Great store and very helpful! I met with Scott and showed him my wifes wedding ring that needed to be repaired. It had to be cut off and well, lets just say it was a mess. Cant say enough good things about our experience with Scott Reising Jewelers. Ill tell our story since its a but unique and highlights the service that separates them from others.Last year my wife and I moved from Philly to Cinci. We were in town about 3 months before moving here (and about 2 months before our wedding) to house/apartment hunt. Wed been fairly busy up until then and hadnt gotten our wedding bands yet (oops). After going to the bigger name jewelry stores I decided to got to Scott Reising and I had a much better experience. When I went to the bigger places they showed me bands to choose from but they did not show me one diamond. My first experience at Reising I talked with Pam and she showed me nothing but diamonds. She educated me on the different colors and clarities. She even gave me prices! Went to Scott to evaluate a diamond my girlfriend had received as a family heirloom. It had a chip on one of the sides and several people told us it could not be reset. Scott not only reset the diamond but he did it in a way so that you couldnt see the chip at all by covering it with a prong. The new setting he helped me pick out was a true work of art. It was a platinum hand engraved setting with three yellow diamonds on each side and he gave me an amazing price for it. My now Fiancé has done nothing but stare at it for the last couple weeks. I cant tell you how many people have said this is the prettiest ring theyve ever seen. I will definitely be going back to Scott again in the future. He was straight forward and honest. After a drawn-out design process with our original jeweler, the finished product was not what we had hoped (we didnt know so beforehand because he kept saying that the finished product would look significantly different than the renderings and/or wax models). So, weve now decided to try to find another talented, artistic jeweler to give us a second opinion.Scott and company clearly have no interest in our business or giving us a second opinion and were icky and dishonest as they tried to shoo us out the door. We arrived at Scotts ready with our ring, our original inspiration photos, and 3 new/simpler designs that we were entertaining. My best guess is that Scott pegged us as high-maintenance clients and as clients with no interest in buying anything expensive from him (since we already have our diamond) and immediately started working us out the door with a routine that seemed well practiced. He repeated himself awkwardly, talking about how we should force our original jeweler to do the job correctly despite me repeatedly saying we believe him to be incapable. When I asked for more info and to understand his thought process and why he seemed unwilling to work with us, he just repeated himself again. His responses to my questions were not logical and showed an uncaring/disinterested attitude toward us. After awkwardly answering a couple of my questions and rambling on about what he considered to be his philosophy toward business (force the other guy to do it), he cut me off mid question, said he was in the middle of something, and scampered back into his office. His staff member, clearly with strict instructions to not even entertain working with us, was left continuing Scotts line of dishonesty after he escaped.Scott is seemingly not excited about the prospect of designing jewelry or working on difficult projects. We were excited to meet with him because he seemed capable, but he seems to have no love of the art of jewelry or hunger for a challenge (at least the original jeweler had both of those qualities). This was a cold, calculated business decision followed up with a politician-like refusal to be honest. Maybe you say well, hes got a business to run, but I want to go to a jeweler who loves his craft and is excited about an artistic challenge, and thats not what I see from Scott. Maybe he does a great job at some things (all of these happy reviews confuse me), but if you have an uncommon or difficult situation, watch out.Scott, if youre reading this, all you had to do was be honest with us about your motivations/thoughts, as I asked you to be, and we would not have been so offended. That was a strange and icky experience. I see that you respond to Google reviews, and particularly try to undermine or invalidate the experiences of dissatisfied customers. I cringe to think of how you might try to portray this as a misunderstanding as you have with others who have felt uncomfortable working with you... Had a less than pleasant experience here at the shop. I was shopping around for an engagement ring for my girlfriend and saw the enormously positive reviews for this place so I thought I would check it out. The lady was nice and easy to talk to but I had a clear price range in mind and clearly communicated it to her. Despite this, throughout the process, she consistently brought out loose diamonds well over twice my budget for me to look at and compare. Obviously, diamonds that cost twice as much will be much prettier. It was quite rude to bring out diamonds and rings that were obviously unaffordable to me in an effort to try and get me to go outside my price range. In addition, when rings and diamonds were brought out, she was incredibly evasive about any specified price and would only say they were closer to the $5-$6k range or these are in the $7-$9 range!!!After I left, I received numerous calls over the next few weeks trying to get me to come back into the store telling me, We had some really great princess cuts recently come in with some great deals!.Avoid this place if you want to deal with an honest business!

He was very helpful and asked all of the right questions to help me figure out what I was looking for. Once the ring was complete I couldnt believe how great it turned out. In response to the owners response:Again, I am disappointed in this businesses unprofessionalism. Just because your sales clerk couldnt identify the center stone does not mean it was fake; and now Im offended. This ring was constructed in 1930 of platinum gold and very high quality diamonds, which was confirmed when I had the ring appraised in 2013, and Id find it hard to believe they would just throw a fake stone in there. To be clear, I did not have the center stone sent out for testing, but I cant believe that you would just say it was fake to make an excuse for your turning away business. Awesome experience! I got my fiancees engagement ring here and Pam was very helpful in walking me through the process, showing me options and letting me make a decision I was comfortable with. The ring came out absolutely beautiful and we couldnt be happier with the results. This is the only store I visited and only did comparison shopping online. The price is probably a little higher than online or at cheaper chain stores, but you cant match the quality of personal service you receive here and for such a big purchase, that meant a lot to me.Edit- now that we’ve finally been married figured I’d come back to say we’ve continued to receive the same great service for the past two years on the wedding band and other jewelry items as well. Scott Reising Jewelers is very conveniently located on Edwards Rd. in Hyde Park square. I went in to have links removed from my watch, and they were very friendly, courteous, and helpful. They had a very quick turnaround time on fixing the watch, and I was able to pick it up the next day. Overall, my experience was excellent, and I will definitely go back for any further jeweler needs.

I recently had an antique platinum ring resized down over three sizes at Scott Reising Jewelers, and I couldnt be happier with the result. I still cant believe that my ring resizing saga has had a happy ending!The friendly professionalism of everyone I interacted with made the whole experience a positive one, and the ring is in excellent shape, without any buckling or damage to the ornate front or the pattern on the back. A perfect fit without damage might sound like only what is to be expected, and indeed, if I had taken the ring there to begin with, I would not have realized that resizing this particular ring so much was particularly challenging.However, at other jewelers I visited, the responses I got ranged from We wont touch this to It may/will buckle and Would you consider wearing it on your middle finger? (so as not to have to resize it down so far). It was suggested that I take the diamond out and use it in a completely different setting. I was informed that I would probably lose the pattern on the back of the ring and would have to sign a release should the ring be damaged. I could not get a clear estimate on the cost of even a one size down resizing without leaving the ring. Internet research confirmed that the material and the significance of the size reduction made this job challenging, and I began to think that I would not be able to wear the ring at all.Scott examined the ring right at the counter, assured me that he could do the job, and gave me an eminently reasonable estimate. He also told me that the pattern would not be lost during the resizing process. I especially appreciate that he took the time to reassure me, as by this time I was worried that what he was saying was simply too good to be true.I got the call saying the ring was ready sooner than I dared to expect, and I have already received many compliments on my lovely antique ring.Misc. I was hopeful when I got off the phone with Pamela. She said that they do a lot of custom work and that it was fine for me to bring in a new engagement ring that I wanted to make some changes to. We agreed to meet in the morning and she knew Id be driving across town to be there. My fiancee and I were on time to their store. We were dressed nicely and I brought my four carat diamond ring that I wanted their help with.My first impression when walking in their store was that their items were unique and well crafted. That they worked in higher end stuff. This made me even more hopeful about the work we could do together.However, when Pamela started helping me in the store she became a bit impatient with me. She was trying to push me into one decision or another as quickly as possible without giving me space to talk through the pros and cons with her. I wanted her honest help in problem solving and she didnt seem interested. This was worrisome. She then quickly went back to Scott in the back of the store with my ring.Scott then came out to meet us and I was excited to meet him. However very quickly he refused to do the work for us. He said his refusal was out of principle, which sounded like a load of crap. He said that we needed to FORCE our previous jeweler to remake the design, even though we had met with him probably 8-9 times and dont think he has the skill to do the job. We expressed that it looked as if Scott had the skill. We explained that we were very eager to work with them (Scott and Pamela). Scott just kept repeating over and over just make him (the previous jeweler) do it. Scotts rigidity and lack of elaboration was harsh. It reminded me of a child being told directions sternly by a frustrated parent.As you can imagine, all of this lead to a few awkward silences. I started to realize that these people did not care about us, had made up their minds that we were not worth their time, and that they were doing everything in their power to make us uncomfortable and leave. I started looking down at the floor and falling silent because I felt powerless. Meanwhile my fiancee was trying hard to change their minds. Scott then excused himself abruptly because he was in the middle of something and left for the back never to return.We tried to better understand more why they didnt want to work with us, but Pamela wouldnt be honest either. They were full of excuses, and principles. Pamela said that they work from the beginning with designs, they dont like to start with one thats already in the works. I asked, so if we came with just the stone would Scott have worked with us? She said no. I then asked so we would have had to buy the stone from you guys in order for Scott to work with us? Her response No, no, no! I didnt say that! Yesterday I had told her on the phone that I already had the engagement ring and stone from else where. Why didnt she mention these confusing policies earlier? Pamela then went on about how back logged they are on custom work. The same custom work she was bragging to us about when we first walked in.I have a four carat engagement diamond, we dressed nicely, we were polite and articulate. Even the snootiest of places I thought would at least act interested in us. However, Scott Reising was not. I guess he wants to make big expensive sales QUICKLY. Anything that takes time, building rapport, or working through ideas together is probably seen as a waste of his time. Pamela wasnt as offensive, but she seemed very driven to do Scotts bidding and was desperate to say anything to make sure things went his way. Even if that meant lying. Its the dishonesty from both of them that drove me to post this! If they think were asking for too much or are too indecisive then say that. Give us the reality check. Given the other positive reviews, maybe theyll be nice to you if youre a quick easy sale. However, if you want to talk through things and get some advice beware! If youre picky beware! It is likely that they only have patience for the very wealthy of Hyde Park.

Scott Reising is not only a Graduate Gemologist, but also an extraordinary detective, who solved a decade old family mystery regarding a ring my grandmother had given me. I had assumed the stone set in the ring was an amethyst. When I had taken the ring to another jeweler to have the stone set in a necklace, the gemologist at that location advised that the stone may well be an alexandrite worth thousands of dollars, but that they were not qualified to make that determination. So the treasure hunt was on to find a gemologist that had the expertise to make the determination. That is when I found Scott Reising and his staff. I had walked past their location many times in Hyde Park Square, over the course of the last ten years, but never ventured in, until January 4th of this year. The staff was very welcoming and showed me around while Scott did the assessment on the ring. Many of their pieces are custom designed based on a customers request, and the artistry is magnificent. After less than fifteen minutes, Scott had determined that the stone was not an amethyst, nor an alexandrite, but a sapphire mimicking an alexandrite. He even explained to me how it was made, which unfortunately I do not remember the details. Although the ring did not turn out to be worth thousands of dollars, it is still priceless to me because it was my grandmothers. Thanks to Scott and his staff for helping me solve a family mystery. So if you have a family mystery that needs to be solved, give Scott Reising Jewelers a call. You will not be disappointed.

Recently, I needed my antique engagement ring resized from a 7 to a 5. My engagement ring was my great-grandmother’s and is a delicate setting. I took the ring to Scott Reising Jewelers and met with Scott about the resizing. He took his time asking me about the ring including any other work that had been done on the ring. As we discussed the resizing, he informed me about the resizing process and how resizing my ring could have potential issues, since the ring is an antique and had some damage. I appreciated Scott providing me with education and information about the ring and allowing me to make the decision if I, as the customer, wanted the ring resized with the potential that it may not work. Not only was Scott able to size the ring, but he also beat his 10 day timeframe and I had my ring back within a week. The cost for the resizing was very reasonable, especially given that it is an antique ring. The ring is beautiful and I cannot thank Scott and Pam enough for taking care of my ring. I highly recommend Scott Reising Jewelers and will be going back to have them make my husband’s and my wedding rings!

Scott Reising was by far the most helpful jeweler I experienced during my search for an engagement ring. When I first started my search, Scott gave me a great lesson on the characteristics of a diamond of which I knew absolutely nothing about. I visited 5 different jewelers and was seriously considering purchasing the engagement ring from 3 of those jewelers. After meeting Scott for the first time, he told me to check back with him before making any purchases and I am very happy that I did. He took time out of his personal vacation to answer my emails and help me with any questions that I had. All of the other stores that I looked at said they were giving me special discounts (i.e. employee discounts, personal friend of my family) and Scott Reising Jewelers still beat all of those prices and offered a nicer diamond. Scott is a straight-shooter who will tell you the facts and give you his honest opinion. He went out of his way to find the perfect ring for me even though he did not have any previous experience dealing with the ring setting manufacturer. I highly recommend before you purchase a ring in the Cincinnati area to at least go in to see Scott to see what he has to offer. He also specializes in custom-made jewelery. Most importantly, my girlfriend, now fiancée, loves the ring.

I cannot sing Scott Reisings praises enough! Both my fiancé and I took our rings in to be sized and repaired since they were vintage pieces. I had already had my engagement ring reinforced and sized by another jeweler, who completely botched it and it looked just awful! Scott Reising did fantastic work to fix the botched job and really made it look like new. My fiancés ring was worn and completely bent out of shape. It looked like an entirely different ring (for the better!) when Mr. Reising presented the finished product to us. We were thrilled beyond measure. He was friendly, courteous and honest, as well as the rest of the staff. I will definitely be returning in the future!
