Just walked in for a short break during the rain while walking on the adjacent 606 park. Cool coffee roster, in a very unique building. Very good coffee, food and nice atmosphere. Also a good place to just sit and read.

My friends and I enjoyed great coffee and tea from Umbria! The cafe has great prices for the area and is big! There is lots of seating. I enjoyed a dirty chai latte. My friend loved his lemon poppyseed muffin. The workers were extremely kind and patient. There were only two of them but they still got our orders out quick and did not mind my questions. Thank you for great coffee!!

Amazing coffee and scones. The cafe al Pepe is my favorite drink for a sweet and peppery latte. I tried the lemon apricot scone and it was delicious and tasted freshly baked. The inside is a huge roastery with nicely spaced seating indoors and out. Plus, you get a piece of chocolate with each order!

I love it. Great atmosphere. I like how they have roastery and cafe which makes the smell inside really good. They serve free chocolate with coffee. Many different type of tables.

Highly recommend for grabbing coffee with friends or just coming to work. The space is really cool and the roasting equipment being out in the open gives it a super industrial feel. Cool place. Would definitely come back.

Cool roastery with comfy working area. The staff was friendly and fast. A well lit interior, this would be a great place to work even on a cloudy day.There were various baked good for snacking, but I did not see a meal menu.

Industrial space with a coffee roastery and intimate café. Each espresso drink comes with a small bar of excellent chocolate. Well worth the visit.

The staff here is super friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They do tastings of things if you want to try something or can’t decide what you want. The cheat sheets for the different roasts can help you find something that you like. The cappuccino I got was so delish. One thing to note: the majority of their options are blends, not single-origins. The space is modern, bright, and industrial.

Its not because this place has excellent coffee (it does), nor a great vibe (yup), nor a cool view of the roasting operation (spectacular actually), nor a quiet area to chat (yup), nor nice latte art (check), nor even the Seattle roots that I like it. Its the people like Antonio that make you feel special and understand why you came. (Sorry about all the nors).

I love this coffee! I switched to decalf about 2 years ago and i found this decaf to be the best tasting coffee around! I buy bags of beans for home and if you go on a Friday morning to purchase your beans, you get a free cup of coffee. So get going and try umbria coffee! The baristas are super friendly and courteous.

This coffee shop is absolutely stunning. The cleanliness of this place should be what others should strive for. The coffee and service is out of this world. This is my new favorite coffee shop. If you are in the area, I highly suggest making this a mandatory stop. The staff are friendly and will answer any question you may have. Their Americano and their regular drip coffee are the best I have tasted, and will likely be the best you will taste.

My first visit here and it won’t be my last! There’s plenty of seating in the cafe, but I took my coffee to go. The seasonal lattes are delicious, we got two different ones and shared. The barista was also very friendly and made us feel welcome. Also, if you come frequently, they have a rewards stamp program.

I visited the morning of 10/9/20 and the guy and the girl behind the counter were super sweet, and super fast with everything! I didnt feel silly when I told them I didnt know what a menu item was which sometimes happens when you go to fancier coffee places. Kind, efficient, and relatable staff. The cafe marocchino was incredible and so was the cold brew. Coffee is always made better by excellent service though 🤗

Great espresso and atmosphere, I got a cortado and a lavender latte. The cortado was smooth and creamy, the lavender latte was flavorful and not overly sweet. They also surprised my friend with a few chocolates for her birthday :) great place

LOVE having this spot in the neighborhood! The way the whole place is designed, set up, decorated and integrated into the location is a masterclass in innovation. The outdoor seating is carved into a nook on Armitage Ave for the warm months in the Chi. Its cozy and out of the harsh sun (if thats what you like). Indoor seating is also very space conscious and customer friendly. The staff are informed, courteous and connected to the brand they represent. Very impressed by this spot. Ill definitely be bringing people here in the future

This place is great. When they first opened they were still working out some kinks and the service was really slow (depending on how busy they are it still can bit a little slow). But recently it has gotten much better. I really like coming here for the real modern and well designed interior and the coffee is really good. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, I enjoy talking to them.

Excellent new age Italian style coffee shop. My cappuccino was expertly made and came with a small dark Italian chocolate. Its the perfect accompaniment. Baked goods have been fresh the few times Ive tried them.They roast here on site and you can watch from the lounge. A few table games and plenty of seats fill out the lounge. Never very busy when Ive been in.Cold brew is better than most in the city.

Friendly staff. Very helpful in selecting drink, especially if you dont go to coffee houses often. Large interior, yet intimate feel. Last and not least...a chocolate with your brew! Will be back for sure!

Super clean and friendly staff. My daughter took me to Caffè Umbria for Mothers Day for the first time and our lattes were free. Kudos to Caffè Umbria for doing this on such a special day. Our lattes were excellent. We both are looking forward on going back.

Umbria consistently has great coffee. Sometimes its easy to get used to a massive chain like Starbucks and forget how different coffee can be when you get it from a quality roaster.Go have an iced latte at Starbucks, then drop by Umbria and get one and see if you can taste the difference. I guarantee that you will.Now if you like a more bitter, super dark roast, stick with your Starbucks... If you want a smooth, flavorful coffee thats got more than just bitterness to it - Umbria makes one of the best lattes in town.Its up there with my favorite coffee places in Chicago (I also love Sawada and Sip of Hope) for a good espresso drink!

I really enjoy their coffee and ambiance. There are various seating areas, and big windows that show through to their roasting area. Feels like a European coffee shop with a more industrial feel. The coffee is slightly stronger but not too bitter. Prices are a little high, but they have free refills if you stay. The small room can be loud if there are people talking since it echoes. All the workers are friendly and very nice.

Been there once, love the environment and the entire layout of the place. You can see all the huge machinery for roasting coffee and nice music playing in the background. Place besides being brand new, was really clean, the staff were super friendly and helpful and offered a variety of coffee blends and suggestions. The place was so nice that it looked almost like a museum with art drawings and looked like you can actually tour the place, Love it. I will make this my permanent coffee shop and will recommend to all my friends and family. I love the fact that you can purchase freshly roasted coffee with a huge variety to choose from.

Unfortunately I cant give much more than 2 stars. Bought a bag of beans that were very miss leading. Coffee labeled as a light roast and being apart of of their cupping collection. Ive added a photo for more details but the coffee is a Colombian Huila. Ive had many different roasts from different lots of this coffee before.This coffee seemed good at first mostly cause of the description being a light roast. I was hoping for something around first crack. Nothing with permeating oils of course. This coffee was pretty dark, you could feel the oils on the bean. Not to much of a shine but dark enough where off first glance it was not pretty.Brewed the coffee as a standard V60. Overall not horrible, just not a lot of flavor coming through the coffee, it was slightly disappointing. The coffee wanted to shine but the taste of over toasted toast broke most of the flavors off. Often leaving a lingering taste and coat in the mouth. As the cup cooled it wasnt much better and became more bitter. I would not recommend this coffee roasted by Umbria to anyone who prefers lighter coffees..... despite the description.

This has become my main hangout in Logan Square. I live nearly...within walking distance of my house there are six coffeehouses, all of them top-notch, all of them unique. So, hard to pick just one, but Caffe Umbria is swiftly tipping the balance. Only downside (...and, is it really?) is that on roasting day the noise of millions of beans rushing through tin pipes is practically deafening. Then again...you *are* sitting literally inside a coffee roastery!Caffe Umbrias beans are unique in the city. Very dark, but not bitter, they make an exceptional cup of deep rich flavor. Even the medium roast is dark. And, oh boy, their cortados are perfect!Its a great place to hang out, get some work done, meet friends or talk business, or...enjoy a cortado.

Bunch of my friends and I had been wanting to check this place out for the longest. I finally decided to check it out:It turns out the menu is great!The Staff? Not so friendly. No wonder this place is never packed.

THIS PLACE IS BEAUTIFUL. Seriously. I have not seen such a beautiful roaster in my life, that enamel paint is gorgeous. The shipping crate setup of the interior is really neat.Also the coffee is fantastic, very caffeinated. Still prefer Ipsento when Im in the neighborhood because of the coffee flavors and bean sourcing.

I Went to them in the afternoon I bought some ice coffee cold brew is very delicious had a sweet flavor and one of my favorite new coffee shops to go to so much enjoyed the coffee I ended up buying a bag of coffee and finding out that they roast their own coffee beans they will see me again soon and then I ended up buying another drink just because I enjoyed the coffee very much.

Industrial looking coffee shop, with some interesting machinery as decor. If you like big metal things, like I do, you can sit down and have an espresso and dream youre in the belly of a steampunk beast. This is a working space so no lounging for hours and hours, unless youre comfortable sitting in the straight-backed chairs for that long. The coffee is excellent. Big plus: outlets ON the tables. Just dont spill any liquid on them. Baristas with a nice attitude. Outdoors seating.

I visited Caffe Umbria as part of Yelp Cafe Week. I took note of it as well as another cafe within a 3-mile radius from my apartment, so I figured why not visit when I had the spare time. During Yelp Cafe Week, Caffé Umbria, offered 50% off any coffee beverage purchase or coffee bean purchase, which I recieved 50% off proudly after checking in.To my knowledge, your only option for parking is neighborhood parking which really is not bad depending on when you choose to visit. I would imagine that parking can be horrendous at select times and days of the week including with a restaurant like 90 Miles Cuban Cafe being across the street, but take note of that prior to your visit.After entering Caffe Umbria my thoughts were, Wow! This is legit!. I have never been in a cafe more legit as this. With it being a brewery, the inside feels like a coffee factory combined with a cafe, yet the building exterior will make you think that it is a fire department while driving by, hehe.I visited during morning hours near noon when business just happened to be slow. And post ordering, I kept beating myself up because I did not bring my laptop with me so that I could write inside of my blog, but oh well! It just means that I get to return on a different date, plus try the Ciaccolada Calda that the barista gave me a sample taste of. Describing its taste, I would compare it to a hot chocolate.I have a one track mind because I had already identified what I wanted to order prior to visiting which was the Terra Sana blend based off of its ingredients. And best believe I was dead set on getting it upon ordering, but the sampling of the Ciaccolada Calda gave me an option to try on a different visit.I would imagine that this place can get crowded like any other cafe on certain days and at times during the day, so seating is yet another thing to take in consideration, especially if you are just looking to study, get work done or just enjoy coffee with others.Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Caffe Umbria, the barista was very knowledgeable about coffee entirely as well as the products Caffe Umbria has. I will never look at other cafes the same after visiting Caffe Umbria. From its inner interior to the warm welcome I recieved, I highly recommend this cafe.Thomas G
