The second I walked into the door my jaw dropped! Everything was clean, organized by size and color corridinated, great prices and friendly service. I really wish this store was in KS so I could visit it often. Highly recommend π
Occasional good deals on some clothes and theyβve got super cheap books but every time Iβve tried to sell theyβve turned me awayβ¦ Every. Time. Wonβt be driving out of my way again to try. If youβre looking to sell you may want to try another consignment shop.
I absolutely love this store. Ive been shopping and selling here for over two years. Have never had any problems with any of my grandkids clothes that I sold. The point is to sell/buy βgentlyβ used clothes.. so with the exception of a couple items that I miss sometimes seeing that have a couple stains, they have purchased everything.I have bought plenty of toys from here too. They have all worked. They check them for you before you leave to ensure it works before you purchase it. Now on to the staff ... they have always been very professional, helpful and friendly.
Shout-out to Nicki for amazing customer service. I absolutely loved her!! Great selection, great prices, and amazing deals. Will be coming back soon for sure!!
Great service and plenty of clothes to choose from, some brand kew with the tags still on them.
This store is the laziest once upon a child Iβve ever seen. Always wanting to give some poor excuse why they cant buy from anyone. I have stopped shopping here as well.
Great store! Clean and a wonderful selection! I have never sold here, only a buyer. Iβve left happy every time!
Good Luck selling anything. Their famous last words are βSorry, weβre all quoted out for today.β Um, you just opened two hours ago. π
Ive never brought in items to sell, but my experience as a customer has been great. I love a place with a large selection of cute, clean, used baby clothes. And what a selection they have! The store seems a bit crowded because it is so full of merchandise, but everything is well organized by size and even color. Of course the prices arent as low as at the ARC Thrift Store or Goodwill, but the selection is way better and the clothes are in great shape and clean (and even smell really clean)! There are toys and other baby items available as well, but the clothes are the main attraction for me. The staff are also friendly and try to be helpful. I will definitely be going back to purchase more kids clothes.
Donβt bother if youβre selling. I donβt know why I ever try. I bring in boxes of name brand clothing and they take 1-2 items. Today was the final straw as I brought in 10-15 big baby items such as walkers, pack and play, doorway bouncers, etc.. all of which were in perfect condition as they lived at grandmas and were barely used and all of which were bought 5 years ago when my daughter was born brand new. They didnβt take anything. The reasons they gave were that they were older than 2011 (I donβt see how thatβs possible as they were bought brand new 5 years ago) . They even said one of the items had a few specks of GLITTER on it and thatβs why they couldnβt take it.... Iβll also note that when walking around most of the clothes appear VERY much used and faded. Itβs ludicrous. Completely done.
Iβve been selling and buying at this location since my children were tiny babies (so, 6ish years) and it has just gotten more and more frustrating to do business with them. It used to be such a pleasant, easy going experience but lately every time I go in to sell the employees act like this is the first time anyone has ever wanted to do such a thing and are downright annoyed by your presence. The last couple of times, theyβve been βfullβ by early afternoon. I could go on and on about why todayβs experience will be my last, but seriously... just improve your customer service.
My husband and I visited this location twice while we visited Colorado Springs. Both times we had great experiences with the associates. Plus it helped that the store was so clean and organized. There was so many great deals and pricing, we had to come back a second time.Fast forward 8 weeks later, we return home to KS. I messaged this facebook group asking if they had more season appropriate clothes for my 3 girls. They messaged back promptly, shopped virtually, sending pics and asking questions to help me find what I needed remotely.LOVE LOVE LOVE THE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Jessica went above and beyond to help accomodate my shopping!! Even with shipping, the price per item still made it worth to shop from this location versus the second hand kids store here in KS.Highly recommend!
I love this store. Ive never really shopped but Ive sold my childrens clothes here. Ive been in the store when people are rejected and its the same story from Nevada to Georgia. LoL The person hoping to get money back for used clothes get mad, yell, lie and just dont understand. I dont understand it. Like I said, I bring in my childrens clothing and have never had a problem. Maybe like two shirts at the most wont make it. They see little stains I dont. I only saw my cutie baby I it. LoLI do buy movies and toys from here. They check for quality so we can be sure that it works right and it always does. I have never had an issue with this store. The staff is always smiling and friendly. I just hope I find a place like this when my pumpkins get older.
The store itself is great. Im rooting for you! I love the idea, love being there... its a fun experience to shop at this store, but the fun stops at the registers. My brief time with one particular employee has soured the place for me, though there are some wonderful workers there as well.I rarely leave any reviews online, especially negative ones. The way one employee speaks to me is cold, distant, judgmental... both when Im buying and when Ive tried to sell bigger items. When Im checking out she is often just quiet and cold. Maybe preoccupied? Not the best in service, but not the worst. In terms of selling.... I understand if Im hoping to sell something and the answer is no. No IS an acceptable answer. Im a grown up and can take that. But telling me no with the tone of the voice, the slumping body language, the blank stare...? That all tells me that I am not welcome... and I do not want to come back. I believe this woman might be a manager. You dont treat people that way. So Ill shop elsewhere.
The last two times I tried to drop off clothes to consign, they were not accepting anything. I was there within the first hour of the store opening. It is disappointing and a waste of time. I will not be shopping this location any time soon.
Friendly stuff. Good organized. Got so many nice pieces for a really good price. Ill come back for sure!
I absolutely love Once Upon a Child. I have been shopping here for about 6 years now for both of my kiddos. Great prices on great items! Customer service is great, some of the employees know me by name which is so nice. As you get into the older kids shoes and pajamas, some items can be really worn and so I just buy them new. I know the rules for trying to sell stuff here, and sometimes I bring in something that is in wonderful condition and it gets turned down... so what I do is just save that item and bring it in a week or two later and someone else will pass it and take it. So if you have encountered this situation- just bring back your item a few weeks later and try it again. ;)
Good deals overall. Sometimes they are a little picky about what they take. Then you find an item in their inventory thats worse than the one you tried to sell them.
I am absolutely in LOVE with this store! Everything is priced really low and when things go on clearance they are dirt cheap. Not to mention all the clothing looks brand new & some of it still has tags! I managed to buy 17 pieces of clothing, some of them sets, for only $42! And I think one of the sets was marked incorrectly, $1.50, and it was on sale so it came out to .60 cents!
Many better choices, these days. Use google to find an alternative.Iβve been going to this consignment shop since this location opened. They have a great variety, moderate prices and amazing sales. Unfortunately the employees destroyed any love I had for this shop, over the past year. The cashiers are rude, grumpy, and extremely off putting. I used to call in to ask if something was available and it was never a problem, they always encouraged it (even if they didnt have time right then and had to call back). Now they just pretend to look and say βyou can come in and look, if you wantβ I enjoyed the new rewards program but coming in for my discount used to be fun, now I just leave my discounts because I never want to go unless I have to. Now there are so many other choices for childrenβs consignment, thankfully. Tons of shops in the area have a comparable variety, better prices and higher consignment payouts AND SOME LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE
They have nice things for decent prices. However, if you plan to sell here, they are very selective and were only able to make an offer on two items out of a whole 13 gallon bag. I got less than $3. None of the items in the bags were stained or torn. Just keep in mind that it may not be worth your time.
I really like this place. I find pretty great deals here and a lot of clothing is brand new with the tags on. Some of the older boyβs clothing is a bit worn. More than half of my sonβs wardrobe has been purchased here. The aisles are so narrow though, it can be a little stressful to carry a baby and shop (I think they have carts, but it would be a joke to get them down the aisle. Nobody would be able to pass by you). They are very picky about what they purchase and it takes them a long time to go through it. I donate my baby clothes to goodwill anyway, so if I only get $5 back itβs not a big deal to me. And I only drive up if I have other shopping to do in the area while I wait for my offer. As for customer service, Iβve always been treated well here. Iβve been shopping here for 5 years now.
I love the selection of books available here! My nieces love to read and getting books can be very expensive. The books here are prices very reasonably and make it easy to find a ton of unique options. Unless youre buying a set of books marked together, books are only $1.50- and the sets are not unreasonable at all- usually between $2-4.50. The staff has always been really helpful, also.
Not exactly happy!! I was in no way shape or form told that the things I dropped off had to be picked up the same day! So as I returned over half was no longer there!! The only way she recognized what was mine was because of the bag, all the other things simply gone! Not going back there again! The most expensive things of course just no longer there but a few little things left in the bag! The staff wasnβt exactly friendly either! I recommend to sell or donate all your things online to people who actually need it insted of this scam of a place!!!
Before entering this store, I was super excited at the thought of finally getting rid of some baby gear items and getting some cash back for them. By the time I left this store I was so disappointed that I ended up just donating my items instead. While upon entry of the store the staff were pleasant enough, but they soon forgot about me and began talking about their weekend party plans and the latest gossip of other employees and friends. I waited in that store for an hour and a half for them to assess 3 items. I was told that it would be quick since there was hardly anyone in the store that evening. I hate my time being wasted. By the end of the hour and a half, what appeared to be the team lead asked if the other girls in the store had explained to me the refund process. No one had spoken to me since I left the items on the counter so my answer was no. She then explained how much I could get for my items. They couldnt accept two of my items for a rip in the fabric on one and a pin missing in another - totally understandable, I was fine with that. I was offered $16 for a pack n play that was top of the line when I purchased it 2 years ago for $200.If you visit this store with the same hopes that I had, youd be better off donating the items and taking the tax write off. I will never come back or recommend this store to anyone. So disappointed in the customer service and business model this store has. I hope other people have a better experience than I did.
Offered me $10 for what they sell for $60 lol nah
I brought an entire bag of boys clothes a lot of them pajamas that had only been worn once. They took NONE of them. When I questioned why they werent taking any of them they said it was because the clothes looked too worn.. WHAT?? She then proceeded to pull out a pair of swimming shorts and pointed to something saying And that could be a stain, um.. theyre swimming shorts, he doesnt eat in them!! And then a few days later I go in to buy some pajamas for my daughter and had to return 3 pairs because upon further inspection when I got to my car they had holes in the feet. So theyll take holy clothes but can find something that might be a stain or a fray on clothes that have been barely worn?? Ridiculous!!
Not open when posted on website or on the window. Tried to call with no answer as well.
I go to this consignment store in search of brand name clothing in like-new condition for reasonable prices. This is my go-to place for childrenβs clothing for my 1 yr old and 2 yr old sons. I havenβt been to many other children consignment stores in the area to compare, but I can say this is miles better than Monument Goodwill for 1-2 yr old clothing the last I checked.I am thankful for the quality of clothing. sometimes prices are on the higher end of reasonable for used clothing, but still worth it if item is in like-new condition. prices are absolutely phenomenal if you catch a sale or clearance item.In my experience staff has been at minimum polite and on several occasions very friendly!!I love this store, and love that my boys are well dressed and look handsome in their clothing, without me breaking the bank!
I so love once upon a child. I love the new discount system where they send the coupons straight to my phone and I love the updates about sales. You cannot beat the prices, the quality of items they have is top notch and i honestly love the staff as well. The staff is always so extremely friendly and helpful and the lines in my experience are never crazy. You guys have saved me so much money over the years! Great store, so many treasures to be found!
Horrible place to sell clothes!!! I was shocked when I brought a HUGE bag full of baby clothes and they just accepted 2 items!!!!!!! Their excuse was that they dont take hats, blankets etc... Omg! Most of the items in the bag were clothes and they were in good shape.Theres lots of reviews that are similar than mine! What in the hell are you looking for? brand new clothes?Do not even reply to my message, apologizing as you did to the other people; cause if you care you would have done something about it a long time ago. This I freaking ridiculous.
So I can say that I am not going to be returning anytime soon. They refuse to test any products that are battery operated! I mean honestly if I am going to buy my daughter a toy I want to make sure it works because if by chance it doesnt they wont take it back. Even though they sold me a faulty product. Not to mention they are overpriced!
Nice to have close by, for both buying and selling. I prefer that they be picky so there is quality stuff to shop for. They are currently not taking much due to a surplus of inventory, and itβs true, all their racks are too packed to even look through. They would benefit from a larger space to spread everything out, more room in the aisles, and perhaps an aesthetic update.
Came here to get some clothes and toys for our grand kids that came in form out of state. The g-kids were testing some of the toys in the back while grammy shopped for clothes. After about 15 minutes there both of my grand kids started to have issues with there eyes watering and noses running. We assume they were exposed to something they were allergic to but whos to tell with all of those used clothes and used toys.As soon as we got home we bathed them and washed the purchased clothes and toys. Never had that issue again. The prices were somewhat fair but other things like the toys maybe a little overpriced.
Im surprised by all the negative comments! Items are fairly priced. If not name brand it is cheaper than good will and the higher end items are always in such good condition anyway, its not like paying full price! They seem to have a quick turn over with employees, Ive had really great service and really poor service. But I find the store worthwhile. They buy my clothes and I usually find exactly what we need. I wish they would turn down the really worn shoes, so much junk to sift through in those bins.
I was in there the other day and the staff were quite rude. I asked how much an item was because the tag had come off. Instead of looking it up they whispered amongst themselves then said it was part of a set. Yet this set wasnt even the same brand. I wanted the bassinet and was told that it went with a pack and play. Very disappointed. They just didnt want to spend the time to check for a real price. I would have understood if they said they couldnt sell it without the price but they lied. They dont even sell sets like that.
So itβs July 21, middle of summer, itβs only been summer for a month! I go in to buy some shorts for my 4 year old daughter, why are the racks now packed with winter clothing and no summer stuff? None at all! And when I ask to see if maybe the summer stuff is in a different section, I get a glum faced chic telling me no summer clothes, just fall and winter stuff is being put out now. Which, that is another thing, why canβt these girls working there act like they have more energy than a sloth? They drag around the store, they donβt smile, they avoid eye contact and will only speak to you if they have to. That is not customer service.
This place use to be good but now it seems they only buy friends of friends clothes. I have two girls that are growing like crazy so were constantly going through clothes. Our clothes isnt damaged, ripped or stained like I have seen throughout the store but if your not personal friends with them they dont but from you. I use to like this place not anymore.
I used to live in Texas and they had GREAT pay out. This one here in Colorado Springs is TERRIBLE!!! I have tried twice. The first time wasnt bad. The second time I brought in a HUGE bag of clothes for the upcoming winter season. In great condition. I was offered $5....I said no and will not return to this store or refer it to anyone ever again!!! I used to use this store to keep my 4 kids in clothes. So trading in tons of their clothes and not even getting enough credit to buy one of them a full outfit is ridiculous to me!!
Absolutely love this place. Yes, the toy is sometimes messy but that do to kids. Otherwise great prices, wonderful selection for boys clothes. Better priced than good will and just between friends.
I think this place is unorganized. I have a baby boy and they have 1 single aisle for boys clothing. And no 9 month sizes. Ive gone in several times looking and cant find anything. Ive found girls clothing in the boys section. Also when trying to sell clothes they are extremely picky. Ive brought in name brand barely worn great condition and wouldnt take it. And they say we love the baby boy clothing. Really is that why you have none? I if you have boys dont waste your time.
This is the worst place i have ever been to consign childrenβs clothing. What they offered as a βdealβ was comical. While i will never consign here again, I am giving an extra star because the person who was helping me was extremely kind. I suggest adding to your website that you only accept dresses with bloomers as that would have saved us all a lot of wasted time.
I brought in a ton of stuff that took a lot of time to pull together. The staff is pretty friendly; however, most of my things were returned to me. I looked back through them upon returning home and thought about their reasons in not accepting my clothing. These items were like new. My daughter wore most of them one time and they had no stains or holes or any of the reasons I was told they were not bought. I will not be wasting my time with this store again. If you are going to purchase, it is fine. The clothes there look used but they are priced low, in my opinion. Thats why I found it interesting my things worn once werent accepted. When trying to sell to them though, I wouldnt waste your time.
Dont bother taking your gently used items. After they process my bags or boxes of lightly used clothing, they show me a bin of items they are willing to purchase from me and pay me a few bucks. Much less than the gas it cost to drive there twice because you cant just leave your items there and processing takes several hours. Seriously, that means they pay about $50 cents per outfit. That runs me about $12-15 dollars new! Then they jam pack them in the store for $6-8 bucks a piece. Beware! Many of these items, name brands included, are cheaper at the stores! I wont be going back. Id rather sell my own items or donate them for a cause. Not so someone can price gouge!
Im only putting 5 stars so everyone considering coming here to sell items or gets a store credit doesnβt waste their time! For my baby shower I received so many items I never used a lot of clothing, beautiful crochet blankets, brand new DR Brown bottles- we used a different brand, brand new baby tub, a brand new beautiful crib comforter set etc (everything was NEW with tags!!) My daughter is only 6 months old, they told me they couldnβt accept my items because they were βoutdatedβ are you kidding me? My daughter was only born 6 months ago so how exactly are brand new items with tags βoutdatedβ?! The lady told me the styles are always changing & they have too much of the style I brought in. I was very embarrassed and they had others in line so instead of telling her sheβs an idiot I grabbed everything & just walked out. I will never come here again or recommend this place. This has to be a joke if they can accept βusedβ items over brand new items. (Rolling eyes)
Ok...I like some of the stuff. I can find some things for my kids for a decent price. The thing that gets me is that I took 5 boxes of clothes and they took maybe 10% of it. I understand if there are stains but they even had the exact same outfit in a different size and they wouldnt accept mine. They say they enter the clothes into the computer, but I find that hard to believe. I think it has something to do with them liking you and first impressions. Maybe I brought in too much stuff and they didnt want to do the work. They said I can go through my items with a manager. What mom has time for that? It took enough time getting the stuff together, loading the kids up, and driving down there. Good Will is just down the street from me. Guess I should have just dropped it all off there.
People only give this place a bad review, because they wouldnt take their nasty clothes. My husband and I are going to be first time parents and loved this place. We found such great deals, most of the clothes for only a dollar. The toy section could be a little more organized but it didnt bother us at all. We will 100% come back very soon.
Horrible customer service! The employees seem miserable. Super rude!
Most the staff doesnt know anything about childrens things. Pretty sure you should know how to open a stroller. They wouldnt buy things because they were too used. But I have been in there and they sell broken toys. My stuff is in way better condition than half the store.. They should offer more as well because you bought it and they make more money.. Not worth your time to even buy here. Cheaper to go buy new clothes .
This place of business may be cheap to buy things, but just know that they completely low ball the person selling their items . To add salt to the wound DO NOT allow any employee to assist you bringing your things back to your vehicle when you pass on the miniscule amount they offer you. They will take or Forget to give it back to you. When it is a part of the equipment, and when you call them on it, they say sorry we dont see it.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The selection is great; I can always find things my children need.
I really like Once Upon A Child for the price factor but the past couple times I have been specifically to this location I have been dissapointed. This evening as I was checking out there was an open bin of jackets right in front of the cash register. The very top item was the exact brand of jacket in my sons size that I have been looking for. It was already tagged with a price so I picked it up to purchase with my other items. The manager then comes and tells me I cannot purchase the jacket becusse it needs to be back stocked...?!?!?! Iβm still so irritated about this. How does it make any sense to back stock something that a customer wants to buy & that is tagged & ready to be purchased?? Since itβs almost time for them to bring out the Spring/Summer items I figured they would be thrilled to sell a winter coat but I guess not. I guess they want to save it until next Winter? The manager who said I couldnβt buy the jacket is the same one who I have had issues the past couple times I have visited the store. I have been shopping here for three years now & never had any issues until this lady showed up a couple months ago. In my experience she is very short with customers.
I have bought and sold with them. I am a Mother of threes kiddos and I have always been happy with this store. Just know that they are picky about clothes they buy from you as they should be, they are a small store and the only one at this time in the Springs, serving ALL of Colorado Springs and surrounding areas... Of course they cant give you top $ for your stuff, they have to be able to make profit, keep store open and pay their employees. I actually live an hour and a half away in the mountains and this is usually a top stop for me when I make it down to the city to get shopping done.
I love shopping here. there is so much to pick from with good prices. People get so mad because they bring stuff in and they dont take it all well look they cant take everything. Also people get mad because they think they are getting lowball. Think of it this way if you were to have a yard sale then you would probably get much less then what they could be giving you. They have to make money some how and this is how they do it. They have so much to pick from. They always have awesome deals. I do wish there place was bigger maybe they could take more things then. Or even open up a store closer to fort Carson since they do military discounts and thank you for that.
You can usually find a few good deals, they have 10 for $10 onesies and usually some clearance clothing. The aisles are SO small though, its impossible to look at anything with more than 2 people in them (especially on weekends). I baby wore my son in there but I couldnt imagine trying to bring a carseat or stroller inside.*Edited after their remodel*The aisles are much bigger and easier to maneuver! Its still challenging in some spots with a double stroller but definitely not a nightmare like it was before. Most of the employees are friendly when you go in and theres a good amount/variety of clothing.
Terrible experience i went togo drop to bags of clothes in the morning took forever to get a offer then i couldnt back get it because i had work that day and then my baby got sick so had take him hospital and i called the next day i couldnt make it on wednesday if i can get it friday the mananger was like we cant give you your offer for the clothes we cant keep it here you either pick it up or its going be donated like wow really worse experience ever never come back here actes really rude and only wanted give me store credit for not able coming in the same day
Great place to come and unload your gently used but not stained childrenβs apparel and any toys, strollers, car seats and even books no longer being used. Nice and helpful employees but do not plan to wait as staff goes through your items to determine which ones they will and will not take as they are typically a bit crowded and ALWAYS have loads of stuff to go through ahead of yours so choose the time of day you go wisely (although you can leave your items and return later to pick them up). #GreatPrices #GentlyUsed #UsedChildrensBooks #OnceUponAChild
They purchased 23 items from my mother and the payout was a few cents over a dollar each Crazy. Buy it from you for $1 then turn around and sell it for $9 does not sound like 20% to me. You have better luck on CL and eBay if you ask me.
Meh, unless you have matching outfits from the same brand, dont waste your time selling to them. My son had tons of clothes with one of two uses on them that they wouldnt but because they were separates-we usually shop at old Navy, the childrens place, Target and Carters. The stuff you can but isnt really worth the value imo. The cheapest stuff is like 3$ and you could find brand new stuff for like 4$ at the childrens place.
This place is an absolute joke! I should have listened the to the reviews and friends that warned me not to go in there, but I wanted to make my own opinion. I took in a bag of clothes, some never even worn, I wasnt expecting them to take everything, but they only wanted 1 outfit and gave me $1.20 for it! They also offered me a $5.00 coupon to use on a future visit! I let them keep their coupon and told them there is NO way I will ever return to their store or refer them to anyone else. While they may have a decent selection of clothes there ( I didnt look.) The fact that they advertise that they buy GENTLY used clothes is FALSE! As they put it, the clothes I brought it were overly loved. Please save yourself the trouble of loading up and bringing anything to this store. Like others have said, you are better off selling on Craigslist or having a yard sale!
I really wish there were more reviews on the actual store and products rather than the payout. Like, its consignment, duh the payout is gonna suck. Otherwise they sell baby clothes at a decent price and gently used baby items. My only gripe about Once Upon a Child is that Ive noticed some in store merch. is priced at exactly or higher than the retail price. Thats unacceptable for consignment/second hand clothing. Otherwise its a pretty alright store.
Ive been selling to this store since 2013 so I know what is expected of the items. I came in with 5 minutes before closing time, which I knew I wouldnt be served until the next day. When I came into the store the look on some of the workers faces was like are you serious . I apologized for coming in so late but like every other responsible adult I had work. The next day I came to get my items and they had passed due to a odor which by the way they were freshly laundred. I took my items to the South store not touching them and they bought most of the clothes I had. Dont waste your time going to the north store. Nothing but a bunch of rude and lazy employees there. The slight odor your staff smelled was laundred clothes. After receiving all my clothes and my toys I took straight to the South store and asked if there was a odor and I was told no. Your staff uses that excuse because they dont want to have to stay later than they have to. This isnt my first go around with the north store.
I had a good experience here selling and buying items. I brought in one tub of infant clothes and a toy. The people working in the store were polite and helpful and answered my questions. When I returned to see what they would buy, I felt that the offer they made for my items was fair overall & they accepted 18 of my things. I was able to use some of the $ for a trade on an item in the store that I wanted to buy. The store is well arranged with items hung by color, sleeve length, and type (dresses, pants, etc). There are toys and shoes too. The prices for the clothing were on the high side, but still fair ($4.50 for Old Navy 2T pants, $3.50 for Cherokee long sleeve top). Shoes are $6.50 or $10.00. The brands tend to be Carters, Granimals, Circo, and other department store brands. There are TONS of clothes for 12 months & under and less for the larger sizes. Condition of whats on the racks was generally good but there were some worn looking items for sale. Some items are out of place (especially shoes). Id go back to sell my items and would shop here again.
I bought a baby swing from them recently, once I took it home I realized it didnt have the cord that goes with it to plug into the wall, I then tried to go and return it and they told me (very rudely) that they would not accept it without the cord even though they sold it to me without the cord and when i tried to explain that to them the lady just ignored me. Since they just ripped me off $60 I will no longer be going there
This place has crappy payouts. The used clothes are as much as a cute little outfit BRAND NEW would cost you at wally world. This place is a ripoff. DONT EXPECT MORE THAN .25 - .50 cents payout on your items. I took my things back and had a yard sale and made more. I dont agree with their false advertising of accepting gently used clothing and toys. Because they only wanted to accept the ones that didnt look so new. I guess they try and use reverse psychology so that you cant complain that they are ripping you off. My honest opinion... this place is crap. I should have read reviews before going in.
Ive had great experiences with Once Upon A Child. They are picky about clothing, however Id rather them have fewer, quality clothes. I also could make more money selling some of my stuff on ebay, but thats the cost of convenience going to a store, getting cash, and being done with the item.Staff have been friendly to me. I shop here frequently. I try to sell things during the week in the middle of the day because the store is much busier on the weekend.
Wonderful place to buy gently used kids clothes... Not such a great place to sell things. They give you very little $$ for what you bring in.
A little expensive vs a consignment store but they have a great selection. And a decent return policy! They are very picky with the clothing you bring in to sell but thats because they can. I recommend them if youre on a budget.
I love once upon a child, def. a hit or miss. They recently switched to the digital point system, not a fan. I rather have their stamp card system.
My experience here was fair. The staff was extremely nice and kind; however, it was very pointless to walk into this store for what I was going for. I have two, toddler sons who are growing everyday and I needed to get rid of a lot of their stuff. I called in advance to get the details of what I could bring and the conditions they needed to be in. My children have all name brand clothing: Ralph Lauren, Carters, Childrens Place, Old Navy, Baby Gap, OshKosh etc... After washing over 500 pieces of baby clothing that were in very great condition with not even a spec, not including the clothing that still had tags on them and never been worn, they still refused to take them. The simple fact that I called a day in advance to ask if they accepted baby boy clothes and they said yes, blows mind that they refused to take them. There excuse wasnt that the clothes were horrible, their excuse was that they have too many baby clothing. Why couldnt they have said that over the phone when I called a day in advance instead, I wasted my time? I saw way more girl clothes in this store than boy clothes.
I love this store I stop in every week or so to grab amazing baby clothes for my ever growing toddler great service everyone is super friendly the clothes and toys are always great shape my only complaint is pricing sometimes can be inconsistent. I was buying pjs the other day and most were around $4-$5 but one pair because they were gymboree brand were $10 not new no tags on them still.
For a place that supposedly relies on the public for their inventory/business, they are extremely picky. They refused to take any clothes that were not in their database. These clothes were still brand new, still had tags on and were never worn. They were purchased by family abroad, so probably not familiar name brands, hence not in their database. To top it off, they broke up entire outfits. They would take the trouser, but not the top or vice versa. The result is that we now sit with broken up outfits and many that have never been worn. Prior to this instance, we visited them to purchase some baby clothes. Do not waste your time! You can find brand new clothes at Walmart for the same price and in some cases, items such as toys and strollers cheaper. I dont really know how they stay in business.
Staff is always so courteous and helpful. Great prices and selection. Love this place.
As far as used baby clothes go, this place is my favorite. I feel their prices are fair and the quality of clothing is very good. I Do wish their store was larger though.
If I could give it no stars I would. I went in there recently and I HATED it. Everyone was RUDE. The store was DISGUSTING. It smelled. there is NO organization! I brought in ALL name brand stuff they took 5 pieces of clothes and offered $3! And they all had tags! There is stains all over the store. The toy area was a joke and so were the shoes. If I still had the pictures on my phone Id post them to show people how NASTY it was. I will NEVER waste my time in such a DISGUSTING store ever again.
I when there to sell some cloths...Two boxs of cloths jam packed....When I went there to pick it up it became a box in a half. Some were missing.... Yet I didnt sell them any cloths... they wanted to give me 7 bucks for them.... yep no ill give to someone in need of them for free.Plus they told me two days ago they will call me with a price never called I called two days later. Staff is to young an rude... I Hurd them with other people around me. I walked out I was not buying anything from rude customer service....Ill take my money an cloths some were else.
They are so selective on brands!!! I have so many gently used newborn clothes and they didnt take not even one item almost like they didnt even bother to go through all of what I took in...
This place is very unprofessional,Also they do not give you a valid pricing on your clothing,Definitely would not reccomend for any mother or parent of a baby the clothing you sell there can be not even touched and they will tell you that they cannot take the clothing because it is not gently used.Therefor i place my thoughts about this company as a very unsatisfied person and the manager on duty does not care for anything and does not assume her position very well..The manager acted like a child and snooty,I believe this establishment is much less than they set out to be,I would say i would say this place is running to high for low minded personell that work there,Please do not go there. No one greeted me,No one cares about the foul odor that lingers inside there. Definitely the worst place i have ever been to in my entire life...spent 40 dollars on shoes and they said they would give me 50 cents, when i had the receipt and all of the purchase.
Terrible. I walked to the door full of boxes and clothes and everyone watched me struggle. No one greeted me no one was polite. The 12 year old manager was absolutely the worst. Never spoke to me never explained anything. Didnt buy any of our brand new clothes. Way too strict. On my way out again no help and not a single word. They sure were chatting up with the women but since Im a younger 63 man you cant speak to me because youre an ass. Terrible customer service. This place is hole run by a bunch of snooty b*tches. Ill never go back. I suggest you dont either.
If you go to shop thats ok but if you come to sell its a waste of time and a rip off, you can do better having a yard sale. I gave them a bin of nice winter clothes they only took two items that were actually the ugliest of the bunch. Not to mention I had to wait 3 hours then come back to hear my things were not good enough.
Ive been a huge advocate of this chain, but this particular location is getting on my nerves. If Littleton wasnt such a drive, Id only go there. This place is too small. Theres far more clothes for babies than for older children (size 7 and above) and theres way more stuff than there should be for the space. Get a bigger room already! I went a couple weeks ago for their big Halloween costume push. There was a small area jam packed with 90% baby costumes, and people and kids and toys and crap absolutely everywhere. I couldnt move. Theyre probably loving the business, but they should know that theres got to be a couple people ready to give up on the place. Again I say: GET A BIGGER SPACE. The staff is nice and I like that they offer military discounts (which makes me wonder why they dont open a place on the south side of town?).A lot of these reviews are from disappointed sellers. Ive been there too and have also been disappointed, but on the other hand, most of what I see on the racks I really like. I just give my stuff to Goodwill now. I dont feel like Im missing out on a windfall of money and it feels good to do help an organization like that. OUAC does not need your stuff, trust me.
Nice place with decent selection of kids items. We found lots of sleepwear and rompers as we wanted
The employees at this store seem miserable and I donβt think they even sorted through the stuff I brought in. Kind of a waste of time.
I recently bought and sold some things with this store. It was really disappointing. I saw someone else post that they loved the Once Upon A Child stores in Texas. SAME! This one is a hot mess compared to many others Ive been too. The store is so incredibly cramped. I also was frustrated with the buying process. They passed on a lot of my sons Gap, Old Navy, and H & M that were nearly new because he hit a growth spurt (all clean, pressed, and neatly folded.) They also passed on his Nautica boots that he wore maybe 3 times. It was annoying because its stuff I would have like to seen in the store. Instead, I saw a lot of Walmart brands (Garanimals and Faded Glory). I wish they would be a bit more selective with the brands and quality of items. That being said, it is the only one in town and I will likely go back again. I did find some good things. I just wish the management would maybe talk with the staff. Im not sure. Im seeing a lot of similar complaints. Its not complaints against the buying process in general, its this particular stores buying process. Also, I wish Once Upon A Child would adopt Kid to Kids method of offering more for store credit than cash. Just a thought...
I love the quality of second hand clothes. I can always find things for my LO!
I love this store. Its my first go to place for childrens clothing. Their selection is plenteful. I gave two stars because the last 3 times Ive gone there to sell clothing theyve said my stuff looks worn when theyve had original tags on the items OR theyve offered an insulting amount for a tub of clothing. I get it, they have to resell the items but to lie and say their worn or stained just to lowball me is wrong. I will always be a fan on buying but not selling to them. A lot items they sell are shrunk & faded (I do find a lot that are nice, like I said I ship here a lot) but I see so much stuff that is crap but yet my brand new stuff look worn or slightly stained to them. Get outta here...
I really dont like this store. Ive bought multiple things here and when I tried to sell them back they turned away 3/4 of the items for one excuse or another.....out of date, stains, etc. I couldnt see any stains on the items I returned. I can do better at Walmart new.
Apparel- 4 starsShoes- 2 starsCustomer Service- 5 starsManagement- 1 starToys- 3 starsPrices- 4 starsI came into the store for the first time after seeing their ad on tv. I was a bit skeptical after reading some of the reviews on here, but decided to see for myself. The store is small and very crowded but they do have a lot of great things for sale. I would have to say that their clothing selection was a lot nicer than shoe selection, which a lot had scuffs and stains. I found some great early presents for friends and family. My sister is having her first child and I told her she should definitely come her to get any items that she needs! The girls who helped me (I wish I could remember their names) were very friendly and helpful! The manager, Amanda, that I dealt with I cant quite say the same about (almost all of the other girls seemed like they would better suited for such a position). I had a question about an item and a young girl said she would grab the manager. Not only did it take her a long time to even respond to the girl and answer my question, but she was very rude about it. I also did not like the way she was talking to her employees, they were all very nice and it was sad to see her talking to them like that.I will definitely be coming back for any future child purchases, which anyone who has children knows is quite often!
What a rip off now. I feel better donating to goodwill, than trying to sell here and just get hosed in wasted time and money.
Always go to this store when we are visiting our grand daughter. Havent bought clothing but love the toys.
I have been to both this north location and south and I say, Dont waste your time! Its not worth the headache and hassle.
Showed up 2 mins before 3pm and someone runs up to the door to lock it. Saying they are closed when their website clearly says they are open 12-6pm today (April 15,2018 Sunday). I donβt live anywhere near this store so anyone would understand how irritated I am with this store!
The store is a great concept in the staff always greets you when you come in the door the only downside is sometimes its hard to find what youre looking for and occasionally they will have Walmart clothing for the same price or maybe even slightly higher than what you might find at Walmart.
Have to agree with the unhappy comments. Went in today and brought in a box full of clothes. They turned down all of it saying that they were stained or overly worn. Funny... after reading all the bad reviews I had decided to put some brand new items in my box still with tags. Like I said... they turned down everything. Un Real. Oh well I guess even brand new is not good enough for this store. And after looking at other items in the store... I myself will not be shopping there. I guess they must not care about quality customer service or care. This is why most businesses go out of business. But Im just another person that they will brush off because they are too good for me.
Great selection but the prices are pretty high for used clothes.
This is a great place to find used kids clothing that is better quality than goodwill or the arc.
Excellent spot to pick up lightly used toys and clothes for your kids. Weve been many times.
Pretty great selection, good customer service, they could use a larger store in my opinion.
They buy very little. The staff was lazy and other customers were very rude. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, there are other consignment shops.
I have visited Once Upon a Child based on their close proximity to my home. I have found many things that I like in the store, however, I have always felt that their prices are not as inexpensive as they make it out to be. Basically, I can spend about the same price buying new at Target, Walmart or Old Navy for very comparable items. I was also disappointed when I took in a large amount of gently used items to sell outright (many department store holiday dresses and several Baby Gap and Gymboree items) and they offered me SO LITTLE for my items. When I went back two days later, I saw a holiday dress that they had bought from me for about $2.00 for sale for $12! Very disappointed and I felt very taken advantage of. We found a very cute childrens consignment store that is priced much more reasonably and is worth the extra 10 minute drive to save big time. From now on, we will not be shopping at Once Upon a Child and we will be keeping our business at Giggling Grounds in Southern Colorado Springs.
