These guys know their stuff. They have always treated me right. Even when I thought I was right..... I was wrong. The associates in the front office, warehouse, and nursery go above and beyond to answer your questions, make sure the customer is satisfied, and take the time to answer questions from the everyday hobbyist. Just showing up and browsing the bonsai nursery is an experience. I believe they originated in San Diego and moved to Chino. I was born and raised in Chino and moved to San Diego. Ironic. Check it out, you will not regret it.

STAY AWAY, received this bonsai in the mail with a few brown leaves. Called them, they said this was normal and nothing to worry about (was told normal cycle of tree). The brown leaves then spread all over the plant. Guess what, it’s now out of “warranty.” I keep many plants indoors and am experienced. Never had one die like this. I think they sold me an ill (diseased) plant. Now I am worried about all my other home plants getting this potential illness. Customer service was a joke. They told me to make a few cuts into the bark and then send them pictures. They then told me the tree is dead, unwilling to help. Pathetic company. Stay away, learn from my mistake so it does not happen to you.

Great store, even better customer service! I called to see if it was possible to purchase in store and they said yes but only on certain days but they were more than happy to let me come in anyway, even on a day they didn’t offer in store appointments. They introduced me to there artist who has definitely forgotten more about bonsai than I’ll ever know, I had a rather advanced question on a growing technique and not only did he answer the question but he had been working on a tree in that style himself. I bought 4 trees all very healthy and maintained perfectly just like all there plants, you have to see it in person all of the plants were healthy and thriving which is so rare from my experience. Eastern leaf sets the standard when it comes to bonsai and I’ll definitely be returning for more bonsai and to pick there artists brain.

Customer service experience was above and beyond! Ordered a bonsai which was shipped during closest days in Chicago. Upon arrival the bonsai was dead. Called customer service and they replaced the tree immediately. Replacement tree arrived and looks amazing. I feel like I can say that I trust them to do the right thing. I will place many more orders with them moving forward.

Highly recommend for online orders. We purchased lucky bamboos as wedding favors. All the guests seem to love them, and we had saved a few for ourselves around the house/at our work desks. All of the plants seem to be doing well, none have died or have any issues.

Bought a Chinese Elm in the middle of winter for my girlfriends Christmas gift and it came well packed and most importantly alive. Which was great because it traveled across the USA to get here to PA from CA .

Terrible customer service. I received a Large Rock Juniper as a gift. What arrived was very unstable: the root ball was exposed and the base was very narrow (inverse taper - a difficult to correct defect). In addition, the bonsai was poorly managed: large branches folder over on each other and poorly executed cuts. When I explained the issue, they said the tree was healthy and undamaged and that I would have to pay for return shipping. The tree is of very pretty poor quality for $129. It has the overall appearance of something that was thrown together (cut, folded and potted) at the last second by someone that has no idea what theyre doing. Not what anyone would expect in a bonsai. It is pretty clear that they dont really care about quality, arent properly trained and dont care about their customers. This is a bonsai sweatshop at best. DO NOT BUY from them.

I bought a Chinese elm, 8 to 10 years old. It arrived with a heat pack and completely covered in packing peanuts. ( it was sent to Wisconsin). I love the bonsai pot. I did not have an option, but it is gorgeous. It has been cared for and I am very happy with what I have seen. I will place an update as the weeks go on, to see if there is something that happens. However, as of now I could not be happier. Great job guys!! Ill be back for more.

We unfortunately received a deceased bonsai tree due to FedEX delaying our shipment, I called and emailed support team about the issue, and Betty and her team were superb and are shipping us a new bonsai tree for my mom. I had a great experience ordering from this company. This was a gift for my father who used to raise several varieties of bonsai trees earlier in life. He turns 74 this month and was thrilled to recieve this tree. I did ship cross county drom California to Oklahoma, without any kinks. Tree arrived in great condition and very well packaged. I ordered two bamboo sets,each having about five or six stalks.The plants arrived within two weeks and were carefully boxed with a gel type moisture pack at the roots.I planted the bamboo in glass jars with filtered water.I now have three bamboo plants indoors(added the two )had one already.The plants are happy and very low maintenance.They get soft daylight and I change the water about every two weeks.I will definitely shop Eastern Leaf for future purchases.

Strongly recommend you do NOT use this company. They sent a pathetic azalea bonsai, brown petals, leaves falling off, leggy. They would not replace or refund, saying they dont quarantee the plant.

I purchased a Fukien Tea bonsai from the Eastern Leaf nursery. They claims that the tree is 5 ~ 7 years old. It is only partially true. In reality, the tree was branched out from a 5 ~ 7 year old trunk for maybe half a year the most. The root is not strong enough so the tree wont last. I found this out because I replaced the soil a week after Ive received the tree with the bonsai soil purchased from the same order. Less than 3 months and my tree is dead...

Ive ordered several Bonsai, its very hit and miss. My latest experience was with the most expensive plant Ive ordered and it came in much smaller than advertised, with a base (that cost extra!) tray that didnt fit the oversized pot the sent it in. Customer service wont talk to you over the phone if it is an online purchase and email support is non-responsive so far. This was a gift and Im embarrassed to send it, which seems to be a trend looking at these comments.

I am new to Bonsai so was not sure what to expect. I ordered 3 trees and couldn’t be happier. They came so quickly and I love them all. They are perfect. I did not think they would come in such nice pots either! I am very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend this company.

Not quite happy with the tree. it is poorly trained with large ugly scars. I bought large chinese elm bonsai and it is not worth the money. miniature trees are tiny saplings. I wanted to return it but the shipping cost was too expensive and customer service said there is nothing they can do. Not a happy customer!

I purchased an 8-10 yr old Chinese elm bonsai tree for my brothers b-day... It arrived promptly ..very well packaged..very healthy..with all its leaves (even in mid march)...exactly what i was searching for.. Do not order from this store. They sent me a damaged Chinese Elm tree and are refusing to honor the 30-day guarantee to replace or refund my monies.Ive sent pictures of the dead tree which they insist is alive and well. To confirm the tree is indeed suffering, I took it around the corner to a plant shop. The guy just shook his head indicating the tree was damaged (they cut a large part of the trunk off prior to delivery and that it is dying. He also made a note to tell his customers to steer clear of Eastern Leaf.Beware this company. You wont like how they treat you when theres an issue with the product.

My experience with Eastern Leaf has been a great one..I always look forward to watching Jason’s videos. I visited the store last year and purchased a tree. Customer service was great and Jason even came out and introduced himself, and offered his advice.Since then I have contacted them via email for advice on a different tree that I was having problems with. and was very pleased that they always respond right away with great advice. My tree has recovered nicely.It would be great if Jason would make more videos.I would love to see specific trees on the web site that are available,So you know exactly what your getting. The most important videos Jason makes are those where he is providing instruction on one or more aspects of developing a specific species. For example, his video on trimming Chinese Elm to produce directional movement and increase ramification was particularly useful as were those on wiring.

Had an issue with a delivered plant-turned out that the building did not notify my niece about the delivery and when she found the plant it was too late. Eastern Leaf was good enough to resend!!! So grateful they stepped up!

Purchased 2 trees as Christmas gifts.figured it was best to have a professional company ship them. Wrong ! Selling poor quality TREES! BOTH DIED. One HAD BUGS IN THE SOIL Called 4 days after the 30 day issue policy said water the plaint more, Then all the leaves fell off the second plant . Lady that answers the phone could offer nothing more than Water the plaint more. Advice Find a local nursery. As others have stated, I do not recommend this company. Ordered a Japanese maple and received a dead plant that didnt look anything like the pic. Definitely not as advertised. Also, theyve told me to sit and wait until the 30 day guarantee period is at the end. Taught me a lesson, never buy a plant online unless you see the actual plant you are going to receive.

I ordered 18 succulents, 2 small pots on sale, and some Bonsai soil. The pots were cute, the soil seems good and was a decent price, no issues. But the succulents were terribly dry (couple days late shipping), tied together tightly with rubber bands around and right across the middle of the succulents. Them seemed to have been packed by someone that really doesn’t care much about plants. Several leaves had come off and one set of 3 looked practically dead. I repotted immediately and watered and after a couple of days they are mostly ok, but be aware .. if I was a day or two more for shipping I may have lost half of my 18 that I bought. I know they were only $2 each but they were packed like no one could care less if they lived, died, arrived in one piece, or whatever. “Just grow new ones from the broken leaves, no biggie”.Fix the child like rubber banding in the shipping ... take some care, even for the smallest things ... will show you care about your plants and your business.

I’m not sure what was more disappointing, the “trees” themselves that we ordered for a company Christmas party- or the customer service and total unaccountability of this company and it’s services. After receiving the 80 “tree favors” and paying close to $400 ON SALE, we were given a box of twigs in dirt, (out of 80 plants maybe 5 or 6 loosely depicted what is represented on the site and not a single one was worth the price) the “trees” were no more than a few inches in height, and in no way resembling the pictures or descriptions posted. After attempting to resolve the issue over the phone- I was completely blown off- and told to take pictures and email customer service, they accepted no responsibility for their false advertising and misleading descriptions of the items (the so called 5-9” trees were about 5” IF you included the two inches of soil and the container they came packed in) they refused to refund the product unless we packed them all back up and pay for the shipping ourselves, and they had no more stock to replace the product and left us high and dry a week away from our event. We were so excited to receive our order- and let down tremendously. The bottom line is these are not “tree” favors and they are not anywhere close to being worth their listed price.

I have placed 2 orders with Eastern Leaf, the first order was incorrect and the wrong tool was sent. After contacting Eastern Leaf they corrected the the problem and sent the right tool without any issue. The 2nd order was correct. I am very happy with the products and services.

Received a bonsai from here as a gift. The plant arrived root bound and died after a short period of time (but beyond their very short return window). The plant never had a chance to survive and theres no way of telling what was wrong at first arrival (I was convinced it needed to acclimate etc). Seems like this place is sorta the big box store of online bonsai sales where they are more about quantity of customers over quality and delivering a good product.

If I could give zero starS I would. $56.00 tree arrived with bugs. They did not clear up. Called Eastern Leaf and got a very snooty know it all who was no help at all. Days later a worm crawled out of the pot. The next day a slug. Tree is obviously dead and was dying when shipped. they dont care. sent them pictures and their answer is to give it time and fertilizer. Idiots! Its dead and not coming back. I will now contact the better business bureau as well as post on every review site I can find. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE UNLESS YOU WANT WORMS, BUGS AND SLUGS!

I was looking for a bonsai for my daughters birthday but could find nothing local that I liked. The Eastern Leaf web site picture was very attractive and I decided to take a chance on a mail order plant. It arrived on time and came very well packaged to survive the trip. It was just beautiful and looks exactly like the picture. It made my daughter very happy. She has named it Groot.

I order a bonsai from Eastern Leaf last week. Got it on 8/16/16. The plant was fine but when I looked at the container OH BOY!! One the soil was regular potting soil. No mesh or wires covering the drain wholes. And get this, this is the kicker... There was a worn coming out the drain hole. This is very sad and unprofessional. Dont bother with this site go elsewhere ASAP!!

Called to try to correct the problem, and they were talking about charging me more to send it to the right address (the one I put in on their site). They blame the error on PayPal and even though they are aware its a flaw in their system. There are plenty of other lovely plant delivery services, avoid this one.

I have ordered several trees from Eastern Leaf. Enjoying them very much. Building a nice collection of trees to decorate my apartment.

The plant itself is beautiful. The delivery and subsequent customer service left much to be desired. The plant was delivered in a shattered pot, probably because the box needed a label indicating the contents were fragile. I contacted the seller immediately and sent pictures. They shipped me out a new pot via USPS, not anything faster even though they had seen the damage and that the plant was falling out of the broken pot. The new pot finally arrived a week later, and it was smaller than the original pot. I had to re-pot this at my office which made a huge mess due to the small nature of the new pot. I contacted customer service again and was told this was the only pot they had essentially. Extremely disappointed with the manner in which the plant was shipped and the apathetic behavior of customer service. However, the plant is beautiful, and I hope it thrives in its too small pot.
