Horrible customer service. Every time i order ahead of time through the phone, it takes me longer to get attended. If i ordered through the phone ahead of time, its obvious i need it ready when i arrive. I ordered at 5:22pm and wasnt attended until 6:10pm. When i placed my order i was told it’d be ready in 10 minutes, however i wasnt told the line to receive my food was over 30 minutes long. My food is all soggy and cold by now. Very upsetting.
The steak tacos were really good and worth the price. I could tell they use good quality and fresh ingredients. Great taste and felt good after eating them, no strange aftertaste. Cant wait to come back.
This place is the bomb. Don’t listen to the haters. Best tacos ever. Highly recommend.
We used to love this place! Things have changed for this visit. The tripa tacos were spoiled. We told the cook. Waitstaff not very attentive. Sad and disappointed
One of my favorite places for great tacos and service!
Their tacos are good, but very expensive for a taco. $3.25 for a steak taco, but not regular taco. Its a super mini taco. Their aguas frescas are freshly made when you order them. Theyre really good, but its a first and last time were going. Not because of the mini tacos, but because they dont have variety of food. Just tacos and huaraches, and my daughters wanted to eat something else but had no choice but to get tacos🤷🏻♀️.
I cannot express in plain words how great these tacos are!!! Small, modest place, not great for large groups, sketchy neighborhood, but well worth it!I recommend tacos de tripas but honestly the quality of meat this place uses for all their dishes in combination with their recipes makes any taco choice a great experience.Sit at the bar window and order tacos 2-3 at a time and shoot the breeze with the friendly cook and enjoy the time with great food and great company.
Overpriced for super tiny tacos, smaller than normal but more expensive than normal. ordered steak and received cecina. Al pastor was dry. Strawberry shake didnt taste like strawberry & it just didn’t taste like a milkshake at all
A little off the beaten path but if youre in the search for really really good tacos this is the place to look for. Tried 7 varieties and not a bad one in the bunch flavors that ran the gamut on your taste buds add a little hot sauce or a bite of charred onion and your travels to taco narvana are realized
Al pastor is great here
This restaurant is overrated. The service was not very good. They gave me more tacos than I ordered at my cost of course. The food was average at best. And they lack in cleanliness. Not worth going back.
Tacos are good but price is a little high for small tacos but if im around the area I would eat there again but I wont drive to come here
Tacos are good, they have flavor but they are super small. Like if they were street tacos. They use white tortillas. And a taco is almost $3. For the size of the taco, $3 is not justified ( price ranges from 2.25-275). Good flavor but small as heck
What an absolutely fantastic experience here at La Chaparrita! The tacos and service were amazing. In a city where tacos are a dime a dozen I would gladly take the extra 10 minute drive here to chow on something that is no standard taco! From the radishes, to the sauces, mmmmm, so tasty! Going back VERY soon!
Seriously some of the best tacos Ive ever had. Small, a little pricey but well worth it!
Best tacos in the city
No tamales available, The tacos came with radish and limes on the side.
Personally didnt like it!!! And they took way too long to make the order. Tacos so small and expensive. I went because my friends told me tacos were good but I didnt like em. Sorry
Great place with awesome tacos and amazing service, a little bit pricey but we didnt mind. The waitress was super nice and patient with our large group while ordering. Muy buen servicio y muy ricos tacos. Me gustaron los tacos de cecina con la salsa de habanero 🌶🔥🔥
The food is great, the tacos are a must try. The shakes are also good to try. It was easy to find the place, there is no designated parking but there are plenty of parking spaces along the street. As for the establishment, it looks clean, the decor I was not a fan but got over it while tasting the food. The service was also good and our server did come around a couple of times to make sure we were good. Will stop by again at this place.
The best tacos in miles. I love this place.
The food here was great. The atmosphere was a little different. I would have never checked it out if it hadn’t been on Check Please. I’m glad I stopped in.
Good food. But portions are small for the price. We tried steak, tripe, tongue, pork tacos. We enjoyed all of them except for the steak. I felt it was a bit too chewy. Theres no parking so you have to find parking.
BEST tacos in the city!!!! Yum, yum, yum! You will NOT be disappointed! You have to tryout this place ASAP!
Amazing, authentic tacos! We visited from Ohio and will definitely eat here next time we are in town. The service was great too. The server was very accommodating and friendly.
My favorite taco place hands down. Best, AUTHENTIC tacos in town. I bring all my friends and family here. Their tepache is awesome, too. I love that its family owned and ran, the owners are almost always there and that makes for great service each time Ive been. This place is a real gem.Edit: as of Thanksgiving 2018 they are closed every Thursday of every week until further notice.
Amazing!!! I have had this place on my radar for a year, and I finally went for lunch today. Super delicious. The al pastor tacos are the best I’ve ever had. Super authentic and well-priced. Your food comes out relatively quickly and you can tell that your tacos are fresh. The menu is small and limited, but that’s only because they stick to what they’re good at - tacos - and it pays off!
Great service the food is amazing!!! Love all the workers there. Love going to this place and have been going for many years
The freaking best food in the world. Get a life if you havent tried it
Tasty tacos! El pastor was VERY good. Highly recommend it
One of the best taco spots en La Villita. The meat is always fresh, the tepache is exquisite and even though Im not vegetarian I love ordering off the vegetarian menu for something different. Highly recommend the huitlacoche and flor de calabaza. The owners are super friendly. Really makes you feel at home.
Get the crispy tripas tacos, absolutely delicious, almost like bacon just melts in your mouth. Will definitely be coming back regularly. Horchata was also awesome. Can’t wait to try more.
Very good food
Without a doubt the best taco joint Ive ever experienced. Possibly the best Mexican food too but Ive only sampled the Pastor and Longaniza. Will definitely be stopping by again, which says a lot cause I live 5 hours away.
Stopped by the food truck, amazingly friendly people and a burrito that has put to shame every burrito Ive had in DC and Boston.Upset that I am only visiting for the weekend and will have to return to my now second favorite burrito place back home.
The tacos are delicious. My favorite ones are the alpastor
One of everything and a vampiro porfavor. AND you can take longaniza home by the pound!
Even though i was mistaken in looking for fruit here, they were really nice and tried to accommodate my appetite. A for effort ❤
Best tacos ever! if you want 10 star tacos, come here. authentic, mouth watering delicious, seriously yummy!! Hidden gem inside of a grocery store, family owned, small local business. There is table seating and parking on street available. The only problem is, its hard to stop eating!
The most delicious tacos de canasta!!! Definitely will come back.
The best, end of review
All their tacos are really good. The meat quality is consistent and good. I personally like their pastor and cabeza. Great service too!
Somewhat disappointing: although the service was great, I thought that the tacos And the tamales were lacking. I ordered 3: a lengua, a molleca (sweetbreads) and a tripe - browned to crisp them a bit. Ive had both tripe and sweetbreads in different preparations, and Ive really liked them. Lengua tacos are my favorite, and Ive eaten quite a few. The molleca had a strong flavor, very different from sweetbreads Ive had in the past. The tripe one was browned, but they came out rather tough. But the most disappointing was the lengua: it was sliced into rather large, tough pieces. I have never had a lengua taco that wasnt soft as butter. The 4 tamales I ordered (chicken and two others a dont recall) were all dry. Period. They also had a somewhat off-flavor I couldnt identify.Positives? Yes, there were a few - the liquados were incredible. Id drive out there in the Summer just to grab a few of those. Also, my wifes Al Pastor taco was probably the best Ive ever tasted, with chunks of pineapple. So in sum, a three star experience, based upon the niceness of the service, the liquados and the Al Pastor.
Best tacos! In Midwest. You ll love them. I guarantee it!
The best taquitos in Chicago and suburbs... You got to try pastor and tripitas, you cant go wrong whit those ones...
Amazing tacos. We love coming here for lunch on weekends.
Delicious meats with friendly service in this Little Village eatery. They have all sorts of greats meats that the chef fries up in a small shallow pot. If you can stomach it they have the best tripitas (intestines) and ask for them doradas (extra crispy) get a fresh shake or juice they make right away while you wait for your tacos.
You need to try these tacos
Amazing food. One of the best Ive had in Chicago. Love this place. Great people and great service.
Had great chicken and steak fajitas!. The wait staff was wonderful. Come on out an support a local vendor!
Very good, go there at least once a week, love the tacos, Im from Mexico and Im used to it o tacos from over there and this is the perfect spot for me, the staff is very formal and greeting. Definitely worth it!
This is just an incredible store and small eatery. Dont be intimidated by the location, area. We went there with small children. Such friendly staff and wonderful food. Tacos like you wont get anywhere else! (Try the tripe and sweetbreads!) The tepache is magnificent - worth driving a looong way for.
Fantastic flavorful fresh tacos. Go here if you’re looking for tacos in Chicago
Love the atmosphere in this place! very kind people, delicious food, and refreshing tepache. i got the asada tacos with some of the spicy green salsa and beets SO good! would definitely visit again
Dont be afraid to try something new. Everything is good here.
Awesome and Delicious!
Food is amazing the Skirt steak is fire 🔥 ball family owned as well
Just amazing tacos. So good.
Best pastor tacos in Chicago, hands down.
I have seen this place rated as one of the best taquerias in Chicago. Very impressive since we have many great taquerias. So I decided to give it a try last night since I was in the neighborhood. I tried the campechano, tripas & pastor. They were all excellent! They have 2 different salsas which are both tasty and had a decent amount of heat. The aguas frescas where tasty and they offer many unique options. The owner came around to ask how we liked the food. Obviously, we said it was great. She was very friendly and have us some background on how they came about. It was nice to see a business owner come out and make sure that her customers where satisfied.I cant wait to go back and try everything else they have to offer.
Neighborhood choice, good selections, great staff
Their al pastor make you kiss your Pastor. Outstanding!
Tienen Los mejores tacos de cecina aqui. Un lugar chikito comodo super cozy and waitress are on it. Tacos are $2.75 and asada $3.00 . Theyre also a little store where you can find snacks and other things you might need last minute at home. 100%recommendado
AMAZING food!!! The best tacos Ive had in the city. Definitely get the tripe and the al pastor. Also get the tepache (fermented pineapple drink)
One of the best tacos ive tried in the city!
Amazing tacos and fruit waters/ juices everything is so good and fresh
Tacos sudados are 🔥
Honestly this place rules in every way. they have all the cool mexican dulces, awesome santa muerte shrines that are really intense, and the PERFECT Al Pastor. Like I have compulsively ordered tacos Al Pastor everywhere in this city and in Mexico City and in Guadalajara and like this place nails it. They have the real deal meat spindle so you get the perfect mix of crispy and saucy, and they throw down with the pinapple in the mix like the PERFECT amount..... plus amazing licuados (tried walnut and it changed my life) and this uhhh fermented pinnapple drink that was super refreshing and a new flavor to my life. This place has so many things I love about the neighborhood in one spot, there was a kid selling chicles who managed to make a couple bucks off my guy after dinner and he was all smiles- friendly staff that encouraged me look around like a goony tourist without the least bit of stank vibe.... ok so please go support this place but dont mess it up by like telling everyone!
Love there food and their service ❣👌
This place is the real deal - the food is definitely authentic Mexico City style. As soon as I saw the menu, I was transported. The tacos are served with cilantro and onion. They also serve tacos de canasta. I love their vegetarian options as well including nopales (cactus) and flor de calabaza (pumpkin flower), and the lemonade is out of this world. My mouth waters just thinking about this place!
Best tacos! I felt like I was en el DF!
Best tacos ever! Liquados are fire
Best tripas tacos in the city, plus they have tepache and much more.
Everything was fantastic, special shout out to the cochinita pibil which was the best Ive ever had
This is another great neighborhood place. A no frills restaurant/corner store with excellent food. I have worked my way through the menu, having had everything except for the tripe and brains. I love the tacos de canasta, the tacos (campechano and el pastor especially), the huaraches, and the agua frescas. I havent had the liquicados but I am sure they are great too.
Amazing place to grab some exceptionally great tacos. Trust me theres a lot of places to choose from in the area, and just in Chicago as well but this place you will not be making a mistake by coming here. The tacos are succulent on flavolll. Also I should add they only serve tacos, huaraches and tacos de canasta which hail from el D.F. .. Provecho!
Love this place it is small but they have the best tacos. And there green salsa is the best
My girlfriend says they have great tamales, you need to call to order them ahead of time
My boyfriend and I always go here on our date nights! They have the best tacos!
My favorite place to eat tacos
It was amazing! Food was bomb! Service was bomb.
Authentic Mexican food at Authentic Mexican Prices!!! Dam Delicious n Dam Worth it!!!
Cosy but busy at lunchtime, honest, good food, tacos, burritos, nachos, salsas, etc. All hidden away in a corner store front. Pity no alcohol.
Best tacos in the area. Love the fresh juices too.
Really good tacos. Try the fermented pineapple drink.
