The Dial is a little difficult to find as its in the upper-level of the Fine Arts building off of Michigan. Its a lovely bookshop once you get in (be careful of sketchy old-school elevator. Cool, but terrifying). Its nicely organized, a little quietly awkward, but has some neat history and nice books. Neat place to visit!
Theres nothing better than an old- fashion bookstore. Good prices and a decent collection. The staff was friendly as well.
Amazing treasure trove! I stumbled across a sign on the sidewalk for this second hand bookstore and was intrigued. I took the antique elevator up to the second floor to find a gorgeous bookstore. The building was built in the 1800s and its architecture and vibe show it. I could have lived in the dial bookshop forever and been in heaven. The clerk was really cool and fielded a bunch of random questions on the store and the building for me. I love this place so much. Ive come to Chicago and been on this street at least 30 times and had no idea that this amazing store was there.
Magical bookstore in a historic building. I wandered in off the street and was so charmed to discover the manually operated elevator. The book selection was excellent. They had GREAT prices on gently used books. Ill definitely be back!
Unbelievable location! I was walking in the park and happened to look up and I see these big windows housing books, plants and twinkling lights and before I knew it I was at the crosswalk waiting to go up to the second floor to check out this adorable book store housing reasonably priced books and green plants lining all the walls up to the roof. Before I knew it I was holding multiple books at such great prices ❤️ This is a well-lite airy book store and it houses a great selection of awesome authors. You would never know it has used books in it. Great staff as well:)
I love the building this bookstore is in. I love that the bookshelves run from the ceiling to the ground. Its not the biggest book shop, but you will find great books and a good price. Nice guy at the register too. 👌
Reopened and still the same bookstore with the best view in town! Great imported stationery as well as a great fiction section.
Neat bookstore on the second story of an old downtown Chicago building. Its small, but it has an excellent selection of books with really good prices. Ill be visiting this bookstore again!
Favorite book store in the world. a landmark within a landmark. the chicago arts building is an underrated gem in and of itself, but this GORGEOUS little shop heightens it all to 11. even more surprising is how wide the selection is, and how cheap it is as well. i bought Interpréter of Maladies new for only $7 !! lovely spot, highly recommend
Hidden gem of a bookshop in Chicago. Wonderful selection of new and used books, beautiful art, nice plants, and good views of the park. Staff is also nice and helpful.
A great little hidden book paradise.
Great location! Organized and clean, which is harder to find with used book stores. Good selection and friendly staff. Glad I found this place while visiting Chicago.
This cutest bookstore ever. Love the vibe and the prices are low!
Great little used bookstore overlooking the park. Its also in a neat building with historic elevators. Expensive, but the experience and ambiance makes up for it.
Hidden gem with an excellent selection. Cozy atmosphere, with a cat, eclectic art, plants, and views of Grant Park. Sheet music, novels, art books, plenty to choose from.
An adorable bookshop overlooking Grant Park and inside the historic Fine Arts Building (worth a visit as well). Primarily selling all new/pricier books.
The Dial bookstore has a lot of character. I love to browse their unique collection, attend their interesting events and chat with the owners about ideas that come from the books.
Beautiful space and friendly service.
Cute quiet store with really cheap books, modern to vintage
Wide selection of books in all categories. Knowledgeable staff.
Best book store in the loop, hands down. Unbelievable prices, as well.
So far it seems okay, only time will tell if it can survive.
Nice collection, some of everything.
Beautiful space, excellent curation.
Good first impression.
