Dark Matter has been a staple of my coffee life since they opened back in Chicago in the mid 2000s. Electric Mud is located in Bucktown and Chocolate City is EVERYTHING! It’s the best ice coffee I’ve had to date. They even sell it in growlers to go. Their merchandise features artist. And they ship their coffee across the US. I’ve purchased closing gifts for real estate clients and their coffee is always a hit!

I love trying unique drinks and decided to try a special latte but I can’t remember the name! I know it had sage in it. It was very subtle and smooth. A very tasty drink for fall! You can order ahead from their app for faster service.

A great place to chill out! Every time I visit this coffee shop, I feel a different kind of comfort. I am a huge lover of their icy mocha. It is well worth your time to visit this location, whether alone or with friends and family. No one can compete with their excellent client service, good coffee, and reasonable prices. Strongly advised!

Awesome place! The location is great, the decor is amazing and the lattes are pretty good! Maybe a bit too sweet for my taste but that doesnt make them bad. So, if you feel like having a nice sweet latte beverage, this is your place to go

Always 5 stars, easily top of the list of coffee places in chi.I love the Dark Matter brand and frequented Meddle almost daily before moving neighborhoods(open up in printers row please)! My only complaint was that service at this location was very slow compared to the usually speedy service at Meddle, where they put emphasis on espresso only orders so that its timely and fresh, preparing them even before or during more complex drink orders, even those placed prior to espresso only orders. Or maybe thats just Meddle and I was spoiled there. 😊Observational query:Why does it take like 40 seconds to finish a card transaction on any of Dark Matters POS system?

Very friendly staff and cool interior. The pourover was huge (16oz). There isnt a whole lot of seating in here, but I suspect that most people who frequent this place order coffee to go. This coffee shop has a lot going for it, but relative to my own tastes it wasnt quite what I was looking for. For many others though, Im sure this would be a wonderful spot to visit! Very cool shop, and Im glad that I tried it while in Chicago.

Really great coffee, great vibe and look of the place itself.Also! They have an option of soy milk along with the regular half and half, which is a very kind thought, which other places should have.They also have really fun merch for coffee and things for it.And hot sauce, too.Definitely recommend.

This is a nice little in and out coffee shop. The product is good but of course, high priced. Wouldn’t say the pastries are anything to brag on and there’s not a lot of seating, but if all you really want is a very good cup of coffee, this is a decent spot for you.

My favorite roastery in Chicago, possibly ever. If youve been to the Mothership, Star Lounge, etc. this is their Logan Square location right under the Western Ave Blue Line stop. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, consistent quality, and did I mention they stock Do-Rite donuts?!?

At 9:30 am they were almost out of doughnuts. It was Saturday!

It’s my favorite. Why? It’s the best coffee, point blank simple. Here’s a baby satellite location that has everything you could want. Small and efficient. The guy with the red hair is a master barista hope you run into him.

Dark Matter definitely has high standards for their locations and this one does not disappoint. I love the theme & decor. Vibe is very chill, employees are friendly. Only thing thats weird to me is they dont *always* carry the agave latte, which I always thought was a DM signature.

Great coffee shop in an area where coffee shops are abundant! The bourbon barrel aged espresso is very unique and makes for an interesting red eye. Even their drip coffee is good. They have their cold brew on tap; the nitros are awesome. Staff are very friendly and there are some, but not many, seats/tables in the shop.

Really happy to have a location here near my house. Its really nice inside, but seating is limited. Quick service and easily accessible. Watch out, some drinks come out extremely hot and the lids might not always close right. Ive always been a huge fan of Dark Matter coffee and will continue to support them.

This is a great coffee bar! Limited seating (about five to six two-seat tables) I got the barrel aged mocha and it was so delicious. Lighting and decor are fun. 10/10 recommend.

The people that work here are rude AF. I’ve been here twice and have been basically yelled at both times. First, because there’s only one person allowed in at a time and I came in behind someone, second because I didn’t order at the “right spot.”Jeez

I woke up early so I could hop off the Blue Line along my commute to pick up a Secret Santa gift. The level of customer service I received was unlike anything I’ve experienced at a coffee shop. One of the baristas came out to help me choose a camper mug for my colleague, and the other barista found a Dark Matter sticker from his own collection to add to my gift. Once I checked out, the barista who’d helped me pick out my gift gave me the coffee I ordered for myself free of charge!
