We stopped in at the visitor center to inquire about local hikes and they directed us to Sunlight Sports. Best thing they could have done! Shad was fantastic. He was so helpful and knowledgeable. If you need suggestions about what to do during your stay, stop by Sunlight Sports. While you are there pick up some gear. This is a great business to support!!

We were staying the night in Cody and were just walking around and happened to stop in to Sunlight Sports. The people here were unbelievably helpful and friendly. Wes went out of his way to answer questions about the local area and even went over a map of yellowstone with us. This is one of those stores that you leave feeling like you have a new friend.

THE BEST place to get your outdoor gear hands down. All staff members are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. There is always the best gear in stock and employees will go out of their way to order any product for you. They will never let you leave unhappy with your purchase, and if later you decide to return an item, they are very understanding of returns. When visiting Yellowstone, this is a great place to stop in and talk to people that about what you NEED to see in the area and all the secret local spots to go. Would give six stars if I could!

I shop at Sunlight a few times a year, every time I go in they make me feel welcome and are super helpful. The combined knowledge of the staff is amazing. I had an issue with a ski binding install and they went above and beyond to make it right. Great local gear shop!

This is a fine store by any way one would care to measure it. Plenty of good quality clothing and accessories. I made a rather small purchase on this trip, but I was taken care of professionally and thoroughly. Sunlight Sports has a great staff; knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. Stopped in while window shopping. This shop has an amazing selection of outdoor products. We were traveling through on a road trip and ended up purchasing a Thule rooftop luggage box. I have a growing love for Sunlight Sports. Their friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff make you feel instantly welcomed in this independently owned outdoor retail store. Its hard to find a lot of specialty items/gear in a place like Cody, which is what makes Sunlight Sports so special. If they dont have it theyll order it for you. Need another size? Theyll order it. The Sunlight crew will discuss your needs and match it with the appropriate product. They also have a boatload of maps and even their own local hiking guide of the area. Sunlight Sports should be your go to destination if youre traveling through town and want to know where to find a couple local gems or if you need supplies before heading out on that weekend backpacking trip. Great store, great staff, and their emphasis remains focused on quality and customer service.

Cody is such a quaint little town. While dining at a local restaurant I noticed a fellow customer use a wallet in which the credit cards popped up or as I like to say “magically appeared”. The gentleman told me to head to Sunlight Sports! Upon entering Sunlight, the staff greeted me without me brandishing my wand. They were helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable about the products they sold. I found my magical wallet and left a happy wizard!

We just spent 10 days in Cody on vacation. We stopped in sunlight for some advice on local trails. The staff was more than willing to spend time finding out what kind of hikes we were looking for and gave us great advice. Mind you I told them right off I wasnt going to buy anything. During our ten day vacation we stopped in there probably four times to talk about different trails and great places to hike. Almost every time there was different employee but always just as enthusiastic and knowledgeable as the other. I did buy a few last minute camping supplies and found there prices to be competitive to any outdoor store. Best part was when I asked for advice the employees never recommended the most expensive product. Bottom line, if you visit the area and plan on doing any camping or hiking youll have a much better experience if you stop in at Sunlight. Youll get advice from people who hike and camp these places and giving you first hand experiencences.

Had a friend visiting from California. He wanted a shopping day, so off to Cody we went.Since he was looking for athletic apparel, we started here & he was like a kid in a candy store. LOL...He found 2 totally unique workout tees. Nothing he could find in Calif. His comment, not mine. Then we (he) spent even more time looking for a cap that matched the teal Tee, as well as a pair of running shoes.I didnt think he would EVER find a pair that suited him, when the owner brought over a pair of blue (think Elvis & Blue Suede Shoes) ones. He tried the on (think Cinderellas glass slipper), walked around in them & TADA he was finally ready to check out.The owner was friendly, kept up a flowing conversation, without being in the way, and was very knowledgeable.Found out they carry shoes for weird feet (mine). So will be back to find a good pair of walking shoes for myself.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I met my instructor from Jackson Hole Mountain Guides here and have since purchased some rock climbing equipment. The staff ordered in two pair of shoes yo make sure one would be the perfect fit and helped me find a harness to fit. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. They even fixed my sunglasses, free of charge.

Sunlight Sports is THE BEST outdoors store you will ever shop in. Ive bought much of my gear from them including hiking books, my skis, my pack, hammocks, and this trip was a new blatter for my pack. The staff is always friendly, AND THEY 100% KNOW ABOUT EVERY PIECE OF GEAR IN THE STORE. Its also nice to see that year after year it is the same staff as they get paid well enough to make it a career. Finally, they always have the top of the line brands in this store. Some people may get sticker shock at times who werent prepared to look at top of the line prices, but on this trip I had a friend tall me they blow places like REI out of the water on their prices. I would always rather shop here than anywhere else or even online for my gear, its that good of an experience to shop in this store.

Very nice store, to the people complaining about price: this isnt a 2nd rate store like Dunhams, these guys dont sell junk, look around and youll see Patagonia, Merrel, Mystery Ranch and other high end merchandise. Youre not going to find that cheap anywhere. Ranting aside this place is dope, lots of great camping products and the staff was very friendly.

They didn’t have what I was looking for [a very specific item], but they went out of their way to call other businesses to check so I wouldn’t have to driver all over looking. On top of that it’s a beautiful store with great camping gear.
