The idea of this place is what took us there for my birthday. The prices are WAY to high for what you get but it is the theme and the experience you are paying for I guess. We have gone, seen and tasted now we probably wont go again. The young lady at the window was super nice and helped us to pick and order and also gave me a free donut for my birthday. We enjoyed our treats but took the mini donut and cookie in a to go back to avoid a sugar attack. Overall, it is worth going for a special treat on a special day.
Really cool spot for dessert. The idea of going to a side window at a restaurant is a dope concept! We got the s’mores and Nutella bombolonies which were awesome. Think we preferred the Nutella one but they were both really good. Highly recommend this spot! Went at 2:30pm on a Friday and there was no line
Walked up at 10:15pm. Italian ice machine closed, Shake machine closed. Didnt get a chance to order. We leftUpdate:Friday 4pm, Ordered 2 Italian ice and a Raspberry donut. The icey was well balanced and not too sweet. Same with the Raspberry donut. The Raspberry sauce was nice and tangy. It came witha cute lil drizzle bottle. D.i.Y style donut.
We got the Parmesan fries with aioli sauce and the apple cider drink and an apple pie donut. The fries were definitely the best product Ive tried from here. They were perfectly made with a wonderful crunch on the outside and soft inside. The Parmesan cheese tasted great and their aioli sauce was wonderful too. The apple drink was aesthetically very pretty and I enjoyed the creativity of the toppings. The apple pie donut was great, made fresh and the apple filling was incredibly flavorful while the dough was soft and tasty. Overall was very pleased with the entire meal. Next time Ill have to try a cheeseburger as well!
I’ve seen many people post this location and decided to give it a shot! Though, we had already ate and wasn’t hungry for some doughnuts I got a hot chocolate and my partner a gelato cookie sandwich. We both like it! It was very delicious! Next time we’re sure trying the doughnuts! Staff helped me out as it was my first time ordering and helped me create my order. Overall an above average dessert joint. Slightly on the pricey side but you pay for quality here!
Tried the gelato, it was good but have had better. Not much outdoor seating despite being connected to Bar Siena (sort of keep being forced to order several food items after ordered food from BomboBar which had same food items as well…but I did not include this as part of my rating consideration). Has doggie ice creams!
Its definitely Instagram worthy, but nothing to write home about. We got there at 10pm and had to wait 10 mins to order. We got the fruity pebbles donut, smores donut, cherry cheesecake donut, and red velvet gelato. Smores was my favorite, it came with a squeeze bottle of extra chocolate ganache. Dont think I would go back now that Ive experienced it, but definitely go try it for yourself.
This is one of the places that I loved to go and I did. Before we start, if you are planing to go to have the donuts, shakes, or gelato you would to stand out, because they don’t have place for this service. In side is only for restaurant and par. Wonderful shake I drank that day, really worth to try. I highly recommend to come and get one of those. Delicious, looks nice and have multiple choices. I have here small note for you that, it is kind of expensive if you want to get an order. I see it should be less expensive to be honest.
Holy ISH, this place was so good. The ice cream I had was super rich (which I was in the mood for), and their donut where I could insert my own filling was amazing. SO many different options for perfect delicious dessert.
I tried the hot chocolate here and its VERY sweet. Like in the worst way. It feels like your swallowing milk and a ton of sugar and I thought I became a diabetic. I would come back to try the fill it yourself doughnuts but definitely hard pass on the hot chocolate. It does make for a cute picture tho
Definitely get a bombolini. Salted caramel was divine! It was, by far, what they excelled in. I also tried a create-your-own gelato shake. The shake itself was delicious, but the donut that comes with it was way too sweet (esp compared to their bombolini), and the cookie was hard. This location is just a walk-up window, which was not clear on Google maps, so just a heads up.
Ordered online delivery. I expected the little bottles with the flavors in it. Instead received prefilled donuts with about a teaspoon of filling in each. I basically ate regular dough donuts. The flavors were pretty good I gave three stars due to the little amount of filling and the no flavor bottle experience which is the only reason I ordered in the first place.
I have never been to the location itself, so Im speaking ONLY on the donuts. With that in mind, they were pretty delicious, but left a bit to be desired. However, the banana cream and the cookies and cream donuts that game already prepared were absolutely out of this world.
Whoever says this place is not good is a filthy liar! Jkjk but do you have no taste buds? I took a plane from Florida to Chicago, begged my boyfriend for 2 entire days and even risked my blood sugar to finally get the chance to go to the illustrious bombobar. When we got there, there was a wait but this was kind of expected for any hot spot. It was a swanky little walk up restaurant with an order window and some seating outside (and I believe inside but I am not sure). I got a Cookie Monster hot chocolate which has red velvet cookie, oreo mini bomboloni, cookie monster dough gelato and a bomboloni which is their Italian holeless doughnut and it has a squeeze filling! Their boxes quote Drake saying If youre reading this its too late and I thought it was very clever marketing and I giggled to myself lol
I ordered the double cheese Bomboburger with beacon and parmesan fries and four Bomboloni (Vanilla bean, Cherry cheese cake, Lemon Meringue and Fruity Pebbles& milk) with Caviar (I highly recommend Caviar it was fast and it has free delivery and discount for new users) the fries was delicious but not as crispy as fresh. The burger was indescribable!!! It was fantastic!!! Juicy, cheesy with fresh buns and generous amount of bacon. I highly recommend it.Among the Bomboloni’s I was very exited for Fruity Pebbles& milk but I don’t recommend that :/ but I highly recommend Cheery Cheese Cake and Lemon Meringue because the combination of citric flavor and the creamy, fluffy texture makes them a unique experience that you cannot find else where. I wish they didn’t sugar coat their donuts!
Tucked away on a side street with just a few tables and a serving window, Bombobar is a great stop for dessert while you are in the South Loop. Their gelao is both traditional and creative, and you get large servings. If you are dining in the area, make sure to save some room fo rBombobar and dessert!
Cute place to go for a late night dessert on a date and walk around or sit under the twinkling lights.
I ordered cookie dough gelato and received vanilla ice cream dyed blue with four or five sprinkles in it
Such good donuts yum yum yum love that you can squeeze your own filling. Donuts our made fresh to order.
Very unique place with flavorful donuts. It was hard to find as its just a window on the street. They are part of the restaurant, but you order outside if youre there just for the desserts.I enjoyed the fact these werent just ordinary donuts just drenched in sweet, crazy toppings. The donuts actually had a very good taste. I ordered the pack of 4 donuts with different injectable flavors. I ate one without the flavoring, just to get the true taste of the donut. The shake was just as good. I was visiting from out of town, so went back a few times to try different items. Its a unique place thats worth visiting.
This place is pure magic! The whole place has a really cool vibe to it. Thankfully they have heat lamps outside and we were able to get a seat right underneath one. This place is basically sugar heaven, and all of it was delicious! My friends and I got a bunch of different things so we could try a variety of treats. By far my favorite was the hot chocolate! Putting the whipped cream in a waffle bowl above the hot chocolate so it doesnt melt right away is absolutely genius. I will 100% be coming back here!
Bombolinis were amazing. They were truly delicious and worth all the calories. I ordered the 6 bombolini for delivery. The packaging was great. The donuts were not smushed or anything when I got them.I got the Nutella, vanilla bean, salted caramel, smores, fruity pebble and milk and cookies and cream donuts. Each was delicious. I loved the idea of being able to squeeze the filling yourself.
The salted caramel bombolini, omg GTFOH so good
It was hard to find, we passed it and had to ask where it was, its just a window on the street! They are part of the bar, but you order out if you just want dessert. The dough is very soft and fluffy, I love it! And its really fun to add your sauce, we ordered salted caramel and Nutella, Nutella is not really Nutella, so I wouldnt recommend it, but the salted caramel was amazing. Its a fun experience and I would go back to try the different sauce and the ice cream when its hot again.
Honestly, all the hype about this place set an unrealistic expectation of how amazing it would be. I wanted a Gelato shake but they were out, so instead I got the fried bombo doughbut-ish thing with chocolate Gelato and a Nutella drizzle. You squeeze the drizzle on yourself out of a tiny disposable bottle, which took a while because the topping was too thick for the nozzle. It was good overall, but not the mind blowing combination you hear about. So to me, it felt overpriced but your experience may differ. All in all, I would give it a second chance I think.
I arrived almost 2 hours before closing and they had nothing left. Made a comment about it on their social media and instead of addressing it, they just deleted it. Wont bother coming back.
Good experience kind of pricey but soon good
Some great doughnuts and variety, def worth the try!
The chicken sandwich here is so good I started dancing upon two bites!!! The donuts are decent and hot chocolate is super good. Doesnt disappoint.
It was fun and an overall amazing experience. Well worth the hype that gelato and the Bombo was worth it!
Wow. Take a look at this burger and shake. Ive seen pictures online of this place, and Ive been craving it for months. I finally went, and it delivered. The burger was pretty good, but the place definitely specializes in sweets. The shake, donut, cookie - they were all amazing.Seats are limited though, and service was (mildly) rude to me - hopefully it was just a rough day for them, because Ill be back.
Unfortunately these donuts and gelato are just too much sweet for me! The donuts were okay, but pretty basic donuts, nothing special. The gelato was good, but the charcoal gelato didn’t have much flavor. I wouldn’t go back here, but that’s just my opinion. I gave them 4 stars because the staff was friendly, and the location is cool (it’s a walk up window).
We came just to get one of those cool insta worthy shakes, and I ended up with this. I told the lady I that I wanted something with a bunch of toppings and to be really cool and this, this 4 inch plain Jane drink (that wasn’t even good) is what I got! Seriously disappointed. It was also really watery.
Ice cream was ok, I had the coffee caramel crisp
Nice quick ice cream, no place to sit :D
A very popular spot during nice weather nights. I came on a weeknight and it was still packed. The line was wrapped around the street. I think the ordering can be slightly more efficient but the desserts were “Instagram worthy” and worth the wait. The shakes are good. The donuts were OK. If I go back it would be for the shakes.
Summertime! They have this cool IG-worthy mural. Next time you go, do a boomerang tasting your cream filled donut in front of it. I had the coffee icecream and the swirl because they were out of the popular milkshake. Get ready for a sugar high. They require masks at the order window but its not enforced so youre good to go without a mask (if youre vaccinated)
I love this place. Why have a Hot Chocolate when you can have a Smore HOTTER CHOCOLATE! Their Hotter chocolate is the crazy stacking of sweet (your doctor & dentist dont recommend) things, and wow, was it a great experience and drink!Good news, they have recently installed a sheltered booth outside the hole in the rock, so you dont need to think twice about queuing, instagramming, and drinking this baby in the freezing windy Chicago winter weather!Cant wait to visit them against!
The line was kinda long but worth the wait... I had the coconut toffee Gelato with cinnamon toast crunch crumble and a double chocolate chip 🍪 delicious 😋... I will be back 🙌🏾🥰
Beautiful Christmas decor!!!! Finally tried the famous bombolini and tried the charcoal Oreo gelato. Good thinking with the lamps for warmth. Looking forward to the old town location since this was not an actual structure. This might be petty but the s’mores bombo didn’t have any chocolate drizzle :(
Not worth the prices, but still good. Place is cute and small, which works when its not packed. Luckily I came when it wasnt busy. I recommend going right when they open so you get your bombos hot and room to sit down
It is a small donuts bar... it was my first time there. Staff members are very helpful and explain the menu very well even if you are not a native speaker...I loved the experience...
Super Good! There was a line it took us about 30 min. to get through the whole process, that was around 11pm that we went on a weekday. The person taking our order was so pleasant, despite how busy she was i noticed every customer that went to the window she was smiling and cheerful. Which I really appreciated cause it was our first time and she was nice and helpful with the menu. Finding parking stunk. It is in an area where there are a Lot of restraunts so it was a busy area even 11 at night. But very cool and yummy place.
The name says it all, Bomb!
If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to be. We ordered from computer at a walk-up window. Limited seating was outside only. A few bar stools. Donuts were delicious.
The best hot chocolate you will EVER have - and it looks like a work of art! It’s easy to tell that they use quality ingredients, so it’s worth the price. Try to come when there’s not a crowd, because this is a tiny little walk up spot. The salted caramel hot cocoa was to die for!
Walk up window to order on tablets which could be overwhelming for someone who isnt familiar with the technology, but its faced paced and the treats come out quick! Its a unique experience while in Chicago.
When you are craving sweets this is the place to go. This place is sooooooo good. Great place to cheat on your diet
Ice Cream filled Donuts! Milkshakes garnished with cookies AND donut holes! This place is outrageously decadent but delicious. The options are endless for combinations of donuts, ice cream, toppings and sauces. The valet (in front of sienna) was super nice and the desserts were delicious.
I got a Nutella doughnut and it just melted in my mouth. Along with a hot chocolate, its the best cold weather treat. 😋
Fresh desserts, great taste, amazing view of the city. This is a great place to take people who are traveling/sight seeing, going out with friends, or even a date. I highly recommend the gelato here.
Honestly, too sugary. I ordered the Chocoholic drink. The presentation was beautiful, just too sweet for me. Better off ordering a regular hot chocolate next time.
