Make an appointment online for service.They are efficient and give you an accurate time table and cost. They knew about a problem with ignition switch and had the replacement parts on hand. They have safety measures in place and cover your steering wheel and seat with plastic. Love my Subaru- respect Berman techs.
The customer service is fantastic. First started off by buying engine oil filters, now Im here to purchase the 2021 wrx sti.Updated: changing from a 5 star to a 2 star. Just a heads up if you are purchasing a car from this dealer. Ask to audio record it. Due to miscommunication/confusion between us and the sales rep that was working with us. The sti that Ive been wanting to own for over a decade will not have many of the accessories that I wanted to splurge on myself. Leaves such a bad taste, I honestly dont even want the sti anymore.
Parts. Jason V at the parts department is awesome. Hes extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The parts department has been excellent for over a decade in my experience and Ive gotten a lot of parts over the years. I give them 5 stars.Sales. When I looked for a new car they werent very knowledgeable but were friendly. It is interesting knowing more about a car than someone who is trying to sell it to you. That drove me away. 3 stars.Service. Never had my cars serviced here. I had hoped to. I recently called for an estimate on specific services and couldnt get an accurate answer. Im not a mechanic yet knew way more about my car than the person I talked to and they didnt try finding someone more knowledgeable. 1-2 stars but cant specify quality or cost of work.
I dont know about you all, but Id rather know upfront that an oil change is now $99.62 rather than being told that an estimated cost is $79.95 ($20 dollars off is not necessary a close estimate its just plain misleading). My service was not great, the customer service representative who was helping me was not even paying attention, the milage in my receipt says 12,250, when my milage is over18K. When I asked about the fees, one of the representatives just said: our prices went up earlier this year. Apparently, there are now a COVID surcharge ppe fee, electric doc shredding fees, freight, shop supplies, and waste removal fees in your oil change now. Save a few bucks and just go to Jiffy Lube, Im not sure an oil change is worth it here anymore.
I just got a 2022 Subaru Impreza for lease and the whole process was really smooth and easy. This was my first time going to get a car and I was helped out by Kevin. He was great with communication and answered any questions I had compared to another dealership where they either wouldn’t reply or talk to me as if I’m a hassle to them. We took our Subaru here for a diagnostic on a malfunctioning backup camera screen. They told us it would take one hour; instead they spent three hours doing complimentary inspections we did not ask for or agree to. They then told us they didnt know what was wrong with the system - just that it needed to be replaced for thousands of dollars. They tried to up sell us fixes for all the small things they found in their complimentary inspection, which we declined. We paid $200 for nothing but a we dont know and a massive upselling pitch that wasted half a work day. We can buy and install a new system for less than $500. Do not go here. This seems completely untrustworthy.
I scheduled some regular maintenance before a trip and had an appointment for them to pick up my car. They no-showed. Unreliable. I had to scramble to get an oil change on top of packing for the trip. Later, I ordered a key fob and it required many phone calls and almost 4 months to get an appointment for them to reprogram it. Extremely frustrating. On the day of the appointment I waited 15 minutes to get checked in. They had the car for 2 hours...for a key fob! Wasted afternoon. They seem like nice people but not worth the hassle. Ill take my Forester elsewhere in the future.
Really awesome experience here. Have bought cars from a few dealers and this was by far the easiest and quickest. Josh was the salesperson that answered our call and the one who sold us the car. Hes super friendly and knew all of the answers to the questions I had. We didnt feel pressured at all we came in with a car in mind and left with what we wanted. Super happy.
I had done some research on the Subaru I wanted and decided to stop in the dealership. Lee G. made the process SO easy that I ended up buying the car right then. I have purchased 10 Subaru cars from Berman Subaru Irving Park from 2005 to 2020: 1. Forester 2. Outback 3.Tribeca x2 4. Impressa5. Legacy Sedan 6. Crosstrek 7. Outback x2 8. Ascent.These are for my business and personal use ALL BRAND NEW upon purchase. Ascent 2019 Problem: I was just purchasing a wheel lock for $40.00 the service department said i have to bring my Ascent 2019 car to program the Wheel lock, so we did and waited, then he came to us said if i need a valet key to lock the glove compartment I thought it was just a regular key and the part is available (not mentioning how much will it cost) and the part is available and there will be reprograming of the keys after hours of waiting he said he will order the plate and will call me once the plate is ready for pick up I ended up paying $450. instead of $40., it took more than 2 weeks waiting their call.. did not happen, i have to call them and have the keys reprogram again. This was the first time that i encounter problem, I believe the guy in service department who attended to me has no or less experience and at that time he said less mechanic is available because they were on strike. Out of this frustration and unsatisfactory service, the Brand new Outback 2019 that i purchase on 2020 I was going to upgrade to Outback 2021 model instead I traded with Outback 2021 from other Dealer, so I will not make business again with Berman Subaru Irving Park.
To be perfectly honest, I was dreading having to go car shopping. But Berman Subaru made this such a painless (and enjoyable) experience! I worked mainly with Josh McGee to find and ultimately purchase my Forester, which I am loving so far! I liked that Josh was very pleasant and straightforward throughout the entire process and I would absolutely recommend him to a friend that was looking to purchase a Subaru. Antonio in Finance was also good to work with and guided us through that part of the process very seamlessly and with no pressure. Again, overall, this was a great experience!
On October 8th I went in to Berman Subaru to get a crack on my windshield inspected and I worked with Jeramy Perez from then on till a few days later when I came back in to actually get it fixed. He was extremely attentive, very professional and great to work with. While I’ve never had a bad experience at Berman Subaru with any staff member, he went above and beyond to deliver excellent service. In the future I plan to request to work with him specifically. I love my new Subaru and had a wonderful experience with Josh! He was helpful, attentive, not condescending and very friendly. My only issue was that the car had leftover dirt, trash, and paperwork from the previous owner. When I test drove the car, I had asked for it to be detailed and thoroughly cleaned out, but it seemed like just the paper floor mats were put on the floor and the seats were vacuumed. Other than that, my experience was excellent!

Just walked out of Berman Subaru with my son. This is his first new car purchase. Hands down the BEST car buying experience I have ever had. Kevin was up front and honest and made it a point to make this an enjoyable car buying experience. After visiting a Subaru dealership in Schaumburg yesterday where the visit turned into a nightmare this was a breath of fresh air. Chicago land people DO NOT go to the burbs for your Subaru. We saved $4k and got exactly what we wanted going to Bermans! As my son said while walking out of the dealership “Now that’s how you’re supposed to feel after walking out of a dealership!”

My partner and I went into Berman looking for a new SUV, preferably a Subaru Forester. We were matched with Josh to be our sales consultant. Josh took the time to first hear our needs in our next vehicle (price point, color and features). Josh then showed us multiple options within our price range. After going for a test drive, we decided we wanted leather seats instead of cloth. Josh showed us a Forester with leather seats and he made sure to select one that had an electric trunk. After 2 weeks of dealing with Bart, I was promised a price on a vehicle. I drove 3 hours to buy it, only to have GM say they cannot honor that price. Avoid Bart as your salesman, poor communication skills. Nik handled the situation the best he could when we got there, and I would highly recommend him as a salesperson. He stayed after his shift for over an hour, trying to help make it right.

I gotta share the great experience my wife and I had buying a car from Josh McGee at this Subaru dealership.We came in looking for a specific make, and he provided us with a ton of time to get to know the various trims and options available to us. The test drive was quick and easy thanks to his help.When it came time to make a purchase decision, Josh was patient with us as we considered our different options. He took the time to highlight the different inventory available, and he provided extreme transparency in the pricing schemes. The payments that resulted after the credit check is exactly what was promised.After spending the afternoon helping us, he always gave us his full attention, and we walked away with a new vehicle and big smiles.
Purchased a 2017 Forester from this dealer late last year. We found they had 3 newer tires and one replacement tire on the vehicle. So I was sold a car for one tire tread way off balance from the rest. We also found TMPS sensor never worked, and required a brake fluid change 60 days after purchase. Paying premium at a dealer to avoid these exact issues and still they happen. Not happy.

Do not get your hopes up if using Berman online to shop for a new vehicle. I received an offer from their online sales manager and when I called to follow up with the purchase was told different pricing and and could not get the manager to speak about it. I was even told the vehicle didn’t exist. Just don’t seem like an honest business.
Cant say enough good things about Joe DAndrea and the staff at Berman Subaru of Chicago! I started discussing a used car purchase with Joe online. He answered all of my questions quickly and everything was very transparent. The car was pulled up, cleaned up, warmed up, and ready for a test drive when we arrived. The purchase process was pain free and we were in and out of there in no time. I was unable to drive the car home at the time because of my other vehicle so Joe arranged to have it delivered to my home the same day!!! Told on the phone it would be 90 minutes to have a hitch installed. Showed up and they told us they would call us when it was done in at least 3 hours. Just tell people the truth on the phone, all they want is to be able to plan.
BEWARE/SCAMMERS. I brought my Subaru in for an oil change and they advised I needed new brakes in the rear. I trusted my instincts and had it checked out at another place and they said it was not the case.Trying to gouge someone who is traveling on a road trip, and creating doubt in their mind regarding the safety of their vehicle... SHAME ON YOU!
Well...learned today that Berman Subaru of Chicago are a bunch of scam artists. I was getting my Subaru serviced at this dealership since I purchased my new 2019 Forester. I knew something was fishy - my car requires synthetic oil and they insisted I needed oil changes every 3k miles. I said to them that doesnt seem right because synthetic is generally every 6k or twice a year. Each time I took my car in I asked a different person about this and they said its what Subaru recommends. Well - I took my car today to another Subaru dealership and asked them how often I should get an oil change and they said every 6k miles. Literally showed me what Subaru said on their screen. Berman will never get another dime out of me or my family and will tell everyone I know to not get scammed from these con artists.

My husband and I had not purchased a new car in 20 years so we were concerned about the learning curve that the new cars required. Joshua was excellent! Made an appointment to buy a car and drove 45 minutes only to find out the car was not available at that time! I received an email 15 minutes prior to my appointment time about it not being available. Very disappointed with the service! Very unprofessional! Stay Away! Never again!

I only gave them 1 star because a zero rating isnt allowed. My daughter and I spent 7 hours there today attempting to purchase a very nice older used car. The car was clearly price listed online as $4969 and later in the ad showed $5861 inc. taxes and fees. When we arrived, part of the conversation included our question of whether or not they would honor the internet price, to which the salesperson said absolutely. We then proceeded to test drive it and take it to my mechanic to check over. We were delighted with the car and headed back. In the meantime we received a text from the salesperson to be back by a certain time because they had 2 other people wanting to look at the car. Well we go back and said we wanted it and write it up. When he came back the sales manager had added a $1600 vehicle reconditioning fee for which we of course balked. That started nickel and dime negotiation and in the meantime another sales person comes over and takes the keys so another party can test drive. This became a bidding war to war which we eventually lost because we were paying cash and the other party was financing. The absolute worst car buying experience Ive ever encountered in the 45 years Ive been driving and buying cars.

My boyfriend took his car in to get the oil changed and they said he needed new brake pads when his current ones are less than a year old as well as a new drive belt among other things costing upwards of $2,000. He took his car to an independent mechanic who was straight up and said that his drive belt and brake pads were fine. Ended up only needing less than $500 in repairs.
Last time I purchased a car I had the worst experience and didn’t buy a car for over ten years. The experience with Berman Subaru was exceptional. I had the pleasure of working with Lee Golden. He was professional, transparent, and I felt zero pressure about the car I was interested in. I’m very pleased with my purchase and when I’m ready to buy again, I’ll be heading to this location. Very disorganized buisness. I went there already pre-approved and ready to buy a car I seen they had in thier website for over 8 days. I called and left a voice mail for someone to give me a call back. I did not recieve a phone call back instead I recieved a text message. So I tried calling the salesman back afterwards he did not answer. So then I decided to text him back with a question I had on my trade in. I was finally able to get him to answer when I called back the 4th time. I had asked him if a certain vehicle they had was still available. He said yes it is and readily available. So I set up a time for me to come in and make a deal the following morning. I live an hour away from this dealership. I sent the salesman a text stating that I was in my way, that I would be there in an hour. No reply. I get there parking is a pain around the dealership itself. I go in and the guy I had spoke with was busy at that time. That is understandable, When I was waiting j was looking for the vehicle that I was interested in, I was unable to locate it. I figured it was in the parking lot across the street looked as if there were many cars they had in thier inventory over there. I decided to wait inside for the salesman to finish with another customer. He approached me and appologised for the wait. He then informed me that the vehicle was taken offsite to a detailing place. I had asked him when it would be back. He said not until Monday. I was furious, I drove all the way up there an hour there and an hour and a half back home because of traffic. Just to be told that the vehicle was not readily available like the salesman had said. He then had told me that he would give me a call Monday when the vehicle would return. No text no phone call. To me that is bad business. As a member of sales, you honor your commitments. This sales man did not honor any of the commitments he had with me whatsoever. It baffles me to think that someone whos livelihood is based on making a sale. You would think that he would be working his rear-end off to make that sale. Or at least honor your commitments.
Had a great Experience with Iustin. I made an appointment with him at 11:30 and we didnt have to wait until he was free unlike other dealers. He was honest, straight forward, and not too pushy. The car was in great condition and a great price. They helped me get a great APR for a first time buyer. Highly recommend!

Cindy was a pleasure to work with. Most importantly, good follow up but no pressure. Shared cars over the month of my research to determine if Subaru was the direction I wanted to go. She checked in every 3-5days, showed me both new and Pre owned vehicles that may have met my needs and answered my questions timely in order to better educate my decision. Most importantly, open discussions on negotiation based on other prices I found locally, but could not have beaten their location and service
The technicians here are liars and will mislead/miscommunicate to keep them from having to service issues. My 2013 cross trek had a laundry list of issues involving a valve spring replacement and an engine oil leak that could have been fixed but I was run in circles by these manipulators. Don’t bring your vehicle here and don’t buy into Subaru’s slogan of “love” and “quality”. These vehicles have faulty engines that break down after 100,000 miles.

Short-version:Got charged 3 hours of service for something that can be completed in 1 hour. Total diagnostic/labor cost: $600 (they tried charging me $680 after telling me that the total would be $518). Total cost of parts: $40Long-version:Giving the lowest possible rating I can. All of my car warning lights came on and I took it into these guys hoping that theyd be the best people to handle a Subaru.Of all of the shady, backdoor schemes I can think of, there is nothing worse than charging someone for three hours of diagnostic service ($450) during a recession/pandemic to just tell me that my battery temperature sensor was missing, a part that can be EASILY seen without having to use any kind of sensor or ripping apart my vehicle. They clearly decided it was a giant wiring issue than to just take a look at a longer look before “pin-pointing each and every wire”, as they put it. The cherry on top was them realizing theyve wasted my time and money by telling me that they wont be able to work on it until Friday and suggesting that I should try and get a refund from whoever last serviced my car when the refund should obviously come from the guys who try to charge me $518 for a $40 part.After all that, they installed the battery temperature sensor on Friday, then said that they found a new code that found an issue with the transmission (which ended up being the real problem, not needing a 3-hour diagnostic) which was covered by the cars warranty. Had they found that issues with my transmission sooner or used their eyes to see there was a missing battery temperature sensor, I might not be out $600 from paying an absurd amount in diagnostic charges.They do not reply to calls or voicemails, you will wait an entire day for a reply or simple update request, if they feel like it. You will most likely be forgotten in their voicemail box and not hear back from them unless youre the one who makes the follow-up call. They spend more time replying to bad reviews than to current customer concerns. Good luck friends, youre better off going to the Subaru Autobarn in Joliet.
I had the most positive experience I’ve ever had purchasing a new car from a dealership. There was no haggling, no pressure. I came prepared with my research. Brandon Miller respected my concerns, made me aware of dealer options, provided info on what I wanted and didn’t push what I didn’t. He provided clear information, explaining every step of the process quickly and thoroughly. I appreciated how he answered my questions, addressed my concerns and left me and my wife smiling as we drove off. The gentleman who provided me info on the extended warranty worked with me to get the best value for my money. I love our new black Subaru Forester Touring. Purchased used 2013 Subaru. Took to local dealer for inspection and found both rear struts are leaking, camshaft seal is leaking, passenger rear wheel bearing is bad. So I need to stick over $3,500 into that car. Not frick’n happy! I’m forced to give a 1star when a zero star is more appropriate.

A couple weeks ago I called at 9am on a Monday to set up an appointment for a test drive for an used car at 10am. I was then transferred over to Iustin B. who set everything up and was ready for me when I arrived at the dealer. The whole process was nice and easy, Iustin also was able to get me better rate for financing than the banks I had pre-qualified for online. Overall Im very happy with the whole process and my purchase.

I havent been to a car dealership in 15yrs, and I was on guard expecting an adversarial transaction. I was pleasantly surprised by everyone I dealt with at Berman, from research emails to test drives, sales, and finance. Brandon our salesperson was well informed and helpful, and finance got us a better interest rate than our already good pre-approved bank loan we planned on using. (I emailed our sales Brandon with a question a couple days after the sale, and he almost immediately gave me a phone call and answered my question.) Happy we ended up here, and love the car.
Brandon Miller was friendly, honest, and helpful throughout the leasing process. He returned messages very quickly and produced all information I requested without question. This was a great car dealership experience from beginning to end, and I would recommend Brandon and Berman Subaru in general to anyone I know!

One of the least professional places, Ive ever been. Double check the carfaxes and the cars because theyll say it hasnt been in an accident but there are pain lines, or clear damage to the cars. You leave multiple messages no one will get back to you or answer you calls, and the when you ask them about repairs they never get back to you. This place has lost my business.
I have no choice since this is the closest I have. Service is meh especially after the oil change. People at least meets the standard of customer service. Wish there’s other Subaru close by.

Showed up for an appointment to test drive a used outback. Because the salesman had just sold a car but had somehow lost it, we werent helped for nearly an hour so we just bummed around the lobby sitting in the display models.Once the salesman was finally available, he was completely unprepared to show us the vehicle we wanted. That took another half hour of walking around the lot through all three of their lots until the salesman gave up trying to find the car. We just wanted to test drive a similar car so he went to get the keys for one. Turned out he grabbed the wrong keys and more waiting around in the lot. After nearly 2 hours of being at the dealership, we finally got behind the wheel of a similar outback to the one we wanted just with way fewer miles so we werent actually able to determine if the original car would fit our needs.He offered to reschedule a test drive for another day, we declined.
We were interested in purchasing a Subaru Forester and saw that they were offering 0% financing on this model so we went to Berman Subaru to purchase the vehicle because they were the closest dealer to us. We test drove a Forester and we loved it. We went back in and started the process to purchase the vehicle. This is where we decided not to buy from Berman. First they said the financing offer was only available for well qualified buyers and once they found that we had the credit score to qualify, then they claimed 0% financing was only available on the base model foresters, even though that is not what the ad said that I pulled up on my phone. The salesman claimed he spoke with a sales manager and said he was told there was no way to give us 0% financing so we left. If low financing is advertised, they should of given us that deal. The deal was 0% for 36 month, 0.9% for 48 months and 1.9% for 60 to 72 months. We shouldn’t have been lied to.We are well qualified buyers and we did buy the Subaru Forester Premium, the exact vehicle we wanted to purchase at Berman’s and we got the low financing the very next day at McGrath Subaru. We did not have to beg or argue for the rate that was being advertised until June 1, 2021 at McGrath. I will tell everyone I know that Berman’s doesn’t honor online advertised financing.
I had a simple, textbook bait-and-switch experience.
Got rid of most of my cars issues. Gave the car a nice wash on the exterior. The floor mats however are dirty and have footprints on them.

I bought a used car here ~40 days ago from Jacklyn. It was a pleasant experience compared to other dealerships Ive been to. Jacklyn was personable and reasonable. We had to go back a couple times on price and settled on the higher end of what I considered fair.The car itself was bought used and wasnt thoroughly detailed on the interior but otherwise in good shape.

My boyfriend and I had a great first time experience buying a car at Berman! I always thought buying a car would be a dreadful process and expected to get schmoozed and swindled at every turn, but it never felt that way and was actually quite fun. Huge shout out to Jeanette who helped us decide the exact model we wanted, breaking down the costs, features, add-ons, etc - thanks to her, there were no surprises in the finance room minus deciding on the extended warranty. Julio was great during the financing process - did not take long at all and very transparent. Lastly, Victor was really helpful in explaining all of the cars safety features.Thanks again Jeanette, Julio, & Victor! We love our Crosstrek and have affectionately named her Robin Eggy.

My girlfriend and I went to Subaru last week for a trade in and worked with Scott Lizana in sales. We didnt know too much about the process, but he was very informative, polite and super helpful. He answered a LOT of questions we had with so much patience and kindness. Overall, the process was super smooth and it was a big relief having him explain everything. We definitely will be coming to Berman Subaru for future purchases and highly recommend this place!!

Typical dealership experience - hand off keys and don’t bother us anymore. Did not take time to explain anything on my new car lease - had to call for advice a few times while on road trip but was not helpful. Battery died due to having a bad cell, a known issue with Ascent model. Told me everything was included with Touring edition - not the case. Lost control on ice driving highway 90 through Montana because of auto steering setting.
We made an appointment to test drive a used Forester. We showed up on time, and the salesman my husband had been corresponding with wasn’t there that day. After the staff scrambled, we were given a pleasant, young salesman. He had no idea what car we were interested in. So much for the car “being ready up front for a test drive” when you make and confirm an appointment..... At first we were told the car was being washed. So we waited around. Eventually our salesman came back and told us the car wasn’t even there, it was being “detailed”. Why would you pull a car the day it was being test driven? He offered to “follow-up with us” We told him we were more than likely going to purchase a car elsewhere as we were facing a bit of a time crunch (wanted to purchase a car prior to the weekend). At that point another man came over and basically blamed everything on the original salesman who wasn’t there. Maybe it was his fault, maybe it’s an issue with the business as a whole. He also offered to follow up and I encouraged them to try but unfortunately they were likely going to lose a sale.So we left, went to another Subaru location and were able to test drive and purchase a car. That location was accommodating, warm and friendly.Apparently it’s not uncommon for the Chicago location to give people the run around so honestly I’m glad we found another dealership that is professional, personable, and well run.
