What a great place! Very knowledgeable and friendly. I love the vibe of the place. Great to learn your basics or experiment with wild stuff
Been there twice for stuff thats difficult to find elsewhere like potassium sorbate, calcium sulfate, dextrose powder and dry flavored malt. Im returning today to get a floating thermometer 🌡️ for my food-related projects. Theyre also promoting home-brewed KOMBUCHA.
Gnome Brew has great staff who are happy to help and provide guidance on your brew needs. I brew small batch beers and David was super helpful with adapting recipes to 1 gallon brewing. Overall Im super happy with the recipes, tips, and ingredients Ive purchased from here. The Kolsch and Wheat Ale recipes turned out great! Would definitely recommend this spot if you are new to brewing or want to check out a different supply store.
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff who helped us figure out what we would need as new home brewers. If you’re looking to start home brewing beer, kombucha, mead etc., I would highly recommend starting here and supporting a local business as opposed to spending more money on Amazon. The transaction was completely contactless which is perfect for current times. I’m very excited to return once in person shopping is a possibility again!
Good selection of brewing supplies, including some fun yeasts (I cant believe I just typed that). Easy curbside pickup, a must in these coronapocalypse times. You order online and then walk up and they come to the door to take your name, and then put your order outside. Easy!
This place is legit! One stop shop for all brewing ingredients and supplies. They offer classes to help you get an understanding of the brewing process and they also sell starter kits! The staff is always ready to answer questions and help if you come across any issues in your batch. Check this place out if you’re interested in getting started, they provide a sample or two of their batches as well!
Gnome Brew’s great selection, curbside pickup and local delivery have been a huge help for a hobbyist looking for distraction during this pandemic. A five star review could stop right there, but I can’t wait till the storefront is open for regular business again because the in person service and atmosphere is even better.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very nice sending l selection, especially for a small shop.
I cannot recommend this place more highly! David and Suzie are so helpful and kind and full of great information about home brewing. My husband and I returned from a trip to Belgium with a burning desire to brew our own beer and we decided to go to Gnome Brew to learn about it. Not only did we learn about it, we left the store with all the tools and ingredients we needed to get brewing! David patiently took us through step by step from start to finish how to do our first brew. While my husband had already done some reading and research about the process, I walked into the store very unsure if we could do it, but I left Gnome Brew feeling completely capable. They also gave us a card with their email saying we could write or call with any questions we might have. What a great experience!!Bonus: they gave us some delicious cold beer to drink while perusing the store, you should go here!!!
Went to the class and it was Great. Fun and learned a lot about beer and home brew. Plus plenty of beer samples and its BYOB.Ive been back a few times. Theu have a large ingredients selection and very friendly and helpful service.
Great store! Ive been homebrewing for over 5 years. This place has a great selection of grains, hops, yeast and other homebrew supplies, and in a well organized and tidy space.Owner runs the whole place himself. Super nice guy!!Would highly recommend to any beginning to advanced homebrewer.
Awesome place. If you want to learn how to make great beer, go see David
New homebrew shop in the Ravenswood/Lincoln Square/Northcenter area. Ive popped in several times and called and each time Dave was extremely helpful. Will definitely be back... often.
Small local brew store. Very friendly and personable staff.
Highly recommend Gnome Brew for all of your homebrewing needs! This store has everything you need from ingredients to homebrew supplies, and David and Suzie are both incredibly helpful in getting new homebrewers started.
Great little spot to get supplies for your next homebrew batch. Theyve got a good variety of yeasts, hops, base and specialty malts that should fit the bill for most anything on a homebrew scale. Pretty convenient location. David was helpful and clearly has a passion for homebrewing. Support your LHBS!
Just bought some priming sugar for bottling day. Now that Dave has built out a recipe builder, Ill be back for grain and yeast. Knowledgeable and helpful.
I am so glad this store is open!!! Brew camp left a void in Ravenswood- crazy given our proximity to ”malt row” and tons of local breweweries. My husband and I just picked up Dave’s one hour brew kit - ONE HOUR for a farmhouse ale -Start to finish and it’s currently fermenting. Brew shops are generally cold and unwelcoming, they seem like boys’ clubs, no decor or thought, and you have to scout disorganized fluorescent aisles of mysterious materials before hunting down a reluctant employee. Not so at Gnome Brew- The space feels like a home the minute you walk in the door-The brewery materials are beautifully displayed and labeled. The owner Dave is there to help but not intrusive- he even offered us some samples of local beer!! I hear there may be a coffee shop element coming soon. This is a gem in the neighborhood!!
Super friendly and well-stacked with ingredients.
Good shop, nice owner. I like that they have a guaranteed in stock selection.
Super helpful and friendly. Seems like theres lots of brewing events and stuff happening there too!
Great place to get homebrew supplies.
Great hop selection
Great place!
Its a gem.
