At first I was not going to leave a review and just respond to the email you provided but after thinking about my experience and considering how my family and I were treated at your store on Saturday the 9th of October, management and others need to know how disrespectful and condescending your front desk staff was to my family and myself. My sister, sister-in-law, my mother and I were shopping in your store and went to the front desk to check out and to ask if you had a size medium in one of the hoodies my sister and I were planning to purchase for our family back home. I asked your employee at the check out if you had any mediums, she responded by saying Did you see any? my response was, No she then said, Well theres your answer and laughed. I feel this was so disrespectful. We took all the items we were going to purchase and put them back they all thought the same as I did and expressed that to me. While putting back the merchandise we asked a sales clerk for the name of the cashier and was told her name was either Sophie or Sophia. This employee needs some sort of customer relation training or a new line of work.. Due to this employees disrespectful and childlike actions you have customers that probably will never return.
Not sure if the parking lot guy works for Dubois but someone should surely let his supervisors know that that man was one of the most friendliest persons I have met. We were visiting from out of town to see my daughter and visited Dubois Bookstore, upon leaving we heard him explaining to someone that they had to pay the parking fee and this poor man was cussed out and called every name in the book but never lost his cool he smiled and wished the person a good day, I tried to call the number on the sign but something was wrong with their phone line. Oh and Dubois got the best UC gear around.
Nice people great selection but they dont have Miltary discount.. I shop where Veterans receive a discount...
Got my cap and gown for $20 cheaper going through DuBois. Great Service!
Friendly, enthusiastic staff, good selection of University of Cincinnati branded stuff. Parking is limited, but I like that it’s off campus but near campus
As overpriced as all other book stores, but i got a car plug so eh.
Great atmosphere, even better employees!
Conveniently located and its nice to not have to wait for shipping but they run out of stock pretty fast and are ridiculously expensive compared to every other place to buy books.
Great place to buy UC gear. I like their buyback books program. I got more money back selling my textbooks than I did at Half Price Books. I highly recommend this store.
This is a popular place at the beginning of the semester and the crowds reflect that. The reason why, is because they have a great selection of used books for decent prices and the staff knows how to move the crowds along. Do yourself a favor and get your book/class list together before you enter the store, it makes the trip quicker and easier. Books are expensive, theyll buy them back from your when you are done, but dont expect to get back what you paid.
The friendliest, most helpful staff. The selection there is amazing! I loaded up on Christmas gifts!
Worked here for a short period of time during college. Left because I witnessed a student manager sell someone a medical book back for less than $15 even though the computer said it was worth more than $60. The employee literally laughed when he left. Theyve got a fine selection of books but I wouldnt trust selling them back here.
Would give 0 stars if possible. An employee gave me the wrong book for my class and when I went to return it they refused to give me a refund, only store credit even though they handed me the wrong book without the online code that I needed for my class. I would very much like to never visit this establishment again but now I have a ridiculous $195 gift card I have to spend there. Make sure to check the books they give you before you checkout, or better yet visit another bookstore altogether.
This might be the most overlooked atrocity of college life. Selling books for 4 times the market price and then buying them back for 8% of the price they charged you? They bring in revenues by overcharging for books and then buying them back for a small percentage of what you paid, then turning around and selling them the next semester for the same exact price. Its pathetic and unethical, and after four years Im pretty fed-up and happy to be done dealing with these people and their bullshit policies. Also, did you buy a book 24 hours earlier and realize you dont need it? Too bad, non-refundable. The supervisor, who is supposed to be the head of the store, runs on the most absurd policies and only after talking to employees for 20 minutes did they tell me that I could return it if I had a written note from my professor that I didnt need it would she allow me to get a full refund. Absolutely absurd. Some advice from a senior. DO NOT USE THE BOOKSTORES IN OXFORD. Amazon, chegg, or any other online store is 10x better and makes much more sense. If youre buying books, stay away. Its a massive scam.
Manager is extremely rude. Would give 0 stars if I could, told me I didn’t return a book when I did and then later found it and didn’t apologize. Would not recommend . They’ve been deleting their other negative reviews
Great place for gear and merchandise. I also got my books here as a student and it was easy to do.
Enjoyed my visit. Staff very helpful.
Nice place. Good variety of items available. Friendly staff.
If everyone was as enthusiastic and helpful as Paul is about working here the world would truly be a better place!
Great selection of UC gear and friendly customer service
Great bookstore - bring some time to dive into it! Loved the selection of old management books :)
This is a well known bookstore for UC students. Always extremely helpful.
I just stopped by Dubois in order to rent a book I need for an essay and was told that I couldnt rent it because I do not have a drivers license, although I provided a passport. A passport is more sufficient as an ID than a drivers license, federal law trumps state law in more than most cases. I was told that I needed a drivers license specifically so that they can write down the license number, but that can be essentially done the same way with my passport number. This is a huge hassle, I dont understand why I need a car in order to rent a book. Terrible experience.
I was looking for University of Cincinnati Bearcat caps, and they had plenty. They also had UC Bearcat Tee Shirts on sale. Bought both.
Affordable bookstore around campus. Staff is very kind and helpful.
Best place on Earth for University of Cincinnati Gear
The staff is great but he management is terrible. If you have an issue with any product they are unwilling to help. The return/exchange policy is ridiculous. Jim DuBois himself is a damn bully who doesnt care about his customers, only money. Everything is way over priced. Do not shop here
Great staff, decent prices, and huge selection of everything UC.
I worked here for a short period of time and I must say the management is corrupt. Ty Bonawitz is a liar and not to be trusted. He will lie to his workers. Absolutely terrible place to work. The prof is in their turnover rate for jobs.
Huge selection of UC apparel from different brands too, unlike the UC bookstore on campus.
Nice option besides the store on campus.
They give you a lot of free stuff if you at freshman orientation
Paul was SUPER helpful!!!
Great as always
Very helpful customer service.
Lots of UC gear but a bit pricey. Friendly staff no wait for check out
Its a hit or miss with customer service. However, they usually have what Im looking for between books, supplies, and UC paraphernalia.
Love the selection of UC merchandise
Helpful and friendly staff.
Has all the Bearcats stuff you need
Always great
