Visited this store today for the first time since before the pandemic started. This store has expanded in size and scope. Twice as big from they first opened their doors. Their selection is incredible. I travel several states for work, and this is one of the most impressive stores ive visited (ive shopped everyone in the midwest). Their used vinyl selection is wide ranging and full of rarities and gems. The recent arrivals section is huge and the regular stock of new and used is several aisles packed. They are definitely getting the citys best trade ins on vinyl. I saw several titles there today that took me years to find. You wont walk out of this store without a stack.

I went in to buy a gift for a vinyl exchange, my giftee had a very eclectic list but the person up front was EXTREMELY helpful (I wish I had gotten their name so I could give kudos!). Gave some very cool selections to choose from and even pointed me in the direction of the obscure $1 bin (which fit the description of the person I was buying for). I will definitely be going again for myself and will be recommending to all my friends. Thank you!!

A comprehensive selection of vinyl records. A little bit of everything, and those little bits cover some essential bases. The staff was warm and welcoming. If I ever make my way back to this city, it will certainly be a destination.

This is difinitly one of the best record shop in the City of Chicago.people are respectful, honest and very nice. Items are sorted and organized perfectly and I give 5 🌟

Love these guys!!! I needed my Def Leppard Hysteria album and they made sure I got it and I was not disappointed at all.I will definitely be returning for all my vinyl needs. I highly recommend them to any vinyl head!

Well decorated and fun store. And the owners are very polite and nice. They told me thanks after they read my short review and I thought that was very sweet. My roommate is the one who likes records while I like taking pics of what ever I can. Rattleback Records was a great fun store for both of us. Theyve got a whole bunch of new records - both new music, old music, bootlegs, collections, singles, etc. - and some used records. Additionally, they sell various equipment and speakers for record players and just recently expanded the store to make it more open. A great local record store that we try to frequent often!!

About a month ago I walked into this store to start my serious dive into vinyl world and met Paul and Mike, the owners. They were the sweetest owners of a business that they put so much pride and hard work into. I didnt feel out of place, I didnt feel awkward or ignorant to the world of vinyl (even though for the most part I was lol). They sold me my first actual turntable and gave me a whole tutorial on how it works. Ever since this day Ive been going back and buying records and just random stuff (they have a display case of random vintage stuff).If there was an option to give a sixth star I would have done so ages ago. I still hit the store up maybe twice or three times a month. Go check it out yourselves.

Great variety in selection and prices. Friendly staff. Clean, bright store. My only problem was I found and bought more records then I should have.

I have called Rattleback on two separate occasions and both times they have gone out of their way to try to get me my vinyls. Unfortunately both were out of print but they went through the trouble of trying to get it, and even recommended other stores that I might have luck in with my hunt. The customer always comes first with them, and even if I find my product at another store Ill keep coming back to Rattleback Records for their DAMN FINE customer service! You guys rock!

A gem of a store. They have a good selection and the owners and staff are knowledgeable, helpful and nice. Rattleback is just a perfect little record shop.

The selection is killer and the staff beyond welcoming and friendly, plus theyre incredibly knowledgeable. Every time I stop in Im guaranteed to have a great conversation about new tunes, good shows, and just music in general. Theyve got a great trade-in policy for wax you havent listened to in a while, Ive swapped more than a few for some excellent new releases. As far as your neighborhood local record stores go, Rattleback is a gem. I walk in almost every time I pass by and never walk out empty-handed.

Just an all-around pleasant experience. The staff were knowledgeable without being condescending. They dont have the space to have an exhaustive selection (r. i. p. JrM), but they make the most of the space they have. Good balance of used, new, and sealed new old stock pressings. I bought a couple used 33s, and the gentleman kindly re-checked the condition of each when I paid (they were pristine and at great prices).

This is a very friendly and down-to-earth record resale shop. The owner and employees are very personable and more than happy to help you out. They were very kind while reviewing a record collection that I brought in and gave me a fair price. If youre looking to buy yourself some vinyl, this is the place for you. Well worth the trip to Andersonville! Good to have them in the neighborhood.

Absolutely my favorite record store and one of my favorite places in the whole city. Paul and Mike really make it feel like a home. Not just for music lovers, but human beings in general. A business that welcomes and encourages expression and individuality. A real gem

I absolutely adore this place. The staff is super personable, the selection is awesome, and its reasonably priced! I was so sad to find out that a box of records was crushed before Record Store Day, however Paul, the owner, remembered that I was looking for a specific record and requested it be sent even after the day. I am SO happy to have this record and beyond that it was such a lovely gesture!

Paul and his team at Rattleback are AMAZING. The customer service is out of this world. I recently purchased a record and when I got home and played it, unfortunately some of the songs began to skip. At first I was extremely bummed out that a new record would do this, and that I likely wouldnt be able to return/exchange it. However, when I went back to the store a while later to purchase some more records, I talked to Paul about my issue and he could not have been nicer. Paul immediately agreed to exchange my record - no questions asked (turns out he even placed the order for a replacement record that same day). Paul even seemed more bummed out than I was initially - that just shows how dedicated he is to the quality of his records and ensuring his customers have a great listening experience. Rattleback has awesome choices and fantastic customer service. I highly recommend!

This is a nice little shop. Theyve got way more records & CDs than you might think, given how small the place looks from outside. Selection is nice/varied; no junk. Prices are good. They also have some music-related gew-gaws for your amusement.

Rattleback has become one of my favorite record stores in Chicago. I was so happy to hear a new record shop was opening up in Andersonville since the previous record store closed in the area. This record store now gives me more of a reason to go over to Andersonville. The store itself is set up perfectly and the owner is awesome! I have already found some gems in there over the last couple of months and I will continue to give business to them. They have such a wide variety of music and Iove that they do not shy away any type of music there. I love my mainstream music and able to go in and find some newer music vinyls.We all like what we like and they have it all there! Thanks for being awesome and Ill be coming back soon!

I’ve been collecting and buying music for over forty years (mainly vinyl LPs) and I’ve been to hundreds of music and record stores. Rattleback Records is one of the best I’ve been to. The store itself is very inviting and it’s easy to peruse the large bins filled with an excellent selection of LPs (they also have CDs, books, posters and accessories) of multiple genres.The owner/manager Paul is a musical encyclopedia and can answer questions or make suggestions across various types of music. If Paul doesn’t know (a rare occurrence), he’ll find out for you. The prices here are very competitive and the selection is outstanding. You’ll find both new and used LPs here. I always find something on each visit (which is saying something as I have over 1200 vinyl LPs). If you are a seasoned collector like me, or just starting out, this is the place for you, as well as anyone in between.If you love music, you’ve gotta get to this store.Odds are you’ll go home with some new treasure.
