Friendly folks who know a great steak! We got one of the best marbled porterhouse weve seen in a while with a perfectly succulent tenderloin. It was about 1 1/4 thick, and grilled it with salt, pepper, and a bit of Montreal seasoning to a beautiful medium rare with nice grill marks. It cut like butter and the flavor was wonderful. Also got a nice sirloin and marinated it for fajitas and it was delicious as well. Powell is on our Must visit list the next time were in the area.

We drive all the way from Appleton City. Great facilities, friendly staff, and so many choices! They have great cuts of meat and its obviously fresh. I cant say enough good things about this place! We are so lucky to have such a great lcocal butcher shop.

I had a deer processed here. It was done in less than a week. The kid that loaded up my burger put a hole in every single one. I could hear him throwing them around in the trailer. When I confronted him about it, he told me the holes are from the packaging freezing together. The packaging is plastic and its obvious it was thrown. Not to mention I heard it. Its hard to give a bad review over 1 kid but I had to re-package my entire deer. I called and told lady that answered. She said Sorry about that. I will change my review if Powell Meat wants to make it right. Thank you.

Yes, the staff is super friendly. Yes, the new facility is really nice. Yes, the meat looks absolutely fantastic. But I feel compelled to comment on my experience after grilling hamburgers tonight. You see, I raise my own beef, have for years. Last couple years Ive had Powell process my beef. Do a nice job, really nice. Double wrapped and all. But I always order my order my ground beef lean, 90/10 at least. This year I did the same. Problem is theres no way on earth I received a 90/10 mix. Maybe 80/20, maybe. The easiest way for me to tell is by grilling burgers. When you wonder if you need a fire extinguisher when you grill your burgers, well there you go. So, be super specific about what you want. Super specific. Like maybe multiple times.

Awesome place to buy meat. Just dont go unprepared. Bring AND A large cooler. These are the choice ribeyes I cooked tonight. Unbelievably Awesome.. The fresh brats were ok but they were different than What I was expecting. Overall the place was clean, has meat fresht frozen, frozen seafood, charcoal lump and briquette, a tremendous selection of jerky and beer/liquor/Mixers. Kinda a one stop shop for the weekend. I will stop in again when Im passing though. This time with a bigger cooler and some Ice. (Honestly I cant believe they didnt provide ice 😔)

Can never get our cows butchered as order. Staff member let us know they were stealing our meat for retail. Had a cow come back that didn’t look like our meat.

We were there Sunday morning; shortly after they opened. It was super quick checking out and loading the meat (approx 10-15 minutes). Very friendly. It was our first time there - our amazing friends the Bergman and Morris clans said they have expanded the inside recently. They have moved 4 or 5 long shelves into the new addition. They are working on upgrading their parking lot.Besides being able to purchase meat you can also pick up a variety of different items. They have spices, rubs (for roast, steak, chicken), BBQ sauces (in many different sizes and flavors), and an assortment of other Pickled Products - Eggs, Okra, Beets, Pickles, Mustard Eggs - several different types.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! By far the best piece of meat we’ve ever tasted! We drive past every weekend on the way to the Lake and we finally remembered to stop! And boy are we glad we did! We purchased the entire meal for $40 (crab stuffed mushrooms, bacon wrapped asparagus, bone in Ribeye, and Filet) BLOWN AWAY, We will be making this stop every lake weekend!The gentlemen working the counter were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly!

Were fairly new to the Clinton community and have purchased steaks from Powells three times. Hands down the best steaks weve ever cooked on our grill. We also tried their new food truck this past Friday, the first day they were open. Again, the food was great. I would have rated them as five stars, but their work processes could use some improvement to speed things up--but who am I to tell them how to run their business?

We were quoted one price out the door and when we drove 2 hours to pick up our order it was twice what they quoted us over the phone on two separate occasions. Dakota and one of the girls from inside we’re wonderful! 10 stars to them for trying to make it right. Travis, the owner is a joke. Telling us he didn’t want our business because WE cost him $200 when his staff misquoted us a price, more then once. Definitely WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.We were good, Dakota and the girl from inside did a good job trying to make it right. Then Travis steps outside and was absolutely horrible towards us.

Stopped by to check the place out. I was surprised to see they carry wagyu steaks! I saw the marbling on their KC strips which looked amazing. I bought one as a splurge. I cooked it on my grill later and it was without question the best steak I ever had. So one strip cost $39 but man was it ever worth it. Im definitely going back!

We stopped for the first time yesterday on our way to our RV at Truman Lake. The meat (bone-in chops) was fantastic, but we will not return any time soon. Of the three employees we encountered, none was wearing a mask. Its not worth the risk during the pandemic for us as senior citizens to shop there.

Always great steaks and the jalapeño poppers are the best Ive ever had.ive tried their premade burgers once and believe i can make a better burger at home but id bet there are better than any other pre-made burgers.

Stop here weekly for 6 Ribeyes and a couple of filets. Best steaks we have had in a long long time. Don’t miss the stuffed pimento peppers either. Great bunch of girls in there as well.

Would not recommend using them to process your beef or hog. We split a hog with my parents and had it processed here. It is obvious they switched our meat out with old meat. Part of our bacon was fine while other packages were old, some of the ham steaks were so old and nasty we had to throw them out. Very disappointed and will not use them again.

This is the first year we used Powell Meat Co. to process a deer. It will be the last! Terrible customer service, very rude. The price was WAY more than weve ever paid to have a deer processed. There is no way we received all of our deer that we dropped off. The packages are all different weights, no consistency . Weve used Heatheringtons for years but they were not taking whole deer for processing this year. If they dont take them next year we will be processing ourselves. Save your money, this place is awful!

Well just looked @ my deer summer sausage and they used nitrates & msg totally f up my organic preservative free deer. I asked the cashier if they used nitrates and msg in deer summer sausage & she said no. Fingers crossed 🤞 on my deer steaks and deer burger hopefully they didn’t jack that up as well. Won’t be back!!!!🤘🏽😷👻🎃🎄🍄

First time there. Little confusing as it was busy with deer hunters dropping off their deer to be processed and the parking lot was full. Small meat store with a great selection of processed cuts of pork and beef, Jerry sticks, sausage, cheese, BBQ sauce, jelly, honey, mustard and ciders, ect. Well staffed and they were knowledgeable and helpful. We had masks on and just a few other customers did too. Staff didnt have masks on. Reasonable prices. If youre looking for that special dinner for your anniversary, birthday, Christmas eve or New years eve get your ribeye, porterhouse steaks, or filet, ect., to cook at home of course during Covid, this is the place to stop. We will be stopping here again when passing through. They suggested calling ahead to place an order next time to speed up the process.

We live in Peculiar so we already have a long drive, but our experience is mostly okay. When we first started going there, they didn’t carry the best product, jerky. Fast forward two years, they were three months late with our deer being processed and they even managed to lose our meat! They won’t even pay us for the lost/late deer! Other than that the meat is pretty good.

What a great experience! Drove from Colorado and found this wonderful place. Meat is excellent, reasonably priced and phenomenal customer service. Travis was great to deal with. If you buy meat anywhere else, you are missing out.

We grabbed a couple strip steaks and stuffed potatoes here on our way by. It was well worth the stop! The steaks were some of the most tender we have ever eaten. Amazing!

I had 4 hogs delivered to Powell Meat processing for butchering for six different families, some took half and some bought the whole hog, they were all tagged with numbers marked for each family for butchering. Ranging in weight from 230 pounds to 270 pounds on the hoof. I spoke with Chrissy at Powell Meat going over each hog for each customer making sure that each hog went to the right family. My hog weighed 270 pounds. Chrissy called to tell me that my hog was ready for pick-up, I asked how much pork for my half of hog processed out at, she replied 56 pounds Where did my meat go? wrong person? their retail case? I argued the point and her resolution was giving me 25% off processing! I was appalled. the whole hog should of dressed out at 90 pounds.. When picking up the hog they charged us $2.50 for a box. Plus 129.09 processing fees. It cost $4.47 a pound. Chrissy ended up giving me 12 pounds of pork out of their retail counter. Not impressed with Travis, he never returned a phone call and to me, he totally ignored the problem.

I went into theie store today and saw that none of their employees practicing recommended Corona Virus safety by the CDC and health depts.All and the other grocery store in Clinton, Mo.are following and exceeding the guidelines.Your employees are handling raw meat for sale and they are not wearing masks and some were not even wearing gloves.Customers crowed in without masks,no distancung unlimited numbers.I left without even purchasing anything and will not return.The health dept should shut you down imo.Sad situation.I used to brag on your place.Nor any more.

I bought a tri tip steak there for a kind of overpriced amount of money, and when I went to open it and cook it the meat smelled rotten and I had to throw it away because my wife refused to eat it. I will never come back here again.

DO NOT bring your cattle here! We took a young, fat, corn fed steer that by all accounts should have been delicious, tender meat. What they gave us was the toughest, gristliest beef I’ve ever eaten- we tried to slow cook the steaks like roast and it was still tough as bootleather! I’ve raised my own beef for 20 years and have always been more than satisfied with what I received. The round steak and hamburger we received from Powell’s was better quality than the filets and ribeye. A cousin of mine is always talking about how delicious the steaks they buy from Powell’s are. It’s possible that they may have mixed up our meat with someone else’s, but then why only the choice cuts? I hate to assume things, but right now I’m of the assumption that they’re stealing the best cuts from peoples cattle and switching it with cheap boxed beef. I would give a negative amount of stars if possible.

It was my first time to visit Powell meat co. Fast courteous service. They had extremely nice cuts of pork and beef on display. They would pull out whole trays of steaks etc. For customers to pick out. I highly recommend them for fresh cuts of meat.

Top notch company! Meat quality is outstanding, counter help is extremely friendly and often times its Travis Powell himself. If you want it they have it and if they dont theyll get it. Went in for a skirt steak and they didnt carry them at the time. Next time I went in, they were in the case!

Pricey, but the quality of the meat is five stars hands down. You can tell a big difference between this place and the super market. Also pickled eggs are really good.
