This is the best shop in Chicago. The guys were super friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to sit and chat about the entire job and what went into it. I booked my appointment and had my bike back in a day. They’re not cheap, but that’s to be expected from any great shop. Besides, it’s well worth it considering the quality of work they do. They are most definitely my new trusted shop.

Mike and the team were fantastic, very professional along with letting me know the status of repairs. (bike needed a lot of TLC to get back in working order) My bike came back cleaner than when I dropped it off. I will definitely come back for any other repairs and most likely winter storage. Highly recommend their services. Monique & Erik

A bunch of handsome gentlemen work in a cozy bike shop. They have a very eclectic vintage Honda market. And Im pretty sure they can do a twin head motor and just about any other engine style. Full rebuild. Even possible that they are a Harley friendly refurb shop. I stopped by after a job I was working in the neighborhood and had a high octane (a vodka soda with oranges) cocktail at one of their brat partys. The shop is located next to Metric Coffee. Another great business.

Mike and crew were amazing. Solved a mystery issue with my Ducati in no time, fixed it and charged me a totally reasonable rate when they could have easily taken advantage of me with costing. I’ve used them several times for different bikes and have always been happy with the service and the smiles.

Mike and team over at Federal Moto are hands down the most reliable/trustworthy in Chicago. Super knowledgeable and great to deal with from start to finish. If you have a vintage Japanese motorcycle, I couldn’t recommend the shop more!

Always a pleasure to see the amazingly creative custom builds and outstanding service work coming out of Federal. These guys are pros. Its awesome and for sale, or so I heard.

I appreciated Federal Moto standing by their work after my bike had to be fixed up two times after they did the original tune up. I decided to invest a lot of money (more than I spent on the bike itself) on the tune-up in accordance with Marks advice, and its working well. This was my first bike and I appreciated how patient the staff were. I also appreciated Marks support and advice for a new rider. Recommended.

As a newish female motorcyclist, Im a little nervous about dealing with mechanics and motorcycle people in general. I found these guys from a friend of mine and they were wonderful to work with. I felt so comfortable the whole time and well taken care of. I never felt stupid for asking questions and the pricing was absolutely fair. They were great at communcating with status reports also. Would recommend them to anyone who rides in Chicago.

I had received a motorcycle through a trade and decided to bring it to this shop through a recommendation. The issue with the bike, as I was told when I received it, was a low compression issue. I had brought my bike to this shop and they told me they were able to start it right up, and just recommended some maintenance work. Fantastic. $1500 later, after some fancy new tires, brakes, gaskets, oil change, steering bearing ect.. I am told my bike is ready for pick up! Awesome! I couldnt be more stoked even though I paid an arm and a leg, and had to wait 6 weeks for repairs. Upon picking my bike up, we had difficulties getting the bike started. After a bit of time, they were able to start it, and began to tell me that there is a vacuum issue in the manifolds and recommend replacing them. Im a bit frustrated, because Ive paid all this money for a tuneup, and my bike doesnt even run properly, and these people gave me the green light to come pick up my motorcycle. I gave it a test ride. When the clutch was engaged, the bike would run very high idle, as well as in neutral. To the point, where I needed to adjust my idle at every stop light on my ride home. I was told by the technician that this is just The nature of the beast for bikes this old Okay? Ive owned older Japanese bikes, and Ive never even heard of this. He asked me if he could take it for a spin, I said no problem. He gunned it down the street and back and said everything seems perfectly normal, except the brakes seem a bit spongy and need to be bled. Dude are you kidding me? You JUST did a full brake job on my bike. Reluctantly, I rode it home because I didnt want to give this company anymore of my money. I leak checked the manifolds when I got home, and though they are old, I saw no indication of a leak. I cant believe this shop has so many five star reviews. I suppose they cared more about my wallet than my actual bike. This shop may be great for custom work, but for anything mechanically related, I would stay away.UPDATE: I brought my bike to another shop on Chicagos south side in hopes to rectify this issue. They diagnosed the problem as a bad main jet. Super cheap repair, and now my bike runs like a beast!

These guys are the best in town...from small odd job, storage, service, etc. all the way to a custom build. I worked closely with Mike to add just enough custom touches to a stock 2015 Yamaha SR400. Couldn’t be happier. And the service since has been impeccable.

I was lucky enough to work with Mike Muller and Federal Moto in 2015 converting / restoring my 81 CB750. Ive had nothing but positive experiences in both their work and professionalism. Always super helpful in sharing of info and exceptional at creativity and problem solving. I would happily recommend them to anyone looking for a knowledgeable bike builder with a great and honestly helpful attitude.

I brought my 2014 Triumph Bonneville in for a new set of break pads and got so much more. Mike, the owner and lead builder, not only ran out to another store on my behalf to grab a set of Triumph break pads because it would be quicker than ordering, but also went through the entire bike to spruce it up where he could. He texted me the key updates and upon pickup my bike was running better than the first day I got it (from a dealer). On top of that, the price was remarkably fair.Mike and his team know their stuff, consistently produce beautiful bikes, and have secured my business for years to come.

I was only visiting but someday I hope to be a customer. The work these brothers do on motorcycles is impressive. Such creative artistry has inspired me to take welding classes and start to slowly tinker with my own bikes. Im looking forward to seeing future custom builds from Federal Moto. While I was there I felt like I was in the way while they worked hard against deadlines for a public reveal. These guys were friendly and accommodation to me and my questions.

Such an incredible shop with the coolest dudes running it. Brought my cb750 in wanting to swap my forks out for a more modern look. Complete honesty and transparency through the entire process. Ended up getting new wheels built and a rear brake conversion, and man does this bike start to look sick. Always going to attend their events from now on. I walk out of that shop feeling like a badass. You too. Can feel like a badass.
