If youre ever looking for the customer service that has become a thing of the past go into any of the Ace hardware stores in the area. Especially the Hyde Park and the mariemont locations. I couldnt have asked for better help and more friendly service. this is what I remembered back in the day instead of the big box stores who give you the big box store attitude and customer help. The staff is helpful and they have everything that you need. Pricing is competitive with the big box places.IMPORTANT: if you are looking for topsoil or potting soil, don’t worry if it is not out in front of the store on a pallet —— they always have it around back. Just ask at the front counter - they will even load it for you. I did not discover this until I had been shopping here for six years.

More aptly described as a hardware boutique rather than store. Their inventory is limited to a sample representation of a few items and their prices are anything but competitive. Safe place for matrons and airheads.

Converting the lighting fixture on an old home to a ceiling fan was giving me a terrible time. I had already gone to Lowes and purchased an adapter kit for the ceiling fan but the nuts that came with it were not the correct size for my circa 1920s electrical connection (center screw type with a downspout for a gas hookup). I had all but given up until I met Patrick. This guy is a real ace (sorry, had to), not going to lie, he made my day because without him I would have wasted my entire day trying to cobble something together.Patrick was super knowledgeable (he pointed out that the center screw in the fixture was most likely gas piping in the first place). From there he tried out a few different options with me until we found a kit with the right equipment for my job. I took everything home and the install took two seconds. I know this sounds like an ad, but thats how pleased I am. Cheers Patrick, keep doing what you do!

Nothing to special. Small location and the prices were higher than what I typically paid at Lowes, but it was convenient to me on that day. But I will stick with Lowes.

Ace is the Place! I always visited the big box home improvement stores like Lowes and Home Depot for both selection & pricing. Once, I needed a male-to-male brass connector to fit between a water supply hose and irrigation timer for window boxes. Unfortunately, both devices had a different threads-per-inch opening. Rather than drive 4 miles each way to the Lowes or Home Depot, I tried Ace Hardware in Hyde Park Plaza, much closer to our home.We were pleasingly surprised when an Ace manager (Patrick) greeted us upon entering the store and offered assistance. After looking at my water timer, he knew exactly what I needed and took me directly to the brass connectors. Patrick also recommended using pipe dope on both threads. Since I had no more, we purchased a small tube. When I returned home, we installed the connector and applied pipe dope on both ends. After turning on the water supply, not a drop leaked.A few days later, my wife needed some anti-deer spray and planned to visit Lowes. We like deer except when they eat our hostas down to the ground. I suggested we both drive to Ace while running errands. Once we entered Ace, we were again greeted by an associate who asked if we needed assistance, and then pointed us to the deer spray. We noticed a display for the Big Green Egg. We purchased ours back in 2005, but needed a new nest as the original nest frame was designed too small for the weight of the egg, and the wheels were too small and had rusted. Since I had been price shopping these parts, I knew who had the lowest prices.I did a double-take when I saw prices that Ace advertised, since their prices were considerably lower than Amazon and local retailers. Since they didnt have a large nest in stock, Patrick ordered a few and said he would call us. He confirmed the prices, then called his Green Egg distributor and ordered a few nests and other accessories. A few days later, Patrick called us. We purchased a new large nest, handler, seal, and new cover to fit over the Green Egg, nest, and handler. Although the handler at Ace was still lower than other retailers, the price was about $10 more than what Patrick quoted us, yet he honored his quoted price. When we returned home, we dismantled and cleaned our egg, installed the new seal, handler, and a new cover. Our shiny Big Green Egg looks as new as the day we purchased it in 2005 and is much easier to maneuver over our cobblestone drive.SUGGESTION:If your egg is already in its location for use, you wont need a handler. However, if you move your egg each time its used, invest in the handler which is bolted to the nest frame. Use the lid handle only for raising & lowering the lid. Using the lid handle for moving the egg can damage the hinges connecting the lid to the lower part of the egg, and may alter the alignment and seal between the two sections. Also, the older Egg covers may not fit over the Egg with the new handler. However, if you are replacing the Egg cover, it will fit over the Egg and handler, so there’s no need to upsize the cover. I also added two side shelves which fit. (i.e. if you have a LARGE Egg and handler, you only need a new LARGE cover. I would encourage you to price shop Big Green Egg and accessories at Ace. BTW, I have no affiliation to Ace Hardware, Big Green Egg, or their employees.Ace Hardware in Hyde Park Plaza has convenient parking. Every associate and manager we have encountered is helpful, friendly, and always wears a smile. We also noticed that many products carried by Ace are “Made in the USA” and cost less than comparable foreign made products. We seldom visit Lowes and Home Depot unless Ace doesnt have what we need. Fortunately, that doesnt occur very often.Sign up for Ace Rewards. Periodically, we receive “$5 dollars off any purchase” coupons. Ace reminds me of the old time hardware store when I was a kid back in the 70’s. We recommend you try Ace Hardware in Hyde Park Plaza the next time you’re planning to visit another big box home improvement store.

I went in to get a house key of mine copied for my son and when I went to get some popcorn this older woman working at the store started giving me lip about taking two bags. It’s FREE POPCORN!!! She just came up to me saying how it’s for everybody and how I was being greedy! I was a paying customer and she had no right to act like I was a common criminal for wanting to take advantage of the free popcorn. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!
