Best thrift store in town

Ive been a frequent shopper of the HEP Thrift store for the past six years and Ive noticed that now since the store is under new management that there are quite a few items that are GROSSLY overpriced. For example - a name brand high-end jacket (boutique item) had a $300 price tag. There were also a few other items that were GROSSLY overpriced as well...I think management has forgotten that the term THRIFT STORE means affordable and not grossly overpriced. Quite honestly, at some of these not so thrifty prices a shopper may as well buy brand new items at Ross, TJMaxx, Marshalls, etc.

Two stars for cleanliness - but very disorganized and WAY overpriced! Old USED stuff shouldnt be Boutique just because it has a name brand. And USED shoes should not be $25 or MORE no matter what brand.

I used to love this place, that was before the new management took it over. Now this place is a Thrift Store in name only. Under the previous management, this store was very well organized and their prices were very fair 👌. Now, thier prices are RIDICULOUS and the categories of items are all intertwined.Im not only a customer, but I also used to donate some nice stuff to HEP, including furniture; but no more. Now I rather find a place that is going to help the needy with my donations 🙃. HEPs new management has forgotten who shops there, if people wanted to pay high prices or had the money 💰they would go to Department Stores. If you notice, most of the good reviews on HEP Thrift Store are old (from the time when it was a pleasure to shop there)This place has totally lost the appeal with their OUTRAGEOUS prices WOW! I noticed a used coat with a $300 price tag and its not unusual to see OLD tops with $25-$50 tags (or more) just because they have a brand name! and lets not talk about the shoes. People, OLD SHOES are NOT a comodatity! Ill tell you, they are going to BOUTIQUED themselves out of business!

Very nice thrift shop. Clothing, furniture, bric a brack, household and kitchen items. Boutique items also. Prices have went up a little steep lately, dont know who is doing the pricing now. Percent taken off on certain days for certain items.

Stated closing time for Friday 30 October 2020 is 4pm. At 3:29pm gates are closed and locked and no sign of customers or employees. No longer in business? I will try again tomorrow. If not open then my rating will remain at one star. I logged in to write this review five minutes before closing time and Google says they are open. Not true.

Great place for a good cause.

A clean place and they do not put out flawed items. while i do think some items are extremely overpriced for being used items. they do have a boutique section that i think is outrageous. but, you can find a good deal, and good items here.all of the employees i have encountered have been great. good energy.

Great prices. The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. I appreciate this thrift store because they serve the community and help people to recover from alcohol and drug addiction.

I am so excited about all the changes going on here. Great team of workers who love what they do. Store is undergoing major renovations and it’s clean. Prices have stayed the same for 80% of products. All proceeds go to helping the homeless. Shopping with a purpose.

THE Best thrift in the country

I love going to HEP Thrift Store . Its one of the best thrift shops.

I love the HEP thrift store. The proceeds go directly to helping the local homeless. They have a great selection of clothing housewares furniture Etc. Parking is kind of tight especially the spots near the back its hard to get in and out to the dumpster. The staff is friendly and helpful and always available to help you load your things.

I picked up some great bed sheets....brand new....at a very reasonable price

I just got the cutest tank tops (White & Black Market brand), t shirt, sweater and TOMS shoes at HEP! I got a cute sound dinosaur book and Melissa & Doug icecream playset for my children! I also got a really cute anchor decor sign for my living room! There have been so many noticeable positive changes since we have last visited! It is brighter, cleaner, smells nicer, cuter decor with the metal and HOPE wall and overall just better inventory for super low prices! If you havent checked it out- do it soon!!

I come here for furniture and appliances. They have decent prices and weekly sales. Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly.

USED to be a great little thrift. Then some expert came in, rearranged it and ruined it. Awkward spool tables male it impossible to maneuver around to see items. Bad enough but then they block them off with items like bikes. USED to spend a couple hundred a month. Wont be back.

I completely agree with the previous comments addressing over pricing. I hope someone there realizes customers may decide not to purchase even if the cause is noble. If the inventory collects dust rather than revenue, the goal is defeated and no one benefits.

Clean, but way to overpriced. Wanted $20 for a heavily used pair of heels not even name brand. If that gives you a idea.

This is one of the best Thrift stores Ive been in around Pinellas. It has plenty of space and stuff to look at. The staff is friendly and everything is reasonably priced.

There is a large variety of items. The store is clean and well organized. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The prices are spot on!!

Theres always something new and fresh the service is outstanding and you proceeds go to for good cause. You can make a difference its good therapy go in relax its like a scavenger hunt you never know what youre going to find mostly everything is brand names at some point would you purchase for a little of nothing cost top dollar similar to shopping at Ross. Not only do they have a wide range of ladies apparel but they also have mens apparel childrens furniture housewares you never know what youre going to find there and the deals are endless check them out so nice way to spend an afternoon.

I am always donating as it helps out the homeless. And whenever I donate I will always go and look around and always leave with something. Not a lot of help there. But the gentleman that accept your donations is a fabulous man and always very very helpful and getting your goods out of your car to donate. They take large and small items furniture to clothing. They also will do pick-ups of large items just schedule it. I enjoy helping those who cannot help themselves.

I have bought several things in here from clothing to small appliances to furniture, and I have always been more than satisfied. The whole store is clean, smells good (not that moldy) smell, as you would find in alot of other thrift stores. They take in quality items, not junk. Some people might think that their items are pricey, but I personally would rather spend a bit more and get quality items. The staff is very helpful and friendly. If this what you are looking for, then, stop in and take a look.

Well stocked with furniture and clothing but get some more carts for petesake! The store is excellent overall, but I have to think twice about coming here because the lack of shopping carts and baskets make shopping an awkward experience if you want to buy more than a couple of things. Please get more shopping carts!!

The best

I have been coming here for years, but the prices are going up and up lately. I went their last week and asked the price for a throw pillow and a throw blanket for my couch. Well i was surprised 6.50 for the pillow and 8.50 for the blanket. Wow i thought i better go to walmart for those prices. I also had three people come up to me in the store and say do you believe some of these prices. Its sad, since proceeds go to the vets and now with higher prices, less will be sold. Its a thirft store not an up scale boutique. Please reevaluate your current management. Its wonderful everyone wants to be a rock star but not at the expeince our vets.

This big local thrift store has variation of items also sells different and new items everyday for the public. Prices are very reasonable compare other thrift shops not only, theres daily specials for more savings.

HEP does so much good for the homeless population in Pinellas County. The store is always well organized. The staff are mainly volunteers but they are always kind.

Very clean and not smelly. They don’t have a lot of clothing but that’s what I like about it. Lots of knick knacks and trinkets. The guy at the counter was helpful and chatty.

This is the place where you you get friendly service and great discounts and rhey have everything.I have bought most of my clothes from there and I love what I have.There are some nice ladies there who will help you find exactly what youre looking for.

I would describe it as nice. Not a very wide selection of clothes - went for pants and sunglasses, left with nothing. There were only 11 pairs of black pants in size 14, which is really not much at all for a clothes-advertising thrift store. The people are all very nice, but theyre more about antiques and $300 couches than cheap used things. No cheap dishes, only fine china. They do pick stuff up, and deliver furniture if you need...for $35 regardless of distance. Everythings too expensive IMHO.

One of the very Worst thrift stores that I have Ever been to. They sell smelly clothes and stinky couches that smell like an ash tray and the employee/obvious crack cashier addict steal from their customers by setting aside items for themselves for them to take home later. The employees are unfriendly and unhelpful. HEP Hurts should be this organizations motto!
