The quality of food was fairly good. The Elvis Fries didnβt really have the cheese melted on them and were a little cold in the center. Because of that we took them home and heated them up later. They were much better the second time! For the price, the serving size of the cheese curds was a let down - but they did taste good! My s/o said the French toast had too many chocolate chips on it and I agreed- it was too sweet for our liking. These are knit picky comments regarding some of what we tried! This why I still am giving 4 stars. Absolutely go there if you want a good burger or breakfast tacos. π I think they were training the lady that was working the register. The food all came fairly quickly, but I think they need more signage as to where you go to order walking from the entrance into the bar. We kinda wandered around a bit! If you were taking someone on a first date though I would definitely recommend this over some other breakfast/brunch menus in town!
Hullabaloo Diner is a classic for anyone who goes to A&M or is just visiting. The place has been open for years and continually delivers great food. The employees are friendly and some have good jokes. Before the pandemic, the menu was full and sitting inside the classic Diner hall is a great feeling. Now, the menu is much smaller and outdoor/with indoor seating is available. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get a good sized meal for the price.Besides the novelty of the place, the hours of Hullabaloo Diner make the place difficult to make a trip out to and the service has been more and more lacking recently. The food is still good and thatβs what really matters! Some other things that are very unique about this place: one of the few places where driving on mud and gravel is expected, the parking lot is odd to get into and out of, and thereβs a cool Parrot in the back! It says βHowdy!β
What a great place to eat! I loved the ambiance of this place. They did an amazing job of collecting really cool and collectable items to enhance the atmosphere. Theres birds that say hi and howdy as you come in and leave! Besides the place just being really unique, the food is AMAZING! I definitely recommend the breakfast platter, and the cinnamon roll. The pancakes were cooked in Heaven. It was all really good!!
Sydney was an absolute blessing! My boyfriend and I went here for our first date and while the conversation was not amazing, the burgers and fries definitely are! We wanted to return for our one year, and Sydney allowed us to come in past closing and eat. The burger was great with a buttery bun and melted cheese. The service is wonderful and the diner a must-see of College Station.
I live about 2 miles from here and should visit more. Guy Fieri loves it.
Were new to the area, but this is quickly becoming a favorite go-to spot. Everything weve tried had been delicious. Tonight we tried the pizzas. We now have a new contender for best pizza in the area. Loved it!
Great Food and Adult Beverages in South College Station up the road from Texas A&M.A classic and historic diner located in South College Station. There can be long lines for breakfast and reservations arent taken, so be prepared to wait. The breakfasts are worth the wait with a variety of breakfast menu items. The lunch and dinner menus are equally as good and again, there can be lines. Good country style menu with a few items that are local specials.A lot of people miss the bar which is off to the side and located in a separate building. You can get great bar food and really good beers. The beers rotate out so you can find interesting craft beers. A few of the beers are brewed on premise and rotate in beer styles. Its a locals bars, with a few new and older students on our occasional visit. Worth the drive to South College Station.
Choose anything and itll most likely be wonderful. Theyve been featured on Triple D twice now for a reason and are a local staple. Owners and staff are great, and no, I dont know any of them personally.
I ordered the green chili burger and subbed in the Elvis fries, which are covered in cheese and sausage.I wasnt expecting the burger to be smothered in the sauce. Thought it wouldve been inside. It was still good. I ended up not using much of the lettuce and tomato since it was on the side.I really liked the fries. They were so simple but so good.
A very nostalgic vibe and mellow environment! Ive heard its a bit more crowded on the weekend. The philly cheesesteak was absolutely delicious and so were the train wreck fries! My husband ordered the meatloaf and wasnt too impressed and neither was I. It was a bit dry and perhaps he shouldve ordered it with the red sauce? The waitress was super nice! We will definitely be back with our kiddos.
The original diner is not being used because of the seating being so close, but the food is as amazing as ever. It was between IHOP and the Hullabaloo and we are so glad we went to The Hullabaloo diner. At first you look at it and are like... ummm is This a rundown bar or a place you eat, but OMG.. IT IS AMAZING. the biscuits and geacy, some of the best I have had, eggs, and bacon and potatoes, wow.. pancakes, ohh soo good.. you could tell that the man behind the food really cares about what he is making. They are currently seating in the balcony and bar area, which they have decorated beautifully for Christmas and have a spot where photos can be taken. They have a chalk board to entertain the kids which was a huge plus to get kids to eat their food. The coffee tasted amazing as well. All in all 200% glad we chose the Hullabaloo over the chain. Will be back to sit at the diner when it opens. It was great talking to the Chef as well. Really had an amazing time. We ate so fast we totally forgot to photograph the food. Lol
Short wait to order. Food came out quickly and hot. I recommend trying the Cajun skillet. It was excellent.
This place is amazing! The staff is so welcoming and friendly, and the food tastes just like home. Will definitely come back again
Food was good but very slow to come out. They are very understaffed due to COVID so you cant blame anyone for that. Main diner car is still closed FYI
Food was good and reasonable prices. Too bad they cant get enough workers to open the diner section.
If you are looking for classic diner feeling and good food this is your stop. I warn you the food is big so if you want a pancake or omelet 1 is good enough. I normally just have breakfast here but their sandwiches are good amount and flavorful. I love this diner and the prices are decent too. Not overly expensive for the amount of food you get. The staff is always friendly as well!
Great spot for families. Food was excellent and plenty of outdoor seating.
If youre in College Station this is a must stop by if you wake up on a Saturday morning and want to take a trip this is a place to go. This is one of those Diners, drives, and drive-thrus visit. I strongly recommend that when you go, add a few hours so you can relax and enjoy this uniquely perfect place. Its definitely a triple threat fun relaxing and good food.
Great food and great patio! Love this place!
There are not enough words to describe this Heavenly Restaurant but Perfection. Hullabaloo Diner was on an episode of Food Channels Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and is well worth the drive. Whether you are driving in from any part of Texas or coming in from Out of State or another Country this must be a stop on everyones Food Bucket List if in the College Station Texas area. The restaurant is in an authentic Diner Car relocated to Texas and has every bit of the feel of a classic diner from the wonderful food smells to the amazing Customer Service of the Staff to the sights and sounds of the experience. The whole menu is made to order from scratch and comes out hot & fast. The menu is broad and has something for everyones taste buds. The prices are inexpensive and the portions are made to fill the heartiest of appetites. I definitely will be coming here for years to come just so i can try every wonderful item off there menu.
Amazing food!!! Great people! Give this gem a try!!!
Wow! What a great little place. Breakfast is amazing along with the pizzas. The staff and owners were great. We cant wait to go back.
Love this place for breakfast, biscuits and gravy are the best I ever had anywhere else.
A historic diner and must go if youre visiting College Station.
Everything was great but the grits, sausage gravy and pineapple mimosa were fantastic.
A must stop for breakfast when visiting college station. Relaxed atmosphere great food and of course mimosas
Never a let down on anything I have gotten breakfast and sandwiches are top noch, burgers and appatizers are awesome. Pizzas are tasty. Get the train wreak with the Buffalo ranch sause and taste pure joy. Worth the wait. Guy definitely had it right.7/25/2019- still awesome. The BBQ Burger hit the spot. Great people.
Extremely disappointed with what happened to this place. Used to be a favorite. Zero organization to it, just open the door & let people mob into a shoulder to shoulder line. Whole thing felt like a cattle auction. Need new mgmt.
Best biscuits and sausage gravy! Also give the cinnamon rolls a try.
Rustic setting with good sized portions. We enjoyed their Sunday brunch menu.
Delicious Philly cheese steak and crispy fries with casual unique dining atmosphere. We will be back.
We were skeptical about eating here..alot of times a place has great reviews from a highly rated food show or a Texas bucket list TV show and you give it a try and you usually are disappointed. Let me just say DO PLEASE give the Hullabaloo a try!! From the person that takes your name for seating to the gentlemen that seats you, then to the waiter and waitress everyone had a wonderful attitude. The cool old diner is really a neat place to enjoy your food so wait a little longer and wait for a table inside .There was 4 of us. We had the homemade biscuits w made from scratch sausage gravy, French Toast was very light and tasty. I had the Mexican green chili burger..it was Delicious!!! Two fresh hamburger patties sandwiched between to flour tortillas w a side of house potatoes covered in green chili sauce that is homemade!!! The special was philly steak with green chilies topped with homemade pimento cheese the steak was so wonderful it melted in your mouth and the chilies were good and spicy!!! For dessert we shared coconut cream pie it was very creamy and good. Good job to all the staff!!We defently will be back. There is a wait time be patient and enjoy....good things shouldnt be rushed!!
Very busy, but not that long of a wait. Excellent cajun skillet.
The portion size is 2 meals on average and that isnt a bad thing. Service is relatively fast and food quality is good for the size. The one downside is that there is no cell reception in the diner and the floor vibrates when people come in and you can feel it if youre sitting at the counter. Good for a quick bite and you want to eat the rest for dinner.
Went for the $20 pizza and bottle of wine deal. It was delicious and perfect!! Great place to hang out
This place was awesome.
Great staff and a delicious little diner, really great for the price
Great food, cool place, Ill be back.
Breakfast here is an event (full skillets, large portions, will need a to go box). Itβs 10/10 amazing. Iβve been coming to this place for 6 years and never had anything but exceptional food!
Everything is excellent!
Great food....especially the breakfast menu and hamburgers!
Food was fantastic. Its very rustic, a little too rustic for my taste. Friendly staff.
Food was good and well priced. Will probably go here again. Went for breakfast and got the kitchen sink omelette (jalapenos are optional but nothing else in the omelette is, FYI). Personally I like the ones from Sbisa better, but the omelette was pretty good here. I also appreciated that they cook the tortillas here instead of serving it kinda raw like at some other places.
Grits were amazing. Good and atmosphere was great. We were disappointed with the limited menu though due to COVID
This is THE place to take visiting family and friends for breakfast on the weekends. Sometimes the wait can be long, but there are games outside for the kids, parrots that you can talk to (they say, HOWDY), and a bar you can spend time at while you wait to be seated. Get the biscuits and sausage gravy! They are the best Ive tried in my entire life. If Guy Fieri and I both recommend this place, I really dont understand why youre not already there, enjoying a delicious meal. (:
Great food, great concept, great service. Really gives you that authentic diner feel. Food was amazing, highly recommend the biscuits and gravy. Great prices also. Definitely a must visit place if youβre in the area!
Fantastic customer service and food. We have had the same waitress every time and she is always so helpful. Took my mom for Motherβs Day breakfast and it was a total success! The food is always wonderful and it was well worth the wait time! We will absolutely be back!
Nothing daring about the breakfast menu, but my friends and I agreed hands down it the food was perfection. Best biscuits and gravy! The reviews Ive seen said the portions are smaller now than before, but we ate breakfast at 10:30 and had to skip lunch and werent even hungry at dinner. Serving staff couldnt have been better. Not sure why anyone would complain about the metal trays the food was served on. Pretty adorable.
This is a wonderful place to experience! Whether you are a local or an out-of-towner, you will love it! The food and desserts are fabulous! We took the home made cinnamon rolls home for the next morning, and in all my 70 years I havenβt had a cinnamon roll to be this excellent! One of the ladies there makes them every morning! Go and enjoy!
Food was delicious! Nice and quitein the middle of the afternoon. Our waiter was very nice and polite. Even made us laugh.
A little hard to see from the road. I almost drove past it. We arrived early on a Friday evening around 5:45. It was moderately busy. We were seated quickly and service was prompt and courteous. Deciding what to eat was a challenge. Everything looked good. Our food came out in a reasonable time on cool, diner-chic aluminum trays. It was very good. Prices were about average. It is a little rough around the edges but that adds to the charm. This is a Texas roadside dinner and it was great fun to eat in. Will definitely go back.
The Place Was Awesome. First Time Experiencing A Diner.. Good Food.. Felt Homey. Nice staff.. & My Girl Loved Their Coffee! Shes A Picky One When It Comes To Coffee.
What a great homely place super conformable chill live music and great food also outstanding will return at a later date for round 2
We always enjoy coming here. We drive up from Houston. The food is always good and we love the musical entertainment. The portions are large so be hungry when you come and dont miss the pies for dessert.
Food was great
The food was very good.I like how it looked liked a train.I love yβalls mascot. The biscuit and gravy was very delicious .This is a great location. The staff was very helpful.
Atmosphere was peaceful and look of 1950 thru 1960 was beautiful. The service and food was yummy and delicious. We had a Ruben sandwich, Redneck Philip Steak. Pork grinds. We will be back soon.
4.5. We got pretzels, hummus, Philly cheesesteak, and the sausage sandwich. The bread for the sandwiches was great (my mom is from outside of Philadelphia; she knows). The only low point was the hummus, which is green, spicy, slightly sweet, and tasted nothing at all like hummus (made with peanut butter, maybe? Odd aftertaste).
Solid breakfast joint where everything is good. The non- breakfast menu seems to have shrunk since I last ate here, but I always have an omelet or burrito anyway. Expect large portions. Phil also makes some excellent beer and they have a limited selection of other craft beer.
The biscuits and gravy are out of this world amazing.
Great food, some prices are a bit high imo. After tip $62 for a Family of 4, we all got burgers, waters, and 1 piece of pie to share. The pie was amazing and plenty for all 4 of us to enjoy. They have good ranch for the fries too.
Im amazed at some of the reviews I have read for hullabaloo. Ate there for the first time tonight with a couple of co-workers. The food was amazing the hostess and wait staff were all very friendly. We were set next to a few college students when someone across the diner wanted to take the breakfast omelette challenge. The waitress was friendly and did advise the young man that he would probably have some spectators. Even reading on their website nothing will prepare you for the size of the meal the young man received. The Philly cheese steak is by far one of the best I have had in the Brazos Valley. Their cinnamon rolls will put anyone to shame. I can see myself returning to hullabaloo in the future.
This is a wonderful place to eat with your family! The food is amazing! Thanks for the great service.
Great food and service country and sports atmosphere. Reasonable price. All food is good.
Found this little diner, has the best ice tea and coffee!!! I was a only great coffee is starbucks kinda gal, now I am a Hullabaloo Coffee kinda gal. Yes, it is that good. βπ₯€ Food is excellent too. Cant go wrong ordering anything at this little place. Will definitely be back, Oh and the staff there couldnt be sweeter. Be aware menu that is online is not current menu.
Service was great and very helpful. I and my wife got the Philly steak I thought it was very good. I have been a few times and will go again it is a nice change from a normal restaurant. My child got a hot chocolate and it was severed very cute she even put left over in a to-go cup with more wiped cream when she didnt finish and it was time for us to go.
The food is amazing, and the service is friendly! The restaurant was very busy when we had lunch on a Sunday, so plan appropriately. There is also a bar and an outside patio where they have live music. I plan to come back for the live music, and more of the delicious food!!
If your ever in Aggie land you really canβt go wrong stopping by this diner. As far as the menu they have a little bit of everything. No matter what you order you canβt go wrong Service is great, and the building is unique. The place is a little off the beaten path, but worth the drive.
Great food, good atmosphere! To beat the rush Id recommend being there by 9:45 otherwise its a bit of a wait but theres plenty to do while you wait.
Hullabaloo was recommended to us by a friend. Once we arrived I had to convince my wife and kids to come inside as it is not your normal spit and polished chain restaurant. Once the food arrived and the family tasted it, there was no more convincing needed. The food was outstanding and the big cinnamon rolls we took for our breakfast the next morning were also wonderful. Definitely would recommend anyone from vegetarian to meat lover to try this out of the way diner. It is worth the drive.
Dont know why it took me so long to get here. Great food and a great spot!
Neat experience! Restaurant is in a dining car. We sat at the counter. Food was slow to come out but was tasty none the less. I think it worth a stop if your in the area.
Love this place. Ate here all the time while in college. They get super busy, but is my all-time favorite breakfast. When co-workers visit the area I always tell them to eat here for breakfast.I donβt think Iβve ever had a friendly or attentive waitress anytime Iβve ever been. Service has always been slow when Iβve been there. However, place gets really busy, so I canβt really blame them for their attitudes. Plus, the food is DELICOUS so I donβt really mind the waitresses attitudes.
I would have given them a five-star but we waited for our food for 45 minutes. Thank goodness after we got the food that it was very good. The server said that something happened in the kitchen where they got slammed with the bar orders. I will try it again and see what happens Im sure if it was just one of those off nights
Wow, had the pork rinds today they ere still popping at the table. So excellent. Cant beat their Philly Cheesesteak (redneck style with mushrooms). My oh my, just the ever loving best in Texas.
We absolutely LOVE the bar. The bartenders are the best, friendly, welcoming, laid back and fun. Micheladas are the best Ive ever drank. Food is excellent. Its our favorite date night spot to relax and unwind after a stressful week. Thank you Hullabaloo bar staff for creating an inviting, warm and relaxed atmosphere for everyone to enjoy!
