed to come up with more concrete answers next time I come in.This treatment caused me a panic attack, an unacceptable outcome of trying to get what I need to knit. Had I not been so rudely pressured like I was, I likely would have bought something. Due to my treatment however, after receiving the advice I came in to get, I left. I will not return. If you have no service animal or children your experience may be drastically different. Perhaps it is the perfect store for you. But if you do have a service animal or children, do not go here. You will not feel welcome.
I like many others have found the selection at the store to be excellent. However, the prices seem a bit high at times and their return policy is awful. I bought over $100 in yarn but then changed my mind about the project I exchanged my yarn and received about a $60 credit (this was in October). I returned after the first of the year to purchase more yarn with my credit only to be told I no longer had a credit. Apparently at the beginning of every year they throw out all store credits and start over. The store owner claimed she calls people to warn them this is occurring but I never received a call. Ive never heard of credit expiring, thats like saying money expires. It worked well for them I suppose they got to keep $60 of my money with nothing in return.
My first experience here was good, but my second was very disappointing. My daughter has a new service dog and the shop owner was very rude and keep asking what specific tasks the dog did for her because I have a right to ask. The dog was quiet and not misbehaving. My daughter answered her questions well, but the owner was not satisfied with her answers. We will never go back.
I really want to support local businesses, but an incident today ensures I will no longer be a patron of this store. Approximately three weeks ago, I went into the store looking to purchase additional yarn to complete two different projects - both yarns were purchased two weeks earlier. The store had one of the colors in stock, but after searching high and low, a staff member was unable to find the other color. I was told they could check to see if they could get more in the shop, but no guarantees. I agreed to leave my name and phone number and was told someone would contact me within the next two weeks to let me know about the search. I was sceptical based on at least two other searches/special orders for which I was not contacted with an update, but I remained hopeful this time would be sucessful. Today, I received a phone call saying a ball of yarn was waiting for pickup and would be returned to stock by May 4, if I did not come in to purchase. I asked to have the yarn held until next week, since this was the first I heard of the yarn being available. I was told no. In attempting to clarify the policy for special order holding/notification, I realized it was not the special order, but a ball of yarn I asked to be kept behind the counter just in case. I apologized, said it could be returned to stock, and as I tried to ask about my special order, the person who identified herself as the owner told me, it was not her job to keep track of customer projects. Given the tone of her voice throughout the conversation (annoyance clearly came through from the start,) I decided to end the conversation by saying I would no longer be patronizing the store. My interactions with all the employees have been great and they are quite helpful. I cannot say the same for the owner as she has not been particularly helpful and her customer service with special order follow-up is either lacking or in this case, confrontational. Certainly not in the spirit of going out of her way to meet the customers needs.
Ive been in this store several times, and have been happy with the selection and prices. The owner, however, is very rude. While I was shopping with my son, she was on the telephone with someone talking extensively in a negative way about another customer. So unprofessional and disrespectful. She was also rude and short with my son and me ~ wouldnt answer questions, rolled her eyes ~ just not a nice person. But I was making a scarf for my son and since he was with me, we picked out some yarn together and went up to purchase it. My credit card is not signed on the back. She told me I had to sign it. I told her that none of my cards were signed and I have a drivers license to verify my identity and signature. She refused to take my card unless I signed it. We left without purchasing anything and went to a different store. I wont go back there again. Shes just too unpleasant to deal with.
Nice variety of yarn, both current and discontinued. Friendly and helpful staff. Love this place!
They do not accept returns even with receipt for yarn but they do offer credit. On needles however they dont even do exchanges. I bought circulars here and the join was rough and unusable but I cant return them so the money is just gone. Ive never been to a yarn store with these kinds of policies. Oh and their yarn is NOT discounted except for the sale table just like any other yarn store. Regular prices with discount treatment. I wont be back.
Ive been shopping at this store for 2+ years now and have always had a great experience. The store owner and staff are knowledgeable and helpful with great ideas and insight.
Some lovely yarns. Most of the staff is very nice and helpful.
The owner has a wonderful shop and is always helpful, and its easy to get to. My mother is crafty with knitting and crocheting and Susie always helps me get whats best.
Wonderful customer service!
Online and door sign says open at 10 but store is still closed at 10:45....
Rude owner. Will not be shopping here again. When I asked for 3 more skeins of yarn when she was checking me out, she responded that she was not my personal shopper.
Wondeful
