THE place to go for all of your model train needs. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable about the hobby. Their selection is unmatched. Speedy curbside pickup makes the entire process streamlined and worry free.

Slow to ship orders. Shipping costs are a bit high especially for low dollar value items. Takes about ten days to two weeks for receipt of online orders. I find their search engine challenging. Many times I find I need to search for nearly exact item or stock number to find something. My first choice is Amazon. Item may sell for a bit more but more HO items then you think are covered by prime. So costs about same and faster. I then try eBay that has a generous selection and usually faster to ship. Prices a bit better. USPS is a challenge no matter where you buy. They are terrible. My third choice is other train stores. Final choice Model Train Stuff aka MB Klein. Model Train Stuff could due with a lot of improvements. They could be my go to store if they would get it in gear and reduce shipping costs.

MB KLEIN INC. MODEL TRAIN STUFFIS NOT OPEN! Although the web site and internet searches say the store is open, IT IS NOT OPEN.I was turned away at the parking lot; was denied entry because they “have no showroom at this time”. This information was not included In their website, and the OPEN sign was lighted, indicating open for business for the public.I am from out of town and although I will be back in the area I will NOT shop Klein to supplement my growing model train layout.NOT A FAN. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE.If you are going totally Internet, get your website in order; it is out of date and poorly constructed, in my opinion.

Over the past several years I have visited this store and always had a great experience and have also made several purchases online.Recently I made a sizeable purchase online and the package was lost (USPS says they have no idea where it is!) I called the store and spoke with the manager, he immediately checked his stock and informed me he had all the items still in stock and would send out a replacement order, all he asked was if the first order arrives to please let him know so he could arrange for a return. The replacement order arrived 3 days later.This is great customer service and they have earned my business for any futures need and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for great service and great prices on Model Trains. Great job!!!

Excellent selection and great service! MB Klein is a cool and classic model train store with a wide selection of quality engines, locomotives, rail cars, track and decorations for sets or collections. We purchased a model steam train for Fathers Day and they made sure to take the time to test all the functions before boxing it up. The fantastic service and friendly staff made the visit very fun and we will be sure to come here again!

Was great to walk into store on Gay Street, pick out what I wanted, then look around and possibly buy. Went to Cockeysville to check it out. Four salespeople were there. this was about a year ago. Im still waiting to be asked if I could be helped. At least theres Tommy Gilbert s in Gettysburg.

Never have much in stock.Get tired of clicking on items that come up out of stock. Cant buy it if you dont stock it.

Man this is so sad, this is probably one of the larger train stores you can walk into and yet i never got that chance because online sales, estores and everything has trashed this hobby. The more the web sells our hobby the less we get to see and touch the merchandise which is important for something like this, you cant buy this stuff just from a picture. Wish you guys would reconsider opening back up

This should have been 5 stars but they have reduced the size of their showroom. Theres still plenty of stuff to see but most of their inventory is available from their online store. They offer you a monitor to use to find something online not in the showroom and purchase it on site.

Great Shop, AWSOME STAFF!!! Benn a customer for years on line and this was my first visit to there store. Was treated like an old friend walking in the door. Meet some other train guys, swapped ideas. While the show room isnt that big just ask for it and they will get it out of the back! Overall I enjoy the store, Ed is a great team member, super helpful.The store atmosphere is very sterile, definitely not your classic hobby shop. It is mostly a store front for their online stores warehouse. I live close enough to drive, and like the interaction and ability to get help from a person, so I show up when I can if I need something or have questions.I wish it were larger and had a little more to it as I would be more inclined to show up more often, but it does the job. If you know what you need, order online the day before and pick up the next day.Not somewhere that lends itself to browsing and impulse buying.

MB Klein have always been my store when it came to looking for add on to building my first layout, I was stationed at Andrews AFB- the drive to baltimore was always worth the trip, then they moved to Cantonville that was worth the trip also the staff have always been help, the store was always well stock. They are still my number store since my move to Alabama. I only wish there was one here, THANKS Guys!!!!!!!

Hit or miss anymore; definitely not the store it use to be a few years ago. Extremely slow processing & fulfillment times; exceeding over 48hours up to 72hours+ just to process orders on weekdays/business days...For them transitioning to being an online-only web_store now [with warehouse pickup option available for locals], they really need to step up their game on processing & fulfilling orders more efficiently.Online shopping for hobbies is where its at now; much wider global market selection and availability of different products, parts, and tools. Brick n mortar stores disappearing tend to be something older generations complain about. Time and money is important, as most people do not want to wait weeks/month on a local store to get a product in when you can simply buy it online instead and have it in_hand within 3-7days.Anything on MB Klein you can find mostly on other eBay and Amazon stores for nearly the same price...and processing/fulfillment + shipping out to you much faster within 24hours, if not the same day.

This was my first and last experience with, Model Train Stuff. I had an issue where my account login had timed out and my order went through as a guest order. I did not earn any reward points and Model Train Stuff is unable to move my order to my account, or add any of my earned rewards points to my account. I was told that this is because I ordered with their Klarna payment option, which they offer. I have used Klarna several times before for large $ orders, and they were awesome every time. Model Train Stuff notified Klarna that my order was shipped on the 16th, but didnt actually ship my order until the 23rd. The tracking number provided by Model Train Stuff shows that my package is still waiting to be accepted, and hasnt moved since. I know we are all stuck with the Covid-19 situation, but many of their competitors are processing same day or next orders. I tried Model Train Stuff on the recommendation of someone in my mrr club, which was my mistake!

Great service, and a wonderful selection of model supplies. Making an architectural model and needed some 1:250 scale entourage (very small). The staff was unsure and called a manager that was able to find something called Z Scale and helped me tremendously. He also found similar scaled trees. I will definitely be back for more in the future.

Although I live in Canada, and our dollar sucks, it`s still worth shopping online at Model Train Stuff.I find they have a great selection and good prices, much of which I can`t get here (I model in N scale).I have ordered from here 5 or 6 times and every time my order has been filled and shipped right away and delivery is pretty fast.I love shopping at this place, nice easy to navigate website, lots of stock and great service.

First time at this shop and it was a good experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Has a good amount of products in stock and if you dont see it on the shelf ask, you might be surprised they might have it.

Ive been out of modeling business for 30 years and have come back to it, having spent hours at train shows, days on the internet studying sellers the past couple of years. There is competition, but I think MB Klein tops them all. Price is always competitive and the product packaging, right down to the label and tape, are the best I have ever seen, period. I feel like a kid every time a new package shows up!

M.B.Klein has the best selection of trains and accessories for the train enthusiast. New showroom is downsized to accommodate on line availability of products. Best place to get exactly what you want for an awesome layout.

This is still one of my favorite hobby shops I have driven to the new store twice since they moved to their new location. I would love to go more but I work 6 days a week.

I have been building very large train layouts for many years. In fact, like many of us here, I started out in O Gauge a very long time ago. I am now 78 years old. Four of my last 5 layouts were in HO gauge with one N gauge thrown in there.During the past month, I started building a fairly complicated coffee table layout using N gauge which in and of itself, is a very challenging project.I recently discovered the M.B. Klein retail establishment and have made several relatively large orders. Their prices seem to be fair and their selection of varied products within the N scale are okay. However, I have noticed one thing that bothers me quite a bit.When I do make an order, it doesnt ship for 2 or 3 business days. I suppose their mail order business is too busy to ship the same day, never the less, I feel that their lag time is too long.Generally speaking, many hobby purchases are made in a Spur of the moment scenario. Having to wait several days before actually seeing your products leave the store takes a lot of the excitement out of the experience.If I lived close enough to have been visiting this store in person, I would be even more upset, so I can certainly understand how some people are very disappointed with their brick and mortar store closure, but at least you will not have to wait for several days before your order actually ships Four hours is a piece of cake. Yes, I also understand the let down of not having a large store to browse through while dreaming and imagining new goodies gracing that pike of yours.Unfortunately, this is the way the world is now going. Less personal, face to face experiences and of course, much less emphasis on personal relationships. All for the sake of the buck, I am sorry to say.Most of my lifes work and much of my education has been involved with Speech Communication with my grad work emphasis being on Industrial and Business Communication. As a result, I am sensitive to how the above changes are having very negative affects to the world we live in.My rant is now over. Thanks for persisting. :)David

This is an outstanding shop with a showroom you really need to see. The staff are very attentive and friendly and their prices rival, if not outright beat, most websites prices Ive seen. If you cant find it at MB Klein, you dont need it.

So sad. I have been going here since the early 70s and now they shut their retail store down to process online orders only. What a slap in the face to all the locals who patronized this store for decades. Just another online store now.

Ordered a Kato A/B unit set of Great Northern locomotives on 1/27/2020, they arrived on 2/1/2020, less than a week. The parcel took a pretty good hit somewhere in the USPS shipping system as one end of the Kato box inside was smashed to the point that pieces of plastic fell out when I opened it. Thank goodness that Kato uses good little boxes for their engines because both A&B units were ok. No issues with my credit card, the order process was painless, and the price was right. I plan to order again soon. Now if USPS could do a better job of handling!

This place rocks! Very helpful staff, and the are multiple model train layouts to enjoy. Only would suggest providing step stools for the kids so they can see the layouts better, and so parents dont have to hold them the whole time.

Ive been an online customer for many years. I recently placed an order for track switches, but realized too late that Id ordered right-hand instead of left-hand. The folks at M.B. Klein couldnt have been more helpful, and fixed the problem with no fuss at all.

Good I live far away, otherwise I would be in the store every day looking on the all cool stuff and talk with great people. I never leave the store empty handed.

For as few and far between as model train stores go in Maryland, this is definitely an excellent choice. Tons of stuff in N, HO, and O scales, and they have three computers open for customer use to show exactly what is in stock, saving time searching around. The staff is easy to find and helpful. The parking out front is an incredibly tight squeeze, but nonetheless Ive never had trouble getting a spot, so I truly have nothing negative to say!

I was spending $800/month with this company. Tried placing an order that included two coupons and could not. I had to have to separate orders to do so and of course charged shipping on both (one was only a few sheets of decals). When I called I was told, There is no way to change an order once it has been placed. You can only cancel them. So I did. Followed with emails to complain. Their reply was,Ok, Thank you. For any employee seeing this, look up my order history. I would expect better customer service if I had only been spending $5.

One of my favorite stores to go to. Prices may be a little high, but that doesnt stop you from dropping by with your kids and piggy bank in hand and do a little Christmas or birthday shopping! Also, not to forget, they have 3 train layouts and a large selection of O,HO, HOn3, N, and Z. Also a large variety of shirts and starter trains sets. Fun for ages 3-105!

M.B. Klein is a great model railroading hobby shop that carries a large selection of HO, N and O gauge models. Their prices are very competitive and their staff is very knowledgeable and ready to answer all your questions. The only downside is they have limited parking.

What a BIG let down . The showroom is about 1/4 of its old size . Some stuff to pick from houses, track, other building and other train garden supplies . Nothing like what was in the larger showroom it pick from. Lots of showroom staff on hand 7-8 people only one talked to us and asked about what we were looking for. It was not because there were a lot of others in the store. We were there for over 1 hour or more . When checking out in the middle of checking out, lunch was delivered, the cashier walked away from the register to get the money to pay for the lunch that was delivered . It was a different story when the staff found out the large amount that we were spending, we had all kinds of help. I asked one of the sales staff why did they reduce the size of the showroom and he said that he believes that they are trying to force people to go to on line buying. This visit may be my last . BIG MISTAKE ON THE DOWN SIZING OF THE SHOWROOM

Worked at this company for a brief period of time. Everyone is friendly and helpful and seems to enjoy the work they do. The store itself carries a large volume of items across several different scales. Staff is helpful and ready to answer any questions you might have.

Most prices seem reasonable if not a little better than most hobby shops. Unfortunately the showroom is becoming smaller by what the staff had told me when I got there. I was expecting something along the lines of what Ive seen a couple of year ago, but now the showroom has taken a turn for the worst. Drove 4 hours round trip from Pennsylvania to be told if I wanted to see something, just look it up on the kiosk ( the company website). I had a list of items I wanted to buy, but instead only bought one item to make the trip kind of worth it. It was kind of upsetting.

I recently placed a small order with these people. After my unprovoked, unacceptable responses, they cancelled and refunded. I own the dissatisfaction experienced by my actions with these people. They come to the modelling community highly recommended by the very best Railroad modellers. I attacked them, and they handled my terrible indiscreet and wholly unacceptable comments with nothing short of integrity and class. Thier prices, services and products places them at the top of a long list of many. I not only recommend these people, and thier ethics as nothing short of highest recommendation.

These guys know their trains; very helpful and offer quality suggestions that always seem to work. Pricing is great as well. They just all seem to have a good time; always helpful...from Z gauge to Lionel, these guys are good;....and...there are not many strangers in this store!

The sales staff while friendly were completely unprepared for a routine sale of a pair of $2 bottles of glue. My purchase took over 15 minutes of time at the cash register because no one knew how to ring up an item on sale as opposed to the barcode process. In the end it was so frustrating that when I realized I had been charged 3$ per bottle it wasnt worth the time to go back to get the difference in money refunded back to me. Wont be back. Avoid this store.

Very disappointing compared to my previous visits. Perhaps they are renovating but the current shop area is very small with relatively few items on display. The items I hoped to purchase were in the back and had to be retrieved by a sales person who said they wont like it when I have to go back to the store room. I waited for the sales person to return-he didnt, so I finally left the store. Been shopping at M.B. Klein since 1971, downtown, and never encountered anything like this before. Jm

I want there today on Monday the 19th of June I went there to purchase two turnouts and also to ask a question well the one question turned into 10 or 12 questions and I had two to three people going out of their way to answer those questions for me the service was impeccable I would deal with them again and again the prices are very good especially when they offer their sales. I highly recommend M.B.Klein to anyone getting into the model railroading Hobby or anybody whos in The Hobby now

M.B. Klein (Model Train Stuff ) has a wide variety of products in various scales. Their prices are great and I usually get my orders within a few days. The longest it took was 5 days and that was a holiday weekend. I have never had any problems with MTS and I look forward to doing more business with them. If I cant find something at the local hobby shop, MTS usually has it for a reasonable price and you get to choose your shipping method.

Been going here over 40 years. Surely miss the downtown store, but they carry great quantity, have reasonable prices, and the knowledge is unmatched.

Ordered some stuff from this store to the UK. The items were well packaged and although took three weeks, the main delay was customs processing and the dreaded import taxes which cant be avoided. This isnt the fault of M.B. Klein and is just the hassle when buying trains from abroad.

If you love trains youll love M.B. Klein. You can spend a long time browsing their extensive inventory of different gauge trains, decorations, cars and buildings. They have just about everything you would want and the staff knows their model trains with some employees specializing in knowledge with certain gauges. They also have even more on their internet store.

I stopped in just for fun a few weeks ago to look around and wax nostalgic about when I was a kid and my dad first showed me a Lionel train set. 30 plus years later, I felt like a kid again in this store. It struck me as soon as I walked in with my own toddler that it is a very family friendly place with highly knowledgeable, and truly passionate staff. We spent a lot of time chatting with Bob and Vince about O- gauge options. It was such a wonderful experience to be around people that love what they do and are happy to share their insights in a no pressure way. We walked out with a Lionel Lionchief steam engine set and are hooked! We made the return trip last weekend to start expanding our collection with some more fast track and magazines, and it was as pleasant as the first time around. We will definitely be back.

Ive been into model trains for quite a while now specifically N scale trains. I come across MB Kliens aka Model Train Stuff a year or so ago and never looked back. Ive never been to the retail store but use their online site almost exclusively. They have a great range of items and real time stock inventory as things move quickly in the model railroad hobby. I like that I can track my package from their website and they take Paypal, I think Ive had to call customer service once since I missed a shipping email. Ive never had to return an item because I knew from the great descriptions what I was getting upfront. My only beef with MTS is that they take about two days to ship your order, I understand why its because lots of people use MTS for their model railroading needs and its a busy place. One day Id love to visit them in person and see the retail side of MTS.
