Great place to work. Owner and supervisor Gilbert are nice. I don’t have any issues working there yet. Supervisor will most likely approved time off without giving a hard time. California Machine Specialties specializes in manufacturing of heatsinks primarily for the navy. It has a the great small shop feel where we support each other like team. The team members are helpful with one another to get the job done. The owner and management are supportive of every team member. The company continues to grows each year and as it grows each year management continues to invest in its employees and machinery providing a productive work environment to complete each job productively.

Stay away! The egotistical and disrespectful attitude of the owner and management is degrading and creates a hostile environment. The ownership is known to yell profanities at his employees on a regular basis, in which I found out fairly soon. It’s highly apparent that the ownership and management don’t fully trust the people they hired to do their jobs. Surveillance cameras are abundant throughout the shop, frequent floor inspections and micro-management makes everyone feel pressured and uncomfortable. Prior to being hired, my job duty was solely to program. From day one, I was flooded with not only my own work but with miscellaneous duties and management responsibilities. The tooling system is in total disarray. Tools to perform the jobs are scattered about the entire shop, and since the management choose not to address this problem, he included this issue to my Cinderella chore list. Current and former employees have threatened to quit in order to receive a raise. The one benefit of working here is it paid a few bills. And lastly, theres absolutely no dental, vision, 401k benefits. And you pay 100% for health costs, which is extremely expensive. The bottom line, its not worth it working here!
