Lives up to everything that you were told and more. Definitely a tourist trap, but for once something lived up to the hype. Gorgeous place. I rarely do anything twice. Ill be back. From the time you walk in. You are in awe. Every employee was courteous, friend and welcoming. I love that place. Will be back.
Great experience! Go late afternoon, its quieter. One free drink and a face mask. They give towels out too. Didnt purchase any extra food or drink, but others said it was expensive. Shower and changing area clean and tidy and plenty of ladies to help with the lockers. Reception give you a wristband with a scanner on, to lock and open them. Worth a visit even in the cold October air. Water very warm. Dont forget to put conditioner in your hair, otherwise the silica drys it out. Conditioner supplied in shower cubicles, and dont forget your shower nude before entry! Best to drink plenty of water too.
Definitely somewhere you have to go at-least once! It’s for sure a tourist trap and kind pricey, but it was very cool and even the cheap package includes a mud mask and a drink. Also, go early! We went right when they opened and it was perfect! Compared to when we drove by around 18:00 and it was packed!
Nice hot springs experience. Pretty crowded as expected from a touristy place, but most of the time it didnt bother us. We purchased our tickets on advanced, a few day prior to our visit. The check was really efficient and organized. We got a bracelet that uses as a key to our private locker. After getting in, you need to take a shower and put loads of conditioner on your hair. The showers were also crowded and we had to wait a bit, but it was mostly clean, with nice warm water. After that, you can finally get inside the hot water. We got a silica face mask that was included in the comfort package that we bought. The water were great and especially beautiful because of their unique color. When you get out you can take a towel and go to the showers again. There are changing room to get dressed afterwards. At the exit, you have to scan your bracelet and pay extra charge if you bought any extras (drinks, face masks etc.) And thats it. Great experience, definitely recommend!
If you can find time to relax, even if you don’t particularly like relaxing (like me) then visit this place. The water is amazing, forced relaxation, if there is such a thing, and naturally heated water. A free beer and face pack finishes it off. Very highly recommend and I’d recommend doing this AFTER the volcano hike - perfect end to the day.
If you visit Iceland, you have to visit the Blue lagoon. Okay it is a bit of a tourist trap, but there is a reason for it, because it is amazing. We were lucky enough to visit at the beginning of October so it wasnt very busy. Of course the main thing about this place is the pool, the hot water, which is a mix of hot spring water and salt water pumped 2kms from the beach. There are also 2 steam rooms and a sauna to add to the wellness experience. If like us you opt for the slightly more expensive premium offer, you also get to visit the pool bar for an included drink where you can choose from healthy smoothies or wine, beer or cider. On top of that you can also visit the mask bar and get 3 face masks which really make you skin feel good. With the premium ticket, you also get a dressing gown and flip flops which are useful when you get out of the pool but unfortunately when you go in the pool there is no real system to identify your robe from the other 100 identical ones hanging around but that is a small issue. There is also a small relaxation room with 8 chairs which seems a little bit too small considering how busy it must get in high season. For the premium we paid 150€ for 2 which even for Icelandic prices is pretty high but I still think it is something that everybody needs to experience.
It was beautiful but I did not enjoy the services for the price. I paid €56 for the “premium” to go in the geothermal spa. There was not a lot of guidance for how to get your premium package. I was not offered my robe or flip flops, and it was difficult to even get a towel. It was very unclear how to get my drinks. The workers in the face mask bar gave out free face masks to people who didn’t pay for the extra package. It seemed like a money grab everywhere. I paid 3.300ISK for a waterproof phone case that was just as good as a ziplock bag.Too many children and nosy people for a “luxury spa”. Blue Lagoon is a bucket list place, but completely overrated. It is misleading that this place is a natural geothermal spa. It is a by product of a massive geothermal heating plant, where you can see the factory in the distance.Spend your money elsewhere. Take a free photo outside or on the side of the road and do something more original.
Oh boy. Sadly this is only one of the few things I knew about Iceland, but luckily for good reason. The place is amazing. The water is warm and full of minerals, the staff is friendly and the free drink in the water restaurant is cool. The nearby restaurant offers some great fish, steak and good wines. I definitely recommend it. The prices are slightly steep sadly.
Delightful geothermal spa to spend 2 hours in! As Google would tell you, it is a created spa, where they have mixed sea water and the water from the underground spring. The temperature is 38°C. The ticket includes a free drink in their bar, a free silica mud pack, and all the time you can spend in the water. The locker and bath/shower facilities are clean and very convenient.
I am a fan of such place and I was not dissapointed... It is just very expensive but a drink is free ( and servicing quite slow). Unfortunately also A cold bath is missing because all the place is quite warm. The changing room are public and considering the price, private cabin would be something just normal...
The private spa area is really quite expensive but I have no regrets spending the day there with my partner. The cheaper option is more akin to a (quite beautiful) public pool and is still really an experience you do not want to skip whilst visiting Iceland.
Amazing experience. There is no Geo thermal spa like this in the world. Many ppl argue that its expensive and you should go to Vok Baths but again this product is uniqe and there is nothing like it. It is a must do if you are visiting Iceland.
A group of us went here for a few hours and purchased the premium package, comes with robes, slippers, 2 drinks of our choice, and 3 mud masks at the lagoon. Lockers were clean and the facility was well managed. It was a good experience. The place is beautiful with a relaxed atmosphere. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it. The food at the lava restaurant was wonderful with exceptional service they were so accommodating since we were in a rush. You definitely have to visit if you come to Iceland.
This was the most fantastic few hours Ive ever spent anywhere in the world! Loved ever second of our visit.
Amazing, worth the money! Perfect place to calm down and chill. Friendly staff. Big lagoon with lots of chances to find a quiet place. Highly recommended!
The services are good the service offers everything that is needed for a soak The restaurant offers high end dishes good servings
100% satisfied. Experience worth to travelling to Iceland just for this particular reason. Masks are something you must try.
Worth the trip if in Iceland, it was beautiful to visit at night. Change room facilities were clean and lockers secure.
What an absolutely fabulous experience. We went on a trip booked with Rekyjavik Excursions which ran smoothly. Wed booked a Premier with robe, slippers, free drink and 3 face masks. It was fun ethereal and very well run. Air temp was about - 5 in a stiff breeze but with water at 38c it was easy to warm up. If you get the chance go you wont regret it.
The experience is fun. The lagoon itself is gross. Just dont touch the side walls. I did by accident and my fingernails were filled with what felt like soap scum from a shower. 🤢 They have a steam room and sauna which was excellent. There is a face mask bar and a regular bar. From what I saw nobody exited the lagoon to go to the bathroom...... I would never go to the Blue lagoon again I would try skylagoon. If you do go bring your own waterproof case for your phone. There is lockers. The basic package is sufficient the upgrade only allows you to have different face masks and a bathrobe.
Warm spa and it seems it has everything: warm pools, saunas (three of them), massages, mud masks and so on. If you are into indulging yourself with spa then this is the place to be.There is also a short and easy hiking trail around.
I recommend spending a day here soaking and swimming. My skin has not been so happy and soft since I was a kid. Spent almost 7 hours soaking and exploring the lagoon with my husband. If youre in Iceland and like water this is a must stop. (I have bleached blonde hair and followed recommendations to liberally slather hair in conditioner before getting in water to keep my hair from getting dried out by high salinity and silica in the water. Hair came out fine.) The kinks of the flight from America were soaked/pounded out by the high pressure waterfall. Getting a slushy to drink in the hot water from the swim up bar was a treat. Lagoon had visitors from all over the globe and was nice to be at an attraction with all happy humans. At sunset, the pink skies reflecting off the milky blue water were amazing. Buy a waterproof bag for your cell phone if you want pictures, which you will, got one for $3 at Walmart. Same thing sold at the lagoon was 33 ISK!
Loved it. Warm waters with private nooks, face masks, alcoholic drinks to wade around with... Could have spent the whole day here
Beautiful and a great time! Their customer service is also very helpful. We messed up our dates and they were able to help us reschedule. You get a silica mask and a drink included in your base reservation. So many lovely drink options from smoothies to hard cider. You can easily spend close to your allowed 4 hours here no problem. The experience is very pricy though.
3.5 stars. You have to go here. Its clean modern but its also manmade and the water not that warm. Cool that you could have a few drinks while bathing. Excellent facilities.Good to tick off the list
Amazing, beautiful & relaxing.
Great experience! Definitely need to come back!
Wonderful well worth the price
Its amazing. Unlike anything else in the world. Filled by seawater that percolates through hot magma and also supplies geothermal electricity. You dont want to miss it. Its a good place to stay for a day or two before you head out to the airport because its close and very relaxing. Try the retreat spa. There are 2 great hotels and we stayed in the Silica.
2nd time being at the blue lagoon and I love it there. The place is so big that youre not crowded on top of each other, the water is amazing and you can lose yourself for hours there just relaxing
Honestly thought their tasting menu was very good value, given the great service and unparalleled locale. 100$ per person gets you 4 well prepared courses.
What a fun experience. While the price is certainly not cheap ( we paid 79EUR for the premium package) It’s absolutely worth a visit. Steamy hot water, beautiful scenery, 3 face masks, and a drink of your choice ( beer, wine, soft). In addition you also get a robe and slippers.Customer service was also top notch with friendly and helpful staff.Do not miss if it’s your first time in Iceland.I only gave them 4 stars due to their website which didn’t work yet charged me 10 times and then returned the money at a new exchange rate (chase corrected ) For me, the booking process is a part of the whole experience.
One of the most touristy places in Iceland for a reason. The water temperature is perfect. Even though it can be crowded the lagoon is large enough to not feel cramped. The premium package with extra masks, slippers and dressing gown made the whole experience a lot more comfortable.Definitely book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Loved it. Must visit if you go to Iceland
Other than its high price, its an amazing place.
Absolutely worth all they hype! The retreat area was an adults playground. So much to do but in the most relaxing way! I will Absolutely go back.
An unique experience. A must do if you visit Iceland. The mud masks were amazing.
One of those touristic places that you have to go. The water is amazing, so warm and comfortable. Do not get afraid of going there during a light rain, the cold rain while you are inside the warm pool feels just right. A Pro tip is to put some conditioner on your hair ( you can find it there for free, and also shampoo) and leave it while you are enjoying the pool. This prevents your hair to get dry from the mineralized water.
Worth spending the day here. I personally love spas and outdoors so this is the perfect combination. No matter how the weather is there is always great times to have!
A must to do in Iceland .. I take a star off for not including a robe with basic admission. Its an upgrade. Also, the locker room process was disorganized but at least there are private showers with doors!Overall, a neat experience!
Whats not to love about sitting in a 100+ degree bath while its 30 degrees (f) outside? Your skins going to be smooth and dry. Especially if you are from a humid climate. That being said. If you are here. You should just go.
Very enjoyable visit on our first day in Iceland
Lovely relaxing place. Really fun. Go and enjoy.
Really nice. The price is to expensive. But its a must see. I was in Myvatn to. Both are great on there way.
Good facilities. A fun way to spend 2-3 hours.
Must see and enjoy while visiting IcelandGreat place simply greatVery modern designed and decorated buildingVery professional serviceGreat experience 👍
This a magic place. Best investment in Iceland
A very nice hotel. I would stay here again.
Blue lagoon is a great relaxing area. Dont miss it, when you are visiting Iceland. The pictures are taken in front of the bath. Inside there will be more people.
Location is about 40 min away if you drive from Reykjavik. Some say its better to go there on your way from/to the airport because Blue Lagoon is closer to airport. But actually, it would make you have to rush. Say if you go there after a long flight, you probably wont have the energy to enjoy and relax for hours. So I think its worth one whole day prepared for just this and some other simple site viewing. The hot water is not actually fresh water as I thought. They pumped sea water to 2000 meter deep into the earth to warm it up. So its sea water actually. I recommend to get the premium package that includes a sparkling wine, 3 masks, and bathrobe and flip flops. Its only 10+ dollars more. There isnt really much to do in the city of Reykjavik so I would say Blue Lagoon is where you have to stop for four or five hours during the trip. Dont go at night, you wont see much.
This was our favorite meal of our trip. My husband and I both got the fish of the day, which was cod, served over mashed potatoes, and had a crab cream sauce that was divine! The sourdough was good, we especially liked the barley sourdough. The butter was good too! I would go back just for bread and butter. But definitely get the cod if its available.
A very beautiful spa whose water is from brine got from the nearby geothermal power plant. This brine offers warm relaxation and health benefits to the body.A must visit for everyone.
Peaceful and just lovely
This place is unbelievable! As advertised and more! The lagoon is majestic and a wonderful experience. I would highly suggest opting for the resort and getting the full resort experience. Great place to relax and unwind.
Amazing place to relax and enjoy life. Beautiful area, and good service
A beautiful resort with exceptional service. Observation deck to enjoy the Northern lights experience. An amazing lagoon. Moss restaurant is a unique fine dining experience. The experience is really above 5 star.
Had amazing experience.
You have to experience this at least once in your life. Perfectly clear where to go on road. Big parking space. Then you go through narrow walk line and enter the building. Present your barcode or reservation number and there you go. You will receive band (color depends on what package you bought). If you have blue wristband dont take bathrobe. Its for upgraded packages. Climb the stairs into the changing room. There are signs in every room so will understand how to use the band and electronic lock. Take a shower, apply conditioner (leave it in your hair or you will lose beard/hair color in pool) and leave showers down the stairs. Now the fun starts. It was freezing cold when we left the building. Those 15 metres between building and pool after shower was killer distance. I got sore throat for 3 days after that. But to continue the water was really warm. Great. Color, temperature. Temperature in pool varies. You want warmer place? Stay near rised wooden structures. You want colder places? Go in the middle of big pool. If you take phone with you there is security guard that is happy to take photos of you in pool. One white face mask is for free. Then you can buy black mask. One drink in pool bar is free. You can choose whatever one you like. The most expensive non-alcoholic was the green one mixture of fruits, vegetables. It is completely green but tastes great (wife said). I had coca cola 😂 You can stay in lagoon as long as you want. We stayed 2 hours. When we were leaving the pool we didnt feel cold. We were so hot it was just like walking in ful winter clothes 4 layer shell. Amazing. Just dont forget to get Panadol with lots of Vitamin C (or some other medicaments for cold prevention).
Good quality place, the water was amazing and we really liked the face masks offered while in the water. Nice lockers rooms and showers. It is touristy, but what do you expect, its a tourist attraction in Iceland... regardless, pool is huge, no one will bother you, plenty of room for everyone. We had a great time.
Wow, amazing experience of taking bath in fuming hot sulphur pools with flakes of Snow fallig over the face.. Also good restaurants inside the pool areas seving Beer & cocktails.
Great place to visit, been many many times over the years first time was 1989 last time was 2016.photos bellow are from 89 before it became commercial, one vending machine and a wooden shed to change. Geothermal power station in the back ground.
Its pricey to visit but we felt it was worth it as an experience whilst on our honeymoon. The swim up bar was fab and everything is done via an electronic bracelet given to you on arrival, including operating your locker, which was very handy.
Great natural SPA to spend a couple of hours and have some drinks in the water. The first one is free!
Was very surprised how much I enjoyed the lagoon!
Fantasticmust go
Loved the place. Very relaxing.
Very cool place. Wish there was a bit more monitoring of items. But was glad to not be checked during shower. Beginning to wonder if that was a myth or urban legend.
Touristy? Sure. Worth it? Absolutely! The basic entrance fee includes and drink and a mud mask. The lagoon is lovely with plenty of space to find your own spot to relax. Steam room and sauna are wonderful as well. Pro tip: if you have longer hair, keep it up out of the water to avoid any silica damage.
It was relaxing and fun, and not crowded at the moment. The brisk air contrasting with the hot waters was quite an experience. I would do this again!
I was surprised that you have to pre-shower before you get in the water, but it makes sense to keep the water as clean as possible. Definitely one of the most amazing and relaxing experiences Ive ever had. I HIGHLY recommend having dinner there, as well. It was one of the best, if not the best, meals we had in all of Iceland
Tempted to give it a 4, but it was just cool enough to get a 5. Commercial, but still felt authentic. Quite unique and holds your interest. A bit touristy, but if you know that going in it is fine. Overall a good time for a solid amount of Kroner.
Decent place. 4900 a person which includes a free drink and silicate mask. Value is on par with the area.
Pretty neat to see and food was good. Try to pick a day that is not crowded
It is expensive but definitely worth it. Had such a good day there. The comfort package was worth it. I wouldnt have gotten much more out of the other packages
Yes, it is a tourist destination...but very well done and tons of fun!! Enjoy!
The price is what it is: expensive. It has been increased much in rather years. To the point that many locals find it cheaper to take a flight out of Iceland than to take the family there. Compared to other places, like the Mývatn Baths, they have eliminated the foul smell that natural springs actually produce. Also, this is not the original location of the original blue lagoon, do a bit of research. It is hard to come to Iceland without paying it a visit.
Very interesting experience. A must visit in Iceland!!
Maybe a bit touristy, but still worth the experience. We stayed at the associated Silica hotel which gives you premium access to the Blue Lagoon which I highly recommend with a three facial masks and a free drink at the swim up bar.
