This place has the potential to be a wonderful amenity to our area for anyone needing lumber/building supplies. However, it is ran by grumpy old men that pay no attention to you as you walk up to the counter to order. Once I caught their attention with my initial $15,500 order they mumbled off something along the lines of ok well get it. A few weeks later once I finished building my deck, I had some material to return. Evidently thats a no-no at this facility if you have any special order material. One old fellow was so upset at my request that he threw a handful of papers across the floor and mumbled a couple curse words - what a child. Ive been in this place a couple times over the last few years and never had a decent experience but this time it was worth a review to speak of my experience.

The go to place to get straight lumber and other building supplies that lowes and home depot dont carry. It is like stepping back to a simpler time when service, quality of building supplies and customer satisfaction were what mattered.

I feel it necessary to leave a review after the outstanding service I recently received from Poindexter Lumbers shop. They provided the help I needed with my project quickly and with a great attitude. I will definitely revisit Poindexter Lumber and their shop. Id especially like to thank Frank for all his help and advice.

Got some wood cut to dimensions at the mill. I did business with Frank, the manager at the woodshop. I received an excellent service and sound advices for my project. Frank is a very knowledgeable and friendly employee. I will return again if I need wood for another project.Edit: I realized during the course of my project that the lumbers were not all planed at the same dimension, one was 1/16 larger. Also one lumber was NOT dry, full of sap.

Needed advice about remodeling a deck. Mark was a huge help and walked me through the lumbar yard giving me different options and discussing the pro and cons. I did purchase wood from the yard and it was delivered on time and free of charge. Will definitely go back again!!

Friendly staff, helped me choose and load lumber into my truck. The quality of the lumber, though, is what stands out to me the most. I wont be getting any more wood at the big box stores anymore - this is where I will come from now on. It might cost a little more, but its worth every penny!!!

My experience started out great with all of the sales associates but after we received our cabinets we were horribly disappointed. The cabinets were supposed to be red. They were red but were about five different shades of red and the glaze looked like a two year old put it on. The manager at Poindexter said it was Kraftmaids responsibility to refund our money and Kraftmaid said we had to go through Poindexter. No one wants to stand behind their product. The one star would be for the sales associates because they are really helpful. As for management I cant say the same.

Huge lumber yard, more for builders than homeowners. Typical service for a lumber yard, your usually glanced at by the help for a few minutes. Then someone asks if they can help you. Its the kind of place, that if they dont have it, they can usually get it.

I’m giving a 1 star, not because my experience was even worth a star but because it is necessary to initiate the review processBEWARE HOMEOWNERS! If you are contemplating a kitchen remodel, Poindexter Lumber Company, Clemmons NC is NOT the place go for kitchen cabinets! Let me start this review by saying I should have turned and run the first morning my husband and I met with Bobby to discuss our cabinet style and design. In the hour we spent with him, he scoffed about a customer who had recently ordered red cabinets, and another customer who was wasting their money on new cabinets when she had an outdated odd pass through in her kitchen. He also told us all of the dirt on his female coworker whom he can’t stand and wanted fired (but I’ll just leave those details alone). I viewed this as very unprofessional and didn’t have time for it so my responses were: did he advised against the color red for future resale potential, or did he suggest opening up or closing the odd pass through in order to update the other lady’s floor plan. His response both times was “No, that’s what they want”. Well, common sense should have kicked in and shown me that if he was not professional enough to make constructive suggestions (he so eagerly gossiped about); he surely did not care about the outcome or the customer relationship. No skin off his nose as long as Poindexter Lumber Company got the cash. Should I have known better, yes. But in my defense, I had full trust in Poindexter Lumber Company, as I had for twenty (something) years.I specifically told Bobby that I wanted no lazy susan cabinets, as the contractor had mentioned from a preliminary plan. Bobby also suggested a pull out spice cabinet, and I said absolutely not. He was told no several times concerning these expensive extras, but he ordered them anyway (On my dollar of course). And since no order summary or inventory list is given -written or verbal, just a bill total, he has free reign of my money. This action I consider a form of theft - bill padding. He ordered these extras to bump up the sale to benefit Poindexter. This, in my opinion is the worst part of this whole mess. This is about as unethical as business can get. When I came home to see these in my kitchen, I told the installer take them out, he said “Bobby said they can’t be returned”. Of course not, how convenient and profitable for Poindexter Lumber Company. Hope Bobby got a cut for all his efforts. It’s not over…the cabinet design was at most haphazard. Cabinet doors opened onto the window, large gaps underneath the cabinets (one was 2 ½ inches! Hope I can add the pic showing my entire arm going up in between the cabinets!) Word to the amateur…learn how to read the plans given to your installer! These gaps were planned by Bobby. Management at Poindexter (Chris – Owners grandson) says not their responsibility. Heard it no less than 15 times in response to everything we had to say.My best advice to the first timer kitchen remodel victim:1) don’t listen to the crap about big box stores. They actually care about customer service and have policies and procedures in place to protect themselves AND the customer! Everything is in writing and requires your written approval. No bill padding!2) Do your homework. Learn how to read the plans. Ask where any fillers are and how big and visible are they. Use the internet to explore your options as to how to fill your space with cabinets. Do not just lay your kitchen in someone else’s lap. You have to live with and in it!For pictures of our beautiful Kraftmaid kitchen cabinets from Home Depot – private message me on Facebook. The Kraftmaid cabinets from Poindexter Lumber Company are stacked in the garage for sale.Ripped off for $12,000.00 by Poindexter ($6,000.00 + in unauthorized extras)
