New location is much easier to get to. It’s academy. They are all the same lol.

The employees are always helpful and some shoe department employees have gone above and beyond to assist. There haven’t been many times when their items are out of stock. Their bathrooms are super clean every time I’ve gone.

Got 3 shirts didnt find the ones I really wanted my Red, white & blue American flag.

I went to Academy because my hubby has been wanting a small pistol and since hes always so excited about getting one . I did I checked them out, They are nice!..but yeah/no !... I just want to say ... this is how I ended up at Walmart..lmao.

Great customer service! Usually I go in, pick out shoes, try on many pairs and walk out unhappy. Not this time! Two gentlemen helped me. I was trying to figure out what brand of shoes I had on. Couldnt do it. The blonde-haired gentleman said, It says Avia on the tongue. I was embarrassed. I had looked everywhere else but there. He pointed me in the direction of like brands. Still couldnt find shoes. A black-haired gentleman actually BOUGHT me a pair of different branded shoes. They didnt quite fit but I was in the right area. I found the right shoes with the right size AND the right width (extra wide)! My poor old shoes are so worn out that they are doomed for the dumpster. Great job, guys! Great job, Academy!

We often shop for athletic shoes here. They have lots of different sports gear, camping supplies and athletic wear. It also has school uniform attire. Prices range from reasonable to high-priced for big name brands.

Nice store and even during these hard times was easy to get in and out. Went to firearms and bought a Springfield .45 from salesman Ling, he was great from start to finish, very professional and helpful not only to me but various others while I waited on my paperwork. Definitely would buy there again and Ling is the employee more stores should consider making a supervisor or manager great sales and people skills. Thanks Ling & Academy.

Academy steals from their customers if you don’t have a receipt. I bought a $20 product and returned it but had lost my receipt and they would only give me five dollars back even though the product that I bought was not on clearance, not on sale and was still $20 priced in the store. I was appalled. I will not shop at Academy again. I will drive all the way to Houston to keep from shopping at Academy and will do my shopping at Bass Pro shops from now on.

Nice, but they need inventory and help. Waited way too long in shoe department everyone I asked for help said, not their department, went back to the original girl I asked she said only person who could help me was on a register. I was there to buy rain boots for an entire scout troup. On to the next boot place. Sorry Academy. Have never had this bad of service in Houston and employees except for the girl who checked me out was rude. Even the fitting room attendant was rude. Never shopping in the store again. Will shop online. Maybe

Shoe inventory for size 13 is dismal for any style of shoe especially croc style foot Ware or flip flop styles. Absolutely discouraging

Love Academy for all our Aggie gear, sports gear and tennis shoes.

Academy in College Station is a good place to buy a bow or hunting license however if you are a female it is not an ideal place to buy sport clothes. Actual hunting and fishing clothing they just don’t get it. We like clothes that work!!

My first trip and it was amazing! I found tons of items I am now in need of: paddle board, pools, swimming accessories, clothes, etc..

I was disappointed that only halfway through the summer they had no adult water shoes.

I went into this location to purchase some Nikes, and was very impressed with the amount of and the helpfulness of the staff in the footwear department. I myself did not need any assistance, but I was asked if I needed help and could see the employees helping other customers all around the department. I walked the long way around the store and the entire store appeared clean and well-stocked. Would definitely recommend this location, although it is a little out of the way of things.

Out of stock. Empty shelves. Employees in a foul mood. Rolling their eyes at simple direct questions. Several playing grabbity grab instead of helping us the Customer.Their favorite answer... Ugh, well you can check the website .....Come on Management - get it together man!Not the Academy store of two or three years ago.

Awful service!Went to buy a handgun and it took ~30 minutes to get the paperwork ready. I was one of 2 customers purchasing a gun at the time and Ive never had to wait that long at other locations.When taken to the cashier I gave him (Joshua) my drivers license in order to get my 5% discount. After an embarrassing long time of fumbling around he eventually gave me my ID back and said he couldnt do it.Luckily for me a manager overhear him and was able to find my account in no time at all.Its honestly embarrassing how poorly trained these employees are and I would recommend going somewhere else.

The new store is huge and nice. The employees and management were great. They gave our girl scout troop a tour and were so friendly.

Staff are always very helpful. Workers are very efficient with setting up the line outside on ammo delivery days. Prices aren’t very gauged.

I gave 3 stars because of my personal experiences with this store. I like the option of being able to shop there but recently prices have increased to much for my taste. I have also purchased items online to pick up in store and the service for that has been poor. There is no timeline for expecting the order to be complete so you have to wait on the email or text. One example is I purchased a case of shotgun ammunition online at approximately 10am. I had to call the store at 4pm and ask when the order was going to be ready. In my opinion, 50% of the employees do not want to be there or assist with questions about merchandise. I’ve noticed they do not want to make eye contact or say hello. I still like shopping for the items there and I’ll adapt to get it done.

Went in to return a tent in which they werent bc I didnt have it in the box, but its a 10 person tent were talking about.. it started with the manager not wanting to return it but I told him I had bought it elsewhere after it didnt have stakes. With his food customer service he returned it for me

This is the 3rd time Ive been to this Acady looking for items they dont have. This particular item being a home gym. Online, they said they had one so I drove there to get it. Asked an associate and he says yes we have 2. He didnt work in the department and went to get someone who did. 15 minutes later, I hunt him down and ask if he found anyone, and said yes. Well, they finally showed up, I told him what I wanted at the floor display. He looks and says we dont have anymore. So, I went and made another purchase which needed managers sale approval. 30 minutes waiting on the manager to show up to sign a piece of paper. The place is a wreck. I wont go there unless Im feeling really lucky to get what I want and as a LAST resort.

Staff has always been nice to us for the most part- particularly Shelby, Ling and one of the managers (Staide?). My only complaints are that the fishing section seems to always be out of stock of a lot of items and the womens section is severely lacking when it comes to outdoor clothing and footwear.

Great selection (usually... no ones inventory has been immune to the shutdowns), quality products, and good customer service. My go to store for clothing and outdoor activity supplies.

Once again, had exactly what I needed. My digital meat thermometer quit working so I picked up another one.

One of the attendants was busier with her iPad and not interested in helping me. I kept bugging her but all I got was yes or no. I finally just went to someone else that helped me find what I needed.

Mostly friendly but Im leaving a one star because my girlfriend and I went to buy 9mm rounds and I made the mistake of letting her grab them. She bought 380 rounds not 9mm. They refused to refund me or even exchange them for 9mm rounds even after they just seen us in the store and we had the recipe.

Well what I didnt like was they didnt have any climbing gear . I needed some repelling equipment and there was none.

The golf club counselor was so unkind that I never wanted to go again.I asked her everything, she didnt know anything, and she was so insincere and she was staring at me like she was telling me to make a quick decision.

I got two pairs of steel toe boots that are waterproof.. had them around 30-40 days .. On one set of boots the right boot started to get wet inside.. went to academy to return the defective set and was told they couldnt do anything because Ive had them for a month already... an they couldnt resale them ... why would anyone want to resale used defective boots to the public ... dont make any sense.. but they sure took my money at first....

I purchased a house brand fishing rod that about a month ago. Used it one time and it broke. Took it into the store in Bryan and the customer service representative said that they couldn’t do anything without a receipt. I asked to speak with the manager on duty. He came up to the counter, I didn’t get his name because he didn’t have a name tag on which is against store policy. Many years ago, I was an employee for academy. He said that there wasn’t anything they could do. I said is this actually the way this company conducts business now? He said that without a receipt, it was. Academy no longer stands behind their products and apparently they don’t care about keeping their customers. They have lost my business forever, I promise that!

Bought a used Falcon fishing rod from Academy. Broke while reeling in a fish. Wouldnt let me return it, even though I purchased it less than a month ago, with receipt in hand. The manager, Matt Bernie, said only H2O brand rods have warranty. Been going to Academy for over a decade. I will be doing all my shopping at Tackle Warehouse from here on out. If you are looking at purchasing a fishing rod, I would strongly recommend looking at places that have warranty on products. 06/04/2020

Pretty much your typical Academy, the new store is nice. Don’t bother calling, the phone will ring and ring and nobody ever answers. Workers are usually knowledgeable of the store but you’ll have to engage them first to get them to help you.
