This place is dangerous (in a good way!) This has to be the biggest location I have been in. This means there is a lot of variety. They also have a section of board games. There is a unique section for antique books that I have not seen at other Half-Price Books. I would highly recommend this location. The only downside is the parking can be a little cramped.

Best Half Price Books location. Amazing selection, knowledgeable staff, and the books are quite literally half price. Its a weekly trip for me.

I needed a large print NIV Bible. They had it. HOORAY!

This used to be my favorite location but their prices are becoming absurd anymore. The clearance section isnt quite the bargain it was and, as an example, there was a Fleetwood Mac cassette tape I found (used) that had a $30 price tag on it. It goes for $15 online. In store finds are honestly supposed to be cheaper than online. If something isnt done about their pricing policies I fear they will slowly go out of business or sit on stale inventory due to the pricing practices.

Customer service was terrible. I called asking if they have some books in stock and the guy that answered said with such attitude soooo you basically want us to shop for you?, even though their website states to call and ask what books they have. The woman who answered at the beachmont store so was friendly and helpful. She looked up a ton books for me. Will never go Kenwood. Go to Beachmont as they are so helpful and friendly

I shop for used commentaries, and their prices are always way higher than anywhere else. They were asking $50 for a used book whose MSRP was $40, and which you could find online for $30 new. This is typical for HPB in my experience. Perhaps doubly-priced books would be a better name.

I just found them selling the recently released Department of Truth graphic compilation volume 1 for $15.99. Every comic book store in the area plus online are selling it for its cover price of $9.99. Between Past and Future by Hannah Arendt (Penguin Classics) was $15.99 for a marked up and highlighted copy while new copies are being sold online for the same price and used for half that. Ive found also that anything used with a big fan boi following tend to be sold for the price of what it is new. I get that they may have higher overhead costs by having their establishment well staffed, but Id hate to see a brick and mortar bookstore shoot itself in the foot by not competing well with competitors. I can still find good things there from time to time, but investigate prices before you buy.

I am always up for a visit to Half Price Books. Their selection is diverse and always fresh. The board game selection has grown over the years and is now a major draw for me.

Good selection, but Im a little miffed about how the paperbacks got more expensive than they used to be years ago.

I recently brought in some books to donate/sell. When I walked in to go to the buying counter, I was ignored by the person working behind it (even with visibility heavy books in my friends hand) and another associate had to come up to greet us.

Helpful staff and a huge selection of books. Its pretty well organized and clean. The parking lot is a little tight. Otherwise its a great place ti find that obscure book you have been searching for.

One of my favorite places in town. Great prices. Now the VHS tapes I used to get a couple of years ago for $ 0.25 are now $1.00. I know they still cheap but when I want to add books and cassette tapes, etc I can’t get as much as I used to.FYI public bathrooms are a bit far from the store yet in the same building. I always go with my child not comfortable letting him go by himself and the key for the women’s bathroom isn’t always available.

Ordered books online. Apparently it didnt go through. One man working there who apparently filled the orders was very rude, even though I said, no big deal, I will just grab them myself if you can point the way.

Very rude about face masks and health conditions. When you have a health condition where you literally cannot wear one. Told me I was welcome to shop elsewhere or just deal with wearing one. After being told I physically couldnt he brought me one trying to force me to wear it on my way back anyways, staying by my side like I was a shoplifter. Im sorry but Im not going to passout from a health condition to shop at your location. Most places understand health conditions. This place could care less. I will find a new place, I will add I am a loyal customer to this store. Never again even after the masks rule for their private store is over.

Good place to shop for a wide variety of books from kids to adults and everything in between. On this visit we were getting rid of books and videos and the clerk could have been nicer and more helpful. She seemed irritated (maybe by the amount of inventory we brought in cause she had to process all of it)if I could call it anything so minus a star ( she just gave off a bad vibe). Everything else was on point, great selection and variety. We were serviced in a reasonable amount of time.

This Half Price Books was great they have a great movie selection. Im definitely going back to the Kenwood location.

This marks the first business that refused to allow me inside even though I am medically exempt from the mask requirement. The store manager tried to schedule a private shopping time for me, but there are too many other places to take my business (I was shopping for used video games) that have no problem with my social distancing and medical mask exemption.

I love the idea behind this store - reselling used books as well as games, movies, records, new books, and much more. Overall, prices are reasonable, and its fun to browse because you never know what youll find! One potential downside of that variety is that youre not guaranteed that a store will have a particular item. Also, youre unlikely to make a lot of cash selling used books here (unless you have unique or high demand items, perhaps), but it is more than youd get if just donated or recycled them. All in all, Im a big fan!

Awesome place. They have books, CDs, movies, and other stuff. I found a few CDs that I have been l looking for for awhile now, and am really happy. My daughter walked out with some stuff too. So all in all a very good road trip stop.

Eh. Very surly employees who seem annoyed they have to have jobs and help people. It also seems they are now lowering their already rock bottom prices they are paying for media. I know you have to turn a profit on what you buy, but they do about 250 million $ a year in sales on stuff they pay next to nothing for already.All of this on top of a very dated store that never seems to have anything new (maybe everything decent they are sending to other locations?!?) and the experience is pretty lackluster.They have stuff but it’s a daily guess if it’s anything you would want.

We came to sell books and DVDs and got a fair price. Wish Id known about this place sooner - amazing selection of new and used books, also goodies like record players, games, puzzles, etc. Check here before buying anything new. Staff are polite and efficient, space is well-lit and clean.

Great experience if you are buying. Dont waste you time and energy if you are selling. A huge ripoff. Give you 5 cents and sell it for $10. Id donate to a worthy cause.

One of the best of the HPBs locations in the Greater Cincinnati area. Great selection that is very extensive. There is also a lot more space than other locations. The only drawback is the public bathroom is separate from the store.

Phenomenal Staff and Inventory

The staff is so nice and helpful. I’ve been going to this location for several years and it’s always a great experience. Lots of product to look through, but there’s always great deals. It’s very rare that I won’t find what I’m looking for.This is my first stop shop for gifts too! They have unique mugs, notebooks, magnets, puzzles, journals, board games and such. Great for stocking stuffers and stuff.

In one word... heaven. What I loved about half price book is its local look, great prices, and fantastic collection. My husband is an architect and he always enjoyed the books he found in art and design sections. Me? Well I am more of a fiction reader and I love walking through the aisles finding everything I want from the best ones.

The book I wanted was in the store and the cashier was very knowledgeable and place the item on hold for me. The research time was outstanding.

Customer service here is great. They always seem happy to help find a book or order it if they dont have it.Sometimes its a let down to hear how much they can offer for the cherished (only by me) books I just spent hours convincing myself I can part with, but I remind myself I wasnt getting anything for them on the shelf at home and exactly none of my friends or family had asked to borrow the book I got so much out of. So I try to accept the amount with whatever joy I can muster and hope that someone will enjoy the book and keep the cycle going. Its a good service HPB provides.

OMG! I love this place! I always find exactly what Im looking for, and leave with FAR more than I came for! And its THEIR fault for pricing the books so low! 😁The staff are very friendly, and can help you locate a book in minutes! They also have all kinds of super-cute accessories and gadgets. What is not to love in a book store. Add really excellent prices and helpful staff and you get even better. They also have really cool notecards, etc. at good prices. Plan to spend some time looking.

Great place to find books, games and other hidden gems for cheap. Just went there for fun and found 2 books i havnt been able to locate for years.

Amazing selection of used scifi hardcovers and paperbacks. Dont overlook the franchise section at the end for licensed books within a variety of TV/movie franchises (these titles are not arranged by author, as the rest of the scifi section is). Dont forget to check the old/rare section, too, which is probably in a separate area.

I love Half Price Books. Nicely located and great selection. Never had a bad experience here. Great prices. Its hard to leave with only one item because I always find more things I want.

I LOVE THIS STORE!!! The clerk in the back was super helpful. I somehow forgot the author of a book series. And she took the time to help me figure it out. There are so many authors it took quite a bit. But, she didnt seem to mind at all. Many of these stores have closed due to the internet. But, I love the feel of the pages as they slip past. She informed me that, if I called they would locate my books and have them sent there for FREE! I found exactly what I was looking for!;And some were even less than half off!

I love this store. It is warm and inviting and has space where kids are encouraged to flip through books and other items. Their prices are also much better than a full price retail book store and they have a variety of game and movie items, as well.

I dont live in Cincinnati but almost every time I visit I go to HPB. Theres everything from notebooks to calendars, from DVDs to Vinyl, and all types of books, for all ages. I never go here and leave empty handed. I also never leave with only one thing. Parking is easy and its located around several other shops and dinning.

Always a great place to find hidden gems at a discount price. My kids love it, and so do I.

Always worth swinging by if your in the area to check out whats been added to the shelves. Just dont think your gonna be given more than 10% of each books actual value (at most) of any books your trying to sell. Ive sold books here for $4 only to see it behind the counter for $75.

Sold some mags, videos, and books. I got a good price for all my stuff. Sad to see my stuff go, happy to know someone else will love them as much as I do. Plus the money makes the hurt feel a little less.

Half Price Books is a lovely, well-organized store. I love going there. It is SO nice to have this book store in our area. The staff is helpful, and the store is well managed. We are lucky to have Half Price books in the Cincinnatis area.

One of my favorite stores! They have great finds because you never know what folks might bring in from grandmas attic. Some of the older books, vinyl records, VHS tapes, comic books, and even 8 Trac tapes are fascinating to check out. Any book you want is significantly cheaper than at other book stores and the clearance section offers amazing deals!

A great place for teachers to find current titles for classroom libraries and of course for my own personal reading.

There is never a time when I cant find something awesome here. Clearance section always stacked with good finds. Book nerd employees super helpful too.

You can pick up great books at good prices. You can also unload books for not much money at all - but know they will get recycled at a decent price, so thats good.

I cant seem to walk out of any Half Price Books location without finding something to add to my book or dvd collection. Note to self, find some more bookshelves. Great prices on many items although on an occasional item they seem to be a little high when compared to online venues. This location is fairly spacious and has a lot of inventory although I do prefer the Beechmont locations atmosphere despite it being a bit smaller in square footage.

My happy place! I can never leave without having bought something. With both newer and used books, vintage titles, games, comics, stationary, and miscellany there is something for everyone. I am very disappointed that prices have jumped so significantly on clearance books. They are clearly overstock, damaged, or outdated and it seems to me that, with the mass quantity of inventory that passes their desk every day and the devotion of their repeat buyers, they could afford to be a little bit more magnanimous with their castoffs. Not cool Half Price Books. But love ya anyway.

Half Price Books is a great store. They have a great selection. I know other reviewers said that they rip them off when they sell them books, but they are used books and I know that they need to make a profit. So I feel they have always been fair with me when I sell them books. The staff is always friendly and willing to help. When Im looking for a book or movie I always check Half Price first. I go there all the time.
