First let me start with the fact that I have a very acoustically troublesome room with a 7.2.4 config. I am also very careful with the vendors i choose to work with....After many months of feeling the sound was just off I hooked up with the folks over at The Screening Room. Had what I thought was a good processor Marantz 8805. After watching the forums I felt I was lacking in Room eq program. So I began my search for a processor with Dirac Live. Looked at the usual suspects then started chatting with Zack and Aaron at the Screening Room and he spent time detailing what the JBL SDP55 could do, and it came with fully loaded Dirac Live. The features were excellent for a processor of this caliber so I ordered it. Extremely pleased with my new speaker purchase and all of the help and support from John and Joel at The Screening Room! They are unlike any other audio/hi-fi dealer. Rex reached out in response to a post I made on the Revel Owners Thread at AVSForum. He has maintained an active presence there for years and has a good reputation. He was attentive and helpful, and, crucially, he was candid about availability and quoted accurate delivery timeframes. Savings related to Covid shortages were significant, and I expect to continue to buy from Rex in the future.

I was introduced to The Screening Room’s mailing list by a fellow friend a home theater enthusiast. In the following months I attended a couple of their educational speaking engagements and a projector shootout and both were without any sales pressure. When it came time to add another screen to my theater, they were my first thought and support a local small business. I’ve been into home theater for over 30 years and built my own theaters. Dave came out to my home, evaluated the setup and later provided some options that would work well with my space’s lighting and projector. I also loved the fact that he knew I was more of a DIY type customer and he had no problem working with me. Professional, experienced and easy to work with. I had been communicating with John and missed the projector shoot out, I was in the market to upgrade my projector. I checked in with John after the shootout and John still still had 3 of the projectors set up. He invited me to view the projectors and was very patient as I viewed different options, offering assistance being careful to let me come to my own conclusion. The projectors were calibrated correctly and the viewing room was setup for a realistic experience. Back to a few months ago, I found “The Screening Room” through the JBL Synthesis website. I was looking for the discontinued JBL Array 1400 floor standing speakers. John was able to locate one for me from the factory. Also, he gave me an unbelievable good deal on the speakers. John also answer all the technical questions I had before & after the purchase. I finally bought the speakers on April. The shipping was fast & got delivery to Fairfield, California in a timely manner. He also help solve a delivery issue I had with the shipping company. Ive worked w/ John & Joel over a few mos time to upgrade a dedicated theater after being referred by a custom calibrator and writer for Sound and Vision. Ive purchased many components that includes a projector, preamp, amp, and speakers. Theyve helped support me throughout the entire process, and have tried to go above and beyond to make things right anytime something didnt go to plan (none of which was their fault BTW). Case in point, I am having an issue with an amp. They had a replacement one sent, and it too has the same issue. Its apparent now that its not the amp, and theyre working with me step by step, and pulling in people from the company that made it, to help solve the issue and find a solution. The support and service are excellent, and I wouldnt hesitate to buy from them again being that I know theyll stand by their clients. One other thing to note, is that theyre well connected. If they dont know something, they have someone that likely does on speed dial thats ready to help.One last thing to mention, is that Im likely not the easiest client to deal with. Ill spend a good amount of money, but to get to that point, Ill ask a lot of questions, take a lot of time, and can be very analytical (and needy)... Theyve not batted an eye at that, and really have put in the time to give me whatever support Ive needed.You really cant go wrong dealing with these guys.

We were building a new home this year and the contractor had a theater room in the plans and he was planning on doing it. I recently bought a five channel Revel system from them. I’m not in the same state so the buying process was done over mostly email. I dealt with Rex who was fantastic, and always got back to me extremely quickly. I had tons of questions so it was often numerous emails a day for almost two weeks. I never felt like I was being pressured into making a purchase in that time. I would highly recommend them, and I plan to purchase from them again when I expand my system for Atmos support.

John is probably the most amazing dealer/person i have dealt with in as long as i can remember. He literally spent hours answering any and all of my questions from start to finish no matter how dumb i thought the questions were. If he was not sure on an answer he would take time out of his day to contact the correct people to make sure the answers he provided me with were as accurate as possible. John went out of his way to help me with an issue i was having on an item i purchased prior to meeting him. The original home theater dealer who i purchased the item from originally wanted nothing to do with helping me after the sale was final.. (seems to be very common from stories i heard) . I honestly thought i was screwed until John did the unthinkable and actually contacted the company for me being that he had established friendships throughout his years as a dealer and made sure my issue was resolved quickly and professionally. Never in my life would i imagine a dealer going out of his way to help someone with an issue on a product purchased from a different dealer. Details like this is what makes John stand out from the rest and actually deserve the full 5 star rating. Perfect service and wonderful consulting! I recently was looking to replace my projector and pre-processor in my home theater. I called them up to talk through what I was looking to achieve, and they really listened to me and helped me make some decisions with no pressure at all. After that great experience, I decided to purchase the items from them. One of the items had an issue, and they had it replaced with zero impact to me. I cant recommend them highly enough!

When the local dealer wouldnt answer emails after persistent replies (known issue here with multiple of my friends), I reached out to John. John made sure it was ok to sell to me even though I am across the border and when it was he saw to my shipment even days and weeks after it arrived to make sure I was happy and had what I needed. There was no pressure whatsoever during this entire time and he had no issue with me telling him I was several months away from being able to buy something. My questions were always answered quickly and with a lot of knowledge.Finally, when I did order my speakers from John, the shipping company messed up and lost them in their warehouse or truck. John was on top of it, sending me updates on what he was hearing, sometimes 2 - 3 times a day. After dealing with the runaround from the shipping company for a few days, John sent a new set of speakers overnight! Wow, it was not Johns fault whatsoever the shipping company messed up and I didnt even request new speakers sent to me. But he took it upon himself along with the manufacturer to do that. Just purchased a pair of Revel Ultima Salon2s from these guys and cant say enough good things about how well they handled it. Both Rex and John were very helpful in talking me through the merits of the Salons versus a couple of other Revel speaker systems I was considering. Although I pretty much knew what I wanted, they provided a lot of insight into Revel and to the performance of the systems. I gained some valuable perspective, as Rex was a studio recording engineer for 30 years and John is involved in sound design in film production. VERY knowledgable!I should add that they both have a prominent presence on the AV Science Speaker forum and have the ability reach back into the manufacturers of the products they sell to get answer to any questions theyre not able to answer themselves...which was not many!
