This is my neighborhood yarn store, and I love that its well stocked with quality yarn. They offer classes on knitting and crochet, and are easy to get a hold of via email and phone. Once the pandemic hit, they hold regular Instagram Live sessions and moved their classes/clubs online. There is no way one can visit this store without spending at least a hundred dollars on goegeous yarn. They stock up on needles, hooks and other items one would need to complete a project. The staff is knowledgeable and help you in the buying process. They even ask you which pattern you want to follow so they can guide you through the maze of yarns available. If budget is a concern, you can certainly be upfront and they will try to guide you to the yarns that fit your price point and pattern. I have nothing bad to say about this store! As with other yarn stores I have frequented in Sweden and the Netherlands, this store has staff that just want to infect its customers with a sense of optimism and share their passion for the hobby. This is especially great for beginners who are struggling. No question is too stupid for them to answer!

Super friendly staff. They helped me get my first projects started. I didnt feel dumb asking them basic questions because they were so nice and helpful.

First, I just wanted to begin this review by saying that Lynn and her team at Knit 1 were incredible!! I contacted Lynn to inquire about a crocheted blanket for my mother. Due to the complexity of the blanket, no one, including other knit/crochet chops in the area, would take on the project. Lynn took one look at the pattern and ensured me that she could do the job. And she was right!! The blanket turned out beautifully. The craftsmanship was truly outstanding and I was very pleased with the final product. And my mother loved the blanket!! I would definitely contact Lynn in the future for other projects.

This store is one of my favorite places to visit! They have amazing products and have built such a great community. The owners and the staff are also all so wonderful..

What an incredible store! First of all, the shop is beautifully laid out and colorful with some incredibly cute and homey touches! Its warm and inviting from the minute you step in the door. Allyson was so helpful in thorough in picking out yarn and necessary supplies for my first knitting project. I will certainly be back (again and again Im sure!)

Knit1 is awesome! Theyve always got the right yarn for the job, and the staff are knowledgeable not only in helping me select yarns, but also with patterns and whatever project Im currently working on when I go. They have open knit nights where anyone can show up and craft in the company of other crafty folks, and get in-the-moment help with tough patterns, color choices, etc! When you need more in-depth help with a project, theres also a knit night just for that! The folks who work here are hilarious, kind, and experienced knitters and teachers. And the yarns Knit1 carries are excellent quality, a lot of them hand-spun or hand-dyed. Generally such a wonderful, homey feel to this place!

This is hands down the best knit shop Ive ever been in! And its not just because they have a gorgeous selection of amazing yarn - its also the staff! Everyone is so warm, friendly and helpful - especially the owner Lynn. And as an added bonus the shop itself is beautiful, cozy and peaceful - just like a well-knit sweater. It was designed by Robert Rud of Hawthorne Home, right next door.

This is a solid yarn store. It is not huge, but for its size, I find the selection to be quite good. I have also had good experiences with customer service at knit 1. I went in recently looking for a yarn for a herringbone stitch blanket Im knitting, and one of the women who works there directed me to a yarn that ended up being perfect for my project. Im a little surprised by another review that said there were many other yarn stores to choose from on the north side. The only other one I know of is Nina, which is a nice place, but has a truly tiny selection. By comparison, Knit 1 is a fully stocked shop--really glad to have this store in my area.

BEST knit shop in Chicago. Community, gorgeous yarns from near and far, classes, or expert advice on the spot. Lynn has created a lovely, inviting space...just like her.

The proprietors of Knit 1 are always knowledgeable and super helpful when it comes to choosing a specific yarn for a project. They ask questions to narrow down the options and then make suggestions in various price ranges that will work. They are also quick to assist if I get stuck interpreting instructions or if Ive made a mistake in my project.

Great selection of yarns and knitting supplies and a friendly, yet not overbearing staff.I recently started taking one of their classes and have really enjoyed it.

This knitting shop is a frinedly place. The owner and her clerk are very knowledgeable. They have very unusual yarns, They are always available to hlep you out with your latest project.I love going tto the shop sitting and knitting my latest scarf.

The staff werent friendly at all the two times I was here. Thats okay though, there are better knitting stores around the north side.
