The customer service reps are extremely rude. They called me being very unclear about what was happening to my rental. I was trying to ask clarifying questions, the lady was extremely unhelpful. Then proceed to say, “your not getting a discount,” when I said nothing about a discount. Then hung up on me. I recommend Life Storage. Extremely kind and respectful people.

I was given a truck with tire pressure problems. I called to receive assistance and no one responded. I didn’t want to be charged further so I dropped it off after not getting a response for hours. I have still yet to get a response. This is very unprofessional and unreliable service. Be careful with the trucks they offer.

Highly recommend this location! The U-Box delivery was awesome, Shae was so helpful and kind. They made it so easy on us!

This U-Haul was surprisingly convenient. It would be in the city and have a riverfront view. The facility is spaced to allow for customer parking and truck facilities. The location is a bit tricky so dont drive to fast or you may miss the turn. Storage is also available.

BETTER THAN THE BEST!!! I have received really good service from other Storage facilities that I rented in the past, but Uhaul on 500 W Cermak deserves the J Powell Award!!! I was over the top impressed by the Genuine Courtesy, Attentive, Professional and overall Care received and the Organized Flow ... I was referred to the 500 W Cermak facility because the Markham IL location did not have the trailer for the time period needed. Upon arrival the entire staff was SUPERB! The Clerk (I believe Ashley) was extremely helpful and she patiently sought to find the appropriate vehicle at the best price for my project, and it kept getting BETTER!! Kevin gave me super instructions on parking and ground details, and next, I truly hit the Lottery, upon returning the van, I needed a Storage unit, the main customer service center was having a challenge locating the Cermak Loop facility and when Iwas able to connect directly, BINGO!!! Fernando located a unit despite customer service saying none were available, Next, Jazmin further helped by locating a unit that I could easily slide my oversized sofa into.... My heart was racing from the intense love felt!! Finally when I was directed to sign out of the van, Daniel was very informative, attentive and kind... I would lovingly Urge anyone needing to rent a moving vehicle/trailer, or needing storage, Please Go to the Uhaul Cermak Loop Location, the Phenomenal Service will justify going out of way, may I add the Prices Are Great!! Please avoid using Ubox shipping services for a cross country move particularly at this location at all costs. You may be charged a reasonable shipping fee, but you will experience the headache of “where is my belongings” when they blow past your guaranteed delivery date and repeatedly tell you they don’t know why the carrier aka Uhaul hasn’t shipped your belongings after having them in their possession for more than two weeks. One internal employee based in Phoenix who doesn’t normally work with customers told me that someone at this South Loop location basically screwed up my order and that the shipping carrier is Uhaul not a 3rd party company. They can’t even provide a clear explanation and apology to a customer for not doing the service they were paid to do. Vanessa is also incredibly rude and should probably not work in customer service.One Uhaul representative told me verbatim that “your 2 uboxes will ship on 7/5 and arrive on 7/4. I asked him for clarification and he repeated this statement. This is the level of incompetence you will encounter with Uhaul. Neighborhood children could provide better service. Uhaul is NOT I repeat NOT a shipping company and lacks any logistical knowledge. The fact that they are involved in international shipping for customers is straight scary. You would be better off setting across the sea in a sail boat than trusting Uhaul to safely get your items from location A to B.If you want your moving process to turn into a nightmare then I would suggest this service for you. The worst part is that when you ask for an explanation of “why” they will repeatedly say “they don’t know” as if that is an acceptable explanation. This is the hallmark of trash customer service from a company that would be better off sticking to selling boxes and truck rentals. You get a new explanation every time you call customer service. This company is a joke and needs better processes in place.Never again will I use or recommend Uhaul.

Amazing to deliver here! I thought being in Chicago and being in Chinatown it would be difficult boy was I wrong. They own the entire city block. Plenty of room to maneuver, a huge yard to straighten out, and if you come early they unload you in 10 minutes. Great staff that is very helpful. Will gladly pick up from here again!

Everything from reserving to return was super fast and easy. It was a bit pricey though expecially when I went over the mileage just a bit. Plus, kinda hard to get to if you dont have a car

Hands down the best U-Haul I have ever had dealings with, and trust me, I have had quite a few over duration of the last 10 years or so.The rent-a-truck was returned here but not initially rented. The return process was effortless and hassle-free and the gentleman were super pleasant and extremely professional.I was so impressed with the professionalism of each one of the crew I asked to speak with the manager on duty just to make sure he knew how awesome his staff was and how much I liked this location above any that Ive ever visited.I doubt this location will disappoint, please consider using this location specifically if you are in the area.

We selected the south loop location while ordering and were sent a confirmation by email that stated our pick up location was the south loop location. When we arrived, we were greeted by two different rude women that told us our rental was in Cicero (15 miles away). I tried to give them my number and they wouldn’t attempt to read it, figure out the problem, or explain it to this customer. We asked for the $50 “your truck will be ready” refund and they said it wasn’t their problem. Neither of the inconsiderate humans were wearing a mask, in violation of the mayors orders. It’s clear they don’t care about service at this location. I will go with a competitor in the future so that I do t have to deal with these rude people.

We messed up and didnt call ahead to collect my daughters College Boxes from storage on Saturday. We were told we couldnt get them as the guy who handles them had left for the day. We had rented a van that had to be back in Connecticut by Sunday - we were in a tough spot. The woman in charge made it happen and we got everything we came for. This kind of above-and-beyond customer service is rare - a big thank you to the great crew at Cemak Street.

I had an emergent situation and needed a truck and storage unit. On one of the busiest weekends the staff was able to provide a truck and storage unit with 24-hour access allowing me to move my belongings that evening. Both staff members working that day were very kind and professional. They were a great help and really helped with my moving situation. The facility is secure and I felt my belongings were safely stored there.

The staff were friendly and helpful and made the experience of renting a storage locker and buying the right moving supplies fun and easy. This location is converted from a very old warehouse, which probably comes with a unique set of challenges from a storage service perspective.

Best place near Downtown to Pickup a UHaul truck.van. It has a wide range of Pickup trucks and vans along with various storage lockers.

Good place and highly secure. friendly people. Kept my house holds almost 5-6 months. In house storage with CLIMATE CONTROL available. i feel very comfortable.

They are really slow. With five people in line they only have one person helping people. Seems like they have no urgency at all. Its been 15 minutes and only one person has been successfully helped. We are only waiting on getting our partial refund after returning a pickup truck. It took us twenty minutes to receive our refund of 6.50.

While storage facility is secure and clean inside temperture in summer is close to 80 degrees not climate controlled in my opinion. Several times I have gone there and people park their cars in bays that rent lofts and you are unable to unload. Soory but I would not use this facility again ever.

As a frequent UHaul user, I can say that this is one of the most professionally-managed and well-organized locations in Chicagoland.

Great people @ 500w. Shaddy business practices: rate is for 24hrs usage, why ask hour of usage!!!?? Reservation center informed and confirmed my different drop-off locale several times, but texted me with same pick/drop-off afterward. talked to 2 different location, 3 different person, and still refuse to make correction - not noted, so wont make chnange w/o fee.

Im done with this place, i tried to keep positive during my contract but at this point its impossible. My storage unit collapsed damaging my goods with no reimbursement except 1 free month of storage and 24hr access.I have had numerous issues regarding access to the building via key card. Yet again, i visit my storage to remove my items only to find that my 24hr access was not applied.No worries, its only a 15mile drive to and from this place and my time isnt valuable at all. Do yourself a favor and trust your goods elsewhere.

God Customer Service

Horrible customer service. The place is crawling with dead spiders. They’re entire facility is not clean. I’ve had unauthorized payments charged to our account. We asked for 24 hr service via phone and it was granted but then when we told them to take it off they said they would but we still got charged the next two months for it. So much back and forth, hassle, inconvenience and waste of time. On top of that, they charged me a late fee after I paid on time. And when the GM, Jason Zamora, said it was their fault and due to some “programming error” and that he would take care of the matter right away since we were moving our stuff out later that week. When we came, we were denied access and when we talked to the associates inside, there was still an overdue payment and when that was finally taken care of, we go up to our storage unit and there’s already a red lock on it. Some “programming issue” right. I’ve had the worst experience here, I’ve been here for exactly a year and I hated it. The GM is unresponsive and has numerous complaints from many customers but they fail to address any issue. We’ve been back and forth with corporate and not much is done to resolve anything. I moved my stuff to a different storage company, much cleaner and way better customer service.

General manager Jason Zamora is very arrogant and quite racist, I doubt would make his father proud. His brown nosing assistant manager Charles Spaulding is also very arrogant and incompetent but ya know what they say dodo birds of a feather I suppose. Most of the rest of the staff are near decent people. Nuff said. Sheena rocks though! Hope she keeps up the good work.

The cashier there was very friendly and very helpful.

Didnt like the service at the location. I had reserved a truck online to drop of at a different location and when I arrived there to pick it up I was told that the website had a bug because that wouldnt be a possibility. I was forced to upgrade my reservation to a bigger car and pay extra 70 bucks for it.Fortunately we complaint online and were given back the 70 bucks, but the on site service was terrible!

Went to this location to purchase moving materials. The staff was very accommodating and I really appreciated their service.

Ive rented from them twice - once for a local move another for a one way move to PA. I got everything I needed, it worked well, everything was clean, service was great and the price was as agreed. When I had to cancel one of the moving help services, I had no issues at all.

If I could give it negative stars I would!!! I have literally never filled out a review online, but this experience warrants it. Long story short, the day before my move they changed my reservation from a 26 truck to a 20 truck. After arguing with them until they admit their mistake, they essentially told me to suck it up. No effort to make it right, no apology, no nothing... just terrible customer service.Full story: The day before my move I get an email saying everything would be ready the next day. Only when I checked the details, I realize they changed my reservation from a 26 truck to a 20 truck without any warning. I called both the local store and the main U-haul hotline thinking this was a simple typo or computer error, but both tell me they dont have any 26 trucks available. When I ask why they changed my reservation, they deny it and tell me this is my mistake. They even tried to change my original reservation on the online account to make it look like I originally booked the smaller truck!!! Luckily I had all the records from my original 26 truck booking and after arguing with them for 15-20 minutes they finally admit to the fact that the reservation was changed. Thats when they say, Well we still dont have any 26 trucks available so you are going to have to settle for the smaller one!! No offer of a discount, no apology for screwing me over the day before my move, no effort to make anything right. Just a whole lot of denials, arguing, and non-sense finalized with a big, suck-it-up and pay us money.U-haul just lost my business, permanently. I would encourage everyone else to book their moving truck with another company.
