Nice, small independent bookstore in the South Loop. It was good to be in a bookstore and be able to browse quietly. Even better to realize that I knew Kevin from about 15 years ago, when he was at Barbaras Books in the Sears Tower. Really lovely atmosphere in this small shop.

The Dial is a little difficult to find as its in the upper-level of the Fine Arts building off of Michigan. Its a lovely bookshop once you get in (be careful of sketchy old-school elevator. Cool, but terrifying). Its nicely organized, a little quietly awkward, but has some neat history and nice books. Neat place to visit!

Fantastic bookstore, in which you enter through the Fine Arts Building, a historic building off Michigan Ave, to ride a beautiful elevator from the 1800’s up to the shop. A treat in itself. Super personable staff and a great selection of local authors. Support local!

Great bookstore with a great selection in a great building! Friendly staff. Not a quick stop — budget time to explore this place (the whole building is a work of art, and full of art). Also... a lovely view in this cute corner of the bookstore.

Amazing treasure trove! I stumbled across a sign on the sidewalk for this second hand bookstore and was intrigued. I took the antique elevator up to the second floor to find a gorgeous bookstore. The building was built in the 1800s and its architecture and vibe show it. I could have lived in the dial bookshop forever and been in heaven. The clerk was really cool and fielded a bunch of random questions on the store and the building for me. I love this place so much. Ive come to Chicago and been on this street at least 30 times and had no idea that this amazing store was there.

Magical bookstore in a historic building. I wandered in off the street and was so charmed to discover the manually operated elevator. The book selection was excellent. They had GREAT prices on gently used books. Ill definitely be back!

Unbelievable location! I was walking in the park and happened to look up and I see these big windows housing books, plants and twinkling lights and before I knew it I was at the crosswalk waiting to go up to the second floor to check out this adorable book store housing reasonably priced books and green plants lining all the walls up to the roof. Before I knew it I was holding multiple books at such great prices ❤️ This is a well-lite airy book store and it houses a great selection of awesome authors. You would never know it has used books in it. Great staff as well:)

I love the building this bookstore is in. I love that the bookshelves run from the ceiling to the ground. Its not the biggest book shop, but you will find great books and a good price. Nice guy at the register too. 👌

Favorite book store in the world. a landmark within a landmark. the chicago arts building is an underrated gem in and of itself, but this GORGEOUS little shop heightens it all to 11. even more surprising is how wide the selection is, and how cheap it is as well. i bought Interpréter of Maladies new for only $7 !! lovely spot, highly recommend
