Not really an authentic Italian experience, but still excellent. The food from the restaurants are fresh and delicious. We spent too much time food/wine shopping. They also have a bakery, butcher, and even fresh pasta to take home. Tons of imported goods and good staff. Clean building. Would recommend to pasta and wine lovers. A great place to meet friends or fun for a first date.
Had the pesto prosciutto pizza for dinner. Thin and chewy crust. Very lightly brushed with pesto and 3 cherry tomatoes cut in half. 3 slices of prosciutto on top. This is what a $32 pizza gets you at Eataly. Way overpriced. And that was to go not even served at tables. Eataly has a lot of produce In store but it is expensive and what I call a tourist trap. Great selection of wine and olive oils and cheese and cured meat, but expensive. Be my guest if you want to spend $130 for a family of four eating small pizzas with not much ingredients on top. Worth stopping to look around. Watch your budget.
Iโve heard nothing but great things about Eataly and knew I had to check it out the next time I was in the city.To start off, I got an Italian soda which was awesome! Iโve never had Italian soda before so being able to try that was amazing! The bread service was small, but if you order an appetizer (like we did), itโs the perfect amount. Our appetizer was the peach bruschetta and it was AMAZING! The whipped ricotta and the peach jam on top of warm, crispy bread was just to die for. I honestly would go back just for that. If youโre in the mood for a traditional bruschetta though, this may not satisfy you, but you should still try it because itโs simply perfection. The pastas we had (pomodoro and lasagna) weโre both cooked to perfection and had plenty of flavor. The portions look small, but itโs definitely enough to leave you feeling satisfied and full!We will definitely be back the next time weโre in the city! Thank you Eataly!
Many positive things toene this site. The location is perfect, if you move by train it is very practical, since the train station is very close. The place is very big, two floors full of Italian things. The food is divine, very very very exquisite. A great wine list. The prices are excellent. All the staff are very friendly . Recommended
Dined at the Osteria di Eataly - one of the 3 restaurants at Eataly Chicago. If you are someone who appreciates authentic Italian cuisine, this is a really good place. Ambience is pretty but reservations are highly recommended. The Eataly marketplace selling pasta, olive oil and other Italian items is a good plus too.
I love Eataly. My only tiny complaint is for the desserts..I got home and they were touching/overlapping each other since the little plate holding them was slippery. Other bakeries would tape each pastry down on the bottom of the box so it prevents it from moving around. Other than that, everything else is top notch.
Very good fresh tagliatelle pasta dish, pizzas and bruschetta at restaurant! Server Ruth super sweet, too! Great prepacked salami, charcuterie, antipasti selections.Buuuut... walls, signage, dry aged case, etc. REALLY needs updating, very beat up, and hostesses shouldnt set cleaning stuff, wipes right next to poured, uncorked wines. All fake foliage adornments, really needs some fresh greenery, plants!!! Of course, cant taste deli meats, so that sucks too and women working there couldnt say which ones were new, fresher, or recommend ANY. Enjoyed this place MUCH MORE 6-7 yrs ago.
Eataly is a perfect place to take someone who is visiting Chicago. I suggest expecting to just walk around and shop. Itโs mostly grocery, so it may be a good idea to grab a quick snack from Eataly if youโre walking around with a guest. There are a handful of restaurants that you will need a reservation most likely to be able to sit at if you donโt want to wait.TIP: if you donโt want to get a reservation to sit down at a restaurant in Eataly, I recommend planning to get focaccia instead. Itโs only about 4 to 6 dollars and itโs a really substantial snack or small meal.
This was my first time going there and I will NOT be back. Where do I start? The service was incredibly slow. I asked the waitress for bread, and she was joyful but no bread. Legit had to keep asking someone else for bread. She forgot my order not once but twice. The food was decent, nothing spectacular. I would not pay for the price for the quality of food again. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. I even told the male hostess about it, he made direct eye contact with me and dismissed me. I was really shocked to see how terrible the service and hospitality was. The male hostess though was very unacceptable. I said excuse me roughly about 3-4 times, and he looked at me and turned back to his little iPad. No guests at his station. But after I told him the bathrooms were in the condition they were in, he just nodded. Overall, not a good experience. I spent a total of roughly 65 dollars for meal and parking. I drove about 30-35 minutes and I would never recommend this place with the type of service they had.
This place is one of the finest Italian centers in Chicago. The Italy-like atmosphere is beautiful and well worth coming to.I recently went to Dinner here, and it was a neat experience. Relaxing and great service overall.Afterward, we did a little shopping and took some pasta (and other great things) home. They have original things to take to compliment the Italian experience.
Eataly is a a collection of authentic Italian cuisine. You can sit down in the center and be served food from six different kitchens or you can stop at each individually and get something for takeout. They have a wide range of food but their pasta is where they really shine. I particularly enjoyed their spaghetti cacio e pepe. Their margherita pizza, a classic, was also very good. Service was phenomenal and the place was spotless. We liked it so much we went multiple times.
Come and experience Italy, right in the comfort of downtown Chicago! Who needs a passport when you can walk up and down this place for hours. Order you a glass of Vino, and pretend you are in southern parts of Italy.Wheels of parmesan, wine, olive oils, and cheeses from all over the world. Fresh fruit, meat, and seafood. They even have caviar. The restaurants inside are delicious, pizza and pastas again inspired from all over the world. The meatballs to go are delicious.Every summer they have a great rose event that Iโm patiently waiting on.๐คKD.
We loved Eatalys ambiance and market. Unfortunately we waited 30 minutes for a single Pizza on Sunday at 5:58pm. That would have been fine if our Neapolitan wasnt served stone cold and extra soggy. So apparently its been sitting up there for a good 15-20 minutes for no reason. We didnt have time to make a new pizza order and wait again for another half hour while keeping a hawk eye on our order so they dont screw it up again. If theres one thing a Neapolitan pizza place would know, it would be to make sure the pizza is served fresh out of the oven because it wont last long. The place wasnt swamped and our cashier worker had to go upstairs and fetch our pizza after it had taken too long. If theyre not ready to commit to that, then just dont make Neapolitan pizza, and make reheatable slices. As for the Pizza itself, other than the sogginess and coldness, the cheese was good and the sauce was excellent. The dough wasnt sourdough so it was bland and almost tasteless. Finally, it only came with two single leaves of Basil. They werent even trying up there. We also tried the Pasta. We have a fresh Pasta maker at home and the homemade dough we use makes better tasting pasta with a better bite. The Cacio e Pepe we had must have been drenched in cream because it was extremely heavy despite not being much in quantity, and almost put us to sleep for the remainder of the day. Finally, we had Gelato. The Hazelnut is quite possibly the best weve ever had, and is the only flavor worth trying. The 70% Chocolate didnt taste as dark as advertised, and the Milk Gelato didnt have much flavor to it.
The Burrata e Tartufo nero (black truffle Burrata) with acacia honey was incredible just melts in your mouth! Lemon ravioli with pistachios and honey was a wonderful summer party in my mouth. The Italian coke was a real treat! It reminded me of how I chugged a coke outside the Vatican on a HOT day after our tour. I do miss the Nutella bar though:( Brought back some lemon cream cookies that reminded me of wonderful memories in Sorrento:)
What awesome place to go too!! I LOVE pasta, so my husband took me here and I was in heaven!!We got upstairs to the restaurant area and saw that you needed reservations!! But I asked if we needed reservations and the hostess was very nice and said No maam, we can sit you now!!. Our waiter Ruben G. Who took care of us was very nice and very polite. My husband and I had a nice dinner while visiting Eataly!! We will definitely come back here.My husband had the Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe and I had the Penne Alla Norma con Ricotta Salata!!
An outstanding Italian market. All types of cheeses, meats and casual dining fare. Multi-level. Staying in a hotel on the River? Grab some cheeses, wine and meat and bread/crackers and enjoy an impromptu meal in your room at night overlooking the Chicago River. Cant be beat for the price and the views. Great place to shop.
Excellent place for Italian food. Informational signs, deserts, and some of the best ravioli we have ever had.
I made reservation and arrived to find they were changed; I was told โthings change!โ Then the waiter came over and was friendly at first, but as soon as I said no to a $60 bottle of wine he and his waiter staff started watching me and standing behind walls sneaking peeks at me. I was with my daughter whom Iโm visiting ahead of thanksgiving, so I did not want her to see my disgust and irritation with the wait staff sneaky looks and unwelcoming behavior. My advice, be ready for a menu that Is HIGHLY overpriced and a staff who themselves would not buy a $60 bottle of wine, but looks ugly at you because you are not STUPID enough to buy it. OVERPRICED AND SNOOTY AS HELL. Deserts on the lower level- AMAZING. Restaurants- overpriced and staff sneaky. I was hopeful my food was safe. I did like that a very gracious man came from the kitchen to serve my meal and Not that waiter. I would not eat there again.
Eataly is an amazing experience. A must stop shop and dine. You can do that Soo many different ways. Order a perfect Neapolitan pizza and sit outside, sit inside, or stroll and eat. The store itself is two levels. The gelato shop has some of the best gelato hand made right there, next door is the chocolate and desert area. Tons of kitchen gadget items that you need one of everything. Upstairs is an amazing butcher hand made pastas,. Mozzarella made and stretched right in front of you. The wine selections puts Binnys to shame. Again this is a must stop place. Parking is free the first hour if you validate now also. And its a easy block walk from the grand red line stop of you exit on state street
Service does not match ambiance and price. Server spent only seconds at the table for our party of four. Brought a bowl of olive oil with no seasoning for skimpy bread. Food was good, no offer of fresh Parmesan or ground pepper. Loved the meat and cheese counters. Better of buying to go and avoid dealing with their wait staff.
This was my second time at this location. I Needed to hide out for few hours before my train. The staff was very accommodating as I was traveling with my luggage . I grazed and enjoyed every bite. Although the menus was limited I found my culinary journey just as rewarding as my first. Bravo!Eataly wonโt disappoint your need for fresh pasta partnered with one of the best Kale ๐ฅฌ Salads ever. We found the service to be exceptional. Save room for pastries and gelato ๐ง!!

Possibly the most authentic experience of pasta Iโve had! The flavors were there! Beautiful market with lots of cheeses, jams and other products! Every major city needs one of these places!
Poor Italian food was not all that not even good taste wont go here no more unless is the market
Total Ripoff! The Rossopomodoro pizza that you get on the main floor is terrible. The crust was soft, the tomato paste and the cheese had no flavor, and the prosciutto was more like American ham, not Italian at all. Service was fine, but that doesnโโt make up for the inferior quality of the food. Donโt lie to yourself into thinking itโs ok because you just paid $24 for a piece of junk.
I ordered pizza and pasta. They gave my orders to someone else, so i had to wait a while to get food. They had pasta ready, but no pizza so they ordered a new one for me. They couldโve given me pasta first, but didnt even bother to ask so i had cold pasta with pizza. Pizza dough was very tasty and chewy but wish they had better service.
Jerome was fantastic! He explained the specials and offered suggestions that were perfect for us! The food was fast and delicious! We cant wait to come back!!!
Do not enter hungry!! Great place to shop, dine and enjoy. You must try the outside dessert vending machine. Yum!
I have lived in Chicago for 5.5 years and for the first time visited the Eataly on Ohio St today. Our excitement quickly turned to disaster. We were greeted politely by the security guard and directed upstairs for dining. Whilst waiting in line to speak with the hostess a child had a full tantrum/meltdown to which our hostess rudely directed the parents to remove the child to the bathroom. When it was our turn to request seating said hostess (older, short, extremely short haircut, and bulky in stature) chastised me loudly after I asked to be seated somewhere close to the bar where there were no children. She kept insulting and judging me loud enough and long enough that other patronโs yelled โGet this guy out of here.โ I pointedly reminded her that she was judging me regarding the same child she just told to be taken to the bathroom so she herself wouldnโt have to deal with any longer. After that she stopped and we were finally sat at a table where I was so physically upset that I was nauseous and unable to eat.To calm my nerves I ordered a vodka martini (my friend had a glass of wine) to which I was told would be difficult and imposition to make b/c we were dining at an Italian establishment. Iโve dined at many Italian restaurants over the last 5.5 years of living in Chicago and not one made me feel like an imposition for ordering a vodka martini. I let Hector know to cancel the order (which he didnโt) and that we would like to pay the check and promptly leave. After about another 10-15 minutes we were finally able to settle our bill and exit. To his credit our server was overly sincere and apologetic when we explained the situation that happened with the hypocritical hostess. He was hesitant to provide her name so I can only give you her physical description above to identify her.To say this was a failure in quality of service is an understatement. I will never bother this restaurant with my business again, and I will encourage every single member of my family and all of my friends who visit going forward to avoid the same.
Good place. I was recommended to visit this place to buy two brothers brewed beer which was only available here
Wonderful place but if you want to eat at La Pizza & La Pasta restaurant, dont forget to make a reservation otherwise youll find yourself in a two-hour waiting list.
I came here for an industry investors party during the 2015 Intersolar Show where my company was exhibiting. It was just as exciting as I anticipated! Swanky spot, great layout, upscale ambiance, amazing selection of wine. For the party, they had waiters and waitresses walking around with nice appetizers. The wine was broken down by category at different stations. My Dir of Investor Relations and I had a great time walking around and at the Needham party in general. Great choice and venue! I hope to return for any future events or for a happy hour.
Exceptional food. My only comment is the Togo order packaging and order preferences. I asked for extra basil on my orders, and none was added to the order on two of the dishes. The plastic container top was melted into the dish The chocolate chip were really good.
Wonderful place for all things Italian--wine, olive oil, cheeses, meats.. You name it.Sylvia in the olive oil section is the best!
Beautiful store, but if you plan to eat, donโt eat upstairs instead eat downstairs because itโs pretty much the same food but youโll pay a lot more. I had the fried calamari, pasta with clams and Italian soda, my lunch bill was $67!!!
If you love Italy ๐ฎ๐น, you will fall in love with Eataly!! They have wonderful sales...right after the holidays and several pop-up sales throughout the year.
This is the spot worth driving 4 hours for lunch, dinner and shopping. But dont stop there grab some wine and supplies while at it.Pictured Muscles Salad and Italian style pizza.
Beware of dishonest servers who would recommend over-priced โspecial of the dayโ and not tell you how much. You find out when you see the check. On top of that, our waiter was not attentive. After we ordered, he only showed up to give us our check. As far as pizza goes, Roberts is so much better and reasonably priced. Never going back.
I do not recommend this place at all. There was a bug and a piece of hair in my food. The staff was ridiculously rude, selfish, and did not care to address the situation. I didnโt ask for anything. I simply wanted to share what happened so that they would correct the problem before it happens again to another customer. I spent several hundred dollars and this is ridiculous how rude I was treated. Just because you are a large company doesnโt mean you shouldnโt cRe about the customer that helps makes you this big. I will never go back. The ice cream was very nasty.
I feel ashamed that Ive lived in the city for three years and it wasnt until this moment that I ventured into this amazing location. The food was spectacular, the options were limitless and the environment made it a total experience. My wife and I will certainly be back.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE FOOD!! So yummy and delicious! I purchased the Barada and bread!
This place is phenomenal and has pretty much every type of Italian food product you can possibly think of.Their cheese and deli department is absolutely spectacular, and their collection of Amaros and bitters is quite impressive, among many other things. Expect to pay premium price though, too.
This place feels like Iโm Italy, food and dessert are super delicious Spey on the 1st floor .
Disappointing dining experience. To start off, the bread was served in a cheap paper bag instead of a basket like most Italian places and was served cold and was tasteless. The spaghetti in marinara sauce was okay, but the sauce lacked flavor. I ordered tiramisu for dessert, which tasted okay, but was poorly presented. Overall, a hopeless dining experience.
Worth the hype. Great food. Multiple things to do inside like shopping, buying baked goods and yes of course...eating! Nice authentic Italian food and products
Wow! We were so impressed by Eataly! After enjoying Cappuccinos, croissants, pasta, wine, gelato, and authentic grocery, we were so pleased and impressed! Expect to pay a bit more because everything is of the highest quality! If youd like to eat upstairs, make a reservation! :)
Cool place with a lot of specialty items from italy!
Beautiful experience. Its really more than just a restaurant or your typical eating place. I am glad to have visited, its a memorable place for sure. Service could have been better.
Amazing place, so fun to browse around at all the things they offer. Great wine selections and their fresh produce looked wonderful. The restaurant upstairs is a great place for lunch. The service is always good and their pizzas are amazing!!
Excellent destination to experience all things Italian. Many different foods, wines and desserts all under one roof. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The interior layout is changed frequently which keeps the experience fresh for returning customers. Also a great place to find specialty Italian items such as cookies, soaps, kitchen gadgets and more. Many items are unique and would otherwise only be found in Italy. Two coffee bars, one on first floor and one on second floor. Also has a fairly well stocked grocery area with specialty cheeses and many more items. Excellent wines by the bottle and by the glass. Prices are very expensive but quality is very high. Definitely a must see.
Such a great concept, never looses itโs appeal when visiting Eataly. Food and drink options are always wonderful and plentiful. Meals to go or stay and eat inside are the options ( few tables on sidewalk).
So much fun! I could spend hours shopping there and you can have a glass of wine while you shop! Fresh pasta, desserts, meats, seafood, everything Italian you can think of.
We went to the dessert bar and enjoyed selecting our treat so much! So many choices and the prices were fair. We even came back again the next night to grab dessert after dinner! Many other neat foods, gelato, wines, etc were available, also. Definitely recommend!
The margerita pizza is fire. Tastes very authentic!
Always epic
Amazing service! The manager Ryan is outstanding, he open a table for us 2min before closing. The food was great quality and prepared to perfection. Eris took care of us being profesional and patient. Amazing service and great food!!
It was delicious and so fresh. Great service (Angel) we will go back again.
Beautiful place with good food. Itโs a great fast paced atmosphere inside a large store on an upper level. We sat right at the kitchen and enjoyed watching chefs cook. Great experience.
What a cool place! Must go. So many neat food and kitchen choices to take home and lots of food to order and eat in. Wine selection is killer.
Still the best! Food is sooooo good. And amazing shopping, albeit a bit dangerous.
If Im paying over $20 for a pasta plate, at least give me a generous portion. I couldnt believe the baby portions they serve. Wait staff were surly. Two measly pieces of bread with the meal. Pasta and bread do not cost much - if youre going to charge a fortune, at least dont leave customer feeling incredibly ripped off.
We made dinner reservation at osteria the day before Thanksgiving. When we got there our table was not made up and we waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated the tables that were put together for our party of 6 were wobbly and of different heights. Our server was very friendly, but we had to ask a number of times for water refill and our order was incorrect when brought to the table. The food was excellent though. Maybe next time the service will match.
