We stopped at The Sweet Elephant after touring the Garden of Gods. It was one of our all time favorite wine tasting experiences. The people were super nice and one really gets a good sampling. The wine and food was delicious and we LOVED their bred - turns out their baker is from Austria, just as I am. So the owner sent me on the road with a loaf of there fantastic bread - she is just a sweetheart!!!
Stopped here with my husband this Friday and was helped by Justin! Justin was so kind, funny, and helpful! He really listened to what my husband and I like to drink and had gave us multiple selections to try. Every wine we tried was so great! We were so impressed with Justin’s customer service and wine skills! Will be back in soon! The flamenco white is now my all time favorite! Thank you guys!
I stepped into the Vino Colorado Winery for a quick wine tasting and charcuterie board and was blown away by the assortment and knowledge of the proprietor Justin. He met me with a welcoming demeanor and began to derive my taste in wine in moments. He then offered a tasting of select reds that are sourced organically through the establishment and I decided on a Syrah that was more than robust. The charcuterie board came in a small or large size and I opted for the small, and as a 200lb man this was a suitable accompaniment for the wine. It had a pleasant assortment of salted nuts, mixed meats, toasted bread, pickled vegetables, and palate cleansers. The centerpiece that drew everything together was the sweet aspect to the board. It boasted fresh bananas with a caramel dipping sauce. It contrasted well with the salted nuts. Overall, I recommend this establishment to anyone craving a great wine and awesome conversation
Went to visit the winery and wanted to see justin but no longer there. We havent gone in a year or so since covid hit and we always usto go all the time and walk out with 8 bottles. We had a wonderful experience doing a wine tasting with our sommelier, Justin! We enjoyed trying the 8+ wines (for free!) and the explanations provided about each wine were very informative and helpful. We joined their wine club before leaving. Can’t wait to be back!
This is such a cute quaint place. I was greeted with a smiling face, Maya made our visit one to remember. She was super helpful and friendly. Well definitely become regulars!
Amazing family owned small business!! The coffee, wine and food is always wonderful. If visiting old Colorado city I highly suggest making a pit stop!
What a fun, relaxing place! Good local wines, really tasty and homemade lunch items, friendly service, and a relaxed country atmosphere.
Were not much of a wine drinker... but this wine was amazing! The owner let us sneak in after hours for a little tasting and the red wine Flamenco Red was so good, not too dry not too sweet. Worth the stop!
Love the wine I tasted (wound up buying several bottles) and the staff was super friendly! The location is also dog friendly.
We stopped here for a quick drink while we were in the area and we were really pleasantly surprised by how good the wine is! We didn’t realize it was made locally, and appreciated the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We got a chocolate dessert too that my kids loved. We’ll definitely be back, check it out if you haven’t yet!
Loved the wine tasting, the bread is great. Small local business at its best. Thank you.
Thank you guys as pleasant as can be .... food was pleasing to my eyes . And staff
The staff is amazing! Great customer service. If youre gonna eat definitely try the smothered breakfast burrito. They also do wine tasting, i personally think the peach moscato was great. And lastly the hot chocolates are to die for try the cinnamon hot chocolate. Definitely gonna come back when i visit again canr wait!!!!
We stopped in for a quick coffee on our first visit to Old Colorado City, and whoa... What an unexpected treat! The gentleman behind the bar was patient and very nice, and the wines were out of this world. Dont leave without trying their Plum wine. The menu is impressive, and for coffee, its hard to beat the Toasted Zebra. Kudos 👍👍👍
Very pleasant, and some good sweet wine🍷
Great customer service, amazing food, great drinks and lots of smiles
Always love coming here friendly staff and good wines 🍷 highly recommend
I have been here a couple of times and they have a great selection of wine! Plus, they sell coffee and the coffee is AMAZING!!! I have gotten the Lavender Latté and its SO GOOD!!
Great wine, great food, great service! Highly recommend!
Thank you Justin for your hospitality and amazing food and wine. Such a cute place to visit.
Awesome place to grab local wine that is delicious!
I love the winery I have been going since 2017. We went to taste wine for my daughter wedding. I bought 3 cases and we enjoyed the wine so much we didnt serve at the wedding. When anybody come in town that is our first stop. Everybody has ended up taking a case home. Please if you havent gone there to test wine you need to go. Trust me you will fall in love with the wine.
This is by far my favorite coffee shop, my girlfriend and I come here every time we have the chance, it has such good atmosphere, and the nicest lady makes our day♡
Lovely owners. They gave us a complimentary wine tasting and the server was very sweet and helpful. We ordered coffee and it’s probably the best coffee I’ve had. My order was an iced hazelnut coffee with milk.
Always an amazing experience. Jen was super friendly and offered the best selection on wine AND coffee. This place is a must when we come to OCC.
Great sweet wines!
Very welcoming and cozy environment. We had fun tasting wines and left with several bottles!
We stopped in on Saturday evening to listen to live piano music and enjoy the happy hour. My husband and I both found wines we liked through the free tasting and enjoyed a glass with appetizers. The feta dip was wonderful! I felt it was an inviting atmosphere, cute decor and fairly priced. All in all it was a nice evening out.
Super friendly staff went above and beyond to serve us. Family owned and operated, all the way to the grapes. Creative wines, cozy atmosphere and lovely vibe. Overall great experience and worth the stop. Definitely will be back!
My wife and I accidentally stumbled across this wonderful shop and its friendly employees & owners (Don & Susan), seven years ago. Weve continued to visit over the years and watch the S.E. expand in size, ambiance and services without them forgetting how to treat everyone (new or old patrons) who walk into the shop with warmth and kindness. Last night, even though we are ALL in a nervous state of individual safty, my wife and I decided to chance it (only the 3rd time visiting a resturant during Covid) and go to our favorite place, the S.E. for our 40th anniversary. Susan & Don were there and we had one of our most enjoyable and pampered aanniversary in our lives, they make you feel more like family than friends or patrons. God Bless & stay healthy!
We walked right in Sunday afternoon and ended up enjoying endless wine samples. There were so many delicious, unique choices it was so hard to choose 4. While slightly above my average price range for wine, I fell in love with the Flamenco Red and Sweet Endings. Worth the price, especially for the phenomenal service!!
The wine tasting was very nice and tasty. They say there’s 5 tastes, but it ended up being 7 mostly red wine. Happy hour from 4 to 6.We then had 2 glasses of our favorite wine and left with a $10 bill. Grace got a big tip on top of that. Thank you.
Superb hospitality! Very accommodating and kind! Delicious wine and food!
Wine bingo is so much fun! Amanda and Justin make it even better! We come all the time, we love the wine, the atmosphere and the people! No place better than the sweet elephant!
My fiancé and I are from Omaha and we’re venturing the streets of Old Colorado City. This family owned business caught my eye because of the elephants (they are my favorite animal) so we HAD to go in. It was such a pleasant visit! The coffee was amazing and the wine was fantastic! The gentleman that helped us out went out of his way and talked to us about the wines and was super friendly. We will definitely be ordering more wine from this place. ❤️
We had a beautiful baby shower here. The food was amazing, the wine was incredible and the service was even better. The room they had for our event was great sized with lots of seating. The staff was so attentive and kind. I highly recommend the food, the wine, just all of it!
Excellent selection of wine, great atmosphere! The staff is awesome very helpful and corteous and the charcuterie board was fantastic!
I am not a wine drinker, but after coming across these wines, Ive actually found some I really like. They actually have a good flavor. This is the only place Ill go and the only wine Ill buy. The shop itself is really cute too with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Im looking forward to the new one opening, so its less of a drive from where I live.
I am not a huge wine fan but this place is very fun a quirky. They have free walk in wine tastings and fun workers. Sign up for their email listing to get invited to their bingo night!
I am very new to drinking wine. I have never really been a fan of wine before. I was on vacation in Oregon and went to numerous wineries. I was more impressed with Sweet Elephant than the others I had been to. I decided I wanted to try one here in town and invited my mom. Great service, wonderful atmosphere, we were able to taste several wines and I enjoyed almost all of them. I ended up buying several bottles to take home. My favorites were Pomegranate Red and Flamenco white. I will definitely be coming back regularly!
Don and his wife were so sweet. they make their wine, and they invited me in for a free tasting! i am currently very cozy, sitting and watching football with a glass of happy hour wine. awesome, thank you guys!
Grace is sweet. grabbed a soft pretzel 3x the size of reg soft pretzels & delicious German potato soup hit the spot! Ill be back
This is the go-to place for our Friday Date night wines. My husband and I love a sweeter red wine and our favorite so far as been the plum and the pomegranate red wines. We both notice that we have fewer side affects than other bottles of wine and the taste is very smooth will little after taste. We also have enjoyed their dessert wines as well. If you are into sweeter fruit wines, this is the place to go. The cost is about $20/a bottle if you are a member of their wine club. They also do wine tastings as well.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff, and a great wine selection! Not sure what wine you like? They will help you narrow it down. Also, there are cheeses to pair with your wine. I highly recommend it if youre in the area!
I came in here looking for a special brand of wine. They didnt have the wine I was looking for, but the owner asked me to taste some of their wines. I stayed for a bit and had a great impromptu tasting! He also directed me to the correct wine store for the brand I was looking for. I ended up buying 3 bottles of wine because they were tasty and the service was great! Thanks so much!
Great wine bar! Tasting was great. Many good wines. Had feta appetizer and did a few hours of work with free internet. Windows open to main Street and can watch the people pass by or drop in. Staff was so helpful with wine selection and anything else. Just a cool place to hang out and enjoy.
Went to the wine and cheese event this past weekend. It was great. the staff was amazing. The wine was excellent. I will totally return. I had a couple of friends with me and they had a great time as well. The owners will make you want to come back due to their great hospitality.
I was not satisfied with this cafe. Their tables are dirty, their floors are dirty, I sat down and the table had trash on it. The guy who took my order was very rude to me. They have no vegetarian options at all and their food is very overpriced.
I absolutely love getting the Toasted Zebra at the coffee bar. Each time I have gone, they have wonderful art by local artists displayed.
Great wine tasting to find out what you like! Their flavors are super unique and the owners and workers are so nice and knowledgeable
Amazing wine with a taste for everybody. The employees that helped us went above and beyond. They even gave my fussy toddler a banana. I highly suggest!!!!
We went in on the Friday night of our anniversary weekend and lucked out with the owner behind the wine bar. He was very generous with samples and his knowledge of the wine-making process. His wife was working too, and it is clearly a friendly, family-owned business! All the wines were delicious and priced reasonably. A must do for wine-lovers in CO Springs!
The service was great and the wine was even better! We came here for the first time on Valentines day and the owners wife treated us to a glass of wine and the food was excellent!! Definitely suggest for a fun day.
Some friends and I did a painting class and wine tasting. It was SO much fun! Justin was awesome and so was our painting teacher Naonna. The wine was great! None of us had painted before and Naonna made it fun, easy and helped everyone when they needed it. Super fun, awesome staff! We will definitely be back!!!
Taking a walk in the rain in OLD COLORADO CITY, a hidden historical gem, and the doors were open at THE SWEET ELEPHANT! An excellent place to relax and enjoy wine. We were treated like old friends and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the great variety of wines. We shall return!
The best place in town. Good coffee options and great wine. Free tasting!
I love The Sweet Elephant. Very friendly staff, free wine tasting, and a wonderful selection of Colorado wines. Very nice place to sit and visit with a friend. The appetizers are delicious too.
As a new resident of Colorado, I search for that Southern Hospitality every single day. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. With my parents visiting from Texas, we went in looking for a few bottles of wine to add to their collection. We left with a few CASES of wine, coffee and warm hearts. I highly recommend this wonderful establishment.
The manager was amazing helped us with everything was very patient with us during our first tasting.... I would recomend to anyone of my friends or family. Try there bread definately one of the best parts of our experience
We had a great experience and highly recommend! Wine was fantastic and so was the hospitality. Stop in, you wont be disappointed!
Truly enjoyed the wine tasting. Very friendly. I love that the money from some of the wine selections go to support animals in our local zoo. Whats a better reason to enjoy a glass of wine? :)
Don and his wife are amazing. Their homemade artichoke dip is delicious and their wines are delectable. This is a VERY cool place to stop for a drink and a snack in a relaxed comfortable atmosphere.
Every time I go to the springs I go to this winery. They ALWAYS have free tastings. Their staff are friendly and professional. And they have unique Colorado wines that can only be found in this winery. Definitely recommend it for a good ending to a day trip in the springs. You will always leave with a bottle or two because its just that good ;)
Just stopped by while touring the town today and the woman working was incredible. So sweet, accommodating and helpful. My 2 year old was begging for grapes (as he saw them strewn about the wine cellar) and the barista made it happen! Made me happy to see this level of customer service
We held our sons engagement party at The Sweet Elephant on Thanksgiving weekend. Don and Susan, the owners, were so professional and helpful. Our guests were very impressed with the venue and the quality of the wines they carry. It was the perfect location to host this event. we have been customers of this store for several years and our guests will now be customers also.
Above and beyond, nice staff, great coffee. Very kid friendly.
Very nice small wine bar. Very much a small business. Felt like a family run place. Groovy local wines, and fun tasting. The charcuterie we had was great too. Caution, a tad pricey...
My wife has been here for the painting events several times and always had a great time. I stop by in the morning when I can for a coffee or cappuccino and a nice chat with the friendly staff. And some of the pastries and desserts Ive had have been wonderful.
First time we were there was excellent (let us taste our choice of wine)but this time guy that was working was rude chose what wine we were tasting after not listening to a word we said about what kind of wine we like...and had no idea what he was talking about. Seemed like he just wanted us out of there from the moment we walked in.Wines were great but service ruined the whole experience. First time we were there a year ago we loved it... this time ruined it.
Amazing selection of some of the finest wine Ive ever tasted. Bought some when I was in town and will likely order more online in the future
Soggy sandwich with little meat, asked for a cappuccino but got a latte instead. Some gray haired manager (I assume) cussing out the employees, making for a very uncomfortable experience for everyone in the room. The only redeeming qualities was prompt service from the wait staff but honestly I just feel sorry for them that they work for a manager so unprofessional. The wines were decent, just very new so expect lighter tastes and less tannins than more mature wines.
I stopped in for a bite and was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary wine tasting from the wine maker himself. My two young boys with their under developed pallets coaxed their mom to take them across the street for Pizza. I stayed and had a wonderful bowl of chicken tortilla soup and a fabulous (and generous) glass of Pinot Noir. I could have stayed all day watching people out the window scurrying by in the rain while I sat warmly inside on a comfortable couch enjoying yet another glass or two of wine. But instead I had a new first time experience. And that was disappointment in seeing my family come back.
Meh. Not so great of signage, not so great of an interaction. This place is probably only handicapped because the owners bring their issues directly from home to work. But the food may be amazing and the wine has probably got some serious value. I just dont like the way they run their business.
Amanda was phenomenal! She was extremely knowledgeable, and friendly! Based on what we told her she made great recommendations! The wine is awesome!!!!
Good food and even better wine! I seriously recommend it. The flamenco white is my absolute favorite wine.
Solid coffee. I did not try the wine yet (next time!) but the coffee was for sure in my top ten list.
This is our second visit, it was great the first time 3 1/2 years ago. Even better this time we were treated like long lost friends.
Most excellent coffee and if you are hungry the Da Vinci is the best french dip type sandwich Ive had.Very pleasant owners and employees. They seem give out wine tastings of their wine as well but did not partake.
Very homey kind of wine/coffee bar. Good place to relax and have a glass. Pomegranate red was delicious
I really liked the service provided here. Very courteous and helpful staff. The wine is great, too!
Bri is a terrific barista. We love her lattes. Hot for me and cold for my husband. Comfortable surroundings, great service. Yummy treats.
Very tasty wine! Definitely worth the price!!! Try out their free wine tasting, all made in Colorado! I suggest the Pinot Noir and Shiraz, the owner and staff were extremely friendly! Words can not express it enough.
First time coming here, super friendly staff and super delicious sandwiches and tea! I do wish they had more vegetarian options though.
Free local wine tasting. Great menu for light eating. Try the feta dip. You wont be disappointed.
Friendly staff! Awesome environment! Delicious coffee, wine & food
They have a great selection of Colorado wines. We tasted about a dozen a bought 3 bottles. The staff is supper friendly and helpful.
Good wine. Great and affordable gift wines. And now they ship!
My go-to for grest wine, cheese plates, brunch, lunch or coffee. Wonderful warm atmosphere. Welcoming owners.
