Took my son in here to get advice on a good RC car for him to upgrade to from a toy RC car purchased online. Tony was VERY helpful and honest. I have zero knowledge of RC cars and had a lot of questions and he answered them all and helped us pick out an RC truck. Im sure you can get better prices online but we walked out of the store with a much better understanding of what we had just bought. Thats well worth a bump in price in my book.
Horrible customer service. They sold my husband a truck, did not come with battery pack. Fine, that is pretty common. I returned to purchase the battery pack, a rude young lady not only informed that she had never seen the truck we purchased there, she refused to help find the correct battery pack. She was highly annoyed with a fact that a customer asked for help finding something. All she could do was to send me in a vague direction of “the back.” Will not be coming back. A quick drive to Hobby Express in Loveland is a much better option, there associate helped me out with no problem.
Built-in to a friendly environment. The store is organized and have almost anything you could want for the RC hobbyist and a bit beyond. I didnt catch the gentlemans name at the back to counter but he was very informative and helpful when I asked. Would have given five out of five stars but they didnt carry anything from DJI anymore. Thats not a remark to bash them, as I completely understand why they dont.
My dad takes me there over time to get rc parts and the staff are really friendly
It was great. That was the 1st time i been there. There was not a lot of old trains there.
Picked up a Slash 2wd for my boys and myself. I had an amazing experience. Very knowledgeable staff and great deals. Thank You Hobbytown m!!!!
I went here a week ago with my 7 year old son to spend his Christmas money. I asked about an rc truck as to whether it was a truck that when he broke it I could get parts to fix it, I was told that yes they stocked parts for it. He broke it on the second day, as expected. when I started looking for parts I found out that this particular truck was discontinued 2 years ago and that finding parts is determined by if a store has any left over parts from that line. I will never trust this store to help me in future buying decisions. Luck had it that the part that I needed was actually something that they still had, I called them at 4:00 on Sunday and was told that they had the part. They close at 5:00, I got there at 4:30 ad they had closed early. A heads up about closing early would have been appreciated, the half hour drive one way is a reason that I dont shop there more often in the first place. I really do appreciate the store and its variety of items, I try to support brick and mortar stores because I enjoy the shopping experience. When I get experiences like this it makes me want to just buy online. Some of your items have set pricing by the manufacturer so those prices are the same, the ones that arent set like that can usually be found cheaper. I worked in retail for 20 years I always bent over backwards to give my customers the best experience possible, even if I didnt make any money from them that day, I always wanted to make sure that they had no reasons to not come back. I also noticed that when I showed up at the store that I wasnt the only one who wanted to come to your store, who knows how much money may have been lost from the other potential customers that day, my purchase would not have been a very large one, however I have been Flying RC planes for years and started playing with trucks recently. Now that my son is almost 8 and is ready to start playing with hobby grade toys I will most likely be spending a lot of money both for him and myself so we can enjoy the hobby together.
Very fun place to go for everyone in the family.. Staff is really nice and fun to be around...
Just left this place more than disappointed. Was fully ready to drop hundreds of dollars on a gas or nitro powered airplane. There were two employees working in this section of the store neither of which would even acknowledge my existence in their section let alone the store. You might say why not ask them for assistance? What kind of customer service do you think Im going to get if I have to put them out by making them interact with me? Waste of a 30-minute drive.
Always great always helpful if they dont got it they will order it
A lot to choose from,But dont always have what you need..👌
Went in here looking for advice a while back. Came back in for the knowledge and service. Richard and Tony are both very versed in RC Cars and trucks. both have tons of experience. Almost always have parts needed, in stock. All of the staff is very friendly. Greeted and joked about with how much I am in there. But always a great experience!!
The shelves were kind of bare when it came to HG Gundam kits. It was majority SD kits in terms of Gundam. But I still found some fun sets and accessories. The staff was mostly very friendly. I will definitely be back
Great selection of paints! Acrylic and enamel
I try supporting local business but i got a rather cold response when i asked about a rc car part. go buy it amazon the clerk said. not helpful and non-apologetic. i went out of my way to visit. probably wont do that anymore.
Very friendly staff and nice selection of items
This is my local game store so I wish I had nicer things to say. They seem to be great for RC cars and train enthusiasts. But if you want to play board games, D&D, or Warhammer 40k the selection and pricing is abysmal. The staff has gotten more rude and dismissive over the past year; the girl at the front sits on her phone and ignores customers. The owner hides in the back with the RC cars. Wish there was something better within 40 minutes of me.
I went to this store today March15 2021 at 1:15pm to purchase a RC car 🚗. I waited my turn, my turn turned out to be a 30 minute wait only for another customer to get service before me. As you know by now I am a african man. I was going to spend a nice amount of money. They will never get my service in life!
Tony and Richard have a vast knowledge of Radio control hobbies and they both are great people to deal with. As a returning customer the only thing i wish that could be implemented would be a online inventory of On hand spare parts with shipping.Great service and availability of parts and kits makes me very happy to keep returning there.
Everthing was more expensive than you can find it on ebay/amazon and just kind of rude.
If youre into model trains, Tony can answer questions, make recommendations, etc. All kinds of other hobbies and work materials as well.
Ive been in several times, and have always had a positive experience. Today for example; I went in to find a certain Traxxas part. Due to Covid-19, it seems, lately parts have been a little scarce. Richard had let me know that they had an order come in from Traxxas, and he dug through about 2 or 3 boxes FULL of random parts until he found exactly what I needed. I let him know several times that it was not an issue, and that I can come back tomorrow when the items are stocked on the shelf, but he insisted. 100% would recommend this HobbyTown location. Great selection for any hobby. Great conversation, and great staff.
Horrible customer service. There are rude to there customers. I recommend Hobby express.
Excellent hobby shop with friendly service. They didnt have what I wanted in stock and ordered for the next day. Thanks!
Love this shop found my stickers
I have purchased items from this store and never had an issue. Visited this store last week and was told something would be in stock at a later date. Went by the store at the recommended date and was treated with an attitude about the item because they were still working on the shippment. Called 2 hours later and the same person simply said it was not in stock without checking. Just nope, not in stock. I understand people having a bad day but this person was rude, short and made no effort to provide customer service. Went to another location in Loveland that took the time to provide service and a friendly attitude. Looks like they lost a customer because of a bad apple. To be clear it was not the manager that has always treated me well or the cashier.
They are not cheap go to the one in dayton its worth the drive you can save alot of money there i drove down there just to look and they want way more money there for stuff like ho cars a 32 doller slot car in dayton and 45 rcs are 30 or 40 more expensive
Richard and the staff are fantastic! He performed a miracle finding parts in-house to repair my old RC truck. Best hobby shop Ive been to in forever.
Great place to get stuff to put together and enjoy with your friends and family
I came in for a traxxas xmaxx and the gentleman that helped me was very knowledgeable and gave me some great tips to get it up and running safely. The store was clean and organized and the cashier even helped me load my items in my truck. I will absolutely be back for more R/C parts accessories and kits.
I would not recommend this hobby shop the staff there is very rude and short with you . My husband had asked them a question about his rc truck and it’s like he didn’t want to help him or at least show him parts that he had in stock . I will go back to the other hobby shop in Miamisburg and there staff there is very helpful. So don’t waste your time or money at hobby town USA go to the Hobby shop in miamisburg for business . ✌🏻
Great staff. Great selection.
Great gundam selection cnd the staff was super friendly and very helpful! We cant wait to come back!
Excellent selection, but when you asked them a question, I got, I dont know from 3 different employees
Excellent customer service and so much inventory!
They were very helpful we met the owner Greg guy everythings going smooth are very helpful and prices are very reasonable
RC, games and more oh my. Place is a fantasy land. Prices are great. Selection of model train and miniatures are awesome.
Great place . Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great selection! Went for model trains. They have multiple scale sizes! Pricing is anywhere from $8 all the way to hundreds for train cars so ANY price point your looking for they carry, Which is awesome!!! I dint collect t trains but my friend loved the o es I got from them & said the quality was great.
Wasnt the best experience but they did have what I needed people who work there are knowledgeable place kind of cluttered hard to get help sometimes
Very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and varied supplies.
Nice display of merchandise but employees werent very helpful.
Plastic models, die cast r/c and more
Usually have a really good experience here, however I recently bought an Age of Sigmar start collecting for Greywater Fastness and it was missing the sprue for the gyrobomber, which on its own is $40-$50.
They never have anything in stock
Good selection. You girl at register has zero customer service skills. No eye contact, rude, doesn’t want to be there. Find someone better!
Very rude over the phone for just asking a couple simple questions.
As a novice, I was very impressed with theyre honesty, knowledge, an professional courtesy, the sales reps were eager to display
First visit there. They have a helpful manager. Seem to have a nice selection of things.
Me and my family used a nearby cart from another store to push my year old son in this store since we were doing shopping in the plaza vs carrying him from place to place. The female cashier began to harass me and family for using a nearby stores cart immediately accusing us that we would not put the cart back when we were finished using it.Walking throughout the store I over heard the same female cashier complaining to her manager that we needed to be watched because she is afraid we will steal something.I will never again support this business and will take my money somewhere else for this type of harassment and accusations that never took place or would have.End result: despite losing my business after leaving this store, the cart still ended up back at the original store where it came from.
Friendly helpful staff. And Tony is great with RC Car info.
My husband and father in-law cant get enough of this this store
Amazing place to get just about anything you need for a Traxxas. Knowledgeable and friendly staff who can answer any questions you may have and point you in the right direction. My son loves going here and looking at all of the various bits and bobs he can get for his car!
Helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They wont sell you anything you dont want or need and if something goes wrong they make it right.
Great store! I had to replace a battery for an RC boat my son inherited and they took the time to test the battery as well as the charger so that we knew exactly why the battery wasn’t charging and only sold me what I need. The prices were similar if not better than what I saw on Amazon when I was researching the issue.I was only there for a short time but the selection for “hobby” related things was overwhelming. I will definitely go back if I ever needed anything related to tinkering hobbies.
Not to far away,great service,great prices.👍💕🇱🇷
What a hobby shop should be. Very helpful.
Fascinating place. Train enthusiasts delight. Has someone to fix model trains. Also has great selection of Melissa and Doug toys.
Good model railroad store for scenery, paint and tools. Also good rolling stock and building selection. Wish they had more locomotives and knowledgeable staff. Staff seems more into RC stuff.
All the fun stuff.
HobbyTown and Tony is awesome. I bought my first Nitro car here and after spending the time to get it charged up, I broke the handle off the pull start from excess force (It’s not a lawn mower haha).HobbyTown didn’t have my style pull start due to a change in design but Tony helped me out majorly and rewound the the pull start mechanism that I broke and fixed me up to be able to run it the same day (Which was greatly appreciated because all I wanted to do was to drive it a little bit before the start of a new work week). Thanks guys, I love my new rig!!!
Best hobby shop in Cincinnati. Every tool, brush, or paint for every type of modeling your into. Best Balsa, and plastruct supply in the area.
Awful asked questions look at u and ignore u 50 cent machine takes money ignore u about that everything is twice as much as any other store or online but overall it was terrible customer service avoid at all cost
Its awesome I went there for track and stuff like that and got everything I needed.
Fair prices and were super helpful and patient with all my questions. Will definitely be back!
We were greeted by a rude worker who asked we are masks were while she was wearing hers improperly! Lol just as easy to order from a online store and save a buck.
Locally owned franchised hobby shop, with enthusiastic employees. Most of the employees are enthusiasts in a particular hobby; mostly RC, but Ive talked to the rail guy who was really knowledgeable about model trains. And they host role, playing sessions in-store!A great place to find stuff youve never seen before. Join their shoppers club for modest savings.
I took my eight year old grandson to this store to see if they had a pin to fix his RC vehicle. Neither of the workers were helpful. The person at the parts counter was not helpful in the least, nor was he friendly. We left this store and went to a hobby store in Loveland. There we were treated kindly, and my grandsons RC vehicle was repaired while we waited. We will not be returning to HobbyTown. I wish I could give 0 stars.
The selection at this store is fantastic. The time the staff takes out of their day to help you is amazing. I would recommend anyone that is interested in RC cars/ RC planes and trains to go there. Plenty of kid toys for the younger ones. Overall a great friendly place for. Great Staff.
Knowledgeable staff, good selection, great customer service. I highly recommend this place
Staff is wonderful. Best section of models I have seen anywhere. 1 thing I have a problem with is not enough aftermarket detail products in the shelves. Great paint selection and all around wonderful experience. I always go back when I get a chance or Im ever up that way
If you live in the Cincinnati area, this is really the only viable choice for a model train store. They have the best selection and carry most basic things - like paint, styrene, and glue. They have a pretty good N and HO scale selection - O not so much. Half the store is RC. The prices are a bit on the high side. However, the staff, especially Tony, is very knowledgeable and will get you what you need within the week - that is if it can be gotten.
Best hobby shop in and near Mason. From the outside signage, youd think they were all about R/C but inside is everything! They have a great selection of model railroad equipment (track, locos, rolling stock, etc.) as well as all the paints, hydrocal/plaster, structures, molds, accessories, and ballast/gravel/static grass needed for building a layout.
Lots of fun toy for the kids
Awesome store with tons of things to nerd out on
Although this store does have a huge selection of product, the staff was not going out of their way to help me . As a novice, I thought they would at least give the time of day . I was told by the salesman that if I needed help I should go to the internet . Perhaps I could also find my supplies there ...?
Ive been going to this store for years and I have never been disappointed. The guys here are great. All of them are very knowledgeable and if they dont know it off the top of their head, they can tell you were to find out the information you need. If they dont have a part or kit you need, theyll special order it.
Always extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are usually better than online, so, support the local brick and mortar HS and maybe find another thing to enjoy while you are there.
Best hobby shop in the cincinnattii area. I live 2hrs away in Indiana and Ill only do business there. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff with a huge selection of products. If I didnt know something theres always someone to teach me what I need to know and give me ideas where to start and the pricing on things is unbeatable. Highly highly recommend to anyone who is into the r/c hobby.
Decent selection of plastic models. Good selection of paints and tools. Rockets, trains, RC planes, cars, and boats. Gaming figures and paints. One aisle of Radio Shack goods.
Best place Ive found in town for slot cars and rc cars.Edit: my son inherited some electric trains. He had some questions about getting them running again. We went to a local specialty train store and was told he had cheap trains and they didnt have time for him. We went to hobby town and they spent the time to answer all my sons questions and showed him what he needed. He is so excited to watch his grandpas trains run again after visiting hobby town. Thank you so much.
Insane selection of gundams and tools for the job. Love it. Friendly staff. Will be back
I arrived to find a birthday present for my son.I was on my home from out of state work. When I reached the door, I was dismissed due to not wearing a mask.I am medically unable to do so.I will take my money else where, thank you. wasting my time
I love my hobbies. They got everything for a gas powered remote control car
I have loved Everytime I have stepped foot in here always friendly and helpful staff
Well stocked store that is easy to get to. Prices are competitive with other stores. I tend to support brick and mortar hobby stores because of their rarity and immediate availability to products I might need.
I went for the RC, but there are allot of variety of hobbies, crafts and toys in here. Friendly staff and good stock of RC cars/trucks, some discountinued models as well. Well be back.
I get into some pretty quirky art projects, I go here for tools. They have tons of stuff I cant find anywhere else nearby. I love the model train stuff.
Now that RadioShack is gone this is the next best thing I love this place will be coming back
Great selection. Went in to buy my first gunpla. They gave me great advice, didnt oversell me with unnecessary expensive stuff. Ill definitely be going back.
I have been in that store three times now and all three times one member of their staff was rude and unfriendly... I gave them three chances thinking maybe they were just having bad days but I think thats just the staff attitude. I will stick with the other hobby shops from now on.
Super helpful staff. Brought in a team looking for drone build help and they took a long time explaining options and searching stock for just the right thing for my students.
Very knowledgeable staff for all your RC needs. They have always tried to help me find the most cost effective fix not into trying to get you to buy a bunch of parts you dont need. Its a place you can drop off your little brother with a broken rc go run errands and come back and he has the parts or they helped him fix it.
Awesome selection of electronic components
Go see Tony. He has more RC experience than anybody. Hes been doing it since the 80s. Very helpful and all knowing. Hobbytown is well stocked for all your needs!
Love this store.
Not just a hobby shop. They have STEM kits and other fun items for the whole family.
Great place with everything you can imagine with great help finding what you want 😉
