I normally stop and buy items at Hyde Park Produce when I’m in the area and it has always been a pleasant experience buying at deli.On the morning of October 27, I requested 1 pound of cheese uncut and the deli employee told me that she was sorry but the cheese was already sliced. I asked again and she told me the cheese was already sliced; I did not want the cheese sliced because of my recipe.I was shocked and didn’t understand why she would not sell me the cheese when the point of the deli is to get whatever size cheese, meat, salad, etc. that you would like.If the deli’s new policy is to only sell pre-sliced cheese, there should be a sign stating so.
This was me and my boyfriends first time coming here and we loved it!! Their produce looks phenomenal!! They have their own prepped food section, fresh cut deli meats (were vegan, but wanted to make sure people knew), and a really nice selection of vegan options. I cant wait to go back! Please check them out!!
The best place for fresh veggies in Hyde Park. Tiny place with everything you need. Great prices.
Good neighborhood grocery store with friendly service. I like their products selection. It will not carry the widest variety of sodas or cereal boxes, but thats not what Im looking for. Ive been surprised positively more than once by the availability of various ethnic or specialty food difficult to find in other stores.
My husband and I have lived in this neighborhood for a year and had never stepped foot in Hyde Park Produce until this past weekend. I cant believe how much weve been missing! An insane selection for such a small space. So many specialty items, a deli with a wonderful selection, and attentive staff.
Small but well stocked with multiple food items for foreign cuisines. Hot foods section mediocre. Good variety and pricing in produce. Takeover store from former Mr. Gs to those Hyde Parkers who remember the postal station next door at that time.
I love this place! It’s a hidden treasure for foodies and this who prefer organic. Never a line and friendly/helpful staff.
A good place to get vegetables and fruits in the neighborhood. They have both regular and organic produce. Delivery is available.
Very fresh produce, a lot of variety, mexican, indian, asian products also sell local products like Damatos bakery breads, or local pita bread. The Deli is Awesome plenty of Board Hed cold cuts and cheese and prepared hot food.Their Guacamole, home made peanut butter and almond butter are great. It’s really feels like a neighborhood market where the staff know you and are happy to see You 🥖🍠🥯🌶🍖🥩🍕🧆🧈 🥑 🧀 🍤🥟🥧🍩🍯
Good produces. A little bit far from u Chicago if without a car.
Best prices in Hyde Park! Wide selection of regular and organic veggies and fruits. Other nice grocery products are on offer, so it is more than a vegetable place. Very polite and quick checkers. They almost never have to waste time looking up a code, for they KNOW their produce. I’ve never used their delivery, but friends rave about it. HPP is an important asset in my neighborhood.
Best fruits and veggies! No gmos!!! Love it
The staff is always always cool and nice and very helpful and if you had an area always check them out
Good selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Very polite.
Best produce for miles in any direction.
An AWESOME place to shop for fresh produce that you may not find at a regular grocery store. You shall be pleased. Fresh basil. Fresh rosemary. Numerous types of fresh peppers.... .
My place for fresh herbs and produce. I love shopping here and supporting this business.
I absolutely love how HPPM keeps so much food local, seasonal, and fresh. One of the most affordable options for uncommon produce in the city by far.HPPM has made it so easy and inexpensive to expand my palate with flavors from a host of different cultures and countries and I can’t rave enough about how lucky I feel to have a truly neighborhood produce spot that is right in the heart of a huge city like Chicago.Friendly, helpful staff help me every visit. The store has experienced some improvements over the years, but it is still a small neighborhood spot. I don’t mind the narrow aisles when I realize that means more space for affordable goodies!Neighborhood gem!
Love this place -- All the essentials, lots of variety. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent queue management maintains social distance. Warning: human food only! Go to CVS for cleaning supplies etc.
I have personally felt, this is the best place in Hyde Park to get fresh produce. Have been a patron of this place for several years now. Reasonable prices, quality and fresh products and a wide variety of choices; I have tried some special vegetables like fresh green plantains, cassava, bitter melons, bottle gourds, long beans, snap peas, a wide variety of squashes, etc from here; havent found many of them in near by stores. The staff are super friendly, always helpful and smiling. It is an ideal market that serves the community. Love HPP!!
4.5 stars - great selection of produce, some items are over priced, but overall great grocery
I dont get there often but I just LOVE doing so.Great produce, interesting snack items and friendly and efficient staff.
Always a great experience!
This place is a bit on the expensive side but theyve got a decent assortment of produce.
Awesome and family owned! Come here due to location and convenience. Will continue to come due to fresh produce and delicious bakery. Prices are higher but cannot beat the quality and the friendly faces!
Its unique 😉
They had exactly what I was looking for. Fresh produce and a good selection of vegan dairy options
Hyde park produce is a staple of the community. They offer international food imports and a great selection of produce. You can also order pizzas for pickup with your own fresh selection of meats and veggies!! A shout out to ALL the employees. Very friendly service. Thank Larry!
Beautiful shopping in Hyde park produce store
Wonderful selection, incredibly affordable prices, and just the most KIND and friendly staff. I really really love this store.
The standards have went down in this store. The management does not manage social distancing in this store. The one black lady at the deli counter is kinda rude as well
Found some fresh produce I was looking for. Keeping it local.
I really, really enjoyed shopping there. I enjoyed the selections and the intimacy of a smaller shopping area
I love this store. High end, quality is awesome. Good customer service. There are varieties to choose from and it is always well stocked.
They have the best produce
Hyde Park produce market opened today in the midst of everything thats going on in the city of Chicago. Some products were limited and or absent from the shelves. However, this store is famous for phenomenal fresh produce. A spectacular beautifully arranged variety of fresh fruits and vegetables greeted customers this morning.Thank U Hyde Park produce market!
Really unique grocery store. Small but very interesting. A worthy selection of amazing fruits, berries, vegetables. This place always surprises with something unusual, such as Cotton Candy grapes, carambola, kumquat, kiwi berries and much more. There is always a large selection of mushrooms, fresh herbs, excellent pastries, very tasty bread. Prices are not high on average, many products are much cheaper than Jewel. A real gourmet shop! This is my favorite place to shop, although I live quite far away.
Great prices considering that it’s in the city, especially for the greens. The produce isn’t always the freshest, though.
Small enough to feel like a neighborhood market, large enough to carry a large variety. Grest selection of produce! Nice selection of pre-prepared foods. Kind and friendly staff..
Rating 4 stars for now. I almost forgot about this hidden gem of a store in Hyde Park. They carry a wide selection of fresh herbs and veggies + vegan foods as a bonus! I was able to find some of my favorites and stock up on veggie staples without breaking the bank. A better alternative to whole foods with a much better selection overall.
I have been going here for years and it is my favorite produce store in the Hyde Park or anywhere, for that matter. Great selection of produce and competitively priced as well as a broad selection of meats and grocery items. But most of all it is the atmosphere that keeps bringing me back. This place has a great vibe including warm people and positive energy.
My favorite place to shop for fresh produce!
It is a bit grimy but I still liked the atmosphere and community-feeling of this market. The produce is pretty inexpensive and there are interesting products (like bread from Amish country, etc). The other products like dry goods could be more pricey.
No preferred senior time 😳. However, an eight minute wait in line on a sunny 🌞 day is good. As usual, fresh produce and orderly fast service. I always find what Im looking for.
This is my favorite produce market EVER!!! They have everything, including a deli and hot food that is prepared. Also, l love the sliced/cut fruit. One thing that l really like is that they have discounted food. It helps especially if youre living paycheck to paycheck, like me. 😊 The salads are good as well. If there is a negative its that sometimes the fruit sits too long. The people are friendly and will help you. There is s fair amount of turnover, though. In sum, visit. Youll be happy you did. 🍓🍒🍅🍌🍋🍊🍉🍏🍎🌽🍇🍆
Properly keep customers social distance n wearing masks a must.fresh produce everyday.
I love this spot, been visiting it for a long time. they have a nice selection of fruits, veggies, and produce, along with some snaccs.
Kind/professional employees, fresh produce and always in stock!
Im fed up with their checkout policy for covid. I understand why, Im just tired of standing in lines.
Excellent produce market. The prices are very good and they are stocked well. The staff here are also very friendly and accommodating.
Really great local grocery but only for fruits, vegetables, and prepared foods. I would not use this as my only grocery store as some things like meat, cheese, milk, cereal etc will cost you a lot here and the store does not offer variety in those areas. Great variety of produce, hence the name!
Great place for sandwiches and fresh vegetables.
10 years ago, Hyde Park Produce was the first grocery store I started shopping at regularly when I started cooking for myself. I honestly think its a big part of the reason that I learned to enjoy cooking. Its a much better grocery store than any other Ive ever lived near. I recently moved back to Hyde Park, and am excited to be shopping here again. What can be so great about a grocery store?1. They dont spray their produce with water constantly. Produce goes bad faster when its damp. Im sure of it. The produce I buy from HPP always lasts until Im ready to cook it. I was shocked by how quickly cucumbers and eggplant go bad when I started buying them from other grocery stores. The food I buy at Hyde Park Produce lasts longer sitting out in an 80 degree apartment than the food I bought at Whole Foods at my last apartment lasted refrigerated. After seven years of not shopping at HPP, I started to wonder if I was misremembering vegetables staying fresh for durations of time that started to seem fanciful, but I have the same experience of vegetables just lasting longer having moved back and shopping there again.2. Their produce is always fresh. Ive never once smelled rancid greens walking through HPP. This seems like it should be a low bar, but the first place I lived after Hyde Park was River North, near a Jewel-Osco, and every time I shopped there, I walked past greens that I could smell were starting to go rancid. That was the worst grocery store Ive been to on that score, but everywhere else Ive shopped has sometimes had that problem. It applies to all of the vegetables. At HPP, I can grab a vegetable almost at random and be confident it will be crisp and fresh. In the seven years I didnt live in Hyde Park, I havent found another grocery store where I could consistently find crisp, fresh vegetables.3. They have a rotating selection prioritizing things that are in season. This is really nice for two reasons. First of all, the changes give inspiration for changing up what I cook for dinner. Its so easy to get into a rut of making the same few dishes on a rotation, and its nice to sometimes see an ingredient that hasnt been around in a while and think, oh, I can make this without having to put a ton of thought into. Additionally, the things that are in season are often cheaper and better-tasting than they are when theyre out of season.4. Wide selection featuring global options. Ive never been to another grocery store that has as wide of a selection of produce that I consider American staples (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, peppers, acorn squash, etc.) and vegetables that I would normally have to go to an Asian specialty store to find. Relatedly, they have a much higher ratio of different species of food to varieties within a species than most places. I would much rather have more variety of different kinds of things to cook than 26 more varieties of apples to choose from.5. Good prices on most things. Seeds and nuts are a lot cheaper at HPP than most other places Ive shopped. So do most of the produce. (Berries tend to be slightly more expensive for some reason, but the vast majority of other produce is cheaper). Between the difference in selection and the difference in price, I end up spending about half as much at HPP per week on groceries as I would at any other grocery store Ive frequented.6. Good selection of brands. Normally, I would think that good prices would typically be associated with low end brands, but this isnt the case for HPP. The average quality of the brands they carry is much higher than anywhere else Ive shopped with similarly low prices.
I thought it was a legit place in Hyde Park. Much better prices and same quality of products than whole foods right down the street. A better option imo.
Nice place to shop . Prices are moderate . Fresh friuts & vegetables whenever you get to the store .The workers are very friendly .
Great produce and nice prices. Friendly workers.
First time in there and I must say its very nice. The fruits and vegetables look fresh, the store is clean and orderly and the staff is nice
Good selection of produce most of the time. Dinner plates from the deli counter are great and more than worth the price. I am here to stay!!
Clean, good selection of products. Friendly service
Neat and organized store allows for a easy in and out experience.
Love the place, good produce, same employees for years and they are very friendly! Support your local business.
Best little grocery in Hyde Park. We love this place. Very friendly
I absolutely love Hyde Park produce market I can get enough produce for myself that will last me at least 14 days making these huge salads for $25 including the cheese thats freshly cut at the store and all the fresh greens. If your veggies go bad in the week what you buying them you can take it back, however, they will not trust me I love this place is really good for budget and its really good if you have a big family and youre trying to figure out where to get reasonably priced fresh vegetables. The staff is extremely nice they have a spot that serves hot meals in the back as well as cold sandwiches that you can get in a combo. Do not go during rush hour because the store is always packed however it is well worth it if you wake up on Saturday morning when theyre putting the fresh vegetables out and get everything you need for at least a week and a half.
Once again Hyde Park Produce are there to help us out in a time of difficulty; remember when the Coop closed and again when Treasure Island closed? They are always there when we are in trouble, and in between. For the third time during the current crisis I have ordered from them and received a prompt delivery of an order carefully shopped for me. Thank you HOP.
Not enough cashiers at check-out; extremely long lines!
First visit in many years. Interesting but thorough selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Deli section left mouth watering over fresh meat choices. Pricing competitive with larger chains, but family feel tops all for Organic choices.
It was good
An abundance of produce at a great price! Not the best place for dry goods and canned foods price and variety wise. But a lovely community grocery store I enjoy going to.
Great variety, produce freshness and service.
Most products are usually fresh.. The cashiers are really nice.. Theres not enough people on the floor that knows about the things in the store, theyre really just Stock People.. But with no knowledge of what they have or where its located.. Some of those cashiers might but others wont.. I like their soup and their chili.. Theyre already cooked tamales are usually dry Ive got sick from that twice.. I have no idea so I just stopped eating it, I have tried several other cheesecakes and cakes that are really good from the bakery .. I like the store and their products. minor complaints, nothing major period. I wish they were a little bigger,
Get my organic vegetables and fruit.
Every staff member is always filled with courtesy. I have no complaints about this supermarket.
My place to go for groceries. I love its not only fresh, but also cheaper compare to other grocery stores nearby. Easy to access which located in 53rd st in Hyde Park Neighborhood.
This place has hot food if you dont want to cook 7.99 or 10.99 depends on what you get.
Fresh produce and eventhough the lines are long, they move fairly quickly
I usually love to shop here but in several instances fruit has been spoiled or has fungus on it which I realize after bringing it home. Wish they would discard fruit quickly after it has been on the shelves for a while. Otherwise its always a fun experience shopping here.
Reasonable prices on the produce. The Deli is a hot spot. Great lunch options including the hot food selection!
I love Hyde Park produce! I started shopping here two years ago when I first moved into the Hyde Park neighborhood . The price for the produce is fair and its always fresh. The cashiers are friendly and the lines move quickly. I stopped by today to pick up some avocados. I would highly recommend this store.
This is the best place to satisfy my our produce needs with good prices. Shopping here is complete fun. The staff is amazing. I definitely recommend!
A great, local grocery store that carries a significant selection of produce. Their prices are good compared to other stores in the area, but their produce doesnt always last as long. Its a great place to go for making meals from scratch, but they dont have many ready-made meals for more than just one person.
Always clean, fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy products.
Small market with lots of affordable fruits and vegetables. One caveat is that you should purchase and consume the produce rather promptly. The deli has a wide section of cold cuts and cheeses. They even have a hot food section. There customer service is really good.
Wonderful friendly people, helps the positive momentum to continue once leaving the store
Their fruits and vegetables are always fresh.
Our favorite produce market on the south side! They have a little of everything and its all fantastic quality. The staff are also wonderful and work so hard to make every shopping experience a success. :) We will miss shopping here now that weve moved!
Fully stocked and a nice selection of deli items.
Amazing customer service. The girl at the counter was friendly and happy. The store was organized, bright and diverse. Its worth a drive over.
Ive always liked this place.. pricey YES..fresh Definitely,!!! Has unique products tho. Little pricey yet quality. Good deli area too
Best place in Hyde Park to get produce. Large vaeiety of fruit and veggies at very affordable prices. Make sure to get their gift card to harness 10% discount on your purchases there.
Great place for produce. Price match with the target next door to find if some things might be cheaper there but generally this place is very good at offering groceries at a reasonable price. Support local stores if you can.
I have been going to hyde park produce for a couple of years. Today a manger rudely asked me to go back outside at 7.56 am because they dont open until 8am. Never my intention to walk in early but I saw a man walk into the store before I did. Should be a better way to address issue like this. I guess its time to find a different market.
This produce store is great! HOWEVER, they dont carry simple stuff like BEET JUICE! How are you a produce MARKET and not carry beer juice? Prices are more reasonable than expected and the deli always looks fresh and amazing! Try the guacamole! ❤
They had what I wanted, Emmenthal Swiss cheese. It is delicious. Looking for fresh fruits and vegetables and snacks this place makes my mouth water.
The best market in Hyde Park! Reasonable prices for a small market, better then Treasure Island for sure. Great products, excellent staff, and the deli guac is home made daily! The discount produce shelf is a wonderful cheap way to get your dinner figured out, or grab apples to feed the squirrels. :)
Great location with lots of parking
Wonderful store for produce, and the deli is full of delicious items. Great selection of bread, milk, cheese and yogurt.
Prices kinda high. Since treasure island closed its super packed. Staff always super helpful and very sweet. Been coming here for over 25 yrs. Veggie selection is varied and affordable.
Friendly, cordial staffs, they have various import. Items from various nations and its amazing!! Their produce is the best in town XD
One of my favorite local grocery shops. They always have a great selection of organic fruits and veggies. They have a small hot bar, which is really good.
