While the delicious food is undeniable (pozole, tacos, pan dulce, etc.), so is the uncleanliness throughout the restaurant/store. i’m willing to travel the 40 minutes from the east side to experience childhood memories of my travels to Laredo, Tx and LA through the tastes and ambiance of La Plaza, though I am not willing to sit at an unkempt table and sticky chairs. the store portion is no better with items scattered on the floor, dust and dirt on the shelves. clean up shop and i’ll be back!
Excellent place. Delicious, authentic street tacos (and more). You can walk into the Supermarket and take a look around. They also sell their taco meats at the deli area.
Real authentic food! Real authentic people! Felt like I was transported out of the fast paced city life into a small and welcoming Mexican bodega.
Clean restaurant, and hidden gem: A jewelry store in the basement, with a welcoming, nice sales rep Monica! They currently have an easter special where you can get a discount on your purchases by opening a cute little egg. I got two beautiful pairs of earrings for $44! A bargain, and perfect place to pick out cute small gifts for a loved one.
I cant say enough good things about this place! Their salsas are amazing. Chorizo is incredible. Tamales are the best Ive ever had.The portion sizes at the resturant are insane. And dirt cheap for quality food. The topping bar is a great idea and very fresh.Come hungry and leave in a food coma!
They have the best taco over the USA! I have tried different taco resturants in different states but no one can compare with them. They have the best source, chef and service, I love this places and I have been here so many times! i will keep visiting it!
Placed an order for pickup, but when I arrived, they never received it. Waited on them to make it. When they found out, order wasn’t rushed or prioritized, so it took the same time as if I were to order in person.I recommend just going there in person instead of placing orders online until they refine the process and train cashiers on what to do when they forget an order. They also need a pickup line so those ordering don’t have to wait in a long line just to pick up an order. To add insult to injury, I got home and realized they forgot the elote on my order.
Perfect tamales and conchas! The best.
Just left there...tacos and burrito.. chicken was dry...found two hairs in beef butrito...if this is authentic Mexican food...I am disappointed and the hair was repulsive ...wont be back.
Hands down, the best place for tacos in Cleveland. Move over, Barrio! You have nothing on La Plaza’s taqueria! We have tried the torta and nachos, also very good. The grocery store is awesome, too. We love to get the fajitas de res and chorizo. Pastries always come out tasting fantastic. Everything from the guacamole, pico de Gallo, to the choices for tortillas, you really can’t go wrong with coming here for an authentic meal. I always suggest people to try this place when they tell me how good Condado or Barrio is.
I have been coming to the la plaza several time and they dont know how to treat the people right, I dont know whats there problem when people are going to cash out, I really dont recommend it AT ALLL!!! really bad service, why are they making there faces when people are going to cash out and they dont be polite to the people either, really disappointed with there service, never going back again.
Authentic Mexican grocery store.
Sunday afternoons have quickly turned into a prime time to explore new places with friends. I had been eyeing this place for a while, so after church one day my friends and I ventured there for lunch. This is one of the most authentic places I have been. Not for the faint of heart, it really helps knowing your Spanish. The store is filled with authentic Mexican produce, spices, meats, cheese, dry goods, baked goids, and treats. In the back is where you can order food to either take with you or dine inside. It isnt pretty: it was a bit dirty. This place focuses on the product, not the aesthetics. I am willing to sacrifice that for a taste of authenticity. The staff are very friendly, and I get the impression they appreciate it when adventurous people venture in for the first time. For my lunch I enjoyed Chorizo and AlPastor tacos with a Guava soda and Elote. The tacos were spicy and delicious. There is a condiment bar so you can dress them however you would like (Cilantro, Pico de Gallo, Guacamole, etc). The soda is sweet and refreshing. I was disappointed with the Elote. It was canned corn in a cup with the Cheese, Butter, and Mayo. Not particularly good. I would much rather have fresh.Too often I feel people settle for the comfort of standard texmex restaurants with massive margaritas and Americanized food. For those who want a real, authentic taste of Mexican food and culture, this is the place!
It was my first time visiting this restaurant on Oct 16,2020.The food was phenomenal. The staff was so kind. I will visit again. My sister enjoyed her tacos as well. I will let all my friends and family know about this establishment.
The most delicious Mexican food in the United States. I have traveled extensively in Mexico and find la plaza supermarket to have absolutely authentic food. Positively delicious
Best exotic products from Mexico and central America and south America
5/5 the best AUTHENTIC Mexican food Ive ever had in my life. Period. Very authentic. I had a chicken taco ($3) and a barbacoa torta ($9) and wow. I was blown away how good the meat tasted for both dishes. The tacos are out of this world. Highly recommend!!! Great hidden gem
Best nopales and ceviche ever!
A great Hispanic supermarket with pretty much anything you could reasonably be looking for. But lets be honest, the real reason to come here is the prepared tacos and burritos.During a trip to San Diego I had a life changing Taco moment when eating REAL tacos for the first time at a small chain based in Tiajuana. After returning home I knew I had to find authentic tacos in Cleveland. After much searching I found La Plaza. These tacos are so good with freshly grilled meat, toasted soft double corn shells, a toppings bar with all the onions, cilantro, lime, guac, and salsas you could ask for. After adding some house made tortilla chips or chicharrones and a Mexican soda made with real sugar, I dont know how it could be much better. The prices are pretty reasonable as well. Get the Tacos El Pastor, you wont be disappointed. As an added bonus, in the summer they move a food cart out in front of the store and grill up everything there in the fresh air and sunshine.
Always love it. The butcher and bread are wonderful.
Extremely friendly staff. Best Mexican food in town by a long shot. My coworkers and I get their food for lunch multiple times a week. Always outstanding.
Im a newbie (about 2 weeks!) from San Diego and my wife is from Mexico. I have been desperately asking others from CA where the good Mexican spots are at after having no luck myself. Was recommended this supermarket and taco shop. When I first walked into the market my senses were filled with familiarities from home in South San Diego. I was impressed with the variety of items they have and their panadaria also looks great. I ate a carne asada burrito at their taco shop. I will def be back. It is definitely catered towards gringos, however, the carne and the salsas were fantastic. I look forward to trying more from the menu. I will probably go with a torta or taco de tripas. While this isnt like home in the nearest sense, it promises to be the closest I will get in my new home of Cleveland and I will say it that it should really suffice. Not to mention my wife will be able to do her thing in the kitchen without worry. She was really concerned.
Deli, restaurant, and bakery items are delicious. I see lots of care and the foods are very fresh. Many grocery items that you cant get at other groceries.
Great Mexican Market! Theyve got everything!
Nice specialty store.
This place was delicious. I can’t wait to have it again. I got a steak burrito and the steak was flavorful and tender. My girlfriend got the chicken burrito and she was impressed. Staff was friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely be having this again very soon. 10/10 RECOMMEND.
Every time we come to town from Indiana we always stop and enjoy the excellent food and delightful people. Before leaving a supermarket trip holds us over till we get to visit again.
Im from Los Angeles California & this is as close as it gets to Mexican food(Viva la Raza)
Delivered pizza here. They first gave me the wrong address and then only tipped a dollar on a $68 order after I ran around trying to find the right place.
I probably go here once a week. the best place to eat in Lakewood and their grocery store is awesome. they have an entire aisle of coolers full of cold imported drinks for super cheap. burritos the size of your head with great ingredients. I tried tripe here and I liked it
Hands down, the best tacos in Cleveland!
La plaza taqueria on Sunday afternoon, my wife and I came for tacos we were craving from this place. It was a big disappointment to see the cooks behind the grill cooking and preparing food without wearing a mask and gloves 🧤 .... come on ... really ?! Some people don’t understand simple common sense. We are still going through a pandemic. Respect the rules in hygiene while running a business needs.
My coworked ay Thee dispensary recommended this place, AWESOME FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE HERE! I got three chicken tacos and the horchata and it was the best choice I’ve made food wise ! 10/10 would recommend 🙌🏽
It’s hard to find good, authentic Mexican food but La Plaza is out of this world. Best tasting tacos I’ve had in a very long time. Packed with flavor and fresh ingredients. Staff is super friendly. You won’t regret coming here!
Saw this place on channel 8-here I am, totally terrific. I enjoyed beef stew with rice from their in store prepared foods. There are many options. Great bakery. My daughter ate tacos from their outdoor cart-totally awesome. Very nice people, terrific outdoor eating area. Try it, youll love the authenticity.
This is a critical location on your list of favorite northeast Ohio grocery stores. Come here for traditional S.AM. fair but also grab some salsas, chips, and all kinds of amazing food they prepare in-house. Nice location and there is always parking. This is a fun place to go pick up the classics while grabbing something exciting and new. They recently, by popular demand, ramped up their taco operation and we are ALL very happy about it!
Not the biggest store in size, but mighty big in selection of all the things needed to prepare good Mexican food. I make it a habit to stop in when ever I am in the vicinity. They are the only place that carries my favorite hot sauce from Guatemala. They have all the dried chilies, fresh vegetables, meats, cheeses, etc. that you may need. Also have prepared foods. They have expanded to a small eat in area in the back. I usually get the tamales they have available in bulk in the refrigerated section. I can enjoy for days. Also easy to get to right off I-90.
Probably the only Mexican grocery store / taco stand in Ohio thats somewhat close to what they have in California. The price is completely outrageous for the tacos but when theres nowhere else around you pay for it. And Im willing to pay for it Im not complaining. It was hella hella hella good
Te amor mucho! Thank you for feeding me authentic Spanish foods!!!
The Mexican sweet bread is overpriced, and you are lucky to find it fresh; Its usually hard. Also, the $3 small tacos seem too expensive and mediocre at best. If you have eaten authentic tacos in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, or México; this is not the place for you. However, the rest of the store is okay with a larger selection. Just make sure you check the expiration dates.
Great place to buy what you need for cooking Spanish meals. Produce, meats and spices is just some of the things that you will find there. They also have hot foods cooked fresh daily that you will enjoy. Check it out for yourself you wont be disappointed. Thank you La Plaza. ❤❤❤Kathie M.
Favorite, favorite tacos in Cleveland. We usually buy their containers of chicken or the al pastor and their homemade chips. They also serve pico by the container, and then the grocery store has everything else you need to make some truly decadent tacos or nachos at home. We got the salsa verde once and it nearly melted our faces off but we loved every minute of it. That isnt to say it is always super spicy, it seems to depend on the day and the pepper.
While many like their tacos, I go for the huge burritos. Best Burritos CLE!
The first time I visited this place was several months ago. I got the steak and chicken tacos. I was actually a little disappointed, particularly with the steak taco which I thought was a bit salty. So I stayed away for awhile. Then I saw that there was a remodel/restructuring and decided to give it another try. Visited for lunch on a Saturday and it was fairly packed. It took no time to get the food however. I like the remodel at lot, the salsa bar is definitely a nice upgrade. This time I didnt go for the steak taco but the chicken and pastor were really good. Also tried the elote which was a really great balance of flavors. I plan on exploring a lot more of the menu in the future.
LITERALLY JUST THE BEST TACOS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND AMAZING CATERING OPTIONS!!!! TWO PARTIES CATERED NOW WITH LA PLAZA FOR A GREAT FIESTA.
Great market for picking up your meats, cheeses, and other items for preparing authentic Latin American fare. Bonus taco and burrito counter in the back for an amazing eat-in take-out experience. Bakery seems really good as well, but I havent indulged. Overall good place with kind and attentive staff. Good selection.
Awesome staff and great new Taqueria. Street food with fresh ingredients and packed with flavor you find on the West Coast. A must place to go eat on your way to the Park, Zoo, or ball game. Enjoy!
These tacos are AMAZING. My friend is from Mexico and he introduced us to this place. I love getting a different selection every time I come. The enchiladas and quesadillas are delicious too. The staff is always friendly and the service is quick. Highly recommend a visit.
Amazing food! Burrito was delicious and big enough to feed two people
Very authentic and delicious tacos. Double tortilla and plenty of meat inside. A salsa bar with cilantro and onions as well. Fast, cheap, and amazing! Cash only though. Will definitely come back!
The guy that makes the tacos deserves a raise due to his excellent customer service and skills on the grills. However, in all honesty, for authentic Mexican tacos, they are mediocre at best. Not to mention they are way too overpriced. $3 a taco is way too much. Looks like they raised the price in order to fund the renovations. We bought 40 tacos and spent $120. I believe the only reason this place is still in business is due to the fact that there is no competition around. They charge $5-$8 for watered down sauces with no flavor. With that being said, Ill probably still come back until theres another option.
Went there because we wanted to try out the tacos. Finally a place that looked as if it had authentic tacos but nope. Definitely better than something like tacobell but still bad. I cant wait to go back to NYC to have some real tacos. The market itself wasnt that bad. It offered a lot of variety of products.
We are visiting Solon from Dallas, Texas and were looking everywhere in Solon and the surrounding area for some canned pickled jalapenos to make some poppers for my husbands family reunion. They were not to be found anywhere in Solon and no one knew where we could go to find some. We searched and found La Plaza, called to see if they had what we needed and then made the 25 minute drive to the store. The girl on the phone was very helpful and gave us pretty clear directions. The store had a good variety of Mexican food products and you can be sure we will be there again the next time we visit Solon. I highly recommend La Plaza!
The tacos are amazing! Like... REAL TACOS!!! Flavorful, fresh and all the toppings you want to add. Also, there is a good variety of Latin products (not only Mexican). So, if you want to try Colombian food, you can look for things there too.
I had the grande burrito which cost $10. Yes its a little pricey....but really good! I didnt encounter any rude workers, but then again it wasnt that busy when I went. The place was clean to me too. Ive seen some of the reviews talking trash about this supermarket restaurant being dirty or rude workers. I mean, maybe they came in on a bad really busy day. Weve all had those kinda days. But I was very happy with my burrito. Filled me up the entire day, NO JOKE!
Twice now I was sold bad pork from their carnicero in the back and my wife got REALLY bad food poisoning from their al pastor tacos. Now I know their meat department was shutdown twice for infractions.
It’s crazy how they taking advantage of this virus to raise their prices up way to high now. It’s ridiculous I live this place but this is to much!
Bomb burritos and tacos at their grill! Get the barbacoa or steak!
Great food, fast service. Tacos and tostadas are awesome. Great topping bar. My go to
Best Mexican food in Cleveland. Try the pozole that they have on weekends. It’s out of this world.
Some of the best Mexican food Ive ever had. Great market as well.
I had a previous bad experience with this place and doordash. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I decided to go back for a second try. Let me just say that I love these people. So friendly and it reminds me of being home in New Mexico. The tacos were prepared fast and had great flavor. The supermarket is impressive too. Ive been breaking my neck trying to make Spanish dishes at home with the poor selection from giant eagle. Im really excited to try more produce and meat.
Good simple tacos that are cheap. Fantastic spot!
This place is a gem. I like it not just for the tacos, but also the tamales, fresh salsa, homemade nacho chips, chicharrones, pickled veggies, bakery, etc. Been a customer for many years. I hired them to cater an event for me at my workplace and they were great to work with and did a wonderful job. The food was delicious. A+.That last review was pretty dumb.
La Plaza is a true Mexican market, I ordered some Lengua from the meat counter and it was fresh and cooked perfectly. Their carry out tamales were excellent, stuffed with meat, and the masa was seasoned nicely. My only complaint was that the produce was not fresh. At least of 1/3 of the jalapeños were moldy. Otherwise, it was a decent experience.
This place is my most favorite place ever. Ha. All the Spanish food you could want. Great prices on meat. Fresh tamales. And they have a freaking jewelry store and the best Spanish restaurant ever. Theres a meat they have sometimes for tacos Lengue and its cow tongue but its the best around. Put that on a taco ..they have amazing chorizo too. Its all good honestly. Ill add they have a full toppings bar with great sauces full roasted jalapenos. And its super cheap. Ive been going for years. And watched it grow and change. Its really something cool. Thanks guys for all that you do!
I love this place. Its the only store around here where I can find huitlacoche. Their Oaxaca cheese is awesome.Theyre also the nicest people youll ever meet - I have never experienced what the reviewer J experienced. They have amazing chili relleno and tamales (plus vegetarian versions of these!), delicious pastries, a decent wine selection, cheap household necessities (sponges, soap, white vinegar, etc) and probably the cheapest avocados youll find in this neighborhood. They sell hard-to-find beverages imported from south of the border. If youve never had toasted coconut juice, youre missing out. And they have it. All the time.PS: Shopping here is also a great way to practice your Spanish. Theyre non-judgmental, and happy to help with learning basic phrases.
Lots of options on the menu, staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere was really laid back. You can also pick up some bulk food and sundries. Prices are awesome. Will definitely shop here again.
Great food and quick! Nice little hole in the wall with GREAT food!!
Expensive for poor portions, didnt get what I wanted at all!! $20 for 3 tacos ☹️☹️☹️☹️
I can always count on La Plaza for a great meal. Best authentic Mexican food in Cleveland area. People are great. Lots of different choices always. Love it
Authentic Mexican food in the restaurant towards the back of the supermarket. It’s a two for one visit when me and my husband goes. We buy our food to eat and do a little food shopping all in the same place
The Carne is so delicious!! The staff is friendly 😎. I love this store! It smells Amazing before you walk through the door! Makes me still feel like I live in LA again;).
Best burrito Ive had in a long time.
Awesome supermarket for picking up Latin ingredients. I you want to up your cooking game with some authentic products this is a great store.
Sunday mid-morning, Im walking around Lakewood with a powerful hunger, looking for a place to spend my 8 dollars. My favorite pastry shop is closed... sad face. I end up on Lakewood Heights Boulevard, heading home, defeated. In the distance, I hear... music. Beautiful trumpets and the aroma of meat wind around me. Could it be?Ten minutes later, I have a burrito the size of a newborn and still have a dollar left. And its Delicious! Loaded with everything. Ill be going back.
Great grocery market with the best tacos in Cleveland.
I used to live right around the corner from this store, and I was there when they opened. Beautiful people, clean & organized store layout, and wonderful products. I miss being able to take my kids there to pick up authentic foods and teach them about different Hispanic cultures. ❤👍🎉🍰🍍🌵🌊🌇
Really good tacos. I had the Al Pastor, Carnitas, and Carne Asada. All were great but I liked the two pork the best. I liked the dark red spicy salsa the best from the toppings bar. I also liked the grilled onions and jalapenos that were available. The flavors were deep and savory. Definitely need to go back when I return to Cleveland.
The BEST chips, salsa, and guacamole Ive ever had. And Im a true Mexican Food aficienado! Ive had it from here to South California, and this is the best Ive had! The rest of the food i awesome too, with a very wide variety. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for, right??
Decent market containing some Hispanic products
I love last plaza! Some of the best tacos around. And their fresh baked breads, and tamales, and the meats and cheeses. All of it.
Amazing store and tacos after living 4 year in Mexico I finally found a market that made feel like I was still there. Thank you
Ordered Al pastor taco. loved it ! Boyfriend ordered their grande burrito with carne asada and it was delicious ! Its 45 minute drive but the food was worth it.
Great selection of groceries. The real reason to come here is the tacos they make in the back of the story. They are phenomenal.
Ive been hearing and reading about this place for a while and I finally got the chance to go. I was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and the tacos I got was very good. I will be heading back soon to try something different.
Great little store. Love the chorizo. Way colder than your average grocery. Totally wish I had a coat.
Best 🌮’s in town....In a fair fight who would win, taco or grilled cheese?
Walked into the supermarket and headed toward the deli in the back. Found a sign directing me to pay for what I want up front. A little funky, but didnt hurt my feelings. They take debit, credit, and cash. Grabbed a Mexican Coke to go with it. Tacos are $2 a piece, I ordered 3, and the total was $7.39. Then proceeded back to the deli where I handed the cook my receipt and told him what I wanted. I got a Chorizo, an Al Pastor, and a Carnitas. They hand you the tacos in a paper basket. You can turn around to the table behind you and dress them with onion, cilantro, lime, and 3 different types of salsa. I tried the green salsa, and was super happy with it. Each taco was delicious in different ways, but the double corn soft shell fresh off the griddle wrapped them up perfectly.I will be a regular, as this is the best taco Ive had in Cleveland.
I love coming here to get chorizo tacos - so tasty & cheap (they make them to order for you in the back & there are tables to sit at or you can take it to go). I also have bought chorizo from the deli area to make my own tacos at home. Its not the nicest or cleanest grocery store ever but Ive never seen a foreign food market that was. Also great place to get bulk tortillas and everything else you need for your Mexican dishes.
Shout out to the best tacos in Cleveland hands down!!!
Best Tacos in Cleveland. the tortas are my personal favorite. Authentic and delicious.
ATTN Vegans. There is an option on the menu to make anything vegan but they clearly have no understanding what that term means. I ordered 2 burritos and 4 tacos all to be vegan and they all had cheese on them. Make sure you clarify this with them that dairy is NOT vegan. I normally dont have to explain this at restaurants that have signs up saying an item can be made vegan.
